We stayed two nights and the shower smelt like sewage.. The hot tub also was disappointing as it was green and when the jets came on it overflowed with foam ( also had a moldy smell). It was also moldy in between the pool area and the wall. The property was nice but these items need attending too.

The door wouldn't work correctly for 4 hours after check in and we couldclose it or risk not being able to open the door without help from the front desk. The pool was schedfor Maintenence on Monday 11/10. They closed the pool early Sunday 11/9. We specifically stayed here because of the pool and spa. This was very disappointing as the website stated ot would be open until Monday. Thrre wrre also seversl maintenance issues within our room. Fail as a hospitality issue.

The room was very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Pillows could be better too soft!!! Excellent cleaning staff. Check in was simple and easy on line. Check out was even easier. Inside swimming pool was a winner. Hot spa was very hot and relaxing!!! Over all stay was excellent!!!

The pool was disgusting. It was green and had two hair balls the size of basketballs floating around. The hot tub was green and over flowing with foam. The room was also very light in the middle of the night because the room didn't have curtains. It had shutters, but they didn't block out the lights from the lights on the hotel walk way by the rooms.

Sad to say I was expecting better than what we got. Our room’s hard wood floor was dirty, made me cringe every time I would step on it getting off the bed. The shower did not have a slip resistant mat to put inside the shower, also made me feel uncomfortable showering in bare feet. There were no extra towels at all, I thought there would also be a mat to lay outside of the shower instead of putting towels on the floor. The headboard of the bed was dirty, with greasy finger prints on it and the sink had hairs of previous stayers with a nasty smell coming from the inside cracks of the sink. I was honestly grossed out the entire stay.

After checking in we walked into a dirty room. Hair all over shower. Floors not cleaned. The place was old. Our furniture was all old and had burn marks. Toilet paper is horrible. The place is conveniently located. Did not see roaches or mice.

Office closes at 10pm, said to call or text if you would be later. I texted, they responded but then continued to call several times. Room had dirty towels on the chairs and hair on the floor. The beds were so uncomfortable and every time you move the metal bed frame makes horrible noises. They placed us in a corner by the next to the maintenance closet so we were awoken by loud voices right outside our door at 8am. When mentioned to the staff, they were rude and just blew us off.

Pros: Nothing out of the ordinary. Its a Motel. It was pretty clean overall. It was quiet during my stay. Seems like the bathroom is renovated which is nice. Microwave & Refrigerator included. Check in & out was easy & smooth. Swimming pool open for everyone. Cons: I did see a few hair strands on my bed and some on the floor. There wasnt much but i did spot it. No handsoap! Not sure if its just my room or if its all rooms. Floors not the cleaniest either. After walking around in the room barefoot, my feet did get dirty. And the last thing is parking. If the place is fully booked, parking spots will be limited. During my stay, it was fully booked. I went out and came back around 9:30pm and saw only 4-5 parking spots left. If the parking lot is full, you will have to park on the street.

It's good for money saving family with many little kids. Avoid weekdays or low rates unless you are okay with a lot of kids screaming and using pool all the time. The wall is thin and can hear others. Unfortunately it's noisy. But good thing is that I learn to not to book a good deal with a swimming pool going forward.

Parking was easy, the room was clean, the staff was nice. Our issues were with the weird check in kiosk, the room was utilitarian, the beds were too hard, the pillows too soft, and the worst part was how bright it was in the room at night because of the 3 security parking lot lights. I could see clearly in the dark all night long even with the blinds shut as tight as they could go. My recommendation, ditch the kiosk that was hard to understand, put up a picture and a colorful blanket on the bed to put some color in the small white box of a room, get a medium soft bed and firmer pillows, and some blackout curtains for that room!

The location was quiet, and within walking distance of downtown Monterey. The room was located above the pool, and there was a slight chlorine smell inside the room when first arriving, but was not noticeable returning to the room each night. The room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and it appeared most finishes in the room had been recently updated. A mini fridge/freezer and microwave in-room was very convenient. The water pressure in the shower was not great, and the inside of the door peephole was missing with the hole stuffed with tissue. Overall, my stay was comfortable and the location was convenient.

Walls and floors in room must have zero insulation as we coukd hear every conversation of the people in rooms next door and below. Mattress was extremely uncomfortable. There are no blackout curtains and very bright lights all down the hallways, illuminating the room all night long. It was like daylight throughout the night.

Easy place to find as it is one of the few hotels with a white fence out in front. Close to the mall and plenty of eating places to choose from. Also one of the few hotels that can accommodate a larger family as the suite rooms have three queen beds. You have to book quickly as the number of larger rooms are limited.

The check-in is excepted to be all electronic but i hasn't seen the email before arriving. We happened to catch someone at the counter who did assist us. The room was two separate bedrooms with one shared bath but the bathroom door configuration was very odd. It was convenient that both bedrooms had access but only one door locked from inside the bedroom so we had to work out a system to communicate when the bathroom was occupied.

