Hotel NYX Cancun

Hotel is undergoing construction which starts at 9AM and goes on till 8PM at night. Next door properties are also undergoing construction which cause loud jack hammer noises, concrete grinding noises etc. Beach area is very noisy. Hotel room was smelly but the maintenance staff fixed the bathroom drain. Hotel cleanliness was good. Staff was responsive and very alert. Beach view was excellent. Bar was good.

Facilities and staff was amazing the only thing I wish they had more then one pool and a bar at the pool instead of going out the pool to get drinks. Also when they say all inclusive they don't mean it they leave some staff off the menus that you have to pay for. Staff is amazing an

Too many stairs..not enough resturaunt choices. Only one pool and water was HOT! No coffee shop in lobby. Esthetics of lobby outdated..pink and grey suede..ugghh! One oulet near bed..need more

No hot water, service was slow at the beach restaurant, fridge in the room does not work, building is outdated, rooms are not that nice compared to where I have stayed before. Lobby bar does not open until 6pm. You have to go to the pool bar to get drinks. The food at the Hibachie and Italian restaurant were fantastic. They put us in a room directly beneath a room that was being remodeled. Just imagine loud hammering noises being right above you. Thankfully they moved our rooms but we had to give up the Ocean view. The pool is nice but not enough chairs or space for guest to sit.

We booked a master suite with ocean view. It was a nice room overlooking the pool and had a full ocean view. We didn't like the fact that it had 7 stairs that you had to go down to get to the balcony. There was no handrail, so we were quite concerned about falling. The staff were all very friendly and courteous. Bernardo at the pool bar was excellent. There is only one pool at the resort and it only has maybe 24 loungers around it. People would put towels on the loungers quite early in the morning to reserve them. There are more loungers at the beach. It was easier to get a spot there. There are two ala carte restaurants. You can only reserve them the day before or day of before 2pm. They are also each closed two days a week. This was a bit frustrating as we were only able to get into each once during our 7 day stay. The resort has a lot of steps everywhere. From getting into the front entrance and everywhere outside. Some are quite steep and not all have handrails. There are handicap ramps but they are also quite steep and slanted. I would not recommend this resort to the elderly or handicapped. They are currently under renovation. There was constant noise all day from the construction and sometimes as late as 7pm. The lobby lounge doesn't open until 6pm. There are no shows in the evening however they have music and or karaoke starting at 9pm. I realize that we were there in what is considered off season. It could be different when busier.

Spa was good, staff is interactive Very limited resources No swim up bar so that can be a con Should be more alternatives for food especially for those who are in pool & beach for convenience. The deck lunch was very good and authentic Mexican food and there is a hot dog stand but an option on the beach or maybe a quick buffet somewhere else would be good. Beach had a lot of seaweed but that is not the resorts fault. Room service is not included in the price. Alcohol had a lot of options. The most bothersome thing about this resort is the construction that goes on directly over your room. It is very noisy and they start early so keep in mind that you may not be at ease sleeping in late. I’d give the resort a 3.5/5. There is quite a bite of stairs to go up and down from beach/pool to the main lobby and rooms. And the walkways are a bit tight but it is a small resort area. Just came back from a 4 day stay and was a little disappointed in several things. Good: 1. Beach is beautiful 2. Staff and service on beach is wonderful 3. Renting private beds and chairs on the beach was very cheap 40.00 a day. 4. Rooms are beautiful and large (ocean view) Bad: 1. Drinks are VERY watered down or cheap 2. The lobby bar isn’t open until 6pm and wasn’t open every night. 3. Limited food options. Very small buffets and could not get reservations to the specialty restaurants. 4. Staff at front desk wasn’t very friendly. 5. There is a dress code for men at all restaurants, even the buffet. 6. We are on the fifth floor and the elevator broke down for 24 hours.. I heard it’s an often thing here. No other option but to walk up 5 flights of stairs. 7. Not really any good night entertainment. 8. Lunch food was good and free but dinner buffet was terrible. We ate out two nights in town. 9. Our friends had the biggest room at the resort and the A/C only works if you are in the room and they did t have hot water. They did get moved to another room after creating a major scene. 9. Pool was hot and always loud music. Also very small 10. I do not recommend this place if you do not like to walk upstairs. Every building is separate and their stairs no matter where you go.Lots of them. even the entrance to get into the place has a ton of stairs. There are much better options in Cancun that the NYX. We frequent Cancun and I would not recommend this resort.

