Staff were very kind and informative. At check in, they sat me down & explained everything about the hotel. My room had the most incredible view of Hakone. The hotel was very clean. The bath house was very nice. There was also a neat little lounge room with records and such as well as a foot bath on the first floor. I did not take advantage of these things during my stay but still very nice features! The free breakfast was decent, mostly bread items. I don’t really have any complaints.

This onsen (i.e., hot spring) ryokan is a relatively small lodging, but the room we stayed overnight was very clean, had tatami floor and all the amenities of traditional onsen ryokans, including private hot spring bath in the room. The whole property is modern, well kept, and easy to get around. Two common hot spring baths, one indoor and the other outdoor, were not very big, but kept clean and well-stocked with amenities. I very much enjoyed soaking in these hot springs, especially the outdoor one under the moon. Unlike traditional onsen ryokans, this ryokan does not offer any dinner, only Continental breakfast, which was delicious. So, we bought some food in downtown before coming to the ryokan, and enjoyed our dinner in the room at our leisure. The staff were very polite and helpful. It was lovely staying in this property.

Eine wunderbare Unterkunft um Hakone und die Hakone-Schleife zu bereisen. Wir waren hier zwei Nächte um Hakone zu erkunden. Die Unterkunft war super, das Zimmer traditionell japanisch und der Onsen (Indoor, Outdoor und ein extra Fußbad-Onsen für Gäste, die sich möglicherweise die richtig Onsen-Erfahrung „nicht zutrauen“) einfach klasse. Es wird morgens ein kostenfreies kleines Frühstück serviert mit sehr gutem Kaffee. Außerdem kann man tagsüber die Küche nutzen um sich selbst zu verpflegen. Nicht zuletzt war das Personal einfach spitze und konnte uns bei allen Fragen und Anliegen problemlos weiterhelfen!!

Indoor outdoor Onsen plus 24hours Foot Bath. Dining room pastry breakfast and a common entertainment room with great vibe and cosy seatings.

If you want something boutique and intimate away from the usual Hakone tourist crowds, this is the place! The staff was so nice and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with amazing views. While there was no shower in our room, we basically had the small onsen areas to ourselves (men & women separate but fully nude only) or only a few other people. It's peaceful and has a homey feel with unique decor touches that we loved. From the bookshelves and records in the chill lounge area to in-room tea set with tasty green tea, it's a perfect place if you don't want the usual "formal hotel" vibe.
If you want something boutique and intimate away from the usual Hakone tourist crowds, this is the place! The staff was so nice and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with amazing views. While there was no shower in our room, we basically had the small onsen areas to ourselves (men & women separate but fully nude only) or only a few other people. It's peaceful and has a homey feel with unique decor touches that we loved. From the bookshelves and records in the chill lounge area to in-room tea set with tasty green tea, it's a perfect place if you don't want the usual "formal hotel" vibe.

This is a very nice & quiet ryokan on the way up the mountain in the Mt. Fuji/Hakone region. If you're trying to avoid the crowds down at the bottom (Hakone) or up at the top (Fujikawaguchiko), this place is for you. If you want water, it's near Lake Ashi where you can catch the sightseeing "pirate" ships. If you're looking for an onsen, there's a public outdoor bath as well as an indoor one in the bathing area downstairs (where you can soap, shampoo, etc.). NOTE: while other ryokan serve traditional bfast & dinner meals, this one does western bfast only, so be sure you have dinner elsewhere before returning for the evening, else have to order "room service" made up of canned food or instant noodles. The staff/service are friendly and help you exchange your shoes for slippers when you enter. The only knocks (minor) I'd give are that: 1) we were told there were no extra pillows available and that they'd have to go to other rooms to take pillows from there (who ever heard of a place of lodging with no extra pillows?), and 2) while it's a short 210m/690ft walk from the Ohiradai train station, the sidewalk is quite narrow, and cars are zooming up/down the mountain, so probably not advised if you're bring super young kids or elderly parents unless you've rented a car or taken a taxi to arrive. Other than that, it was quite the pleasant stay, quiet & peaceful, no other lodging directly next door, and a great resbit from the hustle-n-bustle of big cities like Tokyo & Kyoto.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, slippers were provided upon entry into lobby so no outside shoes throughout the hotel. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful, providing all information about the amenities during check-in. They also provided a flashlight when I went out at night, which I thought was a very nice personal touch.

