nice to be on top floor (4th) so no noises above. But the access from lobby is outdoors under roof to the stair/elevator tower, then outdoors no roof to the room. Once in the room it was very quiet, modern and comfortable but lacking a work desk. A good nights sleep

Great location close to downtown Reykjavik. Very walkable were it not for we visited during the height of a cold snap. The only thing that is a bit odd is you need to go outside to get to your room, so with the cold snap it was a bit chilly. And also parking, while convenient, was a bit tricky since the street was covered in snow. Overall a great place to stay.

The property is a good and nice stay. Downtown is about 10-15 minute walk. Just don’t let them tell you that they provide luggage storage. There is no check in service so they will send you a code for your door and a code for luggage storage to store your luggage if you arrive before your check in. That code does not work and there is no one on site to help you. I’ve read about 20 other reviews in the last month that have said the same thing. So I would recommend staying here but just don’t plan to drop your luggage off to store before your check in. It will not work.

It’s far enough away from downtown and major food/shopping that it is ideal for anyone who is driving, except the “complimentary” parking is extremely limited. Be prepared to pay for street parking away from the hotel or risk getting towed.

I liked that everything was withing walking distance but not right in the middle of the city where it is kind of hard to find parking. Plenty of free parking available near the hotel

Newly renovated property with self check-in. Unlike previous reviews, we had zero issues with the check-in process. The property owner provided us with codes to access the building and a video on which doors led to where. Parking behind the building is plentiful and convenient. The room itself is spacious and modern, with conveniently located power sockets. Beds were comfortable and the WiFi was among the fastest I have ever had in a hotel. The location is very convenient, in walking distance of a large food-court, across the street from a bakery and a maximum of 30 minute walk to the center of the city.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Aska. The beds were comfy and the room was very clean! It’s a little longer walk to some restaurants but we didn’t mind. Taxi and scooters are available if you don’t want to walk. The staff was all so helpful and friendly.

This hotel was clean and quiet. The bed and sheets were an absolute dream. All the check in information was sent prior to check in and was very accurate and made checking in no problem, as there is no front desk staff. The video sent gave good directions on where to access rooms. I would stay here again!

The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was nice, could use a little more counter space in the bathroom but it was fine. The fridge in the room was a plus. There is no front desk or any staff on the premise at all, except for some cleaning staff during the day. In a perfect world this would be fine but I saw some people having issues with their key codes, including two individuals on our second last night who were banging around trying to figure it out at two in the morning, so that was annoying. Luckily our check-in was relatively easy and issue free. The one major problem with the hotel are the doors separating the rooms from the outside. They are extremely, and I mean extremely, loud. They slam so hard that they would shake our wall right about our bed. We were one of the furthest rooms away from the entry door as well, I could only imagine how brutal it would be to be a room nearby. This causes a big issue as every time someone would enter and exit, the door would slam and wake us up if we were sleeping. Looking at some of the other reviews, this seems to be an issue for quite a few people. It’s too bad management hasn’t taken action yet.

The hotel was in a relatively good location, 20 minute walk to town centre. The rooms were clean and tidy but had issues with the shower as the lip intended to keep the water in was not substantial enough, so water flooded the bathroom. The sinks were tiny (had plenty of room for bigger ones) there was a shelf above the sink, which made leaning over the sink and brushing teeth etc impossible. We also requested a room on the top floor, which was confirmed on an email, but when we arrived were given a ground floor room with a view of a wall. This was changed but not to the top floor we requested.

Great location, comfy room and nice washroom. The only issue being the lighting in the room. I understand the value of ambiance lighting but not to a point where there is no option for actual proper lighting. Had a hard time packing my stuff early in the morning, especially when the biggest ambient lighting stopped working.

I don't know if it was were the room was situated but wifi was glitchy which made the TV pixilate often and connecting the laptop was impossible. It took of getting used too but the door did not want to lock easily so slamming the door to lock it was probably not appreciated by those around us. The location, though was fantastic and the room and facilities were amazing

The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. However we were in a room on the ground floor looking straight onto the car park with the entrance door right by us. Every time someone came into the building the door slammed heavily, shaking the whole room. That, coupled with people talking loudly in the car park outside our room, and in an adjacent room, meant we didn’t sleep well at all. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is nice. However there are no staff on site so no one to raise issues about noise with. I’m sure a room away from the car park and the entry door would not have these issues but the location of our room did impact our stay so we wouldn’t stay here again.

