Ibis Budget Portsmouth

The Ibis Budget does what it says on the tin - it's basic, doesn't have much in the way of facilities, but is a good bolt hole for a night enroute, which is I guess what most people use it for. It's convenient for us, a short walk from family we visit. Parking is a bit limited, but is available not away if the hotel's own spaces are full. Bus and rail links are easy. There are plenty of food outlets nearby, and the cafe at Tesco does a good breakfast, if the basic one available at the hotel isn't what you want. The staff when we were there this time were friendly and helpful throughout.

The Hotel was ok but you have to park on a nearby Retail Park.

This hotel needs much more parking outside. You have to park over the other side of the road in the B&Q car park. It’s not all that safe.

Very welcoming lady on reception which made us feel valued. A lovely lady who recommended a good pub to us and put us on the ground floor as we have a dog. The hotel is in a poor condition however and needs a major refurbishment. There was no lock on the toilet door- just a hole, the walls are pealing and it needs repainting. The carpets in the communal areas are not great. Parking is limited but you can use a local retail park which was fine. Ideal for the port.

Helpful staff. Clean room. Shops and food nearby. Electric car chargers.

The room was quite small but was clean and comfortable. There was a £5 deposit for a kettle or iron which wasn't explained at check-in.

Budget hotel. No frills but fine for what we needed. Parking is in the retail park over the road. Would use again.

The Hotel is in a good location. The staff at this Hotel put their customers first. They are friendly and helpful at all times. I did not like that I had to park a few mins walk away but in the end it worked well. Dont park in the bays opposite the electric chargers as they are for Subway customers ....have cameras..and you will get a fine.

Easy check in. Lovely lady welcomed us and our dog. Electric charging points available for our car - perfect parking position. Quiet room - basic but all we needed for one night before our ferry to France at a fab price.

It was shocking. We got a different room to what I booked. It was dirty, specifically dusty in which my son has a dust allergy too. Only one plug socket in the whole room, for 3 people. Will not be booking here again.

Staff during breakfast were very nice. Mother & daughter at front desk were very personable when we were trying to secure a ride to the port. Room had fruit flies (or something similar) even though we had no food. Access panel in wall behind toilet was open - very weird. Only one power outlet in the whole room was inconvenient.

Lovely staff. Unfortunately our room could have been cleaner. Build up of dirt to areas of skirtings .

Cleanliness brilliant and staff excellent just somewhere to put your clothes,would have been nice excelllent for the price a bit more choice for breakfast but plenty places to eat near by.would definitely return.

After we checked in to our room we found blood spatter on the wall in the toilet as well as coffee splatter on the walls of the room. The room was too hot despite using cooling system and the window lock was broken. When I informed the staff about blood spatter on the wall they moved our room without question

One of the twin bed mattress was reeking with urine…. DISGUSTING!!! …. UNACCEPTABLE!! This hotel needs to be reported to the health department!!!!!!

Very very basic room, toilet in cupboard, shower leads into room. Outlook onto back alley, tatty and tatty corridors, no plugs near mirror for hair dryer etc. No tea/coffee in room. Breakfast ok poor quality bread, toaster slow, coffee machine filthy. Looked and felt dirty

First time staying at an Ibis budget. We booked 3 rooms for an overnight springboard to Paultons Park the next day. The rooms are very small and basic with no private bathroom. Our room felt quite hot and claustrophobic. There is what looks like an AC unit, but all it does is loudly blow warm air. Both beds were comfortable and our little girl loved the bunk bed. The breakfast facilities were reasonable and had a variety of options. The staff were all very friendly and room reasonably clean, but not spotless. However, some of the other patrons left us feeling a little uncomfortable, including a shirtless gentleman roaming the foyer and when opening the window being greeted with strong cigarette ?weed smoke. On the listing it says parking available, but there is minimal parking outside the hotel and we had to park a short trek away, which wasn’t convenient trying to negotiate a child and luggage. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room, so after a long drive we had to settle for tap water and a paper cup. I think if you need a cheap room for the night it’s worth considering, however for over £100 per night (albeit including breakfast) when we stayed we were underwhelmed with the experience. I think for that price I would at least expect a kettle in the room. I’m sorry Ibis but I don’t think we’ll be returning as would rather pay the extra for the creature comforts and a more family friendly facilities.

No kettle in room door window lock was hanging on by one screw. Bed uncomfortable whole head board moved when doors from other rooms closed woke me up with a July several times in the day and night. Toilet tiny

Very small room - nowhere to put bag/case. Very, very budget. Luckily I was only in room for about 6.5 hours overnight as I was working and just needed a bed for a few hours. Good shower though.

Room was hot, bathroom odd (shower opened onto bedroom! Sink in bedroom) But was cheap and not terrible. Had to hike five minutes to a mediocre pub to get a meal. Closer restaurants were all fast fude (Mickey D’s, Subway, the Colonel). Parking was across a busy street in a shopping center parking lot.

