Very nice little classic old-school hotel, perfect place for me to spend the night on my road trip. I spent some time in the hot tub and it was awesome, the one complained I had was the Wi-Fi in my room was pretty weak and didn’t really work, but overall it was a great stay.

I've stayed here 5 or 6 times and it has become one of my favorite places to stay! Service is usually great, and I one of the owners is usually downstairs in the breakfast area during that time and talks to the guests--and he cleans up and restocks regularly. It's clean, affordable, and has a nice little outdoor hot tub.

This property is simply a hidden gem. Clean, safe, cute and cozy - loved the hot tub and rooms. Breakfast was as to be expected. I’d def stay here again, my only regret is that this property does not have river access as its pictures show. Not the end of the world, but def not accurate - still a nice slice of heaven here in Salida.

Loved our overnight stay. While it is an older hotel, we were impressed with the immaculate condition - paint, carpet, furnishings. The whole place was super clean and there was an attention to detail throughout. The breakfast options were much more than you normally see. Highly recommend a stay here.

The hotel is great. We loved the atmosphere, the staff and the location. The only downside was the beds were ridiculously soft. I like soft beds but these were something I had never experienced before. The breakfast was delicious the next morning and the staff is super helpful.

Overall very good stay. Here's a hint-- If you want the mountain view, ask for a room on the front side. If you want to be able to keep your window open and not hear the road noise, ask for a room in the back. The breakfasts are OK but not great.

The AC unit did not get cold enough for us. Also - the Mountain View is blocked by trees. There should not be an extra charge for a Mountain View. Other than these 2 things - it was a very cool spot to stay and we would stay there again… We loved the place. The 2 workers (maybe the owners) we interacted with were genuinely kind and helpful… We will be back!

Great little place. The breakfast was nice compared to other places we have stayed. One annoying thing was the lack of electrical outlets in the room. The main outlet was behind the bed where we couldn't get to it. It this day and age of cell phones, computers and such, it would have been nice to have reachable outlets. I had to unplug the tv. However, the room was clean and comfortable.

We enjoyed our 1 Night stay. The continental breakfast was above average and served in the very quaint lobby. My only suggestion is to improve the WiFi. We were in room 205 and could not stay connected . Perhaps a repeater is all that’s needed. However there was 5G cell service in the room.

The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. It was a good location although there is some road/traffic noise until the town settles down for the night. The staff was friendly and helpful, but I could have used the advice they offered at check-out, when I checked-in. Overall, it was a good value for the area and I might stay at Browns Canyon Inn again providing I could be assured that I had a different room. Unfortunately, we were assigned room 101. Avoid this room unless you suffer from chronic insomnia and are planning to be awake all night anyway. This room is directly under the steps and adjacent to the lobby where breakfast is served between 7-9am. For most of the night you will hear people going up/down the steps, dragging their bags since there’s no elevator, and talking loudly in the lobby. At 6am when they begin set up for breakfast you also have the pleasure of listening to cabinets open and close, and prep materials clang alongside of the staff chatter. In the morning, we complained about how noisy it was with the front desk staff and they suggested that for our next stay, we specifically “request a room on the backside of the hotel, not adjacent to the lobby, and NOT room 101.” They offered apologies for the noise, which we appreciated, but zero concessions.

Right on the main drag through Salida so convenient. Room was nice. We heard our neighbors a bit more than in some hotels but it was a weekend. Not set up for convenient phone charging (USB and a multitude of power plugs). Nice lobby ambiance. Breakfast area was small but you could always go back to your room.

Staff was very friendly end welcoming. Clean, well kept room. Entrance lobby was warm and inviting. Exterior was receiving a new, updated finish. Will be really excited to see the finished look. We travel to Salida every year and this is our pick for accommodations.

Brown's Canyon has found that sweet spot between the high-priced lodge and the chain motels. Reasonably priced, yet well maintained & kept up to date, Brown's is a little quirky with some extra touches not always noticed on the first stay. The other returning clients one meets here (like me) know. Conversations between guests seem to come easier here than at a chain hotel. The staff is friendly, local, caring, and helpful.

The hotel itself is fine, breakfast was above average for this type of property. The check-in service was terrible. The clerk didn't want to understand I had two rooms for a couple other people traveling with me and charged them a new room and charged me to two rooms as well. No reason one person would need two rooms. She didn't want to fix it or discuss it. Beware. All I can hope is hotels.com will fix it.

Our stay was great from the time we got there till we checked out. Breakfast was nice lots of choices, rooms were clean. We walked to downtown/river walk area every day. Even walked home at night with no worries. Highly recommend this hotel. We will always stay there on our visits to the area.

I’d love to give a 5* review but this place falls short in a few areas. Location is nice, it’s cute and cozy. But we had a few issues. One, we arrived late one night to find that our room cards didn’t work (either one), the front desk was not staffed (a sign said “closed”), and no one picked up the phone for the hotel. Somehow my husband was able to get the attention of someone who works there who I think just got out of bed and handed us a card that thankfully worked. Pretty concerning for a while though. The other issues where the pillows and beds were the most uncomfortable I’ve ever had the misfortune to sleep on, and the seating area for breakfast is inadequate. We either had to stand and eat or take our food back to our room. Other than that, staff seemed nice and everything was ok.