Self service hotel from check in to check out, location is close to downtown Reykjavik. Bed is a bit soft for my liking but is okay for a few days. Generally, hotel is clean (but shower door never closes which always leave lots of water on floor) and good for a short stay.

I enjoyed my stay. These rooms are very small- not sure I could have fit another person in my room but it was perfect for just me. Only thing I would advise is the outside doors are very heavy and slam loudly when people walk through. Light sleepers would wake up. Perhaps a sign on these doors so they would not slam? Clean and perfect for one person.

The bathroom was badly designed. Shower area is not a full enclosure and the shower floor was not slanted toward the drain so the water flowed outside the shower areas. The sink was so small and the mirror and the tray in front of the mirror was in the way that you cannot even wash your face without hitting the tray in front of the mirror. Whoever designed that bathroom was a bone head. Not fully thought of and never used what he has designed.

No front desk staff although it says “you will be treated by front desk staff”. They got rid of them I tried to cancel my reservation and they said no since it was non refundable. You leave your luggage in a locked storage room since there is no early check in. No one there to watch it your luggage. Arrived and entry code didnt work. There is a button to push to call someone and no one ever answered. Waited outside for over 30 min in the cold for them to finally program our code that would work. I let them know we are arriving on an early flight and they said no problem getting in. But we did have a problem and froze outside waiting. Very frustrating. There is no tea in the room just coffee. No breakfast available. Shower floods but no one to get extra towels from to clean it up. Have to go outside to get into your room. Odd set up Rooms clean and comfy but feel a little unsafe with no front desk staff to speak to. Quiet area. Quite a distance from the centre but walkable.

Is and several other customers had problems being locked out of the hotel on multiple occasions and there was no on site staff to help out. Our stay was for a week and th why only brought towels and changed linens one time , even tho we requested it multiple times.

They must be going through a turnover... This hotel is self check-in. My reservation said "Front desk staff will greet guests on arrival." There was no staff to be found. Ever. 20 minutes on the phone with India help desk to get an email with a room reservation and door code. At the time we arrived (May 2), electricians were doing work, so none of the building doors were locked (which was fine with me as it was raining). This was apparently when they were installing the touchscreen pad outside the main door that would (presumably) have allowed me to get help without having to call on my phone. Housekeeping was non-existent. We were there 3 nights and our room was never touched, so the "daily housekeeping" as advertised is false. I saw something about putting a card on the door handle to ask for housekeeping, but there was no card. Shower could not be on full blast or else the bathroom would quickly flood. However, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was clean, and the towel warmer worked. (Also -- bring your own hairdryer.)

This property converted to self service after I booked it. Everything about this was a disaster. I was told I would receive key codes for the front door and the luggage storage room prior to our arrival earlier than check-in. Those did not arrive in a timely manner, and when they did, NONE of them worked. I had to call the customer service line and spend at least 30 minutes on the phone trying to get into the luggage storage room, after only entering the lobby when another guest let us in. Upon return later, after the 3pm check-in time, all of the door codes AGAIN did NOT work. Another 40 minutes on the phone to get our luggage and get into our rooms. Once inside, the rooms are fine. This self-service nonsense is a nightmare. I would never book here again for this reason.

Had a problem with my entry code when I arrived, but an email to the hotel was answered immediately and they reset the code and I had no problems afterwards. Other guests had problems also upon arriving, but I think their problems were addressed as soon as they contacted the hotel also. The lighting in the room is very poor, I could barely see what I was doing and had to see by the light of the tv. Couldn’t read my book in bed at all, and packing in the dark was difficult. In Winter months with short daylight and dark days, this issue should be addressed. The room was compact, but good enough for a six night stay and bed is very comfortable. The pick up stop for excursions is very conveniently located at a nearby hotel (4 minutes walk). I didn’t have a car, but it seemed that plenty of parking was available for those who had a car. I didn’t take the breakfast but the supermarket is very close by to purchase some snacks for the room. Walking into town wasn’t too far, or going down to the waterfront for viewing the northern lights was convenient. My stay at hotel Aska was good overall.

We called the property twice because the code wouldn’t work when we first checked in and after we got back from dinner. They answered the phone service number quick, but still shouldn’t have happened especially not twice. Overall though, room was clean and nice. Great view.

