The staff was friendly and tried to help. The room had no extra blankets and it was chilly. The bathroom was not clean. The towels were paper thin - no showering for me, spent $30 for gym day pass to shower. There was a loud disturbance n the parking lot for most of the night. Staff claimed they couldn’t call police before ten. I called police who arrived around midnight. The guy stayed in his car playing softer music but was just there in. The parking lot being creepy. The “breakfast” room was cluttered with boxes and had nothing aside from a packaged pastry. Did not feel safe here at all.

Disgusting old ruin. Cold water in shower. Dirty floors, water leaking on floor from fridge. No coffee , not enough parking and noisy as hell in night! All for 130 bucks! DUMP at best

Easy check in. They let my kids stay in the pool later than normal. The farmers market was going on and was within walking distance. Other guests were quiet. The man working the front desk at check in was very kind.

No amendities, no customer service. Bathroom is outdated and well used. There was no alarm clock, extra blankets were not allowed when asked for them. It was a cold night. Woke up to gargage truck pick up at 5:30am from motel parking lot dumpster.

The TV did not work, Hair dryer did not work, no power or table lamp at work desk. The AC/heater did not had missing louvers so I could not direct airflow. Ice machine broken.

Disappointed room, dingy, the a/c leaked on the floor over night, the lights between the beds were very loose, the plug cover was missing. We reserved for 4 adults, the room only had two small bath towels and the customer service agent at the office was reluctant to hand out more “unless you return the two towels”!! The pool was not open, “speak with the customer service agent after you settle into your room” No recycling bins, had to use major local trash cans.

Rooms were clean but basic. Beds and pillows not super comfortable. It was a great location and front desk attendant was wonderful. No hair dryer or iron. Pool is small and does not look inviting. Booked last minute and town was sold out so it served its purpose.

It’s not bad for staying for one night. If I had a trip for several days I would probably go elsewhere. There’s no coffee available at including in the room. There’s no ice machine but they do provide ice if you go to the office and ask for it. When checking out I did have to wait as the front person was out on their break but that was the least of my worries. The place is not bad honestly but I also wasn’t expecting much. I honestly just needed a place for the night.

Would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Property looked nice from the outside but the inside was dirty. Water cooler at reception was broken and ice machine was also not working.

It is super close to restaurants and stores in town. The facility is so clean and tidy. They also have wonderful security which ensures the safety of its guests.

Most disgusting and dirty hotel i have ever stayed in. This includes some dirty 3rd world countries i have been to. Cool area but this place is DIRTY!!

The bedding was dirty on one of the beds. There was cockroaches in the room that we didn't see until we woke up. There was hair all over the "clean" towels. The bathroom sink wasn't very clean. There's no phones in the room to call front desk for any assistance

The rooms need a really good deep cleaning, and painting, there are blotches of paint for touching up. The restrooms are really bad the floor around the toilet was dirty with urine on the floor and the walls were very gross, the towels were old and didn’t dry. The floor in the room looked like it has never been mopped. At night the parking is really sketchy, there were groups of ppl standing around late at night, they weren’t loud but a bit nerve racking. Great price but you get what you pay for.

The room was terrible. The bathroom was barely clean and appeared to have mold growing. The sheets were visibly dirty and the floors were not clean either. There were also roaches. I would not recommend this hotel AT ALL.

The well pump at my house broke and I needed a place for my son and I to take a shower. (He had school and I business to attend to). So I booked this inn. The room was pretty dirty. Whoever cleaned the room left a couple dirty hand towels above the closet, and there was a hypodermic needle and syringe that was left above the mirror (got drugs?). Some of the floor tiles were cracked and one in the bathroom floor had a decent hole in it. The floor trim was stained and filthy. The room needed paint and a lot of cleaning. The curtains were ghetto cut above the wall AC. We brought our own soap, shampoo, and towels. The shower was dirty. My son said it looked like there was poppy seed shampoo stuck to the shower wall (I was afraid to ask for further details). The towels were really flimsy, I’m glad I decided to bring my own. I’m also glad that we didn’t have to sleep there because it wasn’t a good scene. Some dude was smoking weed in the parking lot and looked like a pimp keeping tabs on his employees. I didn’t find any bedbugs, I also didn’t bother to look… We just showered and got out. My son got to see his first not so great motel, so that was interesting, but not in a good way. Next time, I think I’ll opt for a better motel. Something a lot less sketchy.

I was not impressed with this establishment. It was not clean, there were fruit flies coming from the sink drain, the tub was chipped and baseboards and floors were dirty. Our key cards were deactivated each night so we had to wait 30 minutes for someone to come back from lunch to reactivate our cards so we could get in to our room at 9:00pm. Also, we booked a room for 3 people and only received 2 towels. When we went to the front desk and requested a 3rd towel, we were rudely told we only booked a room for 2 (which we did not) and he refused to provide an additional al towel. Overall the experience was not pleasant.

Appeared to be nice but found two cockroaches in the first hour.

