Leonardo Royal Hotel Oxford

Excellent service as I requested a happy birthday message to my husband and it turned out to be a few balloons, warm bday card in the room plus 2 free drinks at the bar. All staffs were friendly and helpful. Location is great, big car park £6 for 24hours parking. Bus to town is just outside. Breakfast was lovely, good range of choices, my daughter especially enjoyed the yogurt drinks and the mixed bowls. Swimming pool, sauna and steam room are small, but still able to enjoy for about 10 mins in the hot room during the 30 mins session. Must book in advance!! Whole environment is nicer than I expected with lovely staffs which gave us a pleasant stay.

No lift in our wing. Not well sound proofed and doors could only be closed by slamming. Very nice stuff, great room size, nice pool and good breakfast.

Great place to stay with easy access by bus to Oxford city Center. Good to have the use of pool sauna and steam room. No information given to me on arrival probably because I did online check in.

Nice hotel with good rooms and lovely comfortable foyer. Excellent breakfast. Unfortunate there is an extra charge for parking and a shame check out even on a Sunday is 11.00am rather than the 12 noon it was when it was Jury’s Inn

Breakfast choices were great. Nespresso machine in the room. Swimming pool was nice to have but very small. Could only fit 3 people in the sauna and steam room. They regulated this by a 30min slot booking system. Didn't like the frosted glass doors on the bathrooms in the rooms, looked great but not practical. If someone got up in the night to use the bathroom, they couldnt put the light on as it would flood the bedroom with light it was that bright! Overall a good stay, staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our 2 night stay in oxford.

No lift so oldies beware. It is an old massive accomodation building with complex layout and stairs that is a pain to lug your bags around. Clean 3 star hotel though that is nicely renovated inside the small rooms. Good gym inside. This is a exonomy hotel and You get what you pay for.

Booked 2 rooms for a few nights in this hotel for work for myself and a colleague. Hotel on the face of it is nice. However, when I got to my room there was a horrendous wet smell filling the room and the corridor. I complained to staff who asked “are you sure you didn’t spill something”. I thought it was just a damp smelling floor until I stepped into my colleagues room that smelled clean. Searching mine I found absolutely sopping carpet in the corner of the room and damp and mould around the windows. After refusing the room to to the front desk, they begrudgingly moved me to a not wet room. The conversation on the desk was that this room was known about - which adds insult to injury as they know this room is a damp health hazard but put me in there anyway. The second room they moved me too had a weird stained carpet too. Such a shame as I stay in Oxford for work frequently and the proximity to major roads, bus routes is advantageous. The gym facilities are good too.

Stained sheets bathroom falling apart and bugs in the coffee machine, I stayed in a premier inn the night before at over half the cost compared to the leonardo I am incredible disappointed

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and have generally been very satisfied with the rooms allocated to me. Unfortunately, my most recent stay was a significant disappointment. The room itself was uncomfortably small, leaving hardly any space to move around. The bathroom was in poor condition: the floor tiles were cracked, much of the grouting had worn away, and black dirt had accumulated in the gaps. The bathtub appeared damaged, with white tape applied to conceal flaws. This tape has clearly been in place for a long time, as it is now peeling away. Additionally, dirt had built up along the top of the bath panel, giving the impression of neglect. Overall, the condition of the room and bathroom made the stay unpleasant. I feel that the price I paid did not reflect the quality provided, and I expected far better given my previous positive experiences at this hotel.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay here. We have stayed here in the past when the hotel was part of the puma collection and remember it being really nice. Upon arrival the hotel looked the same really impressive and lovely colour tones as you enter. The air freshener which is sprayed on repeat starts to smell sickly after a while. We booked a “superior room” which was far from superior and should have this label removed. You can only get in the shower with the door closed it was starting to show its age and wasn’t very clean. After having arrived in the evening this only came apparent in the morning which we decided to upgrade. We were over charged compared to the website but they refunded the difference. We shouldn’t have really been charged as the room provided wasn’t nice at all. However, the room we got given (366) in the newer block was really nice and no complaints here. For the difference in room type it was worth every penny. Not sure if the older block ones would meet this standard though. Breakfast nice enough. We didn’t have dinner here but Leo’s food looked nice. Hotel in some areas ok however needs some tlc in others.. Would we stay here again? Maybe depending on price but not right away. My advice would be ask for a new block room and always book executive. For the price difference you won’t regret it.