No. You had to go down to the pool bar to have a drink. Or wait till 6 PM for the little tiny bar to open in the lobby.

Disappointed from the moment we walked in. Smelled like mildew, outdated and dirty furniture. We were offered a 5th floor room with no access to an elevator.

When we got there, we had no signal. They put us in a dirty room, and when we asked when the signal would be fixed, they didn’t give us an answer — they just said they didn’t know. We spent the whole night without signal, and they only came to change our room the next day after 3 PM. It was such a difficult experience, one I never want to go through again.

Our room was magnificent. The food was amazing as were the speciality drinks. Staff were kind, welcoming and professional. They take a lot of pride in their work. The beach was beautiful. They clean it twice a day. There were plenty of loungers and hammocks on the beach and it was easy to get food and drinks on the beach. I recommend this resort highly.

Rooms were kept nice during our stay. Although it would probably be better with deeper bathroom cleaning in-between guests. Showers has some scum before we arrived. Service was perfect. Entertainment was well thought out. Food was perfect! Deck restaurant included a buffet along with a la carte menu which changed for dinner every night. Chianti Italian restaurant was a nice change. Umami Japanese was great! The teppanyaki was entertaining and sushi option never failed us. Will be returning.

The bar was stoced every day with 2 large bottles of still water, 2 sodas, and 2 corona beer cans. Room cleaned every day, towels changed every day, the room was spotless. We got a balcony view to the lagoon side, and we enjoyed the best Sunset views! Staff very polite, everyone saying Hello and smiling

Buena atención desde el check in, todo el personal siempre atentos y con buena actitud de servicio, la habitación limpia, bonita, ordenada y con una increíble vista a la laguna, tal cual como se ve en la fotos. Tienen una gran variedad de bebidas, la alberca siempre estuvo limpia y con variedad de actividades para realizar como yoga, voleibol, etc el acceso directo a la playa es práctico, tienen suficiente variedad de restaurantes como para probar diferentes platillos cada día además del bufet, nuestro preferido fue el servicio a la playa ya que el personal siempre está atento a llevarte bebida y comida a la carta hasta la comodidad de tu camastro. Sin duda completamente recomendado

The food was absolutely amazing. I’ve been to several different resorts and feel comfortable saying that. I like that it was a smaller resort because I just had surgery and didn’t want to do a lot of walking so that is perfect. The beds were comfortable. The staff was super nice. The only thing I didn’t like which is in any resort is the pool gets so hot I think all resorts need to find a way to cool the pool Other than that 10 out of 10

This was one of the nicest resorts I've been to in Cancun. The staff are amazing and attentive, friendly and outgoing. The food choices were plenty and having a different theme every night was fun. Lots of options whether you go to the buffet or order off the menu. We went during the off season for dental work and really enjoyed recovering here. The only downfall for me was that there were a lot of stairs to get into the hotel as well as down to the restaurant and beach areas and I have bad knees.

I really liked the Hotel NYX. Me and my husband stayed there for 5 days and really enjoyed the staff, food, and location. The breakfast was superb with lots of options and the staff by the people consistently kept us entertained with games, music, and activities. Everyone was very helpful and the food at all the restaurants was superb. They also made good drinks and the location right by the beach was great!

A Wonderful Stay at Hotel NYX – Cancun’s Hidden Gem We spent seven nights at Hotel NYX in Cancun from June 24 to July 1 and couldn’t have been more pleased. The hotel is on the smaller side, which made it feel more peaceful and personal—no big crowds, just relaxed, comfortable vibes. Our room was spotless and well-maintained, and the entire property was exceptionally clean. The on-site restaurant had a different theme night every evening—Italian, Mexican, Chinese, American, and more—which kept meals interesting. The wood-fired pizzas were a huge hit with the teenagers in our group! Don’t miss Chianti Restaurant on the property—it’s an absolute standout. We had the best Italian food there since our trip to Naples, Italy. Truly authentic and delicious. The staff made the stay extra special. The bellmen were always friendly and helpful, and the front desk team, especially Maika, went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Even when we had a small maintenance issue, it was handled quickly and professionally. The housekeeping crew was cheerful and kind, always greeting us with smiles. A special thanks to the lifeguards, who were not only attentive but lifesavers—literally. We witnessed them rescue a woman caught in a rip current. Please take the red flags on the beach seriously. One lifeguard, Elias, even took time to teach the teenagers in our group how to safely respond if caught in a rip tide. That kind of care and attention is rare and truly appreciated.

