The cleanliness of the room was awesome. Bed was comfortable. Love the black rolling chair. Refrigerator actually got cold. Microwave worked fine. Customer service was awesome also at check in and out. Didnt see any bugs. I did not like the water temperature it was warm not really hot. I absolutely did not like the color of the pool. Not sure what was going on but it was too green.

Staff was friendly but I was sad the pool was not operational and there were reports of negative things I rather not mention. If I knew when booking I was going to be cancelled I would have had a backup plan. The ice machine was in repair and no ice was available.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The first room we had was filled with mold all around it. They accommodated us to change rooms but were horribly rude about it and completely unhelpful. They told us we had to completely exit the first room and leave all our stuff in the concrete walkway until they’d open our new room. Then they just argued about everything when I expressed my anger about that. They finally let us in but made me walk all the way to the front desk to get the keys instead of just handing them to me when they opened the door. The pool was filled with algae and you couldn’t even see the 2nd stair it was so cloudy. Avoid!

The staff was very helpful and personable. The lady especially was wonderful. Parking was great and I couldn't beat the price. I got a good night's sleep. Five stars.

I was a bit uneasy with that parking lot the first night. Too much activity for a parking lot. After the first night there was less activity and I felt safe. The cleaning staff was prompt with towels and each day our beds were made, the room wiped down and trash removed. Would stay again. Appreciate the coffee being available in the lobby.

We had decided to make a day trip to the beach it was a four hour drive so when we booked a hotel room last minute we found this motel and read the reviews of it being clean, that’s being said once we opened the door we got hit with a very gross mold smell that made me sick to my stomach it was clean for being a motel but there was a dead bug on the floor and we were at least able to take a rinse off from the sand and just decided to drive the four hours back home and when I went to check out there was a nice man working there that had asked how long ago we checked in and as I was about to answer another worker said we had being here a long time which was only an hour along with paying a 50 dollar deposit after paying and booking online with that snap of passive aggressive of an hour being a long time I decided I was too exhausted from arguing or asking for a refund, I would recommend finding another hotel if your gonna pay 150 for one night anyways at a way better hotel that’s clean and doesn’t stink especially with us have two little toddlers it wasn’t safe for them to play around.

Room smelled of smoke very strong. It may be because the outside of all rooms has a smoking station and the AC unit for each room is in the same spot, so it’s just sucking in the outside air where someone is potentially smoking. In my case the people from the room next door stood outside of their door and smoked all the time. The floor was dirty, sandy and sticky. Not all of the lights worked and the bathtub did not have a plug/stopper to use it as a bathtub.

I got there early and inquired about checking in early we got there before 3pm. I was told it would be an extra 20.00. I also had my kids with me. She asked me if we were all going to be in the room I said yes then she said I had booked the room with it saying it was only me so she said she would have to charge me another 10.00. I didn't like her attitude. She made me feel like I was trying to get away with something. If I was trying to do that why would I have my kids standing next to me. Then on top of that we asked about the pool she said it was closed. They advertise they have a pool. She was not at all friendly. I decided to not check in early since I was getting charged an extra 10. Later when I did check in there was a very sweet friendly girl and she was the saving grace in me not giving this hotel one Star. The room was good but the bed feels like you are sleeping on a brick. If you like a firm mattress this is the place for you. They do not offer breakfast but there is juice and coffee.

Staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming, facilities and property were very basic, location was on a very busy intersection, I woke up frequently in the middle of the night to sounds of people screaming and shouting outside our room (making me feel a little unsafe especially in combination with the fact that our deadbolt didn't work) and you could hear lots of street noise and big trucks passing by all night. Overall disappointing but we had a clean bed to sleep in at night which is what we needed.

One of the male front desk receptionist’s was very rude. Wouldn’t let me go to the bathroom until I paid a fee. Mind you, we had already paid for the room in full, I have no idea where this fee came from. He would not help us in anyway until we paid that 50 dollar fee. Various hotels across the country have decided to take advantage of customers by gouging them on arrival for over-reaching deposits. RedRoof Wilmington NC has begun to do this egregious act as well. Before I even entered the room I received a message from my credit card bank notifying me that I have been charged $201--$100 above the set rate. The dollar amount and the level of accommodations is so wildly out of proportion that it leaves the customer completely disgusted with their purchase. When I demanded my $100 deposit be returned the next day at checkout, I was met with the most rude response from the female manager on duty 10-29-23. I told her I will not put up with deposits for a stay at the hotel and since my deposit was not going to be refunded as fast as it was charged, telling me it would take as many as 5 business days, that I would never be returning to the hotel, which I have stayed in prior more than 6 times. She rudely replied that she didn't care and was placing me on a "DO NOT RENT" list. She should be fired. Customer service is SO DEAD everywhere! Everyone under the age of 40 seems to think the customer should stop tormenting them by making them do their job. Put your phone away and grow some responsible adult traits!

