Microtel Inn & Suites Beckley East

I knew that Microtel had small rooms, but these rooms are too small. All of the ice machines had been removed and I could only get ice on the first floor. I will probably not stay at a microtel in the future

Nice room and very quiet. The pool was fun for the kids. The breakfast was excellent. And the staff is very nice. I will be staying there again.

Pool cold . Dirry bath

Indoor pool extremely cold, I assumed which is my first problem- it would be heated if needed or have some opening for sun to gain warmth.

This was an overnight stay on a road trip back. The bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly. The rooms and the pool could definitely use some upgrades. Also, the bathroom doors can accidentally lock while you are not in the bathroom. If this happens you can use a screwdriver or wedge something into the lock to unlock it without bothering the staff. There were no towels at the pool area also.

The property was clean and staff was friendly. The exercise room only had a treadmill, eliptical, and bike. It needs a bit more (weights).

We were quite disappointed actually. The manager was very nice but when I checked in for the two rooms I had reserved, he was very vague about how to best reach our rooms on the third floor. However, it was obvious why!! Our rooms were on the third floor and the elevator wasn’t working so we had to climb three floors of two sets of steps with our luggage and such. He could’ve been polite and told me that the only elevator was not working there. It compounded the problem that we are four elderly widow women all in our 70’s and one of the ladies was having a an issue with a severe cut on her leg that was in a soft cast and a steel boot on her that leg. Had we been staying more than one night we would’ve left. It seems when there’s a complaint about a hotel since I have been using Hotels.com.nothing is ever done. When you make a complaint or concern why doesn’t Hotels.com contact me or even attempt to do some type of compensation? I will give Hotels.com another six months of use. If we continue to have issues, I will stop using Hotels.com, and I certainly won’t recommend anyone signing up for it. This was totally uncalled for. The manager was very nice, but next time be honest up front.

The floor in the pool was peeling off. The paint on the walls are peeling off. My kids had flooring paint all over them. To be clear. The website says pool is closed until further notice. But the office staff said it was open. The staff were very kind and helpful. In no way is my review negative towards them. They were all super helpful and kind. But the facilities shouldn’t even be open.

No elevator, poor breakfast

Staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Great value! I wish the pool was better maintained.

The room was clean but the sheets and towels could stand to be replaced. Both had stains on them. Otherwise very happy with our stay!

Tu bathroom was dirty not refrigerated in the room the sink was broken and the shower handle broke

The room we were given had been recently cleaned but the carpet was still wet. The worst part of it was waking up the next morning and being itchy all over my body. Bed bugs without question!!! I will never stay there again.

Our room was extremely moist and humid. The carpet had moisture (had to wear shoes in the room). There was mold on the bathroom walls/ceiling. There were gnats in our room.

The room smelled like old cigarettes. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work and the ceiling had mold all over the ceiling. Breakfast was pretty basic, which was fine but the plastic silverware was so flimsy that you could hardly get it out of the plastic and cutting the waffle was nearly impossible. The toilet paper and facial tissue was also super cheap and scratchy.

The room smelled like an old dirty dishrag. We bought some Lysol from the Dollar General down the street, sprayed all the bathroom surfaces and even that couldn’t eliminate the smell. Thankfully the linens were clean and the bed was comfortable. I hope that the smell was merely the cleaning solution they used, but it was bad enough that we won’t return to this hotel if we are in the area.

There was broken mirror shards on the bed in my first room and I asked for a second room. The second one smelled so horribly of cigarette smoke, the smell made it hard to breath, hard to sleep, and it got into all of my clothes. There were ants in the bathroom. The pool room was creepy, the doors to the outside were not all kept locked, and the "gym" only had 3 pieces of equipment and all were broken. The staff was nice, but I would never stay here again.

Property was nice, you get what you pay for. No fridge in room . Small rooms but the bed was amazing very comfortable!!

The tv was too high. Not enough channels.

Staff was very nice. Tv didn’t work. Toilet seat loose. Other than that it was a good stay.

