The pool and hot tubs are wonderful, though some other guests rendered the hot tubs inoperable by being irresponsible. The pool and soaking tub were still warm. The staff here is very friendly and helpful—even when some guests are thoughtless. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. It is great that they welcome dogs. The breakfast has great coffee and a lot of cereal and toast options.

The walls are pretty thin and per usual the people above us were walking back and forth early in the morning and it was noisy. The parking lot was very crowded and hard to find a spot to park after 10lm.

We have stayed here before and while it is an old hotel the customer service and fun of the hot tubs and pool made up for the age. This time, the front desk clerk was grumpy and the hot tubs were dirty.

This little gem was absolutely amazing for our weekend getaway. Dog friendly. Fire pit. Hot tub. Vintage pool. It’s a motel. It’s not the ritz. The rooms have been beautifully renovated and updated and the location was great for our needs. We will definitely stay there again!

We have stsyed hete a few times, and its always pretty comfortable and quiet. Room is usually clean, but a little run down and could use a goid deep clean. The pool always feels nice and if thrre arent too many guests the hot tubs are usually available too.

Overall the place was clean, quiet, and tidy. This is more of a first world problem. Our problem was the parking. Limited parking. Difficult to find a spot. And we had to leave early and they wanted the keys returned to front desk, but didn’t open until 730am. We left at 500am.

The floors were filthy. The pictures are very misleading. Not what we thought it was going to be. There is no coffee pot in the room and there’s no place to get coffee until the office opens. 😒

Our room was less than 50 yards from the busy US50 highway - traffic noise was minimal but noisier in the morning.Pathetic continental breakfast. NO HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES! (put your used bath towels and garbage outside your door; towels were NOT replenished.) Plastic cups vs glasses in room and "breakfast" area. Tiny bathroom, barely room to turn around, no bath safety mat. Broken TV remote, it mostly worked but the battery compartment cover kept falling off, told staff. In other words: You Get What You Pay For!!

This property is extremely outdated, the shower was so small I could barely fit in it- I've literally seen rv showers bigger (and I am a small person) the water pressure was laughable. The sheets on the bed were stained and had holes in them. It was hard to tell if the room was dirty or just old. The AC was loud, and barely worked. If the tv worked I couldn't figure it out. The ice machine was broken my entire stay (and appeared it had been broken for longer- no maintenance done at all while I was there). I had a room with a conjoining door and could hear every word the neighbors were saying so the room was loud. Oh, and the key cards disabled if they got near literally anything. Mine disabled multiple times per day despite my best efforts to try to prevent it.

We’ve stayed at The Loyal Duke many times in past years and this year. This stay brought a little disappointment as our room wasn’t as clean as before. Upon unloading our car I noticed what appeared to be dog hair all over the floor and on the couch. The floor didn’t appear to have been cleaned. The Duvet cover had a huge rip in the center and the fitted sheet had stains. The baseboards needed a good wipe down and behind the TV and microwave needed to be cleaned. The king bed was pretty broke down and should probably be replaced. I went to the desk and asked for a dust mop or broom. The office staff offered us another room but we had already unloaded. I said I would just sweep the floor and call it good. He gave me a broom and I swept the floor and we stayed in the room. In the past our rooms were always extremely clean. We had just stayed two weeks prior and the accommodations were clean and comfortable.

Loyal Duke Lodge was great! Conveniently located on the edge of Salida. It was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. Morning coffee drinkers - make sure to ask for a single serve coffee maker when you check in. You could hear noise such as people moving around or televisions on. It was nothing crazy, but for light sleepers it might affect your sleep a bit. Overall, I would definitely stay there again. The few things I noted are not enough to keep me from me coming back.

We were in a king room, bed was way too soft, the air unit kept cutting on & off all night and it was very loud. No tissues in the bathroom, found some just as we were leaving shoved back in a dark shelf which is part of the only nightstand in the room. There’s only about 16” on the other side, of the bed next to the wall. Very dark room!

Location was convenient, parking was easy, checkout was accommodating, and the pool/hot tub was a nice treat. The only complaint is that the rooms aren't very insulated. We could hear our neighbors entire conversation through the wall.

The location was convenient and close to town. Amenities were OK but nothing fancy. Beds were comfortable. Floors and sheets were clean. The bathroom has a 2‘ x 2‘ shower that nobody could actually even move around in. The water was in our faces and we could not move to wash our bodies because the walls were elbow to elbow. The bathroom was less to be desired. It had a little bit of a smell, and our faucet sink had no place to put stuff. The place doesn’t offer housekeeping. However, there was an envelope for a tip at the end of your stay? One of the staff members wasn’t very friendly and seemed like he couldn’t be too bothered. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Avoid unless you're just crashing for a few hours. The photos mainly show the reception area - big red flag. The actual rooms are dark, outdated, and incredibly basic. Floors were dirty throughout the property when we arrived. The biggest issue is noise. This place is completely unsuitable for anyone needing sleep. Three floors, cars parked right outside rooms, pet-friendly policy, and zero soundproofing means constant noise from other guests, car doors, and animals from late evening through early morning. We brought industrial earplugs and still couldn't sleep. For the price they charge, you expect much better. There are no redeeming features to justify the cost. Only book this if you're arriving very late and leaving very early and don't actually need to sleep. Otherwise, pay a bit more and stay somewhere that won't leave you exhausted

