Holiday Inn Cleveland - South Independence by IHG

The hotel is great for events and teams. The pool is a decent size to allow for a good amount of people with space and the there is a gym with the necessities. We didn't eat at the restaurant and that is a convenience to have. There is also a small market with necessities that was great. The bad part was the front desk overcharged us for the items we purchased. Our room was average - pretty clean overall. We had to call down twice to get bedding for the pullout coach (three people in a room with one king bed should have signaled to the front desk to ask if we needed bedding). We would stay here again.

Staff very nice. Good restaurant Enjoyed the pool The room was old, lots of pealing wall areas, holding hooks out. Mattress saggy. No shuttle service even tho 3 vans parked out front. Otherwise good.

I like the ease of the check-in and check-out process. I also liked the friendliness of the staff. The pool area was a welcomed surprise for my niece.

Excellent nightclub at the hotel

Hotel lobby, pool and fitness area are all updated and modern. The same cannot be said about the rooms as they were dated and old.

My family and I had a nice stay here. It’s clean and has a nice pool/gym.

The property is severely under construction. The pool is not open. The girl at the front desk was nice. In all honesty, it should not have even been opened.

The indoor pool is worth the stay. Clean, heated water. Unfortunately, there was a sink/toilet leak in the bathroom suite and it soak some of my items on the floor.

I arrived in town early & asked if I could check in early and was met with a very rude woman. She told me no rooms were ready very rudely, she didnt take any time 1st to check what rooms might be ready, what room I had booked, or even my name, she just replied rudely to come back at 3;00. I've never had a major hotel chain not let me check in early, especially since it was well after everyone had checked out & she didnt even check to see availability. This is a strong relflection of staff who dont care. Everything sat in our hot car as I had to go somewhere until 6,30. When i returned to check in that evening the new staff were much more polite but it went downhill after. The carpets in the hallways were filthy with food & paper all over it, i thought maybe it was temporary but they never vacuumed the hallways our entire stay, and the carpet was bubbling up and coming off. The room was worse. We got a standard king; the whole room was humid and smelled. The carpet was weirdly damp, sticky and dirty. The bathroom toilet lid was stained yellow & the tub chipped. In the bedroom there was also a very obvious stain on the ceiling from a past or present water leak causing black mold. The room had a mini fridge but strangely no microwave. They had dove products which is fine, no breakfast which is usually standard but I knew that when booking, & only 1 side of the bed had a charger outlet. The bed was clean & comfotable but there were no extra pillows or sheets for the sofa bed.

Room was no where near worth it for the price. My daughter’s feet were black within 5 minutes of walking around the room. Dirt spots and what looked like a blood spot all over the floor. People fighting outside of hotel room from 2-2:45am.

This hotel was very disappointing. Common areas where the bar and restaurant are appeared to be clean, but as soon as you took and elevator to a fllor it was terrible. The carpets in hallways were wrinkled up and unsafe. The friend i was travelling with almost fell. She walks with a cane after a hortible accident and the cane kept catching where the carpet was bunched up. Mattresses so old they creaked when you moved and so worn that you rolled nearly off the bed. Curtains sagging from the rod, coffeemaker in room broken, fan in bathroom broken. Housekeeping entered the room while a do not disturb sign was on the door. Vending machines on EVERY FLOOR not in working order! (I tried 2 machines on all 5 floors. Absolutely horrible experience. I dont recommend this hotel to anyone. Paid way too much money

Room was pretty dirty, there was black mold growing in the bath tub. Beds were uncomfortable and felt like they were going to fall apart.

Don’t let the convention center and lobby fool you! The room section of this roach motel in a satin dress is absolutely disgusting and out of date. The price I paid for a room of this condition smelling like weed and cat urine with hallway carpets literally bulging to the point of a tripping hazard was an absolute rip off. I do not have high standards and if the price was half what I paid I might have been ok with it but this was a scam! And don’t even get me started on the $150 incidental hold that didn’t drop off for nearly a full week after I left or the $18 dollars for breakfast that was worst quality than the cheapest continental you’ll ever have.

