Rocky Top Guesthouse on the River

Easy to find the house, close to town. In the first 10 minutes of being there, we saw a bald eagle, a paddle boat, and a barge. Kitchen was fully equipped and there were even snacks. Highly recommended!

Everything was great - kitchen had everything we needed and lots of spaces too!

Kitchen was nicely arranged. All necessary cooking utensils were supplied.. Host were amazing. Views were fantastic.

This cabin had everything we needed and wanted for our stay - fully stocked, good communication from owner, comfortable beds, beautiful scenery and quiet location away from the hubbub of town. It's perfectly located for easy access to Hannibal tourist areas and the Mark Twain Cave and parks. Highly recommend!

We came on Feb 13, Valentine Eve, to attach our lovelock to the Hearts of Lover’s Leap. We also toured the riverfront and lighthouse and ate in a local diner. Staying at Rocky Top continued the romantic vibes, with the decor inside and the majestic view outside. Conveniently located, The accommodations were spotless clean, with entertainment and snacks thoughtfully provided. It can be a challenge to get luggage up the stairs, though, so may want to pack light. We enjoyed our visit to Hannibal and our stay at Rocky Top, hope to return in future; have to give 5.0 stars here!

The guesthouse is very clean and well thought out. From the board games and books to the emergency numbers on the fridge. They have thought of everything. The bed was super comfortable and they offered extra pillows in the closet. The shower was super nice too!

Lovely property on a bluff above the Mississippi, with a great deck to enjoy the eagles, boats and sunrise. Very comfortsble and clean home with high quality beds and large bathroom. Lots of little extras supplied in the house for fun and comfort. Very private setting with well tended yards. Carol and Ted are super nice hosts as well. We have stayed there twice, and will again in the future.

Communicating with Carol prior to our visit was a dream!! As advertised---the private, picturesque location is sheer perfection! The exterior stairs are a little daunting! As presented online--the interior is immaculately clean, comfortable & accommodating---with plenty of plug-ins. It has a fully stocked kitchen, a great dining area, room darkening curtains, & shelving with photo-scrapbooks, games, books, & tourist information!! We loved spending our only evening at this property sitting on the deck---drinking wine & watching all the activity on the river!! Having our hosts Ted & Carol join us for a portion of that evening was "icing on the cake"!! The large bathroom has a "new corner shower" that has "frosted glass" for privacy--just in case there is more than a single person in the bathroom! Both beds were a little "firmer" than we like, but make sure to check-out the array of extra bedding & assorted pillows in the closet in the bedroom!! On the afternoon of our arrival, we stopped at the visitor's bureau, got a PRIVATE TOUR of Jim's Journey: The Huck Finn Freedom Center & toured the 2-level, inclusive Mark Twain Museum---ALL A "MUST SEE"!!! Chocolate purchases were made at Chocolaterie Stam! That evening we ate a "divine meal" at the ecclectic LaBinnah Bistro!!! The following morning we took the 10am tour of the ASTOUNDING Rockcliffe Mansion, followed by the Mark Twain Cave tour. We then ate a picnic lunch outside of the cave area!! WONDERFUL HANNIBAL!!!

Rocky Top was excellent. We appreciated the hosts’ attention to detail, including little signs with helpful info throughout the home, a well-organized and rich guest manual, a well-stocked game/book shelf, and plenty of electrical outlets. The view was beautiful, and the house was extremely clean and comfortable. We wished we had booked at least 2 nights instead of only 1.

Efficient communication for easy access. Great location to downtown. We walked to lookout point (only 1mile but very steep climb) Ample deck space with beautiful nature and river views, quiet. Very clean space. The extras were nice touch (snacks, local info brochures, photo books, and owner notes).

We spent two separate nights on our round trip trip from MN to Georgia and loved each stay. You can tell the care that Carol and her husband have for getting their guest house ready for travelers. What I’m referring to is the cleanliness and organization of cabinets and drawers, not to mention the little sign/messages throughout the house making sure you have no problems acclimating yourself to your surroundings. And we appreciated the little gift for return visitors. Highly recommend.

This was such a wonderful place to spend a few days! It was clean, well-stocked, and so incredibly comfortable.

I think this is the cleanest place I’ve been to! 15 out of 10 rating. Very nice place to stay and relax. Kick back on the deck and enjoy the incredible view. I’m spoiled now and will never want to stay elsewhere. A great place!!

This property sits high on the bluff next to the Mississippi with a beautiful view of the river. A very quiet & relaxing atmosphere. Really clean with all the amenities you could want. We loved every minute we were there & wished we could stay longer!

It really is one of the nicest properties we’ve stayed at…super clean, organized, high quality furnishings, comfortable bed, very quiet, and a magnificent view. Appreciate that owners don’t charge a cleaning fee and guests cooperate by following a few simple rules upon departure. Really a good find!

