Cons: Noisy air conditioning that can't be stopped completely. Cramped public areas around reception, breakfast etc. Ancient and creaking lifts that take forever to come. Pros: Great location across the street from the Ashmoleum etc, excellent onsite parking and concierge service. Overall needs a referb and modernisation.

I tried 3 different emails & on hold for 15 minutes to try to book parking before arriving and did not get a response. I phoned again on the morning we were due to arrive & was finally able to book parking. It is valet parking as the hotel is in the city centre, £48 a night but we thought the best option. The hotel itself was beautiful. Our room was well equipped with tea, coffee machine, air-con & fridge. I requested a room with bath which was honoured. The bed was a good size although it felt a little like a water bed if the other person moved! Pillows were big & comfortable. Lovely decor. We had drinks in the Morse Bar & were served by a lovely gentleman in a suit whose name we didn’t get but he was great. There is limited seating in the bar but there is another bar in the restaurant with bar stools at the bar. I had a massage in the spa which was much appreciated and well done. We were greeted warmly by all staff that we encountered. Apart from the email/parking issue we would recommend.

Wonderful stay. Fantastic staff who made my birthday stay special with some added touches. Staff at reception and the Morse Bar really went the extra mile, thank you! We used the spa which was £20 per head, there was a bit of an odour to the changing room area and the shower in the thermal area was blocked and water over flowing. The bed was extremely comfortable and one of the best night sleeps we’ve had in a long time!

The staff was super helpful and accomodating. The toiletries selection smell delightful. Locationwise it was super convenient for sight seeing as well as the bus station. Breakfast had so much variety. Unfortunetly half the thermal spa facilities were out of order and it would have been nice to have everything in working order.

We had to find staff to get service in the lounge area by the bar. Again at breakfast, had to get up to find staff to arrange drinks. Lift was broken. Long wait to check out and only found out later we were charged twice for breakfast. Took three phone calls to get that corrected. Room was great, but overall experience was disappointing.

The hotel is no better than an average 3 star. Breakfast was a disaster. Staff didn’t understand our order. Several mistakes were made and we were overcharged by a significant amount. The buffer was of poor quality. The Morse Bar is too small for a hotel this size. The decor is what would expect to find in a 1979s pub with rooms. The rooms are old, poorly ventilated, the air con doesn’t work properly and not properly noise proofed. Overall the hotel was poor value for money and needs an urgent overhaul. There should be a premier restaurant; a bigger bar; modernised bedrooms and decor generally; staff who are better trained.

This Hotel was nice with good service, but if you are elderly be warned. The number of stairways and halls are not easy to navigate if you have lots of luggage. After we took the elevator to the first floor. We had to go up and down several stairways just to get to our room. It’s wasn’t the easiest hotel to get around.

Whilst we don’t get to visit as often as we’d like, we’d never stay anywhere else in Oxford. Always spotlessly clean, comfy beds and cosy rooms, can’t fault the staff whether it be reception, concierge or bar staff, this is just a really lovely hotel with good old fashioned values and customer service.

This property is in walking distance from shopping, restaurants and really cool architecture. The restraint had poor and slow service. The food is overpriced for this area. The room was nice. The shower was out of soap. The housekeeping does not vacuum. No attention to detail here. Every service person we encountered seemed bothered to interact. The beds are wonderfully soft!

Our connecting rooms weren’t both ready - we arrived about 20 minutes before check-in - but we were checked into one room right away - thankfully. I didn’t hear back from reception about the second room being ready (we could hear when the cleaning staff had left), but after about half an hour I called down to ask, and the second room keys were brought up promptly. A used food tray from a neighbouring room sat on the floor near our rooms (with dirty dishes and food on it) for at least two days. The rooms are decorated whimsically and the bathroom was very clean. There were several longer term maintenance issues. The dark patterned carpet had several bad stains that I didn’t notice at first. The wallpaper is peeling in several places. The towel warmer worked in one bathroom but not the other one. The electrical outlet cover by the desk was missing a screw and almost came out of the wall when I was pulling a plug. Service was inconsistent. The coffee at breakfast was terribly weak but was promptly replaced when I asked for another one. The front desk was slow at check out, with one of two staff on the phone, and the lobby did not have a card-drop box. The concierge was great and went out of his way to help us find a taxi two blocks away (the street was closed for a fair), and also helped us push our large luggage to the taxi stand. Overall the hotel is iconic, quirky, and fun but it needs some tightening up on the management side to earn a 5 star rating.

Musty room with very poor ventilation in bathroom. Extremely noisy heating system and a lot of noise from the courtyard especially during the evening; all night it sounded like being in a room with a washing machine on the spin cycle, very difficult to fall asleep. Called the receptionist/concierge, was on hold for 25 minutes, never got through. Not up to standard.

This was my 3rd visit to the Randolph in the past year. Convenient location, friendly attentive staff, and clean. Very comfortable bed. Strong wifi. Small details- I love the towel warmer and toiletries. Negatives- this trip the hotel was full and the showers never got hot enough. The towels aren't as soft/plush as I like. The price has nearly doubled but it could've been that it was a weekend in May and Oxford was busy with graduations. If a view matters to you ask. This time my window looked at a wall.