こじんまりとした居心地のいい宿です。お部屋も清潔で、温泉もとても綺麗です。全体的にセンスがよく、快適な滞在ができました。またスタッフの方もとても丁寧に対応してくださって好感がもてました。大平台の駅まで近いですが、道を渡る時にやや車が多く渡るタイミングを待たないといけないところはネックですが大きな問題ではないと思います。

Very clean and spacious room. A traditional Japanese feel to it! The amenities were great. They had most things you might need, including Yukatas. This together with the onsen bath made this a very relaxing stay. Finally, the staff was lovely and very helpful!

Wonderful hotel tucked away with gorgeous views! Close walk to bus stop and the train, you’ll just have to prepare to walk uphill a lot lol the onsen is amazing, we used the outdoor one every night. There aren’t many people so both hubby and I had the onsen to ourselves each time! It’s such a peaceful place, it’s where we ended our Japan trip. Just know that restaurants and shops close early (like 5-7pm!) and the busses also stop around 10 so eat early. We got the executive suite, so so worth it I promise!! Oh and we absolutely loved the provided yukatas, wish we could buy them!

Quite easy to access by bus or the local railway (I recommend coming by rail rather than bus as the area is quite touristy and busses are packed) Very clean and traditional experience Stunning view from the room, and the reading area is really cute My reason for 4 rather than 5 stars: - Low beams in the room can cause taller people to bang their heads a lot - This is a personal preference thing, but the Onsen baths were SO hot it was hard to sit in there for more than a minute and enjoy relaxing

J’ai beaucoup appréciée l’emplacement de l’hôtel, la propreté de la chambre, et, également le personnel était absolument fantastique ! La seule chose à redire ce serait que le soir lorsque le vent souffle c’est assez bruyant et je pense que ça manque un peu d’isolation, mais ça ne m’a pas du tout empêché de passer un bon séjour, je vous le recommande !

Absolutely loved our stay. They were so accommodating with our 12 month old and even had a snack bag, a Yokuta, and baby bath for him. Best part of our trip so far. So beautiful.

Our stay at Hakone Suisen was wonderful. The hospitality and warmth of the staff made us feel genuinely cared for. They have a well-managed indoor and outdoor onsen. Their breakfast service is also lovely. At checkout, a kind staff member even drove our luggage to the train station, going above and beyond. We would love to return.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, slippers were provided upon entry into lobby so no outside shoes throughout the hotel. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful, providing all information about the amenities during check-in. They also provided a flashlight when I went out at night, which I thought was a very nice personal touch.

Ryokan was very unique for a first timer like me. Staff were very polite and helpful, and could speak good English which was a big help! Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in a Ryokan for the first time.

As soon as we walked into the door we were greeted by the staff. Everyone was amazing. The view from our room and from the foot bath was absolutely stunning. The kids enjoyed the play area in the lobby lounge. We can’t wait to go back!

Upon arrival, one staff member was not very welcoming. Since we arrived early, our intention was to leave our bags and explore the area, but he did not explain the no-shoes policy and came across as rude, which was a bit uncomfortable. That said, during check-in, the young lady who assisted us was extremely polite and took the time to clearly explain everything. Her professionalism made a great impression. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, and aside from the initial interaction, we had a pleasant experience.

There aren’t many people so both hubby and I had the onsen to ourselves each time! It’s such a peaceful place, it’s where we ended our Japan trip. Just know that restaurants and shops close early (like 5-7pm!) and the busses also stop around 10 so eat early. We got the executive suite, so so worth it I promise!! Oh and we absolutely loved the provided yukatas, wish we could buy them!

