Rand Tower Hotel, Minneapolis, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Overall, the stay was fine and reasonably priced. However, there were several drawbacks worth noting. The parking ramp was particularly difficult to navigate—especially for someone who isn’t used to driving or using parking structures, coming from a major city. I’d recommend using valet instead. I arrived hungry, only to find the main restaurant closed during the day. I was directed upstairs to a “restaurant,” but it turned out to be a local sandwich chain in the skyway. I ended up walking to a nearby hotel for lunch, which was excellent, but I was thrown off by this initial encounter. Skip the restaurant regardless. The menu was very limited, and the atmosphere was brite LED chic. The lobby was heavily scented, which may be a concern for guests sensitive to fragrance. That said, the hotel itself is a cool historic property, and the staff were respectful and helpful. During a tornado drill that occurred while I was in a meeting, the staff kindly let me shelter in a conference room in the basement, which I appreciated. The gym was adequate, though the in-room AC/heating unit was quite loud—sounding more like a jet engine. I also had a mixup with the valets where I had another room's car on my bill. This was not terribly hard to get removed, but a time consuming check out activity. All in all, while there were some positives, I’d likely choose a different hotel if staying in downtown Minneapolis again.

Parking is a pain and expensive.

Old hotel with charm but in perfect condition and finishings. Front desk woman was very nice and helpful. Only used the bar for one drink since it was $19 and great pubs around with reasonable prices. Gym was good. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall, excellent. Parking options are expensive both in the hotel and next door. Next door parking has misleading pricing information at entrance.

Kind staff, very helpful. Fast elevators, rooms were amazing. Shower was great, very clean and water was nice and hot. Parking ramp offers early bird special in the morning time and that was very nice. Work out room very clean and modern. Ice machines were easy to locate.

Only one elevator was working. Long waits. Access to the parking ramp is complicated. We could use some better signage, ended up going to the ramp by walking outside the property.

Great place to stay. Parking options are slim. Needs improvement.

Great ACs, great water pressure in the showers, overall really good. The only thing is the elevators break all the time.

Ice machine was broke - 7 floors to find working one. Elevator broke on check out day. After 15 minutes waiting to leave for the elevator, another guest shared that it was broke. We carried a great deal of luggage 11 floors to exit. 91 degree weather. Disappointed (and sweaty).

Had breakfast Sunday by lobby and only had 1 person working, he was trying his best but service wasn’t real good, he could’ve used help. Then when going to leave the elevators weren’t working, walk down 12 flights carrying our luggage

Everything about my stay from check in to check out including the bell desk holding my luggage until my late evening flight out of town was excellent. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. 10/10 would recommend.

The hotel was spotless, and the staff was very accommodating. The rooms were very nice and had enough room for us. The bathroom was nice with a wonderful shower. We were very comfortable during our stay.

A lot of illegal things were going on and it seemed like management did not care at all when reported our room sheets were not cleaned, and it was just very noisy the whole entire night

Beautiful, spotless room and comfortable bed.

Location nice. The room we stayed in had a few flying and crawling bugs. The trash cans were also not emptied from previous guests. There aren’t any vending machines so drinking water options for guests is limited without going to the bar or front desk (in which there was rarely anyone there to assist). The staff is friendly, however. I did like the the streaming services available on the TV.

My room 2101 had 2 very visible carpet stains that were unappealing. Made me feel they didn’t take cleaning seriously

Safe parking, room and hotel were very clean.

There was a digusting brown stain on the bed comforter and the sheet below. I have yet to get a call from the hotel manager. The 2nd bed had dark hair on the sheets.

The property was clean and well-maintained. While the rooms were smaller than expected, they were still comfortable and tidy. We made a last-minute booking for a king-sized bed with a city view. Unfortunately, the only available rooms were on the 3rd floor, where the view was limited due to surrounding taller buildings. Additionally, one of the windows was partially obstructed by a flag, further diminishing the already modest view.

Place was great however after having maintenance come to one of the rooms, the room temp still stayed at 77 degrees.....way too hot.

This building has no air conditioning. We started out in a premium suite that would not change from 77 degrees. I called the front desk and they downgraded us to a king room which was almost 80 degrees. I called front desk again and After being moved AGAIN they told us that the building is old and does not have very functional AC… this is not disclosed when booking. I would avoid this place at all costs.

Very nice hotel located only a block away from the train station. It's only a 10 minute walk at most to both US Bank Stadium and Target Field. The room was very modern and nice.

Clean and nice room with pleasant staff! I wish I didn’t have to sign up for their reqards program for the wifi though.

Air conditioning was like an airplane taking off and coming in for a landing. Hard to sleep when not used to those sounds.

I absolutely loved my room. The decor was beautiful and modern and the mattress was very firm and comfortable. The check-in was smooth (yet busy). The restaurant service was a bit inexperienced but I had nice drinks and good food. I would absolutely stay here again. Great downtown hotel.

Air conditioner not working on one of the hottest days of the year!

Liked the location, check in was good, room was clean. Didn’t like the noise from the air handler. Sounded like a door slammed when the compressor turned off.

