Great stay, great location and great amenities. Kayaks and Paddle boards included which makes it great to not have to book another activity on the lagoon. Front staff very helpful and happy to give you all the tools to get by by yourself around town

I loved the hotel because it's right by the lagoon and has incredible sunrises. You can go kayaking or relax in the pool while having a cocktail.

Perfect location, kayak was available for no charge and no time frame Axel was accommodating breakfast was exceptional and lunch could have picked a better spot, my dog was welcome and lots of green for him to play, bar had a refreshing fruit smoothie. ALL AROUND WONDERFUL

Put in risk our lives because of the bad conditions of the kayaks also bad service

Ce joli petit hôtel à taille humaine avec beaucoup de charme et à la décoration signée est juste le meilleur emplacement pour profiter de la lagune. Juste en face d’un petit ilo… il permet d’avoir pieds juste après leur ponton. Grâce à cela vous en prenez plein la vue et profitez de toutes les teintes de bleus du lagon. Vous êtes tellement bien que vous allez être déçu en allant vouloir découvrir d’autres spots sur la lagune où l’eau est de profonde..! Nourriture très bonne, du petit déjeuner au dîner. Cocktails parfait, tarif très raisonnable. Seul hic, comme dans beaucoup d’endroits au Mexique… les propina… c’est un hôtel assez onéreux au même standard et prix que la France. Ou il faut sans cesse être obligé de laisser un pourboire… je le fais toujours volontiers en France mais sans y être obligé et c’est cela qui m’a dérangé dans un hôtel de ce type où les prix ne son pas pas chère… pour le Mexique… un des serveurs un jour en voulant m’encaisser a fait beaucoup de manipulation sur la machine à carte de crédit pour que ma carte ne passe pas… et pour que je me retrouve sur le fait accompli et que je mette cette note sur la chambre où il m’explique que ça me sera facturé au check out mais avec une propina de 10%… ( ma carte est passé 15 minutes après dans un autre endroit..)

CasaBakal ligt op een zeer unieke prachtige locatie. We verbleven er 2 nachten in de vierpersoonskamer in het huis met zicht op de lagune. Als je zicht op de lagune wil is de prijs ontzettend hoog en voor die hoge prijs wil je een mooie kamer. Helaas viel dat tegen, de kamer was helemaal afgeleefd en had dringende renovatie nodig, de gordijnen vielen naar beneden, door resten van verf konden we niet door de ramen kijken en op het terras waren putten in de vloer, ook het éne terrasmeubel dat we hadden was niet bijzonder en op onze dekens waren verfvlekken, eigenlijk waren er overal verfvlekken, dit alles was heel jammer, de kamer was niet wat we verwacht hadden, er waren nieuwe bungalows bijgezet en daar ging alle aandacht naartoe. Als we iets moesten vragen aan de receptie was het zonder een lach en met tegenzin. De sup boards die we gratis ter beschikking kregen waren ook aan vervanging toe maar de crew van de boards en de zeil crew waren super vriendelijk. Het ontbijt was gelukkig zeer goed en zeer uitgebreid en gevarieerd met warm en koud buffet en de bar aan het zwembadje is heel gezellig.

I think Casa Bakal is the best choice for Bacalar… gorgeous setting with kayaks and paddle boards always available. The food was lovely and reasonably priced, fresh cold water always available and not served in eco-unfriendly plastic bottles. The breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit and a great menu. Also easy to walk into town or cycle to the cenote. We took the three hour boat ride as well and the guys were great :)

El hotel muy lindo, tiene una vista espectacular a la laguna y no está lejos del centro . Tomamos tour en velero con el mismo hotel, que es muy conveniente ya que no tienes que desplazarte a otro lugar . El recorrido estuvo increíble , Alex y Emmanuel fueron muy atentos , súper recomendable.

The lady at the reception was super helpful. The grounds are beautiful with flowers. The direct access to the lake is a plus with kayaks available on property.

