2023 and 2024: Excellent - 5 Stars 2025: Disappointing - 2 Stars Unfortunately, the pools are no longer heated, making them quite cold and less enjoyable. This is a significant letdown compared to our previous visits in 2023 and 2024 when we could comfortably use the pool until 10 PM. The pool area is deserted almost all day, with rarely more than four people in either pool due to the cold water, creating a rather dull atmosphere. The beautiful bar and Le Cap restaurant are also empty, likely because the pools are so uninviting. I've included a photo showing just one person in the pool, despite the 90-degree air temperature. This is a missed opportunity for the hotel and quite disappointing. Additionally, the property is currently dealing with a severe ant infestation, both around the pool areas and in the beach sand. It's advisable to keep your feet off the ground near the pool and avoid the sand at the beach.

Lovely small hotel on a great beachside location. The hotel has amazing friendly staff who all had a smile. Our rooms 604 and 608 were on the top floor of the low rise part of the hotel with access to the club lounge which included complementary cooked breakfast and evening cocktails and snacks - our teen age son made the most of this! The hotel was full but felt uncrowded with beach beds being available all of the time. The spa service is excellent as was the 24hr gym although it was quite small. There are 2 restaurants which had ok food but great views onto the beach. The beach is lovely and the sea had a small amount of seagrass. Small amount of fish - I do wish the hotel would place a few large rocks out on the sea bed to attract fish and marine life. Our rooms were large with a nice ensuite. The balcony overlooked the sea. Only negatives are at check in there was poor communication or language problems and we had to have temporary rooms for 2 of the 7 nights at the hotel. They did however put us up in thr presidential suite which is huge and very nice. We did feel they did their best to accommodate us under the circumstances and genuinely felt like they were keen to keep guests happy. It’s an old hotel and feels like you are somewhere which has aged well and was an oasis of peace and relaxation while other hotels around it would be super busy. Finally best thing about the hotel is that they keep the pool open till 10pm often longer so it was a popular spot.

We recently stayed here for 8 days and just arrived back home. The hotel has the best beach in the hotel zone. Two great pools with 3 jacuzzi's and an onsite restaurant. Staff is very attentive, especially Antonio Bandera in the restaruant for breakfast. We chose to add the breakfast package with our stay and we miss it already! Such good food. Dinner was meh and we opted to eat elsewhere. The hotel is older, built in 1975. However, it is clean and well maintained. One thing we really appreciated, was the falcon that the hotel hired to be in standby, to keep the birds from stealing your food or bothering guests. We had such a great time. If you're looking for an awesome beach experience with great pools, clean room and hotel, along with a chill vibe, this is your place!

The beach at this property was stunning...beautiful white sand, calm crystal clear blue water and plenty of loungers available. I also liked it being quiet, there was no loud music blairing at any time. The property itself was very nice too. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The hotel was super clean including the rooms. Service was top notch too. The restaurants are very expensive, especially for people who make Canadian dollars but this reflects prices in Cancun in general. The kids club seemed like an after thought rather than a feauture of the property as it was empty when I visited and there was supposed to be planned activities for the kids.

The lobby when you first walk in (and every time you are in it) smells bad. The shower temperature regulator did not work or there is a problem with their water supply. Was truly hard to shower as the temp would randomly fluctuate on its’ own from cold to scalding hot without notice.

It all seemed great on-site and we had a nice time, but I realized I had small red spots on my skin on our final day. I saw my doctor the day I returned home to be checked out and was diagnosed with BEDBUG BITES!! I messaged the property to tell them and they have ignored me. I am disgusted. Do not go there!!

Here for 2 nd time . Hotel was great , great services , room clean but need some improvements. Biggest concern for us is the air conditioning is not cold it is high as 22.5 F at the coldest . But it is still not cold enough for the hot weather outside. The maintenance “ Try to fixed “ but still same temperature . We asked again bout the air conditioning so at the end the give us the fan to use . It shouldn’t a problem but it is . Room is clean but in general is ok .

I enjoyed everything including staff, food, and property the beach was the best view, pool clean and great high. Staff very friendly and helpful. I dislike that there was no self service laundromat, the black out curtains aren’t helpful.

Location was ok. The room was ok. After and during shower, water will flow from ceiling in the bathroom and in the toilet. Take note, it’s not leak, it’s flowing down from the ceiling. The whole area outside the shower area including the toilet will be flooded. This happened 2 days before departure. We didn’t bother to inform them. Won’t be back for sure

Water from the shower was either scolding or too cold. Maintenance folks could not fix it. Surprise resort fees were added that were supposedly included in the Expedia total. When I cheched in, they asked for the usual credit card hold amount; however it was not a hold charge for a real charge for $700. When I checjed out, they charged me again for the incidentals instead of deducting thise from the original "hold charge". They said the "hold" charge would be refunded in about 10-12 days. In sumnary, this hotel is a total financual abuse.