We had to pay for a room upgrade because we didn’t want to walk up 4 flights of stairs every time to reach our room. My husband has bad knees and that was not disclosed. The wait staff didn’t have very many fluent English speakers. They would pretend they knew what we asked and bring us the wrong thing all of the time. We won’t stay there again

The staff and service was excellent! Unfortunately, our room ceiling fell through and leaked water on the bed and on the floor - they repaired it that day but it started to leak again, we had to stay in the same room. Also, the construction at the resort is out of control - they work very early and extremely late at night, our sleep the entire trip was disrupted. So sad. Aside from those issues, the beach was great, the staff again, were so kind. We’d try the NYX again, but maybe a few years from now when construction is resolved.

Slept on the couch first night since the hotel forgot to add second bed to our room(!) Last night the air conditioner failed and we had to sleep in a hot and humid room, no solutions provided for neither one, none of these problems are acceptable for a hotel. Too loud music till midnight you can hear from 3rd floor, not for families, the beach was full of seaweeds, hardly could swim.

The only downside was the traffic noise facing the lagoon, the patio doors let a lot of noise in, was hard to sleep. Everything else was beautiful about the hotel and you can walk to the corner stores easily.

The food could have been so much better. The view was spectacular! The room was beautiful, spacious, and modern, although no water pressure in the shower made that experience uncomfortable.

There was no electricity in the room for 2 days. When we went to reception they said its an external issue. Didn’t get any compensation for it. 3 days of no WIFI in the room. Staff kept saying they are fixing it but never did. No stairs or accessibility in certain areas of the hotel. Staff was always watching you very hard, sometimes making us uncomfortable

The hotel itself was nicer than I had imagined it and the upgrade to a suite overlooking the ocean was not expected! The staff were all friendly and the food was quite good. I’m not really a beach person, but I could see that the beach could get bit crowded due to the size of the property. We stayed in Cancún two nights after a holiday in Mérida because the homeward flights are better out of Cancún, and this was just a bit of luxury before flying out.

People would put towels on the loungers quite early in the morning to reserve them. There are more loungers at the beach. It was easier to get a spot there. There are two ala carte restaurants. You can only reserve them the day before or day of before 2pm. They are also each closed two days a week. This was a bit frustrating as we were only able to get into each once during our 7 day stay. The resort has a lot of steps everywhere. From getting into the front entrance and everywhere outside. Some are quite steep and not all have handrails. There are handicap ramps but they are also quite steep and slanted. I would not recommend this resort to the elderly or handicapped. They are currently under renovation. There was constant noise all day from the construction and sometimes as late as 7pm. The lobby lounge doesn't open until 6pm. There are no shows in the evening however they have music and or karaoke starting at 9pm. I realize that we were there in what is considered off season. It could be different when busier.

The resort was great, but it was small. Very little space to go if it were to rain. Not much entertainment and very little to do in the evening. We enjoyed how quiet the guests were tho. Friends of ours we traveled with were upgraded to a great room in the tower, while we were in the lower level by the cleaning staff storage. The room was clean, but it had no bathroom door and was extremely small. The TV only had lg channels and was not hooked to the cable like the rest of the resort. On a very positive note though, my room was decorated beautifully for my birthday. I was shocked. No one told the staff, they must have figured it out from my reservation. I was definitely surprised.

We booked 1 King Bed with 398 sqft but the staff downgraded us and positioned it as an “upgrade” to ocean view, while the actual room was really tiny with only 100+ sqft; it was just a double bed and smelly, let along it was just partial ocean view and the balcony doors couldn't function. Eventually we got the right room back but had to carry huge luggage all the way down from the 5th floor (no elevator) and across buildings. When we just arrived, the concierge kept pushing services even when we told him we were starving and tired. Nights were super loud with shows going until midnight, so make sure you bring earplugs. That said, I’m still giving credit that the staff are very friendly and patient. I saw the manager was onsite every day which was appreciated. The two restaurants serve great food. They had loud construction going on during our stay so make a note of that if you plan to book this place in the next 2-3 months.

