Nice stay with good service throughout the hotel. The location, on the water, is excellent with easy access to the bars & restaurants in downtown. WiFi and smart TVs were both very strong and prided great variety and access. Tge pool is really good overlooking the river.

Hotel location is lovely, but the hotel does not provide a good experience. If you are simply looking a place to shower and sleep, then go to the budget inn. Even they provide coffee. This hotel does not! There is what appears to be a nice coffee shop, but it closes at 11 am and it does not open again until am sometime, I think. Restaurant in the hotel is very mediocre and not that good. Staff was courteous but the check-in was always congested and not very efficient. Room was clean but not any better than the lesser options price wise. Years ago, we stayed at this location when it was simply the Hilton, and it was great. Returning again after several to celebrate an anniversary was disappointing. Based on this experience and the cost, we would not recommend this hotel. The $ 22.00 a night for parking was not necessary and really didn't provide any additional advantage for security or otherwise. We would not choose this location again.

No refrigerator in the room. $22 to park. You have parking spaces, it should be included in price of the room. Only one ground entrance that we found, by the pool/restaurant. Room was very clean and nice. The bed was very comfortable and hallway was quiet during the night. Would have appreciated a refrigerator in the room to keep our waters cold. Front desk person was nice but more than once I told her I couldn't hear her (other noise at the desk) and she didn't bother to try and raise her voice. The valet guys were EXCELLENT! They directed traffic, opened door for us to go in the hotel, asked if they could help us.

The location was great, but the pool area needs work. Chairs were torn, and some were broken.

Was there at 3:50 to check in. Front desk told me room not ready and check in isn’t till 4 anyway. There was a line of about 25 people. I asked so do you just want me to go to the end of the line because it will be after 4 by the time get back up here. His response was yes. So I went to the back of the line and at 4:15 I made it to the front desk again where I was told the room wasn’t ready again and to try back later. Now I’m paying 400 a night for a room and need to meet people and the front desk just told me I’ll have to wait. Seeing I was agitated he gave me a $15 dollar credit at the bar while I wait. That covered a beer for me and my gf. About another 20 minutes pasted when the man from the front desk walked up to me and handed me my room key. Pool area had grass growing between the patio blocks that wear also uneven and sunk in the ground. Your over facility needs updating. Patio chairs are broken and rusted,and over all look of place is out dated. Ont be returning . I like the Hilton brand and frequent them but this place doesn’t meet your standards.

Hotel inside is beautiful and the surrounding area is perfect. The outside however is dushusting, the pool was filled with ants, there are bugs and dirt all over the pool deck.

hotel grounds not clean. building and rooms smelled very musty! Caution if you have asthma! No water in water carafes in lobby for 3 days! No room refrigerators. Coffee shop in lobby but very short hours. no jacuzzi. Airport transport was a helpful service but couldn't reach hotel to request from airport side

Location was great but have to honest. There was a horrible sewer smell in the lobby and from found out this was normal from talking to the staff. If it wasn't for the location, I would have left. The pool could have been cleaner but the live music was great. Staff was friendly and room condition was ok.

Pool steps broken and dangerous. Requested a room with city view but our window looked out on the roof section with 6 huge air conditioners. NO view. Requested a change but it was not a lot better but we stayed there as we had already changed rooms. Rusty equipment and trash out that window. Normally love this hotel but this was disappointing.

Window was extremely dirty..called front desk and they took care of it right away. I recommend valet as well as a room with a Riverview. The pool deck and pool could use a good cleaning. Perfect located to enjoy all Wilmington has to offer

There was a significant odor on our eighth floor. It was kind of musty and mildewy that hit you as soon as you walked off of the elevator.

This hotel is right on the Riverwalk with excellent views of the Cape Fear River however there is no substitute for a clean room and my recent experience was hair on the bathroom floor and rusted shower fixtures!

For this to be a four star hotel I was not impressed. Hotel room floor had crumbs and dust bunnies around the bed. Carpet in hallways was dingy and smelly. Bar area felt like it was 20 degrees. We couldn’t enjoy our meal.

Our hotel room was filthy. The main air vent in the wall was caked with dust so thick it must have been accumulating for months. The beside lamp was also caked in dust. The bathroom walls by mirror were splattered with an unknown substance. Shower had small amounts of debris on floor. The young man working as bellhop was very nice.

Amazing water views and friendly staff. Room was comfortable but the hotel is in need of some love. A lot of room features are quite old and dirty.