This is a lovely and beautiful ryokan located in a natural setting in a less crowded and touristic part of Hakone. The proximity to the Tozan Railway station and bus stops makes it practical. A few shops are located nearby. A classy establishment at decent prices. The rooms are beautiful with wonderful views on the valley. Nice little onsen on the property. Most staffs aren’t bilingual but there is one clerk fluent enough to handle most of your needs. Friendly and useful employees. This hotel is truly a hidden gem of Hakone.

If you're looking to get away to quiet serenity then this is a lovely place. It is removed from easy access to activities in the area, other than the outdoor sculpture park, which is EXTREMELY worth a visit, but it was a beautiful location to spend a peaceful break in the midst of the big cities on our itinerary.

I really appreciate the staff's help with my special requests, professionalism and friendliness. The cherry blossom tree above at least the men's part of the outdoor bath was a nice touch, as was the free breakfast. The hotel facilities look quite new too. My nitpick is that there were no nearby restaurants open for dinner at the time of my trip, so I ate at other places before returning here.

Although theres no restaurant in the hotel, you can order some frozen stuffs that u can heat in the kitchen which i initially was not excited about. But actually this is rhe first time i enjoyed a frozen pizza which i heated in the mini toaster. It was soo good. From the menu i think the pizza was made in collaboration with a japanese chef

It was very clean and friendly staff but because of location and no dinner service you are limited to what you can eat during your stay. Recommend bringing your own dinner from the market. Overall amazing experience, would have been better if it were closer to restaurants or had dining service.

The whole property is modern, well kept, and easy to get around. Two common hot spring baths, one indoor and the other outdoor, were not very big, but kept clean and well-stocked with amenities. I very much enjoyed soaking in these hot springs, especially the outdoor one under the moon. Unlike traditional onsen ryokans, this ryokan does not offer any dinner, only Continental breakfast, which was delicious. So, we bought some food in downtown before coming to the ryokan, and enjoyed our dinner in the room at our leisure. The staff were very polite and helpful. It was lovely staying in this property.

Es wird morgens ein kostenfreies kleines Frühstück serviert mit sehr gutem Kaffee. Außerdem kann man tagsüber die Küche nutzen um sich selbst zu verpflegen. Nicht zuletzt war das Personal einfach spitze und konnte uns bei allen Fragen und Anliegen problemlos weiterhelfen!!

Wonderful hotel!!! Very clean and calm. Nice traditional rooms. 3 Minute walk to the next bus station. The only downside is that you can’t eat dinner there and their breakfast is very small, so plan on eating before returning to the hotel. Besides that a 10/10, also the location is a dream.

This ryokan was really quite lovely, nestled in the woods. Very peaceful and quiet. Only two criticisms: the bath was too hot on one of the days, and the "breakfast" was a bare-bones continental (no fruit, one juice, a soup, and some pastries). Dining options were very limited near the property (have to take a train to restaurants).

This is a very nice & quiet ryokan on the way up the mountain in the Mt. Fuji/Hakone region. If you're trying to avoid the crowds down at the bottom (Hakone) or up at the top (Fujikawaguchiko), this place is for you. If you want water, it's near Lake Ashi where you can catch the sightseeing "pirate" ships. If you're looking for an onsen, there's a public outdoor bath as well as an indoor one in the bathing area downstairs (where you can soap, shampoo, etc.). NOTE: while other ryokan serve traditional bfast & dinner meals, this one does western bfast only, so be sure you have dinner elsewhere before returning for the evening, else have to order "room service" made up of canned food or instant noodles. The staff/service are friendly and help you exchange your shoes for slippers when you enter. The only knocks (minor) I'd give are that: 1) we were told there were no extra pillows available and that they'd have to go to other rooms to take pillows from there (who ever heard of a place of lodging with no extra pillows?), and 2) while it's a short 210m/690ft walk from the Ohiradai train station, the sidewalk is quite narrow, and cars are zooming up/down the mountain, so probably not advised if you're bring super young kids or elderly parents unless you've rented a car or taken a taxi to arrive. Other than that, it was quite the pleasant stay, quiet & peaceful, no other lodging directly next door, and a great resbit from the hustle-n-bustle of big cities like Tokyo & Kyoto.
