Colwick Hall Hotel

Not a lot of choice in Nottingham and thought this hotel would be better than it was & felt it had a mournful feel when approaching the reception. Hotel room had some character, has plenty of parking and nice walks around the river but they host wedding events and we requested a quiet room in advance so this didn’t disrupt us. The manager explained there wasn’t a lot they can do as they heavily advertise weddings and was left feeling these events took priority over standard residents bookings - ask about events before booking first /average

Good stay, as always. Real shame the EV chargers have gone. One of the reasons we choose Colwick Hall

Stunning property, with some beautiful rooms, lovely grounds, and good food in the restaurant. Easy parking, which is just as well as the property is a little isolated.

Very good hotel, recently modernized to a good standard but in keeping with the building. Restaurant was decent. Well priced when I stayed in a Tuesday night.

Room and bathroom massive,there was a wedding on but we were out until late and went quiet quickly. Easy for Uber taxis.

The property is beautifully decorated and our room very comfortable. Walking around the grounds was easy and it was very pretty along the lake side. It does front on to the racecourse which was a surprise but we wanted to be outside the main town so it suited us well. Breakfast and dinner were very nice but a little bit pricey. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help with enquiries.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Fast service at reception and bar. Beautiful location. Gardens and large patio area. Both room and bathroom were large and airy. Just one down side our bedroom only had a tiny window which made it dark and no view - it obscured by concrete breeze blocks supporting the roof structure. All that being said, the location was perfect for work, access to river, golf courses and race course and I would recommend it and stay her again. There were large functions on both nights at the hotel but the noise did not travel to the rooms at all.

Its was nice place to stay, but unfortunately its was an event in the hotel and was very loud music antil 11pm.

First impressions weren’t great. We were carrying our luggage up to the doors and a member of staff came ahead of us and promptly let the big outside door swing shut in our faces as we approached! Reception was empty and after 30 seconds the manager appeared and finished a phone call quickly to deal with us. The room was on the second floor and there was no lift. We were in the attic with an obstructed view of the car park & the racecourse behind. We noticed the towels on the radiator looked very messy, almost as if they were used so I went back down to the manager who brought us up fresh ones a short while later. That said it had everything we needed with a good selection of tea, coffee, water, tissues etc and for £55 it was very good value. The shower over the bath worked well and the towels were a good size. We’d happily stay again although not in that room due to the obstructed view.

not clean; rooms and bed sheets dirty - stained and dusty; broken cupboards in bathroom; mould around bathroom windows. restaurant poor quality and overpriced and not very clean tables and general condition of restaurant. very expensive for what is being offered.

Room wasn’t clean the bed sheets had stains on it and same with the bath robe which was not washed properly. Very poor quality breakfast for the price of £16.00. Toast fried in oil, low quality ingredients. .

This is not a four star hotel. 3 star at best. Tired, worn and lacking in modernity. Such a shame as the building is stunning.

Sadly on this instance Colwick Hall did not meet our expectations or their own standards. The level of cleanliness in both rooms (we switched rooms due to the complete lack of housekeeping in the first) was nothing short of abdominal I would like to think it was merely an oversight on behalf of the housekeeping team and the room (s) had been missed but there were stains/hairs on the bedding, thick dust and dead flies on surfaces and the bath robes were positively contagious! The receptionist did her best to resolve the issue by offering us an attentive room but the bedding issues remained in the second room so, now feeling positively grimy from our contact with said surfaces and bedding we had no choice but to leave and find alternative accommodation Having checked other reviews the cleanliness issue seems to only apply to the ‘Luxury suites’ It really is a beautiful location and the grounds are amazing so genuinely disappointed we could not stay Hopefully the above issues will be addressed and rectified, allowing all guests to enjoy such a beautiful venue I would just like to add the 6 days and escalation via Hotels.com required to resolve the issue only exacerbated our disappointment with the whole event