Really disappointed, I expected more especially considering the price. Terrible night unless you enjoy noise. Small room, no amenities at all.

Door did not lock properly. No frig or micro in room Room was right next to the lobby and reservation desk, walls are thin therefore very noisy. Itravel to NC several times a year and I always reserved early online and yet I got a roon next to the lobby. Changing motels/hotel now when I travel this route.

Needs updating. Sounded like elephants walking above us.

Our room was damp. If you felt the air conditioner it seemed to be working but the room was damp and our linen was damp. The door on the bathroom had to be lifted in order to close it. The screws in the hinges were loose. The linen was clean. The shower worked very well. The hot water was available and abundant.

Bed comfortable

Friendly clerk at checkin. Room was decent, tv wasn’t set up properly and required manual intervention at every power on. Bathroom floors need mopped between guests. Room door didn’t close great and it looks like it’s been broken open several times. Breakfast is perfect for non-diabetic people…carbs, carbs and more carbs. No protein to speak of and the first table we sat at had a loose tabletop. Could use some cleanup and either don’t offer continental breakfast or add hard boiled eggs or something healthier than a Danish and waffle.

I had the best experience here. I was in a bad situation when I arrived and James (the evening desk clerk) was aware and was amazing as well as throughout my stay!! The manager Jeremy was great and explained my charges (they looked a little weird) so I understood the hotel lingo. The housekeeping staff were just as amazing!! 10/10, 5 stars! Would stay again if I ever find myself in WV again!

Go to precheck in online as the text prompts you to do? Have a work call at 11:30 thinking you could pay the extra $20 for 1pm check out and take the call in the room? Sweet. Until 11:01 comes around and you\'re harrassed to get out because "nobody told me" when the gentleman i checked in with confirmed late checkout. Housekeeping knocking on the door, calls, all "when are you checking out?!?!" Check your reservation, and what you charged me for.

When arriving the nice lady at the front desk could not find a vacant room for me or the family waiting behind me to check in. I had called earlier in the night to inform the hotel I would be checking in later than expected. All rooms that were listed as empty and reserved for registered guest were occupied by unregistered, unpaid, guest. It was 2:00 AM and took 3 hours before I was given access to room 312, 320, 119, and settled in room 122 that was not supposed to be rented due to maintenance. Housekeeping knocked at the door around 7:30 confused that there was someone occupying the room. I was not given a receipt as I had requested when checking out. I was asked to explain the details of my check in because the lady working the front desk could not find where I had checked in or paid and explained that she had received calls concerning the occupied rooms with no names attached to them. She explained that guest were given permission and keys to stay in the hotel for free and that was the reason there was a shortage of rooms for guest like myself, and the Smith family of four, waiting behind me that had reserved a room on Hotels.com. I had the room for a total of 5 hours and could not get a receipt. I was advised to call Corporate and inform them of the situation.

I will be calling to talk to the manager in the morning because it was not acceptable and we didn’t not stay. When we got there, there was random broken concrete in the driveway and the outside trash was overflowing onto the sidewalk by the front door. I tried to convince my family it would be ok but it wasn’t. I spoke with the receptionist and when she asked for my license and credit card, I asked if we could look at the room first given the other things we had seen. When we got in the elevator, it was not clean and clearly had not been cleaned for some time as there were sticky spots of something on the floor. When we got up to our room, we walked in and it looked like there were all kinds of lumps in the bed. The sheets had a stain on them, the air conditioner looked like it was falling out of the wall, the bed skirt was not tucked in all the way around and it just didn’t smell good. My teenage boys were a little freaked out and my husband, who is a janitor, said it was obvious things weren’t being properly cleaned and maintained. We went back down to the front desk and handed the lady the room key and told her we would need to cancel our reservation because of the condition of the room and she told me I would have to take it up with Expedia. We left and I went through an online chat with a customer service rep who called the hotel and then told me I would have to take up my request with the hotel because I didn’t pay in advance. I then called the hotel.

They double billed me and now I am having a difficult time getting the payment returned. This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. No complaints the 1st time!

