Convenient location with restaurants close by. Hotel is old and run down with a bit of lipstick. Chose the hotel as it advertised a swimming pool, but found out at check-in that it was closed for the season as the water bill was too high.

We had to park around the back of the building and walk around the building to check in. The back door leads to stairs inside, we couldn't bring our suitcases, etc. in that way. We had a king size bed in our room but we had little pillows, maybe 12 inches long. Hardly enough for an adult head. Certainly appropriate matching king size pillows make sense.

The property was easy access to the interstate and there was some good eating establishments close by. The only thing that would help make it nicer is that they should have access to the swimming pool from inside hotel and it should have been heated.

Positives: -24-hour Nescafe machine in dining area -the eating area was comfortable -comfortable bed -good shower pressure, temp Negatives: -Pool not in service. I suspect no maintenance people. Pool is also very small. -A large fan blowing toward the main entrance. Perhaps an omen. . . -2 elevators, but both are very small. -On the stairwell from the lobby to 3d floor, the rubber edge to one of the steps was dislodged. -Stairwells were in need of vacuuming. -We rented two rooms. There was spray in the bowl of the toilet in 1st room. Tiffany quickly got us a new room. No issue with toilet, but the drain stopper in the shower was broken. -Replacement room, our second room smelled of sweat. -No vent fans in the bathrooms. -In the replacement room the microwave needed to be unplugged to use the keurig. -Fridge in our second room didn't work. -AC unit in our second room was powerful but loud. -Closet door in our second room was hard to open, and the door frame casing was not fully nailed into the wall. -Near the ice machine on the 4th floor there was a black/water stain which was dried, obviously old. -Housekeeping and maintenance rooms were wide open (not locked) late at night. An obvious safety issue. -No oatmeal, only a few bananas when the breakfast window opened ("out" until the next delivery). More food was delivered at 830 but never opened. All told, an understaffed location in need of renovation (popcorn ceilings, smudged walls, etc.). Overpriced for what you get.

Friendly staff, very clean comfortable room, good breakfast. There is an Outback steakhouse, a Chic Filet and a Mcdonalds only a few steps away for nearby food choices. There is also a small convenient store in the lobby for snacks and drinks. Would have given it excellent rating but for all the ice machines were out of order and had to drive to a store to buy ice after I had already settled in for the evening.

Staff was very nice. Rooms were basic yet comfortable, but bathroom was very small - you could barely close the door while sitting at the toilet. Breakfast was decent - eggs, rotating meat, waffle maker, yogurt - with food refreshed quickly. Coffee was very weak but there is a latte/cappuccino machine. Outside pool was nice but not very clean. You have to walk outside to get to it. The big minus for me was housekeeping- there is none. Rooms are refreshed once in 3 days - I really thought those days are behind us. Outback Steakhouse next door is really great, we dined twice because it was so good and there is a 10% discount for BW customers.

Took 10 minutes waiting at front desk before someone showed up to check us in. Also pool was closed as it was all torn up. Whole reason we picked this hotel was pool for kids. Wish hotel.com or hotel would state this and when selecting hotel with pool it doesn’t show up in search. Outside that nice rooms and breakfast was good.

Almost called the cops on us. Worst experience among accommodations so far. We got the first room on the first floor but the room was dirty and there was a very strong smell of sewage throughout that level. They offer to bring an air freshener spray but because that place was disgusting we asked the other room on other level. So we got room on the third floor. Trash on the carpet, stained bed linen, dirty furniture, dirty towel, running toilet. I was so tired to keep moving to other place, they promised to get fresh linen but we decided to use our own goods. Next day they made some cleaning in the room but that was just a little bit better than before. We spent the whole day outside the hotel, only coming back at night and going to sleep. At nine o'clock the next morning, the cleaning person came into our room without saying a word and just looked to see what we were doing here. At that point, I ran out of patience, I went down to the front desk, where there were several people and they told me that we not supposed to be here at all. They started telling all kinds of lies. We packed up and leave, and they had a good laugh. They ruined our vacation. Very disappointed

Entire hotel had a strong smell to it, almost like moldy carpet. The room itself smelled a bit as well and the tub was all banged up. The water came out yellow upon first turning the shower on, although it was fine after running it for 10 seconds or so. Carpet in room was dirty and sticky. Beds and furniture were in good condition. Breakfast was good enough, the high point was the staff, they were all excellent and extremely friendly.

Room had a bad smell as well as the hallways. Found hairs folded in the 'clean' towels as well as mold and dirt in the room. The mattress was hard as a rock and for the price, we wished we would have drove 800 miles straight thru instead of stopping.

I booked this hotel from the 8.6 review on hotels.com and the pictures on the listing but when I got to the hotel it was dark and dingy and clearly the pictures were of another hotel exterior. It honestly looked and smelled like a nursing home. The elevator was clunky and another guest commented that it scared them. The hallway upstairs was stinky and musty and look like it belonged in a Stephen King novel. Doors to rooms had signs on them saying they were out of order and there was trim from the walls laying on the floor. Our room did not have its room number on the door, it must have fallen off at some point. Inside the room was musty and in the bathroom there was paint peeling off the wall and stains in the tub. That is when we decided to abandon the hotel and take the $170 loss and stay at the Tru by Hilton across the highway. I would never recommend this Best Western Plus to anyone.

