New Wilmington Hotel

Lovely hotel very close to the seaside. Excellent service. We got our room upgraded for free. Freshly cooked tasty breakfast. Cheap parking. Definitely recommend.

Very clean and comfy room, facilities were nice and was great for a single night stay. Disappointed with the parking as was advertised as secure parking, yet I was guided to park in the middle of a set of storage units at the back of the hotel. Staff were friendly and hotel looked well kept, nice location too.

I would recommend this hotel if you dont mind stairs and dont need any help from the staff. There is a lift but there are still so many stairs and long corridors. They were prewarned I was disabled getting to and from our 2 double bedded family room (which was nice, clean, quiet) with 2 young children, pushchair and luggage was awful. Not once would they offer to help, even watched us struggling! Steps up to the front reception. Steps down to the lift. Many sets of stairs up to the room ( 1 had stair lift which we had to lift the pushchair over) long corriders. Exhausted we were happy to see the clean family room with 2 comfy double beds and a large bathroom. Very welcomed. Tv in room but reception awful, couldnt watch it. We booked this hotel for the Air show and the parking which was at the back of the hotel, garages £15 a night. I eventually was allowed to park by the garages which was easier for my disabilities. Make crystal clear in a email your requirements. I paid a whopping £155 for 1 night (Airshow price) so i did expect a little welcome and help. Expedia didnt help with thier invoice system The hotel was very convenient as ran parallel to the centre of the flight display 5min walk which was fantastic. Lots of restaurants, cafes etc etc close by.

Well situated hotel that has undergone a lot of work recently. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely breakfast cooked fresh to order. There are lifts but there are also mezzanine floors which result in some short flights of stairs. Comfortable bed.

Visited Eastbourne for the tennis tournament and the hotel was nearby. The Towner gallery, good restaurants and the seafront were also round the corner. The layout of the hotel was labyrinthine, but our room was comfortable, clean and quiet, and the staff were very helpful.

Property was still under construction when we arrived which was problematic for us given the young age of our children. Management and staff were very accomodating and did their best to resolve issues. Once all work is complete the hotel will be a really lovely place to stay given its great location and super friendly owners!

This has to be one of the worst places I have stayed in a long time. The check in desk closes at 10pm, why did it not mention that when booking the hotel - I travelled 5 hours to get their and so had to reschedule meetings to get their in time. The breakfast does not start till 9am on a WEEK DAY! My first meeting was at 9am, I paid for breakfast but could not have it.

The room was spacious with TV and suitable size bath room comfortable bed helpful staff. Its really close proximity to Eastbourne beach . I did not like that hotel is old style and had no air conditioning

The hotel was quite tired, but the staff were very willing. The kitchen closed, apparently, last week but a cooked breakfast was available. The bar looked nice but the barman had failed to turn up! The remaining staff tried their best but they didn’t recognise drinks and a very limited choice was available. Also for nuts and crisps… Still they tried… However, it was easy walking distance to the tennis - the purpose of our stay!

This is more a YMCA than a Hotel, full of Students. Half eaten Pizza in stairwell. Empty bottles left on landings. Receipts tucked into Fire hydrants. Under the bed was full of rubbish. Hotel has a lift, which you go down a flight of stairs too, also only two rooms per floor accessible from lift on each floor, you had to climb a steep flight of steps to get to all other rooms. They had chair lifts, which were not working. Bathroom looked like it had recently been decorated to the ceiling, but paint all over the floor. Window sills needed painting. Windows dirty. Brick dust under TV. You can park in road if you pay for a £2.20 permit per day. Parking is otherwise restricted to 4 hours, no return within 4 hours. We stayed 2 nights, first night kids running up and down stairs, noisy until after midnight, then an argument broke out at 12:30 and continued until just after 2:30. We complained. Was told it was a family!!!! Next night the same so both myself and another lady told them to keep quiet ( it was the students). Hotel needs lots of TLC, very run down Only good thing we can say, is the breakfast was good staff were friendly. Would I stay there again NO! Expedia should withdraw from advertising this place in our opinion.

Good clean hotel

One of the grossest hotels I've ever stayed in. The bathroom wasn't washed, the furniture was a collection of old crap thrown together, window was open so bugs everywhere, shower head rusted and green... Urgh. Took 15min to get anyone's attention for breakfast. Really not recommended.

The curtains were too short for the window. No coffee pods for the machine Bathroom was dirty Towels smelt like kitchen grease

Stay for 3 people: medium-sized room, I would say small for so many people. There is coffee/tea in the room, a kettle but only 2 cups. The bathroom with a shower is large, there is no toilet paper, there is garbage on the floor behind the door. In the room, the cupboard with hangers was all dusty inside, so you could write on the shelf. I go to the window to close it for the night, and the handle turns in every direction, the window cannot be closed (I think the latch is broken), there is a gap of at least 7 cm when the window is fully tightened. There is no information about breakfast from the staff, I found it on the Internet. Modest breakfast, portions calculated, we take English breakfast and what? Everything was served practically cold, the toast was warmer than the rest....

DONT STAY HERE ! been reported to trading standards etc !!! Read below ! Black mould and brown sludge in kettle Toilet door handle broken Tv didn’t work No light bulb in light, then they replaced and light didn’t turn off, lights went of in bathroom defiantly a electrical issue in the room ! Blood on pillow case Toilet seat broken Extractor fan didn’t work Breakfast was cold Receptionist was rude and no apology on the room. Have reported to citizens advice, health and safety and trading standards who are now dealing with this DONT STAY HERE !!!