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They really care about their guests. But it is still a motel subject to the typical issues of a 2 star rated place. It was relatively clean and updated, I have no complaints regarding the property itself. It’s the people staying there who create problems. But the staff are very gracious and responded readily and decisively to my concerns.
The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They really care about their guests. But it is still a motel subject to the typical issues of a 2 star rated place. It was relatively clean and updated, I have no complaints regarding the property itself. It’s the people staying there who create problems. But the staff are very gracious and responded readily and decisively to my concerns.

This review is solely for the manager that was working this morning 12/5/2025 that refused to give her name and blamed me for a faulty door trapping me inside the room citing I was given a directive to wait on staff to bring more keys. I stayed two nights and was planning a third. Last night I ordered pizza delivery. When the driver arrived, my door wouldn’t open. The lock had a piece of metal jammed inside it. the LOCK WASN'T ENGAGED . The night staff came and tried different keys. The keys didn’t work because the LOCK WASN'T ENGAGED . We pushed the door until it opened. It was a maintenance issue. This morning a different manager blamed me for breaking the lock. She said “you just couldn’t wait to get your pizza.” She said I damaged the door trying to get my pizza faster. That is not what happened. The lock had metal jammed in it. Getting more keys would not have fixed it because THE LOCK WASN'T ENGAGED She gave me 10 minutes to leave the property. It was raining. She threatened to call the police. She said I was “a local” because I live in Southport. Southport is 50 miles away. I did not break the lock. The night staff saw it was a maintenance problem and put me in a different rooms albeit the room change downgraded me from the room I was in. The morning manager refused to let me talk to or listen to my explanation. I was kicked out in the rain over their broken lock after staying two nights with no problems

People that actually care about people is hard to find!!! , and EVERYONE here genuinely cared for us. Havent felt this much hospitality in ages. Gave us all toothbrushes because we forgot ours. Helped us get into our car when we lost the keys , let us enjoy the pool after check-out while we still didn't have our keys. Answered front desk phone promptly and kindly every time day and night. Just so nice and helpful....What an incredible group of people! Thank you guys again!

I didn’t feel safe here at night as a solo female traveler. The number of security cameras, alarming signs at the front desk and men just smoking outside and watching you will make that pretty clear. One waved at me and tried to follow me towards me car, I drove away asap. Don’t look at the pool unless you want to be disgusted. The furniture was also damaged and falling apart inside the rooms. The location is this hotel is also across the street from a hooters and a smoke/vape shop, for context. My room smelled so badly of smoke I almost decided to forgo all my money and go elsewhere. However the front desk guy was nice and very helpful!

I bought the rooms sight unseen and immediately regretted it driving up. I’d not stayed at a red roof inn before so I probably should have known better. The first thing I noticed was the smell of urine outside my door and it being in a neighborhood on a busy highway with shady characters roaming the streets. I just didn’t feel comfortable traveling alone as a woman and left. I booked a best western down the road which even though was in an urban area was a bit more off the busy highway and less stranglers nearby.

The room was clean. Staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming, facilities and property were very basic, location was on a very busy intersection, I woke up frequently in the middle of the night to sounds of people screaming and shouting outside our room (making me feel a little unsafe especially in combination with the fact that our deadbolt didn't work) and you could hear lots of street noise and big trucks passing by all night. Overall disappointing but we had a clean bed to sleep in at night which is what we needed.

I loved the location and that there was plenty to do and eat in the neighborhood of the hotel. Close enough that you could park and walk. There were plenty of cameras on the property but unsure how far security went. I would stay here again. Very nice and helpful staff.

I thought the front desk staff is the only reason I stayed. She was lovely. The place advertised a pool and breakfast. The pool was a murky mess of almost green. The bathroom shower bar was held together with duct tape. And the sinks were clogged. The room smelled of broken dreams and despair. The lady at the desk was kind and very attentive. The need for bleach throughout this room is overwhelming. I should be given a credit just for the lack of advertised amenities. The room smell and duct tape is the entire reason I should be given a complete refund.

I was a bit uneasy with that parking lot the first night. Too much activity for a parking lot. After the first night there was less activity and I felt safe. The cleaning staff was prompt with towels and each day our beds were made, the room wiped down and trash removed. Would stay again. Appreciate the coffee being available in the lobby.

I got there early and inquired about checking in early we got there before 3pm. I was told it would be an extra 20.00. I also had my kids with me. She asked me if we were all going to be in the room I said yes then she said I had booked the room with it saying it was only me so she said she would have to charge me another 10.00. I didn't like her attitude. She made me feel like I was trying to get away with something. If I was trying to do that why would I have my kids standing next to me. Then on top of that we asked about the pool she said it was closed. They advertise they have a pool. She was not at all friendly. I decided to not check in early since I was getting charged an extra 10. Later when I did check in there was a very sweet friendly girl and she was the saving grace in me not giving this hotel one Star. The room was good but the bed feels like you are sleeping on a brick. If you like a firm mattress this is the place for you. They do not offer breakfast but there is juice and coffee.

Mostly clean. Very comfortable beds. Good a/c. No noisy neighbors. Don't believe all the bad reviews. No breakfast, just apple juice and coffee. Some sand on the room floor. Biggest problem is that the room phone doesn't even work to call the front desk. What if there was an emergency?