This was a one night stay on way to a vacation destination. Best Western use to be our go to stay, but now I am steering away from them. The consistency of the brand r are varied and the BW Plus feels like a regular BW. But cost more! This stay helped me remember why I do not book BW anymore. The bed and pillows felt lumpy and the shower had black mold growing on the caulk. I feel like the quality has really gone down in the last few years.

After a long day of driving, we checked in at Best Western Beckley at 6:15pm, went to dinner and returned to the hotel at 8:00. Unpacked and settled into our room, turned on the TV and had no service. Called 4 times to front desk and got no answer. Finally went down to the desk and reported the problem. The individual said she would come and check on it. Upon arrival at our room, she said it was not something she could fix and offered another room. We were exhausted and unpacked and said no, but we wanted a credit on this room when we checked out in the morning - the attendant agreed. In the morning, the management did not want to give us any credit, I would not accept this and after 20 minutes, they finally relented o a measly $25 credit. This was unacceptable, we won't stay there again!

Checkin was easy and the staff member was very friendly and welcoming. When my TV had no signal, she promptly came up and got it working. My room was clean, comfortable and had good amenities but needs attention (i.e. carpet ragged/crunchy, tub badly chipped, phone not functional). Location is very good good with a variety of restaurants within walking distance.

The hotel is a bit older, but overall it was okay for a short stay. The bed was comfortable, which made for a good night’s rest. Breakfast was average, nothing special but enough to start the day. One of the best things was the location—it's surrounded by plenty of good dining options within walking distance.

The room was very comfortable. Air conditioner worked so well I ended up turning it off. Bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed the high back chair for relaxing. Bathroom was very clean, plenty of towels, etc. Was a bit on small size (crowded). Only real complaint and a minor one, charging ports for devices have gotten smaller and only had port for large USB.

Our room was disappointing. It was small, the beds were small, the bathroom was very tiny. A sliding door on the bathroom would open up a little more space in the bathroom. The shower curtain needed replacement.

I booked my room thru expedia. When I went to check in I was told that the room wasn’t available because they’re sold out. I asked the check in person Ember if the room was comparable and she said she doesn’t know because she hasn’t seen the rooms then rolled her eyes. I was tired so I said whatever ok. I went upstairs and as I opened the door I was hit with a gross musty smell. I would’ve just dealt with it until I walked into the bathroom to see a tub that was filthy with clumps of what looked like bubbly peroxide and what appeared to be blood all over it. I took a picture and I grabbed my things and went and told her that I needed another room and showed her the picture of the tub She said there wasn’t any more king rooms available. I asked what she did have available and if I could see it. This girl was so rude. I asked her if she would shower in a shower that looked like this and she said unlike me she can afford an Airbnb so she wouldn’t have to. I was shocked and asked her for a refund and she refused and told me to call her manager tomorrow and rolled her eyes. Ember needs to be fired and this hotel needs to be shut down

Mandy checked us in and she is a true ambassador for this property. What a lovely, friendly woman. Our room looks updated and is very comfortable. The bathroom has not yet been done and definitely the tub could use an update, but for a one night stay on our way south this is perfect.

Only stayed overnight. Tried to call multiple times and couldn’t reach anyone. Someone would pick up and then hang up. Called the corporate office and they were very helpful. But it was suggested that I call directly to ensure that they knew we would be checking in really late. Finally reached someone and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. But, I decided to call back later. When I did no one answered. I called multiple times throughout my drive there. When I arrived I had to wait for someone because she was outside smoking.

The front desk called in the evening to check that we had everything we needed and that the room was satisfactory. They couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast bar was well stocked...hot scrambled eggs, ham and sausages...I loved the fresh yogurt with fruit and granola.

front desk was very nice, as well as the room-super clean. highly disappointed with the breakfast. staff was slightly rude and “ran out” of most options. eggs were cold, hash browns tasted so old and stale. breakfast was from 7-10 and we got down there around 8 to be told they “ran out” of most of the items.

Greatly enjoyed my stayed here! The room was very comfortable, quiet, super clean, with a great view of trees and sky (5th floor, back side of hotel). I was amazed at the scope of the breakfast offerings - eggs, meats, waffles (you make in griddle), yogurt and toppings, expresso coffee drinks (from machine but tasty), bagels, and more. And the breakfast room itself was spacious and pleasant. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. All in all I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this location!

The hotel was very busy with only one person at the front desk so it took a while to check in, longer than is reasonable. Otherwise the hotel and stay was fine. However, at breakfast, because the hotel was busy, they ran out of bacon quickly and we were advised that no more would be served which was off putting. Other selections were limited (no yogurt or fruit) and they also ran out of coffee.