This hotel was terrible. When we checked in we were given the wrong room and a bad parking key. Then when we finally got the right room and we found a part of a condom rapper and what looked like other trash and a room thay wasnt very clean. The only thing they comped was one of my parking for my cars. They did reclean the room, but too little too late i already felt gross. The shower did not drain . Their was a really bad oder every where. The elevator wasn't working near our room. They hardly have any carts for your luggage. Not to mention when my friend did use one. The valet or hotel staff didnt seem to care that the one she had didn't work. They just laughed as she tryed to use it. There is mold near the pool doors that they dont clean so im sure the pool is just as bad. Over all it was not worth a penny we paid. I would not reccomend anyone stay here ever.

The cleanliness of this hotel was disappointing. There were stains on the towels, a giant stain on the wall, what looked to be old gum stuck to the carpet, and the room smelled strongly of mold. When we called the front desk to request more towels for the room, we had to call three times before they were delivered. The staff were not very friendly or hospitable, and seemed inconvenienced when we made previous mentioned request. Overall disappointing experience and was not worth the price.

Sadly, we were disappointed with this hotel. It is pricey. The location is great and the view of the river is nice. But our room was very dirty. The hotel and room looked a bit shabby. Not worth the price.

Could not ask for a better location. We had a 4 day getaway and staying on the water in downtown Wilmington was just perfect. The hotel is great but we noticed a lack of detail to cleaning. The hallways our floor had not been vacuumed the entirety of our stay. One day our clean towels were just all stacked on the back of the toilet. Also the pool is not heated so don’t plan on swimming in the fall.

Room was really nice. But no refrigerator. Breakfast was best we've had in a long time. Only problem was the blind was broken in the down position.

One of the nicer hotels in the area, however, you can just tell they took a lot of short cuts with it. I'm not sure if it was just our room, but everything was just .. off. The flooring didn't quite reach the walls, everything was dinged, the handles on everything were crooked, the shower door didn't slide close, our sink took several minutes to drain, our door didn't shut without being pulled hard or slammed shut, and there was construction on our side of the building. Additionally, we found it weird that they didn't have a mini fridge in the room. For the price we paid, the hotel wasn't put together. They do provide bottled water, which is a nice touch - but didn't make up for the poor condition of the room. That being said, its a decent location and most restaurant/bars are within a mile walk, which was nice. If you're interested in using the airport shuttle, you need to call the front desk to have them pick you up. However, it is difficult to get a hold of the front desk. Most of the staff are friendly and it was a good location. However, it didn't justify the $250 - $400 per night cost. For hotel conditions and inconveniences, I would be willing to pay $150 - $200 max per night.

Our room’s AC unit did not cool the room and so temps remained I. High 70’s and very stuffy.

No free wifi. The top hinge on our door had been busted at some point. You had to really slam the door to get it to close and shove it to get it opened. It was a summer weekend and the price was way beyond the quality. No fridge.

The easiness of checking in and digital key was awesome! The staff at check-in were friendly and accommodating. The hotel was very quiet although the walls are very thin and could hear my neighbor snoring 😂. The only cons I have is they really need to clean the carpets on the hallway and under the beds, no refrigerator in the regular rooms for the price you pay is disappointing (only available in suites), change and wash the comforter (there was a stain on mine) I just slept on the other bed (still wondered if that one had even been washed). My stay was needed for a relaxing reset.

This hotel has a lot going for it: great, waterfront location, helpful staff, good on-site restaurants. Sadly, maintenance seems to be slipping thru the cracks. We stayed 3 nights and 3 times maintenance had to come get our AC working again - definitely a must have in hot, humid Wilmington. Sadly, that wadb't our only maintenance issue. The vaniyy light was not working in the bathroom so had to be replaced. The safe didn't work - it looked like someone took it apart and didn't put it back together again. Maintenance replaced it with a new safe. Finally, the perphole in the door didn't work because the whole lens was missing from the front of the door. That still wasn't fuxed when we checked out. The hotel did promptly send capable maintenance staff to address the issues once we reported them. They also comped our parking ($66) and added Hilton Honors points to our account. Otherwise, we had a great stay.

Pros: The property is in a great location, walkable to everything. Cons: Noisy in your hotel room, thin walls, hear room doors slamming throughout night, they are very strict and don't allow early check-in. Parking is $22-27, I parked across street in parking garage for $14

It was a very comfortable room. Bathroom sink just isn’t practical and our shower handle plate was loose and swinging. Otherwise nice for the price. It’s right on the waterfront

The woman who checked us in is named Erica. My daughter and I booked separate rooms, but she made sure that our rooms were close together. She was so friendly and real. Her welcoming us set such a positive tone for our stay.