We stayed two nights at the Rocky Top guest house. The house is just a few minutes scenic drive from Hannibal. The homeowners were fantastic communicators. The welcome book, picture books, and little notes left in the house were the perfect welcoming touch and helped make our stay so comfortable. The home was spotlessly clean; the pictures don't do it justice. We will stay here again if we are in the area. The perfect home-base for enjoying all that the Hannibal area has to offer!!

This place has perfect views of the river and railroad track along the bank! It was immaculate and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. I honestly can't think of anything that would improve this rental. The deck was a favorite spot to gather with our best friends. And even inside you had a great view of the river and nature . We heard and saw many birds and a couple of eagles in flight. And the location to town was perfect, just far enough away but close enough to get to. The steps leading up to the entry and the steep driveway were not an issue. We will definitely return during a different season. This place gets every star possible!

It was so relaxing and peaceful. I could look at the river all day long. The only thing was the bed was a little hard for me but you can't please everyone. Big bathroom and big shower! Right out side of town and easy to get to. It was a great stay.!

The view of the Mississippi River was amazing and we spotted Bald Eagles several times during our visit. Accommodations were clean, comfortable and spacious. Felt at home and very peaceful. Great location to visit several of the local attractions. We hope to visit this host in the future.

The place was perfection. It's even better than in the photos because photos can't capture the feeling of being in a perfectly clean and well-appointed house on a cliff overlooking the Mississippi River and beyond to the horizon. We had our Doberman Shepherd dog with us who loved fetching sticks in the yard and going on walks down the trail into the woods. Even the landscaping was perfect. Carol, the host, always responded right away to my questions large and small. Here and her husband's home is right next to the guest cottage but the way things are set up you don't see them and vice verse. Hannibal is a super cute town and is nearby. I hope to return soon.

This was our second stay with Ted and Carol. They are great hosts and the location above the Mississippi River is fantastic as you can watch all the river traffic. Hannibal is an interesting town with lots of murals and Tom Sawyer stuff.

The hosts leave you with so many amenities you don’t expect. We brought our dog and they were very accommodating. The house is better than the pictures. The view is amazing and it really is close to all of the attractions Hannibal has to offer. We never needed anything from them, so we never saw or talked with our hosts. Just one of the best places we ever stayed at. Thank you!

We cannot say enough good things about our stay here!! The owners were so kind and friendly!! The view was absolutely mesmerizing! This was the cleanest place we've ever stayed at and there are more amenities than we could count! We loved the binoculars there for our use and loved looking through the photo books of the river and of the town of Hannibal. The owners have truly thought of everything their guests could possibly need from an easy self check-in to ample pillows, towels, and little extras everywhere you look! We will be back soon! Rocky Top Guesthouse deserves its 10/10 rating. If I could, I’d give it an 11. Excellent communications from the very start. Very pet friendly. Hosts are truly accommodating and provide detailed instructions and suggestions for where to dine, what to do, etc.. Views from the deck are fabulous. I captured a beautiful photo of the sun rising over the Mississippi. EXPECTATIONS EXCEEDED: My wife is very sensitive to perfumes and scents, so the day before arrival we asked if plug-ins and dryer sheets could be removed from the unit. The host went above and beyond and rewashed towels without fabric softener. Highly recommend Rocky Top on the River!

It was just as advertised. Great view overlooking the Mississippi River in a secluded area. The house was very nice, everything we needed, easy to get to and not far from town. I would for sure recommend it to anyone and may go back when it is cooler. A lot of new scents for our adventurous dog.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely guesthouse. The accommodations were more than we could have asked for. The view of the Mississippi River from the deck was beautiful and relaxing. The location was not far from old Hannibal where there are a lot of restaurants, shops and tours. We certainly plan on booking another trip when we have more time.

We had the most wonderful stay at Rocky Top. The property is absolutely perfect for a small family or a couple looking for a romantic getaway. The views are stunning, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the location is in a great spot, just minutes from downtown while also being just far enough out to feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere.We stayed here for our 10th anniversary and couldn’t have been happier. We definitely plan to return.

We were looking for the perfect place to relax that was peaceful, comfortable and with a good location. This place is perfect!!! Serene and secluded with a gorgeous river view and yet only 10 minutes to Main Street and all it has to offer. Wish I could give more that just 5 stars!!!!

Even in winter, this guesthouse is pure loveliness and tranquility. The space is warmly curated and the kitchen is well-equipped. Carol is gracious and communicative. 2 min drive drive from Mark Twain's cave (excellent tour guide and a fun family activity). Highly recommended all around.

This home is amazing. It was super clean and the view was awesome. We took the Grands to Hannibal and this house was perfect for us. It is so close to all the attractions in Hannibal but you feel like you are away from it all. Highly recommend!