Spacious lobby and vibrant colour. Quick check in. However Room 138 is not an ideal room to stay in. Construction side outside the widows, the room is right next to the staircase, always noisy when people go up. The room has two double beds which is great for a family, but it has a giant spider next to the curtain rail and very dusty on the AC vent. Overall polite staff but don’t think we will stay again, don’t feel good value for money!

I recently stayed at Leonardo Royal Oxford and overall, it was an okay experience. The communal areas and rooms were very clean and modern, with nice touches like newspapers, fruit, and drinking water available in the lobby. There was also a good coffee machine and nice selection of teas in the room, which was a bonus. However, there were a few issues. Some of the towels were quite old and worn, and the shower flooded the bathroom when used. The toilet got stuck flushing at one point, and the barrier at the car park exit didn’t work properly. Although the room was comfortable, it wasn’t entirely soundproof – I was woken up a couple of times during the night by slamming doors and noise from other guests. Despite these problems, the stay was generally pleasant thanks to the overall cleanliness and thoughtful amenities.

All was excellent. Room was spotless, all staff were very friendly, check in was very quick and efficient. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

We were a family of 3 adults with our 23 yo son staying for one night. The reception looked nice when we popped in to check we could park, but I soon noticed a few things that weren’t as premium as I’d hoped. We had a tiny room and even toner bathroom with an opaque door which was no good for us as a family of adults! There was a really strong smell of urine in the corridors on the approach to our room on the second floor which was awful. The pool closes at 7 so we had to rush to fit in a swim before dinner and it was tiny and needed a good clean. Our room was opposite a function suite or similar with really loud music. Luckily we don’t go to bed early so it didn’t stop us trying to sleep but was annoying to listen to and could have been loud for a daily with little ones. The sound proofing of the room was shocking and we could hear the conversations of the neighbours and outside in the corridor.

The hotel itself is nice, but with very limited food options at the bar My main issue with my room at a very high temperature with an inefficient air-conditioning system that did not call Room and I had a very sleepless night.

Superb Hotel, walked into the lobby and immediately felt I shouldn't be in a hotel this nice! Very clean and with excellent facilities. The room itself had everything you could possibly need. WiFi was spot on and the breakfast was amazing. Cannot fault this hotel at all and will definitely stay here again!

Hotel is well placed to get into Oxford by the frequent bus service. We also visited a couple of the local pubs for evening meals which were very pleasant. Staff at the hotel were helpful and cheerful. We had a standard double room and the bathroom was very small - literally the width of the toilet between the bath and basin, and the bath itself I would imagine was too narrow and short to actually bathe in (we only used the shower). Although the room was air conditioned, it was ineffective - only went down to 19 degrees and didn’t cool the room even though we had it on all the time. The room was always hot (with outside temperatures of approx 17 degrees). The hotel did provide us with a couple of fans, and we managed to circumvent the window lock, which made the temperature bearable, but had it been any warmer outside, it wouldn’t have been. Our son was in a different room, and his room was much cooler, with no air con on, so seems to depend on which part of the building you are in.

Great location. Room good however the bathroom door is made of glass and very close to the bed. The pool and steam/sauna room is very nice only aloud to book for 30 minutes. Staff at reception was very friendly.

Lovely hotel. A little out of the centre but the bus stops right outside so easy to get in and out. Rooms small but comfortable and clean.

The staff were fine, the room nice and clean but disappointingly small for a superior double, and a dreadful view over a building site. I dread to think what a normal double would be like .

Nice smart hotel, very clean. Easy check in/out process. Great parking, plenty of spaces, onsite and only £6 per night which is very reasonable. We had a room for 3 of us - that bathroom door is opaque glass and situated directly onto where the beds were so when anyone used the bathroom in the night the ight came straight through the glass door and illuminated the room - this would be better as a solid door to block the light. Other than this, we had a nice stay for one night here

The check-in was slow. We asked for the heating to be switched on, but it did not make any difference. We were frozen—phone Reception again from the room. The lady said she would turn it up. It did not seem to make any difference. We slept with our dressing gowns on and were still cold. We asked for a morning paper and never got one. I ordered a meal from room service with pasta advertised as a bigger plate; when it arrived, it was not enough for a one-year-old, and the waiter asked for a tip before he left the room.

