Arrived after a long drive in France, longer ferry crossing and this hotel was booked for convenience near the port. Lifts not working, room on the third floor. Heavy luggage, in our seventies, not what we needed. Free drinks given but really more was required. Have used Ibis a few times before with no issues. This experience was very poor.

Lovely clean facility at a reasonable price. Great breakfast. Restaurant food is good as well. Only downsides are limited parking relative to number of rooms and the tiny size of the rooms. If those don’t bother you, great place to stay.

This hotel is central and we could walk everywhere we planned to go. We were on the 4th floor and the hotel had 2 lifts one was out of use and the other broke down twice.....

The hotel was in an excellent location. Bar service and breakfast both good. Hotel car parking is expensive £12 per night. If you happen to have a blue badge then there is free parking right across from main entrance. Only negative have never been in such a small bathroom. Literally hit of wall when trying to turn round.

Everything was great except one thing - the parking! Don’t be fooled when they say there is private parking. It is a small car park which was overflowing when we arrived. This meant I had to park five mins away with a small child and luggage - not ideal. Everything else was good, the room, service and breakfast.

Basic - expected a little more for £105 a night (no breakfast). TINY bathroom - very cramped. Worst of all: no air conditioning in this baking hot weather. Who builds a new (ish) hotel without aircon? Seriously....?!

What was otherwise a very good stay was overshadowed by the fact that one of the 2 lifts was out of action for our entire 3 night stay The remaining lift was also in and out of action for 3 days, resulting in my disabled relative being trapped on the 4th floor on one occasion and not able to access her 4th floor room from the ground floor on another. staff seemed helpless about the prospect of her accessing stairs to the 4th floor Can’t understand how a vital access service did not receive immediate attention when it clearly malfunctioned the first time and still had not had an engineer visit 2days later I find this totally unacceptable and positively dangerous as I was also unable to open the door to leave the lift on two occasions.

Stayed for two nights. The foyer and bar were surprisingly modern and stylish. Room for two of use was compact and had what we needed. Shower with body wash and shampoo. Soft towels and bath mat provided. Bed was very comfortable. And tea and coffee provided in room. Great price for what we needed. Close to train station and town centre.

My particular room had, shall we say, problems. I can get along with tiny but this room was both tiny and "weird." By that I mean having six corner angles and only a couple of them were right angles. The toilet was truly the smallest I\'ve seen in a "modern" hotel. On Saturday night into Sunday morning I was awoken by bouts of what could pass for riots -- screaming thumping crashing -- you name it. Oh, and the carpet which looked like a biohazard -- no telling what might be living in there. If it was mine I\'d forget about cleaning it and rip it up and burn it. But that is just me and some people might think me fussy about housekeeping.

Although our room was very small, it was spotlessly clean, as was the downstairs reception, bar and toilets. The staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was excellent too. The hotel is perfectly sited for shopping and very reasonably priced. We stayed for 2 nights and although the hotel was very busy, we were amazed how quiet it was. We would have no hesitation in booking again.

The room was small & the bathroom tiny, approx 1.5m x 700mm. Sat on the toilet & my head was about 6 inches away from the wall. Not enough room to bend over & only 1 person could be in there at a time. I've stayed in ibis budget hotels that had bigger rooms. Otherwise the location was great for the town centre & gunwharf keys.

Ibis seemed quite modern, smelt nice and comfortable. Staff could have been more engaging. We only had 3 pillows for our double bed…should have been 4? Breakfast was decent and hot. Would stay again.

Stayed here for two nights for a little weekend away as a couple. Our room was nice for what we paid for it. It is a small space not a great amount of places to put all of your clothes, so we had to keep some things in the suitcase under the bed, but as we were here for a couple of nights it doesn't really matter. Bed was firm and comfortable. The duvet was a bit weird more like a sheet than a duvet, but there is a heater if you get cold. The bathroom is super teeny so there is a lot of wiggling about if you're 6ft or just broad shouldered you would struggle. Good shower once you figure out the controls. Towels were great big and soft. The TV was not good Freeview only and hardly any channels worked. Our room was right at the front of the building and a cross the road is a nightclub, but we didn't hear much noise of it at all even though we read other people's complaints. The hotel bar was pretty decent some nice choices of drinks. Didn't eat here though so can't comment on the food. Some nice restaurants in the area and a few bars, but it is a student area. Easy distance to Gunwharf.