Beautiful hotel and room! I didn’t like the barn style sliding door on the bathroom for privacy reasons but everything else was good. Staff was friendly.

Caution but optimistic- Check in was Terrible- unprepared for Taylor Swift traffic. Hour to check and room not ready for another hour. Very frustrating! Positive- room great, clean, fairly quiet. Restaurant was excellent. Valet was easy. Overall would stay again but not if I was worried about time.

Wasn’t bad but tried the bar area once and they charged my card with another tables tab of $144 when I got one drink. I was the one to catch the mistake they would’ve just left it if I didn’t notice. Hotel isn’t terrible but parking is.

Arrived at 3 PM for checkin. Line was out the door with probably a hundred people and two staff members, often both working on one checkin. Took 30 minutes to checkin. Felt sorry for all the people walking in while I was inline. Limited elevators for guests as well.

Bad experience in lobby bar with bartender not being super experienced. Bad drinks. Not great experience at brunch on Sunday either. The entire place seemed to be short staffed and running behind. The food was fine but the dining experience was subpar. I find it very very very weird that they only offer soda by the can. We have been there a few other times and this experience made me question if I ever want to go back.

Check in lines were so long (2 people working) that we arrived at 4:30 and was not able to check in until 11pm (due to concert tickets and dinner). Luckily friends had checked in so we could store our bags

Super nice hotel, loved the room, great size, 23rd floor had a nice view. 2 minute walk to the metro, and super accessible for everything around.

Excellent location, affordable price. It is an older building but the rooms are quite nice. It is downtown so there were so homeless ppl around but they were never an issue. Bed was really comfortable. Only downside was the restaurant is French themed and only open for dinner. So we had to find other options for breakfast and dinner. Bar seemed nice but did not visit.

This hotel was about a block from the train station and extremely easy to get to from the airport. Many restraunt options are within walkable distance. The hotel and room were clean and very quiet. There was great water pressure and warm water in the shower. The bed was very comfortable.

This is a unique property, located in a convenient area of Minneapolis. There are endless dining options nearby, and it is less than a 10-minute walk to the Target Center and Armory. The parking garage is very close. It should be noted that it is quite tight, and a larger vehicle may have issues navigating it. The hotel was clean, stylish, and staff were friendly. I will definitely stay here again!

Beautiful art-deco style, great lounge for after-hours, really classy place. Parking was easy with a structure immediately next door, with access to the skyway and hotel from the 2nd level. iParkit app is THE way to go, makes check-in and door access a snap. Parking is $24/day. The room was bright with huge windows facing the city skyline. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was sized nicely, with motion sensor dimmable lighting for the shower and in-mirror LED lighting. The walk-in glass door shower was great, with a square shower head and great water pressure. The recessed linear drain was a nice touch. Nice wide-screen TV with streaming ability and cable TV, my only nag would be that the screen was not level. I'm an AV professional, so I notice these things. A better articulating bracket would allow the skew to be adjusted so the TV is level at different arm lengths and angles. The AC kept the room dry and cool and had a good white/pink noise for drowning out outside sounds and helping with sleep during the night. We always bring a fan for hotels, but we didn't need it for this room! Walking distance to the Armory and US Bank Stadium was straight down S. 6th St. at 5-7 blocks (less than 30min, depending on pace).

Very nice hotel in downtown Minneapolis. Connected to the Skywalks - very cool to be able to walk inside when it was raining. Definitely would stay here again!

Blondette restaurant was amazing! I highly recommended the duck, scallops and mushroom dish. Pretty pricey however it was so tasty and worth it! 😇

Front desk said happy hour was at 3 but we couldnt get a drink at all at the bar before our event upon return from our event we tried to get drinks at the bar upstairs they decided to close the bar early and we were turned away. In the future we will choose a different hotel we got a room downtown so we could drink and not worry about driving home.

Overall great hotel. The restaurant on the 5th floor is amazing! Food was delicious! One thing to note is that it was two of us but there was only one robe and they don’t provide disposable slippers. Also, valley parking is kind of expensive, $56 or something per day. Otherwise it was a great stay.

The hotel is sophisticated and grand in an old world style. We stayed on a top floor suite and it was beautiful. There are not food or drink options before 5 PM other than breakfast. Keep that in mind if you’re looking for an afternoon or drink. There is nothing available on site. It is conveniently located next to many bars and restaurants. The parking is close and very convenient.

The bars didn’t have adequate staff so the two bars were not available. The restaurant service was subpar at best. Food was good however the time it took to receive drinks and food took way too long. We had to get sat at the restaurant because bar was closed. We ended up leaving after 20 mins and no drinks

I chose the Rand because of the ability to walk to an event at the Orpheum and to enjoy the hotel's amazing restaurant Blondette. The restaurant and bar were quiet (Twins game that evening) and we enjoyed great food and service. The valet parking fee is steep, but totally worth it!

Food and beverage choices were fantastic!

The reception staff were extremely nice and helpful. The restaurant and bar on the 5th floor is really cool space, with good cocktails and food. The room was well designed and spacious.