The resort was clean and the staff was friendly. The only complaint was the strong pressure almost daily to listen to an hour and a half talk ( time share presentation) in exchange for extra services. The pressure to sell us that was so intense we tried to find ways to sneak past the front entrance just to avoid getting pressured again.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! This was the worst hotel experience of my life! I’ve stayed at hostels in developing countries with better customer service and significantly better cleanliness. Our experience at this hotel started off promising but quickly turned into a series of frustrating mishaps. Upselling tactics began immediately, with one staff member attempting to push my friend into a "better" room that was actually worse. Fortunately, there was a helpful staff member who stepped in to provide a proper upgrade. The aggressive upselling continued when we met Alfredo from the concierge team. He made inappropriate comments, admitted to being on drugs, and harassed my friend. He also misled us into attending a vacation club seminar by promising a complimentary hibachi dinner and oceanfront cabanas—none of which were honored. When we tried to redeem these perks, we faced miscommunication and outright denial from the staff, culminating in an embarrassing public confrontation with the Guest Experience Manager, Andrea Ugalde. The lack of coordination among staff, broken promises, and poor customer service made our stay incredibly frustrating. Despite an apology from the hotel’s Director, the failures continued, making this one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. Rooms were dirty and smelled like mold. Ordered room service that was never delivered. Highly advise to stay elsewhere!

WARNING: We were detained in the lobby at checkout while staff insisted on waiting for housekeeping to inspect our room for “damage or theft.” No other guests were treated this way. The experience was humiliating, felt like profiling, and was completely unprofessional. Avoid if you expect respectful service.

Everything was very good. The only thing to say is the sales persons was annoying offering packages. Be more respectful with the guests

Great experience at NYX Cancun, all staff very friendly, awesome service and just feels like you're in Paradise. Special shout out to the receptionist Eyjena (not sure if spells like that) but she made sure we had a great experience, thank you very much. We had an amazing time at Hotel NYX!!! The staff was so friendly and helpful, the food (especially the Umami restaurant) was great, the hotel was nice and clean and our room with an ocean view was stunning. Juan, one of the beach servers was fantastic and the front desk staff was so welcoming when we arrived. We had a lovely romantic weekend and would love to return again.

This was our first stay at the NYX. Its a small resort with great food, but not alot of dining options. Only a few bars, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. The thing that we didnt like was constantly being approached in the lobby by staff trying to get us to sit in on a timeshare presentation. This always ruins our experience with hotels in mexico. Especially after a long day of travel and just wanting to get to our room to offload our luggage and get changed. In order to get our cards for the beach towels, they make you meet the timeshare pusher in the lobby, who will give u your cards.

This would have been a solid 5* review all day, if not for construction noises - hotel and next door property construction seriously impacts the relaxing and otherwise wonderful beach experience. Thankfully, we couldn't hear it in-room. Another issue we run into was the maintenance crew that just invited themselves to our room while my wife was in the shower - quite a shocker for her. Hotel staff was apologetic about the incident, but it did leave a bad aftertaste...

Beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. Noisy the first night from a wedding until late. Food was good. Plenty of choice. Beds were very comfortable. Limited space by the pool. Overall a good place to be on the beach.

Great location at a great price

Very nice hotel in a very good area where everything is close.

The property and staff were great. The room decor was a bit off. Our room was pretty big and certainly could have held two chairs, just a place to sit other than the bed would be nice. Several properties surrounding the immediate area seemed to be vacant and in disrepair, not the fault of NYX, just sad to see.

The staff were absolutely amazing and friendly. They really looked out for us and made sure we had an amazing stay. The location is amazing with the mall across the street and the Caribbean Sea is literally right there with an amazing beach

If you’re looking for a small resort right on the beach this place was awesome so relaxing great food awesome beach service perfect beach for riding waves. All of the staff gets a 10 from me. Super friendly short walk to the shops. we chose to face the lagoon which had great views WILL BE BACK !!!!

We were thrilled with our stay at NYX! The location was walking distance to La Isla mall, and the bus stop to travel to other areas of Cancun was right outside the hotel. Shopping and nightlife up the road was too far for ME to walk (but was only 5 minutes by bus or taxi). The breakfast buffet was excellent. The other meals were good too, but the breakfast was over and above. There was never a wait for a table for any meal, and we traveled during peak season. Oscar helped my daughter book a hair appointment at the spa and he was so kind, as was every staff member we encountered. Our refrigerator wasn't getting cold, so I notified the desk, and it was fixed in an hour. NYX was kept impeccably clean at all times by housekeeping, and everyone went over and above to make sure we had a great stay. They offered lots of activities too! We did pool Zumba with Stephanie who was a great instructor, we took a guacamole class, played pool in the lounge and even sang karaoke, all included in our stay. The ONLY thing needing improvement is the towel issue. The pool was open until 9 or 10pm depending on the night, but the towel booth closed at 6, so if you wanted to swim after 6 you couldn't get a towel. Each guest is only given one towel for a shower, so we didn't want to use them for the pool too. We will definitely be back because our stay was exceptional, but in the future please consider keeping the pool towel booth open until the pool closes.