Stay was great apart from at check in we were sent to room 182. We made our way into the room and someone was asleep in bed. We went back to reception and explained this to a horrified receptionist who then gave us a new room key for room 128. This would have absolutely terrified me if I was the person asleep- not great

Was given a room that stunk of paint fumes. Receptionist was rude when I checked in. Luckily a lovely receptionist then changed my room. Woken up at 8.30 by housekeeping knocking and entering room. Do they not chcek if u have checked ou?? £4 latte 😲 Pool full of mums and babies singing nursery rymes, not relaxing. Vegetarian food menu poor.

Nice hotel, but unfortunately they have inadequate processes in place. I was disturbed by hotel staff twice in the morning, at 8:30 and 9:30am, knocking at my door, thinking it was empty. One even entered the room until I called out. As a female travelling alone, this was very intimidating. My complaint to reception was taken onboard but with not much empathy, treated as business as usual. I was promised a phone call from the hotel manager but 5 days later, I still haven't received this. Also found out I was charged three times for parking (twice while doing the online check in, which came back with an 'error' but seemingly did go through okay). Thankfully this was refunded, but had the reception staff not noticed, I would be chasing a £12 now. Wouldn't stay here again, there are plenty of other good hotels in the proximity of Oxford.

The manager Jack was really helpful to us on arrival, promptly attending our comment about room heating and helpfully moving us to another room. Much appreciated.

Excellent, friendly helpful staff

We have been regularly staying in your hotel for the last 3-4 years. Our stay has usually been pleasant. However, this particular stay was of a poor experience. Firstly, we were allocated a room (196) which was not accessible with a lift. My wife has a knee injury, and we tried to raise the issue with a member of staff (Brendan). However, Brendan was very unfriendly and unsympathetic about the situation, giving no apology and just casually offering to take our luggage upstairs himself. We were not at all informed about the lift situation prior to our arrival There were a lack of essential ingredients for tea in the room (no milk, sugar and stirrers), and when we asked for room service, they said that no one would be available to deliver the ingredients for up to 45 minutes, leading to my son having to go to reception to pick up the ingredients himself. We understand that you were busy on the night, but we found this to be unacceptable. We had paid for the room in full, and deserved full hospitality, however, it is unfortunate that this was not provided. We hope that this was a one-off experience, and that our experiences will be good in future and we don't have to complain again.

Fantastic stay. We had an emergency hotel booking as our car broke down nearby. The hotel staff were amazing and gave us a drink from the cooler to help destress us. Proper customer service, would highly recommend

Wonderful hotel, great helpful staff. Only negative is it’s not in the city, but we were ok with that because we didn’t want To drive our car in the city. Just 10 mins away, great clean place!

Excellent hotel located on the outskirts of Oxford City Centre but with easy transport links. Very pleasant & helpful reception staff.

Easy to find location. Clean and modern. Good breakfast and evening meal options. Pleasant staff. Near to bus stop for city centre but also close to lovely village and canal walk. Spacious car park but not much in the way of gardens. Free WiFi and small but well maintained pool.

The hotel staff were great. Nothing was to much trouble. Good selection for breakfast. The only down was the food at pub Leo’s tried it twice. I did not try the main restaurant it might be better There is a pub called the plough within walking distance that does better food.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely. We stayed on a Monday evening and were disappointed that the Marco Pierre White’s restaurant was not open on a Monday. Leo’s bar was not a comfortable alternative very much a bar, and not where we would have chosen to eat. Also the limited menu was extremely expensive. An alternative small dining room with a traditional menu would, I’m sure, appeal to many more guests like us. I chose this hotel because of the indoor pool and the very kind Receptionist booked me a swim she said they had to work round the swimming classes. I was booked in for 5pm and was looking forward to a peaceful swim, after a tiring day. I was surprised and disappointed to find the classes were still in progress.I asked the teacher if I should be there and she said yes but just swim in the deep end! The pool is very small and the deep end impossible to swim with more that three strokes. The children were noisy jumping in. I gave up and went to change only to find the changing room very noisy with badly behaved children. I mentioned it to the swimming desk staff, who said they could hear the noise but as they were male could not intervene. The worst swimming experience I’ve ever had and surely a child protection issue allowing an adult in the very small pool. Overall then though the hotel was lovely and the staff very friendly, our experience was very disappointing

This was an incredible hotel, we stay at hotels most weekends and got a great deal as was not expecting much. The hotel was amazing with so many personal touches from free fruit, newspapers and great facilities in the room. The staff were the best could not do enough and a glass of mimosa was offered in the lobby and free sanitary products at reception Leisure facilities small but clean and well maintained Dinner in Marcos was excellent and breakfast a fantastic choice Will definitely look for the the brand when choosing future stays