As soon as you walk into this place, it smells like raw sewage. House keeping did a horrible job and a 3 year old child could make a bed much neater and nicer. Floors were dirty, towels unreplaced etc.. Went to the pool to enjoy some time in the sun, not a single towel to be found.. and the police were even called and showed up while we were out relaxing for no reason that I could see. When checking out, it took almost an hour to get a cart to load all of our stuff to take to the car from the 8th floor. I asked if they only had one cart for the entire hotel, and their response was "no we have 3" haha what?!?This place is not cheap by any means, and expecations were high. Staff was very rude and careless. I would not reccomend this place even to my worst enemy. What a shame, and will never waste my money on this place ever again.

The person who checked me in was not very welcoming. I asked if early check in was available and she promptly said it is usually an extra $150 but she'd try to waive it for 1 time. I'm not sure if it was waived although I said that I understood and could wait a couple hours, but that I was just checking to see if it was possible. She handed me the keys, no directions on parking, locating the room, WiFi, etc. I felt like I was being frowned upon for booking through a third party app.

We were able to check in early. The receptionist Jeanette was fantastic and she sent us champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary.

As someone who is a Hilton Honors member and an HGV owner, I never hesitate to stay at a Hilton property. However, this was a huge disappointment for the Hilton brand. Upon arrival we asked for a luggage cart and were told that people take them to their room and do not bring them back so they didn't know where any were located. No one offered assistance to help with luggage or locate at cart. When we got to the room, we discovered there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. The ice machine on our floor wasn't working. There were no vending machines on our floor. The floor below us wouldn't not accept our key to enter the vending area. We finally located ice on the floor above us but then discovered there was no lid on the ice bucket, only one glass in the room and 2 paper coffee cups. We were offered a cooler but one was never delivered. The second day of our stay we had to actually request housekeeping and they didn't show up until after 6:00 pm. The ladder in pool was broken and there was no caution sign or any kind of warning. The staff was not very friendly at all. The only thing about the entire property that actually met what I consider a Hilton standard was the steakhouse, (which only rents the space from the hotel but is not owned by it). Also they charge $22 per day for parking in an open lot, not covered parking. So basically for almost $200 per night, if I return to Wilmington again, I will definitely find somewhere else to stay.

The Staff was rude. Tyler the front desk Manager was rude and not accommodating. When asked to speak with someone else he responded as if he was the only option. The rooms where hot and humid. The hot water did not get hot. I will NEVER stay here again!

We loved Wilmington and this hotel is very nice and convenient to the river walk, restaurants and shopping. Lovely views! The only small negative was that they were painting the building while we were there so we had men outside our window for a couple of days, but the hotel gave us a huge discount for that inconvenience. They were willing to move our room as well but we didn’t want to move. Definitely stay here!

The staff, as always are top tier! I love that the River Walk and downtown businesses are right near the hotel.

Property location was fantastic right on the river and the river walk. Five minutes south to get to the front Street area with all the bars and restaurants. Room was very comfortable and the air conditioner was very quiet. Bathroom was nice except the toilet was rocking a little bit on its base and a few spots in the shower could use some fresh caulk. But other than that, it was great and I would stay there again.

Had to pay to park 20$ a day no free breakfast. No free coffee? No coffee in room no fridge. No microwave No coffee maker all for 200$ Nite

Older hotel that has made updates. View of USS NC Battleship was a huge plus. Wi-Fi worked good. Air, TV, and bathroom good. The hvac was noisy but good with noise at night. Restaurant breakfast is definitely on beach time…very slow. Parking on site or valet.

Great location! Convenient to shopping and dining. Wonderful Italian restaurant in the hotel.

The entire building has a very strange odor about it. Not like a cleaner or air freshener. The coffee maker in my room was filled with water with no idea how long it had been in there I went downstairs and there was no coffee to be found until the barista came in. There should be fresh coffee available 24/7!

Overall great location. I tried booking with my Hilton Membership but received a better discount through hotels.com and they said because I did not . I could not receive my membership points. So what good is the membership if you get ot cheaper elsewhere. Plus they have their own parking area but charge you 22.00 per day per vehicle. Truly did not see the purpose other than greed. Room and view were very cut but the bed was too firm for my taste can't say I slept well . If you want breakfast it is an additional 34.00 per person as well. I mean its the river not the beach resort but ok you do you.

The Hotel Ballast is beautiful and the rooms are very nice. The breakfast bar ($18 per person) was awful. The eggs tasted the cardboard and the potatoes were hard and over-cooked. It was very disappointing. The waitstaff and front-desk staff were very nice and accommodating. It is in a very scenic and convenient location.

Great view, nice room, friendly staff, great central location around local businesses. Breakfast selection in the hotel was good. Prices was a bit expensive but had an overall fantastic time.

The location, hotel hospitality, neighborhood, shops, and view were perfect. I would stay again. Last, the food from the hotel restaurant was very tasty.