We had trouble typing in the code to get into the hotel and into the rooms. In fact, if we had been there by ourselves (instead of having a traveling companion in a separate room). We may not have been able to get back into the hotel after dinner. We never interacted with anyone and since we booked through Expedia, we couldn't get in contact with the owners, because our link to Expedia was giving us trouble.

Great location with all the basics. Nice seating area at lobby with restrooms but there are no staff at premises ever. Passcode entry has its issues. Door keypad can be tricky. In our case, battery was low and we needed to call number provided during reservation. This was solve very rapidly.

Great location close to downtown Reykjavik. Very walkable were it not for we visited during the height of a cold snap. The only thing that is a bit odd is you need to go outside to get to your room, so with the cold snap it was a bit chilly. And also parking, while convenient, was a bit tricky since the street was covered in snow. Overall a great place to stay.

Das Hotel ist sehr gut gelegen, bis in die Stadt kann man problemlos laufen. In der direkten Umgebung gibt es sowohl Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants und einen Bäcker. Parkplätze für den Mietwagen sind am Hotel auch vorhanden. Das Zimmer war sauber und modern, allerdings eher klein und zweckmäßig. Das Bett war sehr bequem. Im Badezimmer hätte ich mir noch eine Ablage gewünscht. Zusammengefasst bin ich sehr zufrieden und kann das Hotel allen empfehlen die eh die meiste Zeit unterwegs sind.

Hotel Aska was beautiful. It is all serve yourself pretty much but the room and surrounding areas were very clean. It is a very walkable area with the city center only 20 minutes away by foot.

I recently stayed at Hotel Aska and overall had a positive experience. The property itself is well-maintained and in excellent condition. I particularly appreciated its accessibility to a variety of dining options and the convenience of being able to walk to the city center. The shower cabin was not very closed because of which water was leaking out to the WC area. There is no restaurant in the hotel, so the breakfast is packed and hung in front of the room every morning - good value for the price. Clean rooms and nice surroundings with a bakery just across the street.

Great spot! Bathroom was one of the most elegant I've ever seen. Loved the view from the top floor hallway. Had available parking every day. Had dinner at a great food hall a few blocks away, towards the water.

The manager and his staff were extremely accommodating and helpful during our 6 night stay in this brand new hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of the Laugavegur restaurant and shopping area. There are a few nice cafes on the same street as the hotel. We highly recommend the Hotel Aska.

Hotel location is very quiet and super convenient, it’s close to downtown (10 - 15 mins walk) through Laugavegur, a very commercial street full of nice bars, restaurants and gift shops. Another important thing about the location is that most of the company tours pick up and drop off at the Brim or Orkin hotel, both located next door, so you don’t have to worry about walking long to a bus stop to get picked up for your excursions. Hotel premises are new and rooms as well, very clean and well maintained. The little coffee maker in the room 😍, nothing like a good coffee in the morning. Hotel staff were super friendly and helpful, always willing to take care of you and your requests. Thanks Hotel Aska for everything and definitely will stay again with you guys.

The property was fine. There is no food or drink near the hotel. It is a 30 minute walk into downtown where there are some options. During our stay a construction site near the hotel was using dynamite and as a guest you would hear the warning sirens and then the hotel would shake from the explosion.

The Hotel was amazing for the price! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful. The bed was made for us every day and the bin emptied which we loved! The location was okay - about a 25-30 minute walk from the main centre but we only had one day to explore the Reykjavik anyway so the walk was okay for one day. For tours the location is great because all the tours we went on picked us up about a 30 second walk away. Also only an 11 minute taxi drive away from the Sky Lagoon (about £25). The only issue we had was half the bathroom floor would flood every time we had even a quick shower - however we were left multiple bathroom mat towels every day which was very appreciated. Also, having a hairdryer in the room would be great and having cutlery in the rooms / at reception would be very helpful when ordering takeout (since there’s no restaurant in the hotel).

A great stay, we stayed here 4 nights, it is virtual check in, located about 10 minutes from the old town of Reykjavik. As it’s virtual there isn’t a staff presence, so I would recommend that they leave the room with a larger supply of coffee/creamer. But all in all a great stay, also, Alva hotel round the corner is a stop for tours so ideal to get picks up there. Thank you
