POOR REFUND POLICY … AND QUESTIONABLE NEIGHBORHOOD With all due respect to the Overtown community and its history, after making my booking, I had safety concerns - particularly about the parking and my 5AM departure. I attempted to cancel within a couple of hours and was notified that there would be NO REFUNDS

We arrived late at night and stayed for one night before departing for our cruise at 10am the next day. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and the hotel and our room was very clean. We felt safe inside the hotel but we didn't venture outside because the area seemed a bit sketchy and there wasnt much around it. We would consider staying here again for one night before our next cruise because of its close proximity to the cruise port.

Stayed 1 night

Upon entering the lobby, there was a strong marijuana smell. 3 people were in the lobby and 1 person eventually passed out. Check in took forever. The night staff was having a bad day - one of the room locks malfunctioned and he and a handyman were clearly running into issues. Our initial room wasn’t ever cleaned so we went back down to the lobby. The staff got us a new room. While waiting in the lobby multiple times I noticed the guestbook left unattended with everyone’s personal info - phone, addresses, credit card info etc. I also saw where all the room codes were kept. At that point I wasn’t comfortable- someone could easily get the code to my room and steal my personal data. The staff was friendly. The second room we got was clean. But it was an uneasy feeling. The rest of the public area - courtyard and back area are pretty run down.

Warning, they will overbook and you may not get a room if you show up late. We got the last room of the night and the couple checking in right after us got turned away even though they had also prepaid. As far as the hotel, it’s in a good location for convenience, but it is a pretty rough neighborhood. The staff were friendly and the room was ok. The breakfast is pretty small and you can’t really walk around in that neighborhood and find somewhere else to eat.