Nice little stop at a reasonable price for a business trip I needed a good night's sleep and a GOOD shower. The bathroom and shower were my only issues. The bathroom is just showing its age around the corners, which can make it look dirty, and I wonder if there's water damage you're sleeping next to. The shower itself is basically a closet... at 6'6, it was hard to turn around and get clean. Water pressure was an issue both times I used it as well.

We ended up not staying here after the two ladies up front wouldnt let us check in till 3 and we drove 18 hours to stay here. All we wanted to do is get the paper work all done then we would have came back and just had to get our keys

Poor front desk help was the only person on staff on a Sunday night. We had an issue with the 1st room and in the 2nd room, the tv was not working. The front desk girl got it to work but it took her away from working. Although, she was very nice about the problem. Parking was very very tight.

The check in lady was terrible. Rude, no communication skills and basically had the attitude of not wanting to be there. I would never go back or recommend this place because of her.

This is the second time we've stayed at Royal Duke. The first time, we could not get into the room because a mechanic had the replace the door lock 45 minute wait. We thought it was a fluke. This time, we had two rooms, and neither door lock worked. The manager was very rude and finally had to come and let us in. She claimed it must be the cold, but hello, this is Salida during the winter. She also informed us there would be no breakfast because the guests from the previous weekend are all the food? What? They allow dogs and we found dog crap on the stairs and hallways. The upside is the beds are comfortable and the room was clean. The pillows leave a lot to be desired. We will be looking for a new place in Salida, since we come here often.

Pool and hot tub were great. Customer service from the staff left a lot to be desired. After being challenged by the staff when I was trying to check in and a cold reception from the staff during breakfast, I get better customer service from the DMV.

Charging a modern suite price for an outdated and antiquated dismal looking room. The staff member checking me in was grouchy beyond belief. She had three parties all basically apologizing to her for checking in to her motel. We were all going out of our way to make her load lighter, and giving well wishes. But never a smile or an acknowledgement of any kind.

When we arrived, we were given a key to a room that would not work. When I went back down to the office to get it fixed, she made me wait even though the couple in front of me said that she could help me since I had already checked in and just needed a new key, but she told them that I needed to wait. Not sure why, but she was not very nice, She said there was nothing wrong with my key and sent me back on my way. I told her it did not work. She said she come up in a minute and help. She never did come up after about 10 minutes. She waved me back down to the office for the third time to give us a new room. No apologies , no accommodations made just your new key. I felt like we were a bother to her rather than a guest. Rooms are dated, the Continental breakfast was lacking for sure. Won’t stay there again.

The check in experience was amazing. We unknowingly booked a room that was on the 2nd floor. This was unfortunate due to our 87 lb dog has a torn ACL and is unable to climb stairs. They were able to accommodate us and move us to a 1st floor room. We have stayed here many times and it will continue to be our go to pick!

Loyal Duke Lodge is a great location for both mountain access and proximity to downtown Salida. The hot tubs and indoor pool are a nice perk and the rooms are well-equipped for families spending most of the day on the mountain.

Excellent property for a weekend Get away. It’s literally 1 mile from downtown. Rooms were clean and smells great upon entering. Walmart is just down the street less than half a mile. Continental breakfast served in the morning. I’ll definitely book again

I was worried when we first pulled up feeling like we were too far from the downtown area where all the shops and things are, but they have a shuttle that runs making it super convenient to head there. Really nice continental breakfast in the morning. Plenty of coffee. Comfortable beds. No complaints by me.

Love dog friendly hotels, especially those that are really clean like this one! They have some lovely outdoor space to relax, friendly staff, and a nice continental breakfast. The A/C was a bit loud and the blinds only open up, so you can’t have natural light or the window open with any privacy or I would have given 5 stars!

The pool and hot tubs are wonderful, though some other guests rendered the hot tubs inoperable by being irresponsible. The pool and soaking tub were still warm. The staff here is very friendly and helpful—even when some guests are thoughtless. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. It is great that they welcome dogs. The breakfast has great coffee and a lot of cereal and toast options.

Little bit of a pig with lip stick. The staff was awesome and very helpful. My trim at the bottom of the door was coming off, so there was a gap to the outside. Also the tub felt and sounded like I might end up in the room below. The a/c worked, the beds were comfortable and the place was quiet.

Our AC did not work in the first room, in the second room the toilet brook in the middle of the night so we had to rigged it. The location was good, loved the park crossed the street, staff was nice and friendly, town is darling