This was by far the worst place I have reserved on Hotels.com. I reserved two rooms. We were in town for a family member near end of life. One room smelled like chemicals and was the walls had splashes of something on them. The second room, the floor were not clean - had food crumbs and dirt. The bathroom was not clean and the towel were dirty - dirt streaks on all of the,

Local CSU Chico students were partying loudly on all floors. The guy running the office was rude and clearly didn't like his job or give a ....

It's was nice but no hot water in the far corner rooms

This is a run down hotel in the best downtown location. We had to switch out our room due to a broken bed and noise above. When we got the new room the fridge, microwave and tv didn’t work🙄- the only great thing about the place was the excellent staff service which apologized for the state of ill repair.

Wow! I realize when going to a "college town" during graduation you can expect higher prices and overworked staff. But, when you call a room a "suite" I feel like there's a certain level of expectation that is inferred. Yet, I guess I have pretty high standards. The full size refrigerator in the separate kitchen looked like something they found in the alley behind a frat house. No coffee maker, no clock, no cups, (even in the restroom) no carpet! The floor that was so filthy we had to wash our feet before getting into bed or putting our shoes on. Everything in the room was dated and could use a coat of paint. I'll close with the one positive thing we found; the mattress was comfortable! P.S. The pillows were from 1980.

It has clearly had updated that kept costs down. But it was very clean and the bed was good. The lighting and electric plugs were lacking, and the internet didn't work well.

This was a very disappointing stay. Here's a quick list... - dirty walls where your hand hits everytime you turn on light (see pic0 - One bed creaked so bad, we would wake up each time we rolled over. Bed base made out of loose metal - Stayed 2 nights and only got 1 towel and one shot of shampoo so asked to have room made up. They left a set of towels outside on the air conditioner! No soap, no shampoo, no condition and didn't even enter the room. - Shower had no hot water on Friday afternoon. Asked front desk and was told they don't have hot water when they do laundry. What?! - TV volume kept shutting off on NBC - Room next to us had a party inside and out til 3am Saturday night. Front office did nothing. - Air conditioner didn't work when we were out so it got hot and stuffy, then worked when we came back -

Well there is a 100 dollar deposit I was not told about so I was refused the room. But yet still charged for it the manager was ok but be did try a little bit less of a deposit but it still didn't clear if he tried a 85 dollar deposit it would of cleared and I would of had the room for the night. I understand that they needed to charge something for the reservation but for the whole room which I'm sure it was rented after me. I couldn't believe the whole price of the room. So than I had to walk around all night not having enough for another room if I didn't show up than my card would never of been charged anything. how do they get to charge more for the deposit than the room cost. Anyways I will never stay there again that's a promise.

Perfect downtown location and you cant beat the price The staff is incredibly friendly and willing to help

While the area is not the best part of town. But at least no breakin or anything. Window AC is loud, Linen is old. I guess you get what you paid for. At least the rate is very reasonable.

Convenient location in downtown Chico

Went to ride bikes. The manager let us check out late so we could take showers. The hotel is centrally located. Walking distance from compass, town and Bidwell Park. Bidwell Park is spectacular! ( for walking and bike riding!).

The staff here is amazing!!! Everyone is super welcoming and friendly. It can get a little loud on weekends(because its super close to downtown), but the bed waa super comfortable, the rooms are spacious, and it's a great location with restaurants in walking distance. I would highly recommend.

Good spot, right downtown

First of all, the staff at the University Inn are lovely - the guys checking me in and checking me out were very friendly and helpful, and I left something in my room after checkout and the cleaning lady was great in getting me back in there. Unfortunately, the inn itself is run down, the rooms are in bad shape and the homeless around the property are tough to ignore.

This hotel is really not good. I'd advise to not stay here. We were in town during a busy time and this was one of the last rooms we could find in the area. The bed was so loud and uncomfortable. You could hear and feel the old school springs creaking loudly every time you moved an inch. The TV remote was coated in grime. There was a weird smell in the room. Pros: It was cheap. It didn't feel unsafe, at least. They have big lights in the parking lot to deter car break-ins. Reserved a non smoking room and it didn't smell like smoke. Very easy walking distance to tons of good restaurants. Breakfast diner was great just a block away. Cons: Everything else Loud, hard, uncomfortable beds Dirty Room smelled musty Non working lamp on desk Towels were threadbare and scratchy

Price was doubled from what the web sight said Office was locked so no coffee in morning and no way to complain

This place charged me $40 for a towel and bed sheets that were already stained when I arrived. They are so rude and uncourteous. In their online profile that said "Breakfast Included" Ha! They dont even have a coffee pot in the room let alone breakfast. The floors of the room were still dirty and the place smeeled like an old Thrift store. They door had no security lock only a single lock. There was only one waste basket in the room and the furniture had grafiti and greasey unclean surfaces. I will NOT stay here again.

The room had no table and had to request one with the receptionist. The TV was not working so had to 're-plugged in' at the wall. The room design is such that you can only watch TV from the edge on in your bed. The room was clean but you have to like the aroma of bleach. Very convenient for the town square, shops and eateries. There is a CoOp 1 block away.