Perfect location on the lagoon. The room was clean and spacious, amenities were plentiful, water was hot which is a rare treat in Mexico. If you are looking for a nice place in Bacalar and want to be on the water, this place ranks pretty solid. Room could benefit from the use of some screens in the bathroom window.

The property was in a fantastic location on the lagoon. The hotel was well kept, clean, quiet, felt safe and the staff was excellent. The only drawback was that we had to take a taxi to get to other restaurants and shops. We also had the sink spring a leak on our room, but it was quickly fixed and cleaned up. I will surely come here again.

It is a beautiful old building and very nicely laid out garden. The deck leads right up to the lagoon and there is a spectacular view especially in the morning over the bay. The water pressure is excellent and staff are very absolutelly lovely. The breakfast experience is good enough. It is a-la-carte (think fruits, yoghurt, omelet and so on) in combination with a coffee/juice/tea/toast/jelly/butter buffet. It makes for a nice and simple combination. The maintenance leaves to be desired. The bungalows look very nice from far but the bathroom, the bedding, and the towels are in need of an upgrade. The main issue in the bathroom is moisture, which led to mold, peeling paint and a smell of moisture.

L'hôtel en lui-même est très jolie la chambre sent énormément le moisi en particulier la salle de bain qui était assez délabré planche de bois pourri dans la douche autour de la porte sinon la restauration était très bien et le personnel excellent

Casa Bakal was exceptional. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and provided guidance for different activities. The cleaning team did an excellent job in cleaning our bungalow. The location is perfect and the views are breathtaking. A very important factor was that it was pet friendly and our little guy was very happy there as well. From arrival to departure the staff made sure we had an excellent experience and we absolutely did. Casa Bakal is definitely a return destination, often.

Very nice place it was very relaxing and peaceful! Only knock I have is a little hike from town if walking about 30 plus minutes. I also found the beds a little too firm for my liking but that is just a personal preference.

The reservation did not specify that the bathroom was outside and shared, otherwise i would not reserve, however, the staff always maintained the facilities clean. My cabana was the 4th one (in front of the lagoon) so when the tide goes up all the grass gets wet making difficult to walk from the cabana to the main areas, some wood carpet would help to avoid this. Other than that the facilities are nice, the location is privilege, it is close to the restaurants and local attractions. I would be back for sure!!

Great location by the lake but not worth it if you do not get a cabin w lake-view. Nice food and enjoyed the SUP and kayaks provided by the hotel. We were a couple seeking a relaxing and calm stay and we did not understand it was a family hotel based on the marketing; so we were surprised by german/dutch children running around and shouting during the day that impacted our stay negatively. Please note that its a huge difference between lake-view and not lake-view cabins. The non-lake view cabins feels small and if you don’t want full insight from people walking by outside you will have the curtains closed (walking path just in front of the bed). Poor wifi in the room. To summarize: The hotel area, surroundings, food, vibe and Staff are great. The non-lake view cabins are overpriced and not nice. Please note that the chill vibe of the place is easily disturbed by a few loud guests, hence its a little of a gamble to stay here if you’re a couple looking for calmness.

No respetaron mi reserva y me cobraron extra por una pequeñita habitación. Muy elevado el costo. Las habitaciones se les mete el agua por el techo es de palma y se moja la cama. La recepción muy mal….solo te “resuelve” pagando extra para que te cambien a una habitación que no se moje.

Our family of 3 stayed in the room with 4 twin beds (backpacker style!) when we stayed during the annular eclipse. The room was very basic, especially the bathroom, but the view was stunning. We loved the pool, dock and ease of checking out the included kayaks and paddleboards. Service was excellent and everyone was so friendly - some of the best service we have experienced in Mexico. The only downside was the beds were quite hard and could use some kind of softer covering. Overall, highly recommend!