Nothing to like , the hotel was dirty , dust everywhere, breakfast was a joke , ordered pot of tea on arrival , pot of tea never arrived until the crap breakfast was eaten , avoid this hotel it is rubbish , staff lie to you , rooms are nothing like the description given , only stayed 1 night of the 2 nights booked and awaiting a refund off expedia as hotel stated they would notify expedia of our short stay and refund 1 night B&B ..

I have to say the hotel is very dirty. Black mould in the bathrooms. Water stains on the ceilings. Curtains torn and falling off the windows. Toilet seat broken. Shower and taps a very dirty. Walls have marks all over the place. Wall paper is coming off. None of the photos on the website is accurate at all.

Service is good. But the room is not very clean which the sofa chairs in the room is not clean.

Room dirty, sink needed scrubbling, table in room covered in dried liquid, and amenity tray covered in brick type dust, door covered in building work dust that had been wiped, hairs in bed, curtains did not close, room we ended up with still not great, Took much time and wasted time trying to get a room clean, second room still not great and 3rd ok but still not clean, old scratched furniture, and TV did not work well. Breakfast served cold hash brown, cheap nasty sausage deep fried, chewy unsmoked bacon and cheap budget range cereal, warm juice and milk weird, lights flickering so much in restaurant hurt eyes, and felt like Halloween, carpet in room old and manky, all just horrible, told beds and laundry are clean, repeatedly however if this is the case whoever is making beds needs hair net, it is appalling - single bed for child wobbly as well, they are not ready to be open, and I felt dismayed that no checks had been made - who hangs a curtain half way on the window leaves the other half falling off and expects anyone to sleep?

The bed was so uncomfortable we couldn’t sleep. It also had a musty moldy smell like it had been very wet. Because we were on the top floor it got to be unbearably hot, which definitely made the smell worse.

Convenient to the beach and town center. The WiFi is good with strong signal. The shower water flow is good. The breakfast service needs improvement.

Really attentive staff. Stayed in a newly refurbished room on the top floor facing into the town. Road was quiet so slept well. Breakfast was rather basic outside of the cooked option, which was tasty. Overall, a really good choice for the price. Would definitely return is we’re ever in Eastbourne again.

we were disappointed with the room, it was not one room i booked. But it got sorted, we got moved to right room. TV wasn't working completely, bad reception and could only watch a few channels. There was no tea/coffee machine as advertised. there was no plug for the bath. No glasses and no water as advertised. The emergency evacuation information was in a draw, not on the back off the door. There was was no hotel information in the room. Breakfast was OK and breakfast staff were very good.

Breakfast was awful staff rude

The staff were very nice but they seemed to need training, e.g. no basic info given on check in, didn't know area. The room and bathroom were very basic, and seemed worn. The toilet was disgustingly stained, no flannels, no loo roll holder but dangerous brackets still sticking out etc. Really disappointing for a 3:* that cost £175 for 1 night. Breakfast also not up to scratch. Definitely would not recommend. Sorry.

The property itself has clearly had some work done on it. The room was clean and well presented. Customer service could be improved upon. Breakfast was okay however, the gentleman taking orders was in his outdoor coat and on occasion not all breakfast was delivered to the table clearly forgotten about.

Good location

It's well situated fot the Theatre, easy walking distance, close to the sea front, the hotel was reasonably priced, it was more than adequate for one night, bathroom clean and tidy, the bed comfortable, everything was to hand. I have paid a lot more for far worse. Would i stay again, a big fat YES.

Nice hotel, reasonable breakfast and great location

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, I had a rather disappointing experience. Here are some of the issues I encountered: 1. Insufficient number of towels: The number of towels provided in the room was not adequate. 2. Shampoo bottles not replenished: The shampoo bottles were not refilled, which was quite inconvenient. 3. Shower room quality: The shower water did not get hot enough, making it uncomfortable to shower. 4. Room cleanliness: The cups provided in the room were clearly not cleaned properly. 5. Breakfast quality: While the full breakfast was decent, the overall service and other aspects were quite disappointing. other customers looked unhappy eigher. 6. Television issues: The television remote control was missing, and I couldn’t turn on the TV manually, so we were unable to watch television. 7. Lack of room phone: Since there was no phone in the room, we had to go to the front desk whenever we needed anything, which led us to give up on several requests. 8. Review discrepancy: The reviews posted here indicated a rating above 8.0, but after staying, I doubt the accuracy of those reviews given my experience. My family and I were all dissatisfied with our stay, however, the location is very good, and the parking fees are reasonable.

Nice clean sheets and towels but the carpet had some old hair ball, nothing major really, probably just not picked up by the hoover. However, all staff were super nice, smiley and helpful. Breakfast was very good and non-greasy. Would stay again as very quite street and literally by the sea front..

A very good hotel. Excellent position with the sea front and town centre within easy walking distance. The Hotel is clean and well-presented and has undergone significant redecoration since reopening in May 2024. We found the staff to be very welcoming and always helpful. We stayed in a superior room which was well furnished and comfortable. We found the breakfast to be very good including hot and cold options all using quality produce, anything that was not right was willingly replaced. we had read previous negative reviews and were worried about what we might find but based on our experience we have no complaints about the hotel. Being regular travellers to Eastbourne we will have no hesitation in staying at this hotel again.

Very disappointed with our stay. Looked at all the reviews before booking. I am now wondering if the reviews are real. The hotel staff didn't seem to have a clue when it came to customer relations. The hotel reception was dark and the receptionist was constantly on her mobile phone. There was no secure parking as advertised. The bar didn't have lemonade or bottled water and when asked for a drink the staff looked at you blankly. The breakfast was limited and when it did arrive it was cold and tasted stale. The evening meal was the same meal all week. Such a shame as it has such potential. We ended up going to the hotel next door for a drink.