Nice rooms. Parking can be hard if they are full. It would be nice if they had towel hooks in the bathroom or room. No place to hang the towels. Noise level is when you can hear everyone walking by or up and down the stairs. Overall was very nice. Nice to have coffee options and hot chocolate in the lobby. Pool and hot tub was the reason we booked. Love it!! My biggest concern was not being advised of $200 deposit until my cancellation period was over. And the deposit can take 1-2 weeks for refund. Which is odd. Never have I had to pay such a high amount for a hotel. Especially one that takes long to refund. This is probably a deal breaker for us to stay here again. Over

Rooms, bathroom, and property overall are very clean and well kept! Easy parking, and within walking distance to the Del Monte shopping mall, wharf, and various restaurants. Allen N at the front desk provided us with amazing customer service and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Definitely recommend this property to anyone coming to Monterey.

We stay at the Stargazer all the time when we're in Monterey and like the hotel very much. Booking thru expedia, we never have had a problem with getting the specific rooms and suites we prefer for the price we've paid thru the site. This time after booking the suite, there was alot of confusion with the front desk regarding the suite type and raising the price we'd already paid for that suite description our first night. Then we'd also booked the suite we ended up getting for the next night, same price for a week night wihout the set price being raised again. We were told we had to leave the suite we were in because it was already booked and were downgraded to a much smaller single room, which on the expedia site was listed as less than what we'd already paid for the suite however no credit or refund was offered or issued for this inconvenience. And we found out later the suite had not been reserved and the party that came in paid the hotel significantly more than we'd paid thru expedia. Part of this inconvenience seems to have stemmed from the front desk staff not checking messages and emails from guests. Very disappointing. Not sure who to trust to book our future stays as we would very much like to return to the Stargazer but dont want any further miscommunications between expedia and the hotel. .

We like the Stargazer very much and stay here when we come to Monterey. Close to town but not in a walkable area. Balcony was scary and overlooks a depressing scene but it was a nice surprise that you could get a peek at the ocean. Disappointed in the staff who gave a key to our room to another surprised family. The computer was blamed but I've never seen a computer accidentally check a hotel guest out. So fortunate that the guests who were given access to our room didn’t go through our belongings. Felt the hotel staff didn’t take the error very seriously.

The room was cute and the area was safe (lots of other hotels around). However, it’s not a very walkable area and we ended up driving pretty much everywhere for dinner, shopping, etc.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable employee. It was quick and easy, with no hassle. Everything was clean and well kept. There was a knick on a door, which they assured me they were already aware of, and it wouldn't affect our security deposit. I do wish they offered a breakfast of some sort, but they do have a lovely espresso machine available.

The shutters on the windows gave a nice aesthetic, feel to the room, but they let too much light. If you prefer a darker room for sleeping, bring a sleeping mask. The hot tub was lukewarm, but it’s hard to be critical because we went during the shoulder season and we got an excellent rate!! About a five minute drive from the aquarium. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

this was a wonderful place to stay. I have a service dog that I bring with me and they were very accommodating. It was easy to walk across the street to a beautiful open park for me to take her to use the restroom. It was within walking distance of the Del Monte Center, which is a high-end shopping center with beautiful surroundings and wonderful shops. It was very close to the downtown area and the beach. there was a medium size refrigerator with freezer that worked very well and a microwave. We had a little fireplace in our room. The room was very clean and the beds were so comfortable and the sheets were so soft! We didn’t make use of the pool and the spa, but many people did and it looked very nice. I liked how they had flowers all around in planter boxes and everything was so clean and neat. Also, on a sidenote, if you’re hungry, there’s a 24 hour Jack-in-the-Box at the bottom of the street, not the best food, but better than nothing. Very happy with our stay thank you very much!

The gal at check-in was very friendly. She even provided us with a few dining options as I had asked for some recommendations. Room was clean. There is onsite parking but not necessarily a guarantee that you will get a spot if you get back late in the evening. There is street parking available. Overall a good stay as we were only there for 1 night.

I liked everything about this property. There was great food options near by and walkable distance. The rooms were suuuper cool and comfy. There was a pool and tub, my son loved that! It was quiet and we had our privacy for sure. Definitely recommend this place. There wasn’t complementary breakfast, however, the price was low and reasonable.

We love the keyless entry to the room. Super roomie and big rooms. Very clean. Fully stocked. How’s the microwave refrigerator. The text to the front desk or to the hotel is awesome. They respond right away. The indoor pool and hot tub is a plus. There’s always towels ready by the pool area. Which is very helpful. They have a great coffee machine in the lobby. Love how we can just text them instead of call them for any questions and again we really love the keyless entry to the room. We did not have to check in at the lobby because we did it all online and we’re not notified when the room was ready via text. We did stay here a few years ago but this time around it’s fully renovated and definitely a 10 out of 10 would stay here again in the future.