As far as I am concerned The Randolph sold me a bill of goods. As it was my wife’s birthday treat I decided that as the Randolph’s web site say - “Take in the city sights from our Graduate Deluxe King with View. These cosy spaces overlooking either The Ashmolean Museum or Martyr’s Memorial are outfitted with a plush king bed and writing desk.” Then there is the “Stretch out in a plush king bed.” Well in our Graduate Deluxe King with view we got 2 singles held together by a sheet. There was an obvious demarcation in the centre where the 2 mattresses abutted that left stretching out an uncomfortable experience. By morning there was a “trench” between the 2 mattresses. Having paid the premium price for this style of room I was very disappointed. Although each single mattress was very comfortable if we wanted to sleep in separate beds we would have booked twin beds. Front desk and especially Eric were excellent ambassadors for the hotel. Will I ever return to this hotel - no.

Hotel was conveniently located in the heart of Oxford University which made site-seeing and dining very nice. The hotel and room were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Easily some of the most spacious hotel rooms in the UK. The on-site bar and restaurant were also very nice!

The rooms at this property are ridiculously small, and not as advertised on the website at all. The room was a king, but had no guest seating, and you were forced to sit on the bed as the only option. Not acceptable for a five star hotel.

Somewhat to our dismay we were given a disabled room without a bath. It was more like a wet room. Our view overlooked the aircon system. The room was comfortable, well-decorated but far too warm. The air conditioning didn't work properly (it was not possible to turn the temperature below 19 degrees) and the towel rail was left on. (It was more than 30 degrees outside) We had to use the portable fans 24 hours non-stop in order to keep the room cool. The television system did not work properly. For the first two days we were unable to get BBC1, 2, ITV or Channel four. On the last day we were able to receive these channels but with no sound. We had to use subtitles. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. I was a little concerned about reception - which could be chaos. Security concerned me as people could walk in and up the stairs unchallenged. Breakfast: book in advance to save £6 per person. Food good but expensive. A service charge of £2 in the bar is a little steep when the drinks were already over priced. Tables in the bar area were very slow to be cleared.

A lovely hotel, and overall a good experience. The public areas are something quite special - and service is excellent. My only complaint which resists a 5 star rating was the room noise. It was quite dated, and the corridor noise was quite loud through the night and could hear another guest coughing in their room - which given the relatively high room price was a bit disappointing. I’d stay here again, but I’d ask for a better room away from traffic areas.

The Randolph hotel is exceptional. As an avid hotel guest across many UK and international hotels, I can say with confidence this is the best choice for a stay in Oxford. The decor and accommodation along with the spa were all beautiful. The most pleasant part of our stay was by far the service. Zoltan, Cristian at the restaurant, Manesh, and Henry all deserve to be mentioned for going above and beyond to make our stay incredibly special and wonderful. We will definitely be back and will recommend the hotel to all our friends and family.

Our room was nice but it was difficult to get to given the age of the building. The staff were friendly. The overall stay would’ve been fine had we not had an abysmal experience during breakfast. We reserved breakfast the night before. When we got down to breakfast, they told us it was about an hour wait. We wait our turn and come back, and when we went to the buffet, nearly everything was empty. We ended up leaving and asking for a refund. Definitely not what I expected of a “5 star hotel”.

Service left much to be desired. After my stay, there was an unknown and unexpected charge on my credit card. The front desk was completely unresponsive when I called. The person I spoke to - Manish - never responded and no one picked up the phone after. So if you're staying at this hotel, watch your credit card for charges and hope you won't need any after-stay service.

The staff was okay. I hope they understand that the International customer's arrival time depends on the flight. I arrived at the hotel at around 10:00 am and I understand that the check in time is 3:00 pm. They made me sit actually till 3:05 pm without even offering any water or coffee, not only that I could see that others arrived after me and was given the key to the room way before me. At 3:05 pm I had to go and ask for the key. This was not the way you treat a customer.

The hotel is fantastic! Well located and just so charming inside and out. Great service and amenities! Highly recommend if you are staying in Oxford, every thing is close by with a bus stop around the corner which we used to visit Blenheim. The train station is also only a 10 min.

A wonderful stay at the Randolph in Oxford. Pleasant and efficient staff. Comfortable, lovely room, great location convenient to the bus station at Gloucester Green and the Magdalen stop, plus main sights like Sheldonian Theater, Radcliff Camera, etc. Hotel is just across from the Martyr Memorial too.Also short walk to Christ Church College & Cathedral. Enjoyed the hotel's connection with the Morse TV series. Only negative was the fire alarm activated by some Rolls Royces in the hotel garage (fancy cars in for the Salon Prive auto show at Blenheim Palace), but hotel handled the situation quickly. Breakfast buffet in the pleasant Alice Restaurant at the hotel was delicious. Would highly recommend the Randolph.

Everything was excellent apart from a couple of annoying things. Breakfast was buffet style, food was tasty but not piping hot, coffee was the same! Didn’t spoil our trip just a little frustrating! Parking expensive £48 per day at hotel.

We stayed for a weekend at the Randolph and everything about the hotel was fantastic, it was by far one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The staff in partucular were wonderful, professional, everyone was kind and helpful throughout. We decided to do the breakfast and both the atmosphere and food were great, lots of high quality options and it was quiet and relaxed, would definitely recommend. We also did afternoon tea in the late afternoon and I think the main thing to take away is that the Randolph came across as both classy, high end and 5 star, but also has a relaxed and calm social atmosphere. We were never rushed and the staff gave just the right amount of attention, any need they were happy to accommodate. In general I would struggle to find any negative about the stay, it was fantastic.

Whilst the evening service in the Alice bar was excellent the breakfast service also in the Alice was poor, staff standing together talking whilst plates pile up on tables and no interest in coffee refills, getting a clean knife from next door table etc. Rooms were extremely hot changing the settings had no impact, was it being centrally controlled?