We really enjoyed the food at this property. Probably some of the best I have had at an all-inclusive. The pool is small, but the beach made up for it. Beautiful location, and great access to fun shopping, etc.

We had an amazing stay! Food was incredible, the Umami restaurant was a real highlight. Staff were so lovely and made our stay unforgettable. Special shout out to the sports & entertainment team who organised so many fun activities!

The room and the staff was fantastic, the food was unfortunately not very good , not many vegetarian options as well , lunch is in the restaurant and not buffet style like breakfast and dinner are , there are theme nights however most of the food is exactly the same , to note the desserts especially pastries are yes not good for you but well worth the taste while your on vacation mode it’s ok to indulge a little , biggest complaint with food is too much salt , but other then the food , the property and grounds and location are excellent exactly like the pictures , it’s clean and quiet , guests are respectful and friendly, they attract a great clientele, the food was the biggest let down .

Staff was super nice, accommodating, and understanding. They helped with everything my partner and I were confused about, and we are some shy people so they helped us out a lot. They have 3 areas to dine: The deck, Umami, Chianti & Tacos Villanos and all were delicious. While the deck was more buffet like, the food was good for the amount there was and for it being resort food. However, Umami and Chianti had amazing food and a really good selection, each time my partner and I went we left with a stuffed stomach. The great thing about these places is that if we stayed a certain amount of days we were able to get free dinner, since we stayed 2 weeks we had 3 days at chianti & 2 at Umami. Umami has hibatchig which the reservation is needed for, or you can just go in to the sushi bar and eat, most things on that menu are all included. Tacos villanos were really good too but we paid out of pocket, which was more than fine for us considering all the free food we were getting. The housekeeping staff was kind to call and even slip a paper under our door to see if we wanted our room clean, and they were quick to come and clean. The area around the hotel was beautiful and walkable, we never felt unsafe. I would recommend this hotel to people who have never been to cancun. 10/10

Stayed in the Sunset Suite. Some things fell short of expectations, but we made the most of our stay with patience and gratitude. Room was not greeted with champagne or chocolate-covered strawberries as advertised. Bathroom sinks clogged and didn’t drain; shower was slow to drain. Toilet clogged—maintenance came only after a second call and still flushed slowly. No conditioner provided, just shampoo, shower gel, and lotion. Mini fridge wasn’t restocked after maid service—we had to request it. Room phones didn’t work to dial out; we had to go to the front desk. Room door jammed often—key card worked, but door stuck. Deck Restaurant was a highlight—10/10! The food was delicious, and the fish was our favorite. Staff were kind and welcoming. No sleeveless shirts allowed for men. Beach service was 8/10—took 30 mins to be approached; had to wave someone down later. Umami requires formal attire—no flip-flops or sandals (including Birkenstocks). We arrived at 10:45 PM (closes at 11:30), but only the sushi bar was open and we were denied service due to sandals. Didn’t dine there or at Chianti. At check-in, we were offered an upgrade we already booked via Expedia. Later, a staff member offered ATVs/timeshares—we declined. Club reps and photographers frequently approached us—we politely declined. Some inconveniences, but still a good experience overall. Beautiful location, friendly staff, just be aware of strict dress codes and minor maintenance issues.

The staff and amenities was amazing. The only reason we didn't rate it 5 stars was because the food wasn't that great for a 4 stat hotel. Breaking buffet was the best food of all the meals we had. The Deck lunch, snack, and dinner was Meh and the Teppanyaki was cooked so slow and taste was okay. The alcohol drinks was good but there was times the drinks did not taste good so we had to exchange it. Othed than that, the staff are all so nice, professional. They put a birthday banner on our door, balloons on our ned, provided small cake, and Champagne for my husband's birthday it was such a wonderful surprise. They have ALOT of stairs, this is not a handicap friendly place fyi. Spa was AMAZING. I'd stay here again with hopes the food is better next time.

First day. I dont understand the positive reviews. Absolutely nothing special. Beach chairs are terrible, beach sargoso is not treated, food is average, "upscale" restaurants think they can require formal attire, drinks take forever and beer is warm. If you want something other than modelo, its extra. Service is below average of other resorts. Last day- Final thoughts are not much different than the first day. By Day 3, we gave up on eating in the hotel. The food was just pretty terrible at all times and days. The beach was plowed everyday after the first so we did have a nice beach day on the last day.