Really enjoyed our family stay at this small lakeside hotel. Our room was lovely rustic chic, clean and had very good aircon. The breakfast each morning was superb- a mix of buffet items and ordering a la carte. So far the best cocktails I’ve tasted on this 2 week trip. Good proximity to main “town” and other restaurants Highly recommend

Nous avons séjourné dans cet hotel 2 nuits. A notre arrivée, des travaux se situent juste devant l'hôtel (pas de chance). On nous conduit à notre bungalow qui se situe tout au fond de l hotel, de l'autre côté du mur nous separant de la rue. Étant donné la proximité immédiate avec le passage des voitures et les travaux qui commencent tôt le matin, nous nous rendons vite compte que cela sera gênant. Nous demandons donc à la réception si un bungalow avec une localisation moins bruyante est disponible et on ne nous propose qu'un bungalow superieur pour lequel il faut debourser la modique somme de 3100pesos par nuit (130e environs), en plus de ce que nous avions déjà réglé (déjà 130e la nuit). Cela nous semble très couteux. Malgré cela, nous sommes prêt à payer une partie du surcout afin de pouvoir passer un sejour agréable, mais en aucun cas la totalité. Nous demandons donc un geste commercial de leur part, ce qui est refusé. C'est très décevant, d'autant plus que les installations (piscine et restaurant) et l'hôtel en general ainsi que les équipes qui travaillent la bas sont très sympathique. Ce simple geste commercial aurait pu rendre notre sejour parfait, mais il restera finalement moyen (nuits compliquées, très bruyante, évacuation des fosses septiques devant notre porte le 2e jour...). D'autant que le bungalow supérieur proposé est donc resté sans occupants pendant ces 2 nuits.

One of them most beautiful places on earth. Danny at the desk was so helpful. The food was wonderful and the staff so polite and kind. We went kayaking and took the 3 hour sailing trip around the lagoon. The guides on the sail boat were fun and knowledgeable about the area. Met some wonderful people from around the world and one family we'll be keeping in touch with !! I love this smaller size, quaint hotel, I wouldn't change a thing about it !!

Great place Isabell was awesome fluent English and Spanish Jorge the manager super nice . We shared his chefs new vegetarian creation . it was awesome! Jim and Karen

El hotel es muy agradable, directo sobre la laguna. El personal es muy amable y soluciona los problemas eventuales de forma inmediata. Lo recomiendo ampliamente

Desgraciadamente uno paga una habitación poco menos que de lujo y lo mandan al ultimo rincón de la propiedad y pegado a un restaurante vecino con música y escándalo hasta las 11:30 PM., y la primera noche no tuvimos agua caliente porque se descompuso el calentador, hasta el día siguiente lo arreglaron.

We had a great time at CasaBakal, it's the perfect location right on the lagoon with a lovely pier to sit on and watch the sunset. Our intial room was very small, the photos do hide this a bit with just one bed and not much space around it! Luckily they were able to move us to a bigger room which was perfect. The staff were lovely and kind.

Très belle vue sur le lagon. Jolie chambre. Petit déjeuné varié mais pas de très bonne qualité. Pas de jus d’orange

Es un hotel lindo, confortable, se siente a gusto, en uno de los lugares más bellos del mundo. Extraordinaria la atención y las instalaciones. La comida muy buena en Balik!!!

Horrible experiencia, llegamos con lluvia, para llegar hasta la habitación tuvimos que atravesar Rios de lodo, en la habitación no había con que limpiarse los pies, fuimos a almorzar y luego de ordeñar pasados más de 15min nos avisan que no tenían lo que habíamos ordenado, en la noche fuimos a comer a Balik, el servicio y cocina muy bajo, cuando llegamos a la habitación el A/C empezó a liquesr agua sobre la cama y sobre nosotros, bajo la lluvia, nos cambiaron a la única habitación libre, espantoso y caluroso. Pasamos una noche horrible, al día siguiente decidimos irnos ya que es lamentable el estado general del hotel.

recomiendo que verifiquen el baño habitación H21, si uno pasa queda oliendo feo, y el bar, pedí bebidas, nunca llegaron

Lovely stay with our dog! The food was amazing and some of the best cocktails I had while in Bacalar!

Très jolie vue sur le lagon. Le restaurant adjacent à l’hôtel est merveilleux et pas cher. Les rideaux des Bangalow sont trop petits pour cacher le vis à vis et ne sont pas du tout occultants.