Short overnight twin room stay with a friend, Room was ok, little tired & warm on a hot day (no aircon), 24hr parking was easy, reception service was great, friendly staff and quick, didn't use any other hotel facilities. Bar/lobby area looked nice from afar though.

Unfortunately, this was not a great stay. Check-in had issues with their central system (and let\'s face it that\'s not their fault) however how they handled it when asked "What happens if it\'s not up later" was " Well we\'re not sure how you can stay without check-in) leaving me wondering if I needed to book somewhere else. Breakfast was stone cold - and the chef continually kept toping food up but in all honesty, the baked beans might as well just have been poured from the can. If you are going to have issues with check-in the least you can do is make sure your desk is manned and not just a piece of paper is left greeting your guests.

receptionist was not very helpful when i arrived i was very tired after my 6 hour journey, to be dismissed after i explained that i had already paid for my breakfast , . if i hadn't enquired about breakfast times in the morning, i would not have relised that they had not updated there computer system to say i was entitled to a free breakfast

For me the staff were excellent and made my stay very welcome, assisted me with check in when I made an error, being friendly and open just made the stay very good. My only concern is the lack of available parking, difficult to judge if you park, pay for the stay but then leave to visit the area only to return and find no available spots, allowance should be made to prevent this from happening.

Central location near railway station and city centre. Easy walking distance to Gunwharf Quay and Southsea and also frequent buses. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Rooms are a bit tight but clean and comfortable.

Awful sleep, there is very little sound proofing from a night club opposite to the hotel. Music clearly audible in your room at 3am, listening to hundreds of people charing to come on Eileen at 3am in the morning is not my idea of a good night's sleep.

Stayed here during Victorious festival so the price was higher than usual. The hotel was really welcoming and we were able to check in early. Breakfast was great and we managed to park in the hotel carpark for a £12. There was some street parking and another car park opposite for a slightly higher fee of £16 in case that info is useful to someone. Was a 15 min walk to Southsea for the festival so we would stay here again for that purpose. The room was very small but didn't matter to us as we just needed a comfy bed to sleep in.

There was not much available for vegan/vegetarians at breakfast. The bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen at a hotel. If you sat on the toilet you had to make sure the window ( a porthole ! ) was shut, otherwise you would hit the window whilst standing up. The bathroom was that small you had to come out and dry off in the bedroom. There is no air-conditioning in the room, and as it was warm we had to have the window ajar. BUT, the noise from the local estate was really bad until the early hours of the morning. And two or three times during the early hours we were woken up by motorbikes. The car park is fenced off, but you always had a bad feeling that when you went to the car the next day something might of happened to it. Luckily it didn't. Staff were friendly enough. Hotel clean throughout. But one big bugbear for us is that there is never anywhere to hang coats, especially if wet.

Details said food was available until 10pm. We went to order at 9.25 and was told we could only have toasties as chef wanted to go home. We therefore had to leave the hotel to get dinner. Also prices were different when we ordered at the bar than they were on the link on the website, so ended up spending a lot more money than we had anticipated on food, which was unacceptable and not budgeted for.

First time in an Ibis Hotel. Check in was friendly, very swift, room very clean, white sheets, white bathroom towels, tea making facilities, TV. Room smallest we've been in but okay for us. Breakfast plenty of choice, cooked, continental, cereals, juice, toast, fruit etc all was being topped up as needed. There was a pool table, table top games available for your use to relax at any time of day. Staff friendly, happy to help. Toilet facilities all very clean. A ten minute walk from Portsmouth, Historical Dockyard. We didn't have an evening meal at Ibis, there was a selection of (what I would class as normal pub meals) so chose to eat out. However this wasn't easy to find as it was graduation time and most were full with people having celebration meals. We would stay there again Would stay here again

Lunch & dinner - poor food offering. Everything frozen. Not much knowledge from staff about allergies. No real atmosphere in the common areas. Breakfast a bit better but only scrambled eggs offered and everything was cleared away at 10am! My TV didn’t work for entire visit.