I did not like getting to my room and there was someone booked in that room already. The door to the bathroom has a hole in it it doesn’t close properly and there was to hair dryer…just the holes in the wall where the hair dryer goes. Extremely poor conditions for the price I am paying for this room. I would like to be contacted by the manager.

STAFF WAS EXCELLENT AND FRIENDLY

I stayed for four days. I was given a dirty room with spilled food on the sheets and a non-restocked bathroom. There was spilled drink that dried on tha night stands. The carpet had not been vacuumed, so there was food crumbs on the floor. Housekeeping did not clean the room until I complained on day three to the front desk, and the towels were not replaced even then.

We originally had on our reservation 3:00am check in. We drove for hours, I called at 3:20 told them we would arrive in 45 minutes the girl said ok. We got there and they SOLD our room at midnight!!!!! She told us!! No help in finding room at another hotel!! Then 3 days later they charged us for the room.

Exactly what we were looking for, quick off the highway and back on as we continued our travel south.

The hotel is close to main highways, shopping. I would definitely recommend it. It would be better if the water in the pool was heated. The continental breakfast could be better. I have visited this hotel for years but I have noticed corners being cut. Hopefully management will not let this hotel run down. It’s a great place to stay and it’s pet friendly!

Great location and service.

Be careful there were two of these properties within 10 minutes of each other. We booked one property and unfortunately drove to the other property? They look very similar in the listing just two different colors.. Upon driving to the location, we went through a sketchy part of town. When we got there was pretty much in the middle of nowhere? There were people in the parking lot tailgating? Or rather drinking beer and sitting in folding chairs. The first thing we see is a big burly man asleep on the couch, sitting up with his cell phone in his hand? Snoring? The front desk agent Very nice and professional. I expressed my concern with the neighborhood. The people drinking in the parking lot and the guy asleep. She told me she’s been with the company for a couple months and the new manager was trying to upgrade it. They don’t rent to locals because they turn it into a party house. There is a sign at the desk saying you need an out-of-state license to be able to rent a room. Concerns and expressed them to the girl. She did try to put me at ease which I appreciated. When we arrived on our floor, it reeked /smoke Our room It was very outdated. The TV was placed at a crooked angle on top of a bureau. We told Ourselves this is just a place to spend the night. When we got up. Guess who was fast asleep in the back office with his cell phone in his hand? Burley guy that was sleeping on the couch last night. Contl breakfast - Apples soft, bananas, mushy, No protein- breads

The overall stay was fine, but we were told the free breakfast was served from 7:30 - 9:30 but when we went down at 8:30 they were already out of milk, waffles and creamer for the coffee. We still had to drive to another restaurant and pay for breakfast for my family of four. Depending on a free breakfast and then getting nothing was so disappointing when all we wanted was a quick breakfast and to get on the road.

Rooms are getting tired. Stains and toilet seat broken. Breakfast is only continental with lots of carbs no protein what so ever. Even hard boiled eggs would be appreciated. Quantity available is reasonable. You get what you pay for.

Breakfast was limited and was heavily aimed at those interested in CARBS.

A reasonably priced, good hotel. Front desk staff is GREAT and friendly. The condition of the hotel was good. The breakfast, though well presented, is coffee, a few juices, and pastries/waffles. There are no meat, egg, or cheese options for protein. A diabetic (me) had little available.

Overall the hotel was nice. There was a problem with the TV and every time we turned it on I had to climb on a chair and maually change the channel to 3. We could then use the cable. The breakfast wasn't very good. They were out of many things. The butter for the bagels was just a stick of butter laid out on the butter wrapper. We ended up getting coffee and going out for breakfast.

Breakfast could offer a little more

Clean and quiet. Good bed. Good array of breakfast foods. Staff cordial and efficient. Never did figure out how to manage the TV. It had to be operated from the set rather than the remote and it was beyond me. There were a lot of very tiny ants in the bathroom. Typical of budget motels, there was only one chair in a room rented to accommodate two. Not everyone wants to spend the whole evening in bed.
