Best bang for the buck in Salida. Staffing is limited but everyone I encountered was friendly and responsive. Older hotel means the walls and ceilings are not sound proof so noise of other residents carries into your room. Lots of construction workers stay here leaving cigarettes and beer cans in the parking lot but staff quickly cleaned them up every morning. I didn’t use the workout area but it was clean and all the exercise equipment looked to be in good shape. Room was small but clean and had recently been remodeled. Hotel sits outside downtown Salida but it’s a quick and safe one mile walk or ride to downtown.

The service was great, the rooms and grounds were clean, and the continental breakfast was quite exceptional. However, it was very unfortunate the property did not have a pool, a vending machine, and as quite dated. I had to go off-site to find bottled water, sodas, and a swimming pool.

We were impressed upon arrival to Gateway as the front landscaping & lobby were so welcoming! We loved the log furniture, antler chandelier, live plants, bronze artwork, etc. Staff was extremely friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Enclosed outdoor hot tub was charming; clean with ambiant lighting. Our room was renovated, nice-sized, clean, plenty of towels. Breakfast area was most pleasant with lots of options and well attended to by staff. Rate was most affordable. We highly recommend Gateway Inn & Suites!

Nice hotel for the price. Really wanted to take advantage of the hot tub after skiing, but could only get a couple of the jets to work so that was a big disappointment.

This is an older motel. I was on the first floor and the noise from every move of the guest above me was loud and irritating. The hot tub was in a small hut and not pleasant.

Nice roadside motel. Clean and quiet. You can tell the owners take pride in their business. Hot tub. Fun game room for kids….and grownups too lol. Billiard table, ping pong, etc.

Pull through parking spaces available which made parking with camper easy. While the location of the hot tub in the center of the parking lot is quirky, it was clean and soothing after camping and hiking in the mountains.

Very clean,quiet rooms. Great selection for breakfast, probably one of the best ones I’ve seen in a while. Washer/dryer on site are convenient! Kind of a pain to walk into town but definitely doable. More of a comercial area.

Rooms and public areas were very clean. Rooms are pretty small. There is also something off-putting in this property's guest relations...from the passive aggressive comments that "your room might not be ready yet because we arrived a few minutes before check-in to the list of do's and don'ts rules sent twice before arrival. When we arrived we were told housekeeping would not be provided each day of our stay, only "every other day." We had no alternative but to say "okay." Finally, the hot tub was never opened at the 4 o' clock opening time. We had to ask each day for it to be opened. Little things that all add up to not wanting to stay there again.

We appreciated that we were able to have an early check-in. The room was very spacious. We did discover that the floor in the main area was dirty, as walking around barefoot in the room on the hardwood flooring left the bottom of our feet quite dirty.

Overall, this was a nice place if you didn't need access to the internet. The wi-fi was too slow for most of our needs; I went down to McDonald's when I needed to work. I didn't realize we had been to Salida before; we had stayed at the Sinawav next door. We must like the area!

I really enjoyed my 4-night stay at the hotel. Honestly I did not expect much when I booked it. But everything exceeded my expectations. Room is clean, spacious and quiet. The location is convenient. The services were excellent. The front deck lady went above and beyond to accommodate my request for room change. Breakfasts were excellent with good choices of variety. I will definitely stay here for my next hiking trips.

The room was clean but obviously an older property. There was no “closet” but they did have a wardrobe. The lighting was so dark one could not see into the wardrobe. There was no liner on the shower curtain, and the air conditioner was not really working.

We were supposed to stay in a room with a king size bed with a Mountain View but you could only see the parking lot view and we ended up with a queen size bed. I would’ve complained about it but I chose not to because we had a very exhausting day and we were just tired and wanted to lay down and relax. It was definitely a small room and the bed was super comfy, which was probably the only plus side. The AC unit wasn’t working properly which was basically like a window unit. It was super hot in the beginning of the evening and then super cold in the middle of the night. The hot tub is basically sitting in the middle of the parking lot in some kind of shed type building. The breakfast wasn’t what I would’ve hoped for because they didn’t have any hot meals, except for waffles. It was basically just cereal, fruits, hard boiled eggs, muffins and waffles. I’m very disappointed in what I thought was going to be a cute little hotel/inn but didn’t end up being that way.

When I checked in to the hotel I was told that quiet time was 10pm and that it was strictly enforced. First night was fine, second night there were noisy people next door. Tried to call front desk and there was no answer. Tried calling several times, no answer. Next morning I informed the person working the desk. I was told that I was supposed to leave a message and they would address the situation the next morning. That kind of management does nothing for a situation that needs attention immediately! Probably would not stay here again. Also, property needs updating.

Our vehicle broke down but we were able to make it to Salida early in the day. The staff worked quickly to get us into our room within maybe an hour. It was so nice to be able to check in early and be there in comfort all day!

Our reservation had somehow been canceled prior to our arrival. The hotel was sold out so it took 20 minutes for the hotel staff to try to figure out what they could do. They eventually checked us in and said they would figure out the rest later. I understand mistakes can happen, but it was frustrating to lose our reservation and have to take so long to check in. They also only gave us one key at first since they were experiencing a shortage. Room was clean, but hot tub was only set at 98 degrees.

We had a great experience with check in, the front desk clerk worked with us and let us check in early as he had one available so we could get ready for a wedding. The property is rustic a little outdated, but beds were nice and the room was clean. Stayed nice and cool and was quiet. Overall a great experience.

The front desk staff was friendly. I was staying over the 4th of July to hang out with family. The hotel was clean and just what I needed for a good nights sleep. Plenty of restaurants and downtown is just a few blocks away. Nothing too fancy about this place but I would stay here again.

This place must be the best-kept secret in the state. Rooms are large and comfortably furnished; bathroom may be old, loke the rest of the place, but had modern features. The breakfast is as over-the-top as I've seen in a few decades of travel, on business and for pleasure. The hospitality of the owner is beyond reproach; the labor he has invested to make this place a desirable destination has paid off wonderfully. For travel in that part of the country, it now is my go-to place.

the breakfast is a clusterf…— the coffee station is jammed into an impossible cranny that creates impatience and chaos. Coffee should be easily accessible. Put other things ( waffle maker, toaster ect into that “closet”, and coffee out front. The apple juice tasted diluted and weak. Otherwise it’s OK.

We stay in Salida multiple times a year and have stayed at several of the hotels in the area. I can say, this hotel was much cleaner than any other we've stayed at. Also, very quiet. Easy parking. Good variety of breakfast foods, but the eggs were powdered and barely edible. Coffee was watered down. Apart from that, good selection. We'd definitely stay again.