Not really enough space to put suitcases and washing stuff. No plug by a mirror for a hairdryer.I do appreciate it is not a hotel where one would stay for a week. But space was at a minimum. Bed clean & comfy , staff polite & accommodating.

The only things our room needed was a modern plug socket for using a USB ports and our Room 424 badly needing a new mattress!

The room was cold on the first night of a two night stay, and the in-room guest controllable room thermostat didn't allow the temperature to be turned up, which made sleeping difficult and an uncomfortable night

Very small room and incredibly noisy. Was woken up numerous times after midnight with people noisily going to their rooms and then again from about 4am in the morning with someone hammering on people’s doors and calling to them. Had to park some distance from the hotel. Really basic accommodation. Very glad we were only there a few hours.

Location was great for us. Basic but comfortable. No plug near a mirror for hairdryer. No privacy for changing as shower cubicle is in the room.

Basic room as expected an no problem. The male reception staff seemed grumpy and doing their job was too much trouble Room was serviced daily and to a good standard (thank you) Breakfast was basic but what was available was ok All in all let down by some reception staff

Very warm welcome from Tina on reception who was most helpful and informative. Sadly we had to leave very early and could not sample what looked like a very enjoyable breakfast.

Shocking could merely describe this place as a hostel, rather than a hotel. The hotel is setting its prices at a 4-star rate for the weekend. Upon my arrival, I encountered a staff member who was quite impolite. The majority of the guests are funded by the council, making this place far from a typical hotel, often filled with intoxicated and unruly individuals, occasionally accompanied by the scent of cannabis wafting in through the entrance. I wouldn't return here even if it were free of charge. Ibis seems indifferent towards its clients, and the staff exhibit hostility.

Good location. Plenty of shops walkable from Fratton train station. Easy bus to more shops at seaside with restaurants and cafes Staff was great and efficient with easy checking in with late night train

It’s right next door to Portsmouth football ground

It was in the middle of indutry and large chain shops. Did not feel safe area to walk the room was a box room with very limited services. Very basic not pleasant environment. Checked out whent somewhere else.

It was in the residential side of Portsmouth, not great for tourism as the look outside and inside was terrible. It was like a hostel. The room was very clean, I cannot fault that. The staff were nice and helpful. Just the area the hotel is in that let’s it down.

My children and myself have been at the Ibis Budget Portsmouth for the last 2 nights. 2-3 april 2024 The hotel in general was clean and as expected. my major issue is the fact that they could not provide any allergy information for the breakfast served which is a legal requirement for anywhere serving food. I had phone the day before arrival to see if they had a pdf of the allergens that I could look at before arrival but was told I could look at the packets when we were there. The only allergy information the staff could find was from 2021 Both my children have allergies so basically could have breakfast and we had to go out and source them food. The staff couldn't help with finding information and even after being told the manager would be in the afternoon nothing had been done. On our second night the fire alarm was continuously set off, the police ended up attending to deal with this. As you can imagine this situation upset and caused anguish to my 2 young children. In the end we left and went home at 4am as there was no point in staying for breakfast!

Budget. But dis get a good sleep. Paper cups in the room, didn't explore what tea or coffee was around. Breakfast was plentiful continental.

Although breakfast had been paid for, when my colleagues went for breakfast at 6.30am there was nothing left for them to eat. One room had human excrement inside the toilet roll.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to pay premium prices for the authentic university halls of residence experience, look no further than the IBIS Budget Portsmouth. “Budget” appears to be merely a nostalgic nod to what your wallet might have looked like before checking in. The family room offers that special kind of intimacy where everyone gets to know each other *really* well, thanks to the bunk bed setup and bathroom situation that makes privacy a distant memory. Perfect for bonding with the kids, less ideal for business travellers. The “air conditioning” system deserves particular mention (because it's not actually aircon) - it’s a marvel of engineering that apparently takes its temperature cues from the great outdoors rather than the thermostat you’ve optimistically set to 15 degrees. At 4am, when the outside temperature drops by a whisker, this clever system decides it’s time to transform your room into a sauna. Who needs sleep when you can have a free spa experience? The mattress, credit where it’s due, was actually comfortable. The pillows, however, seemed to be auditioning for being in the bin and should probably get the part. Breakfast was a masterclass in packet-to-plate efficiency. The pastries had that special soggy quality that only comes from being thoroughly convinced they’re something they’re not - fresh. For what you pay, you’d expect more than the full student experience. Unless you’re feeling particularly nostalgic for those university days

The staff were friendly and helpful, although they ran out of milk for tea and coffee. The breakfast for the price was terrible. I could buy these ingredients for the faction on the cost. The area around the hotel had good facilities. The room was clean and well kept. The TV didn’t work, the remote was either broken/out of batteries? I know it’s classed as budget but a lot of bed and breakfasts give better value.
