Southsea Rocks Hotel

We stayed in the Deluxe Room with ensuite bathroom. The room was a decent size and the bathroom was small but functional. Great shower/bath, very good water pressure and temperature. Cleanliness was good overall. Check in waa easy and we were able to leave our bags at reception after check-out time. Free tea, coffee, sugar and milk pods. There is a fridge you can store food plus a vending machine on site. The location is perfect, close to shops, bus stop, restaurants and the Southsea Pier. Downsides: bed was squeaky, curtains were super thin. The room was incredibly bright early morning, therefore bring a sleeping mask with you. We could hear a everything going on around the room and it was difficult to sleep in the morning. Bring some earplugs with you for a quiet sleep.

Very pleasant budget hotel. Parking was available but limited. Decent little hotel. A short walk to the scenic promenade. Emily on reception was brilliant and very helpful! Only minor negative would be lack of blackout curtains. Overall a great place to stay at a decent price!

Wi fi not working on top floor. Poor parking.

When booking hotels.com stated that there was parking on site. Definitely no parking, I had to drive around for over 30 minutes finding a park. No soap in the toilets or bathrooms. Check-in gentleman was A+ and very apologetic about the parking. Very friendly and helpful

We were lucky to get this double room on the weekend of Victorious festival and the room and amenities were clean. However the bathroom on the top floor that is one shared between 5 rooms didn't have toilet roll by 5am and wasn't refilled by 9am and the shower gel had run out. So I would recommend this hotel if you bring your own toilet roll, shower gel and flip flops for the bathroom. The staff on reception were friendly and kept in touch. We purchased a £2.50 permit but still couldn't park due to the festival so had to drop off bags and park further in to southsea - final thoughts, it did the job and served its purpose.

I booked the double en-suite room at this hotel/hostel and I was amazed by it. Great sized room, clean, comfy bed, everything worked and the en-suite even had a bath in it. For the price I paid, I couldn’t complain at all. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The only small issue I had was when I arrived to check in - the main door to the hotel was locked and there was no one in the reception to notice I was standing outside. However upon calling the hotel to explain, I was quickly greeted and welcomed in and it was explained that the reception isn’t manned all the time but there is always someone available on-site and can be contacted by phone. I had a great nights sleep as the hotel was very quiet, no doors slamming or loud parties. It was amazing and the hotel has a small number of car parking spaces which is great as the on street parking is time limited or permit holders only Monday to Saturday. I would stay there again

It was really modern and clean inside; shared kitchen area with fridge, freezer, microwave, and free tea and coffee, which was great. Our room was quite hot as it was on the top floor, but when we asked, they brought up a fan, which was great and solved the problem. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location for the beach with bar and restaurants very close by.

This was a basic hotel the room was good clean and comfortable the minus points was no en suites and no facilities to make a drink in the room it was a 2 flight of staires to the kitchen but no guarantee there was milk for drinks overall it was reasonable for what was on offer

Tiny tiny room, barely 7ft x 7ft. No kettle in room. Had to go downstairs to shared kitchen area. No ensuite bathroom, again downstairs to toilet and shower room. They were very clean but with mobility issues it was hard work. Parking is ltd to around 5 spaces then you pay for a pass to street park in surrounding streets. but again hard to find a space. Expensive for such a tiny room, door nearly touched the bed when you opened it.

We couldn't stay - the room absolutely stunk of cigarettes. The lady on reception agreed with us that the smell of smoke was very strong, even in the corridors. She told us that the people who were in the room the night before had put a sock over the fire alarm and were smokong. A member of staff had gone to tell them to stop. We managed to book another hotel for the night. We have been refused a refund, which I am so angry about. I always make sure I book non-smokkng rooms as my husband has asthma. We were offered another room but the place just stunk.

I appreciated how clean it was. I found it good value for the price.

Room was clean but with drink spill stains on walls and plaster missing by one light switch despite website saying recently redecorated. (Maybe it was still ongoing). Pillows could do with replacing as they were flat with no extras to boost height. Walked a lot in the local area & visited Dockyard & museums which were close by. It was a base for a quick getaway weekend. Loads of places to eat nearby. Would consider staying there again if we were going to that area. Was good for the money paid.

Lovely hotel with a great warm welcome by very friendly and helpful staff. Very deceiving as bigger inside than you would think. Other guests seemed to be very polite and respectful. Room had everything I needed including a lovely bed that delivered an excellent nights sleep. Very easy and simple check in and check out process. Bathrooms and shared spaces were immaculate. In a great location too being so close the the seafront and plenty of places to pick from to eat out. Will certainly be returning. Thank you Southsea Rocks for an excellent service and delightful hotel.

We were in a family room which had a double bed & bunk beds and our own bathroom. Room was very clean. Had a message night before asking if we knew a rough time we would like to check in, this was a nice touch.

Very clean, comfortable and convenient

It’s a stretch to call it a hotel. One kettle for the full building. The room had damp patches on the roof, was unbearably hot and was one floor down/up from the closest bathroom. Bathrooms themselves had mould in the shower sealant, and no shower gel in the dispenser. Booked for two nights, left after 1.

Need more fans one on ceiling and be able to open the windows

It was a base for a quick getaway weekend. Loads of places to eat nearby. Would consider staying there again if we were going to that area. Was good for the money paid.

It was very hot night

Room 14 is so small, I could hardly move, avoid that room! Was also woken up by the woman (manager?) in room 15, over & over. She kept banging in & out of her room throughout the night. Woke me at midnight banging in and shouting loudly to someone. Again at 1am, now she was shouting on her phone speaker so loudly I could hear every word. Then again at 2am she was banging in & out. It was like a form of torture. Horrendous night next to her. Note: take slippers - the shared wc has a constant wet floor not good. But excellent location moments from the seafront, you won't find a better location. Plus good shared sit-in kitchen with facilities, and lots of free tea & coffee. The shared shower room was clean, with a good power shower. The room cost is low, so if you can cope with a shared bathroom and wet-floor shared wc, it's ok. For the price I'd say overall it's fair. But I definitely won't be staying there again.

Receptionist area is not manned on a regular or scheduled basis.Although I think receptionist should be there from check in at 2pm up till 11pm as was indicated by hotel,the area was either closed or no1 inside regularly during those hours and even check out hours at 11 am no one was there.I didnt like that at all.Cant be running a hotel and someone isnt around to be called upon.

Excellent reception service check in communication brilliant via WhatsApp prior to arrival very clean room would definitely recommend staying here.

The day before my arrival I was contacted by the hotel to organise the check-in time, very nice of them. The hotel is very close to the beach and to other services like restaurants, pubs and supermarkets.

Lovely hotel would definitely return. Everything was clean and well looked after. The staff were very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Close to Gunwharf shopping centre and right on the beachfront! Excellent stay :)