Arrival & First Impressions: The building is a striking historic property with a lovely approach, though the large blue “hotel” sign detracts from the grandeur. Inside, décor feels inconsistent—cow-print chairs alongside baroque and regency pieces—and generally tired. Night One – Signature Suite (Mozart): A huge room with a spacious bathroom and claw-foot tub. Unfortunately, mismatched modern fittings, dated carpet, and uneven flooring made it feel neglected. Cleanliness was the biggest issue: filthy robes, mould in the shower with weak pressure, and sealed windows leaving the room stifling. Breakfast (£16pp) was also disappointing—bland, low quality, and understaffed. Night Two – Luxury Suite (Beethoven): This was worse. The room was unclean: thick dust on furniture and hairdryer, dirty pillow, hairs on the bed, and multiple spiders. The floor felt damp, and though the bathroom was better, the shower was again mouldy. Having been at the wedding all day, we didn’t complain, but the state of the room was unacceptable and we checked out early. Overall: At best it feels tired, at worst unhygienic.

Unusual hotel. Probably how hotels should be. Nice bar and dining room. We had the Lord Byron suite. The room was massive and the the bathroom was as big as a normal hotel room. Nice grounds. I can imagine that if you stopped at a weekend and there was a function on the. It may be a little noisy. In all we enjoyed our visit and would return.

Another great 2 night stay at this lovely hotel and we were lucky enough to get the same room again which we love. The only downside is that it was very warm and with no air conditioning we had to leave the window open overnight and would prefer to have a fan supplied.

Terrible restaurant and bar service. Very unwelcoming at check in. Insisting on payment mid-meal I won’t be coming back

Historic connections, and appeal, "Old Money" ambience, Staff service: polite, personable, stylish, never familier, never condescending - simply correct. Exactly as you would wish in such an establishment.

What can you say basil fawlty is alive and well at this fine example of a rundown roach motel rude staff the hotel resembled state of abandonment on par with chernobyl avoid

My husband and I would like to recommend, in the highest terms, Sam, who seemed to be in charge of everything. She was cool, calm and extremely efficient. We were very impressed with her, from the fact that she changed our room so that we would be less disturbed by the inevitable functions that were on at the time of our stay, to remembering what we like to drink and being so cheerful and friendly at all times. She could not have been more helpful. Well done, Sam! You're a true asset to your employers!

Historic building that has been turned into a hotel. It is a beautiful location and building but not close to anything. Our room was very dark but that is the nature of this old building, so it is understandable.

We only stayed 1 night but would have happily stayed for more. Its a lovely old building and our room was huge. We required a taxi and the lady on the front desk could not have been more helpful when we needed to chase it. She didnt even ask if she could help...she just did it! As an EV owner I was pleased to see electric car charge points in the car park. Its a little way outside the city but its lovely and quiet and a taxi is only 10 mins...Indeed our Uber back late at night was only £7.

Chose the hotel as near the racecourse (about 15 minutes walk) which was the main purpose of our visit. Had dinner bed and breakfast. Breakfast was excellent although we thought dinner was ok but not special. Although thought the service was excellent. On arrival our room was made ready early so we could drop our bags and freshen up b4 the racing. Nice size suite room but could have done with a bigger bed plus the window shutters didn’t close properly letting in courtyard lights. However over all a very nice country hotel nicely refurbished in a nice more rural area. Staff were all very helpful and hotel good value for money. If in the area which definitely stay again.

A nice hotel in pleasant surroundings with friendly staff. However, the quality of the food was not great and overpriced for the standard of quality. We would certainly stay again, but would consider eating elsewhere.

Break was terrible, nearly £16 each for breakfast, ordered breakfast to be told get your own toast, eggs to follow!thought staff was incompetent

The hotel is stunning to look at upon arrival. The Hotel is clean and the staff are exceptional. The room we had (standard) was "olde-worldly" but functional. Decent sized bathrooms. The towels were not the best but clean and usable. Disappointed at the early closing of the restaurant and the inability to order food after 10:30-PM. The vegan breakfast was disappointing and bland (this is not a vegan restaurant, so went with the flow), but again the staff saved the day.

The staff are just great! Friendly and helpful. They made our stay. We had the astonishing Byron room. Magnificent This is an event hotel and we stayed on a quiet Sunday evening and had dinner in the restaurant. A good, well prepared meal.