The first day isn’t good We have a room right beside the street and the soundproofing is very bad. I can hear every noise from outside. First thing of the next morning I went to the reception to ask for room switch and get a fast upgrade which saved our vocation!

I’ve never felt more let down by a hotel stay. The reviews promised a perfect end to our trip to Mexico, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Our bags never arrived in the room despite being told they would be delivered. After several calls and mixed messages, they finally appeared much later. We also asked to borrow an umbrella and were told none were available, even though the concierge had given two to another couple just minutes earlier. Breakfast service was equally poor — the server seemed uninterested and made us feel like an inconvenience. At check-in, we were advised to ask about a day-use room before our evening flight, only to be told at checkout that no such option existed. When I shared my feedback, it was met with a blank stare. Overall, the service was indifferent and unwelcoming — a real disappointment at the end of what had been a wonderful trip.

We wouldn’t normally stay in a “brand” hotel but this was a fantastic experience. Sure the hotel is fab, I cannot fault any of it. Great food, facilities and what an incredible location. However, it is the staff that made this really special. Particularly the team at the beach bar. Thank you Mariam, Mario and Diego so welcoming. Best hotel bar staff ever!!! (And we have met a few). I am sure we will return.

Everything here is amazing and serene, from a white powdery beach, excellent food and drinks, great location, great room accommodations and the best staff and services I have experienced in a long time! Adrian from the front desk, Paulina and Fidel from the concierge desk, Ruben on the beach and every staff altogether at the restaurants and housekeeping are exemplary and absolutely fantastic, thank you! Another huge thank you goes out to Kristel from the Ikal Spa which provided the best massages ever and cannot wait to go back! The atmosphere and environment is by far the most relaxing experience and will appeal to all your senses!

The check-in process was smooth. I had booked a room with complimentary breakfast and a $50 USD room credit. The hotel was great, super extra clean with amazing location 15mins walk to the strip of restaurants and bars. Breakfast was very good. Bed and pillows are insanely comfortable. Check in desk staff should be a bit more welcoming as they seem very disinterested in you. Would have been great if there was any entertainment in the resort. All in all it’s recommended!

We have been staying at the intercontinental for over twenty years. Sadly, the quality of the food has declined so badly that we only found one dish that was safe to eat. We love the staff and the beach (best in Cancun) but the food problem is getting unbearable.

We recently stayed here for 8 days and just arrived back home. The hotel has the best beach in the hotel zone. Two great pools with 3 jacuzzi's and an onsite restaurant. Staff is very attentive, especially Antonio Bandera in the restaruant for breakfast. We chose to add the breakfast package with our stay and we miss it already! Such good food. Dinner was meh and we opted to eat elsewhere. The hotel is older, built in 1975. However, it is clean and well maintained. One thing we really appreciated, was the falcon that the hotel hired to be in standby, to keep the birds from stealing your food or bothering guests. We had such a great time. If you're looking for an awesome beach experience with great pools, clean room and hotel, along with a chill vibe, this is your place!

The beach at this property was stunning...beautiful white sand, calm crystal clear blue water and plenty of loungers available. I also liked it being quiet, there was no loud music blairing at any time. The property itself was very nice too. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The hotel was super clean including the rooms. Service was top notch too. The restaurants are very expensive, especially for people who make Canadian dollars but this reflects prices in Cancun in general. The kids club seemed like an after thought rather than a feauture of the property as it was empty when I visited and there was supposed to be planned activities for the kids.

As a five star hotel the Intercontinental Presidente Cancun resort is alright but not to the level you expect for five stars: upon arrival there was no bottled water in the room, something that is standard in Mexico. We had to ask for it and wait for someone to bring some bottles. The curtains are simple roller blinds that don't block much light. No blackout curtains so you will wake up with the sunrise at 6 AM. The elevator feels like a service elevator (we seriously though we were in the wrong elevator for a moment): small, ugly, and clunky with a noisy fan. The AC in the room kept starting and stopping with a 10 seconds interval on-off-on-off. I booked and paid for an Ocean View room: the view was the roof of a building with a sliver of ocean half a mile away (I complained and they said that in their system this was marked 'ocean view' but they did offer 20% discount on a spa treatment). We were only there for one night, our last night in Mexico; I won't be staying there again.

Beautiful beach area. Great food in Le Cap and the breakfast was amazing. Too many birds on the tables though... We got a room with bad sea view and they changed it for us to a better room... but that one was a bit stinky and had a problem with the bathroom door and the shower. Staff is very slow and you sometimes have to ca reception twice for the same thing.