Dirty, musty, and a/c squealed all night long.

Overall a typical holiday inn Two issues: 1 Cleanliness was barely acceptable Nothing looked truly clean 2 The bathroom Faucet did not reach the sink - thus creating a flood every time you turned it on

Nice facility. Clean but dated.

My room was a little dusty. They did not pick up items and dust under it, but overall the room was clean.

For the price we paid through you, we were extremely disappointed . Though fridge and microwave were advertised, there was no microwave and even though we requested one twice we never received one. Also,comfortable and adequate seating with a table to place things on was sorely lacking here. Not happy!

Woke up extra early from hearing the alarm on someone’s phone in the room next to mine. Could hear them brush their teeth and take a shower. Super thin walls and or door between rooms was hardly soundproof. Hotel was decent. Outdated a bit.

Room smelled musty. Ac barely worked.

The room looked nothing like the photos I was shown online. The room I stayed in had a crack in the ceiling in the bathroom and the shower curtain had seen better days. I was also scared the toilet wasn’t going to suck the contents away. The second floor hallway had a strange ripple in the carpet the whole way down both hallways. The pool room was cold! The bed was super comfy though, and the staff were very polite and welcoming. Overall it was an ok stay. For the price I paid, I don’t think I will be back unfortunately.

Our room was dark.

the bed linens were clean, bed very comfortable, concern about the hygiene of feather pillows. the pull out sofa bed bowed in the middle. UNUSABLE - no linens for it, told we couldn't get any - housekeeping gone. Then someone showed up with them. There was no microwave in the room !! bathroom was too small. The dove products were nice. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

Staff was very accommodating! Air conditioning not working, nor entry light into room. Motorized shades not working, no light for 4 days. Benches were placed outside full of smokers. Not a good look upon arrival.

Coming from a Marriott stay to this one was not pleasing. They charged way more, nickel and dimed you for everything (more money for two beds vs a king), more money for "pool view", and they put a $150 hold on your card at check in stating it would come off at check out unless needed for incidentals. That was not listed on the Expedia site when booked that I saw. There are many hotels in that area, I would choose another next time. It was clean but the bathroom was cramped and the carpets are bubbling up in the middle of the hallways. I did not hear much noise in surrounding rooms. The pool was clean and clear.

Shelle was so friendly and accommodating. I had a noisy neighbor and she upgraded me to a suite with a free breakfast coupon for the inconvenience.

Went to the lounge in the evening. Female bartenders neglected to wait on us. Long periods between drinks and served everyone around us. Very disappointing. The staff at the front desk could not have been better. Efficient. Friendly. Top notch!

There were no curtains on the windows, so the morning light streamed into the room each morning. I received a card at check-in called "The IHG Daily Room Refresh" which is supposed to include a daily room refresh. A buddy and I stayed in two different rooms for the three days we were in Cleveland and neither of us had our rooms refreshed once in those three days. Aside from these observations, the hotel is conveniently located and the front desk staff was very efficient.

The front desk was friendly. $150 security hold is high especially with nothing open on property. They are doing renovations but aren’t maintaining the rooms and halls. Carpet was disgusting everywhere. Ceiling in my shower had mold. Wall thermostat doesn’t work. TV had descriptive captions on and they wouldn’t come off, even when I turned them off manually. Internet was good, location is nice. The hotel was quiet from the outside noise. Bed was worn but sheets did look clean. Overall won’t be back but may be better when they finish updates.

At check in staff was indifferent towards me and other customers. Obviously not excited about being there.

only stayed one night but had a great experience! we were greeted with such a sweet lady when we checked in!

Shell checked us in and she was by herself. It was extremely busy that weekend and she kept her cool and was very helpful

Awful customer service from Heidi the manager . Was told a different amount for an incidentals charge . Manager Heidi pretty much said that I was given we on info from hotel and either pay the fee or cancel my room . And was treated poorly even after I paid it because I had no other choice . Will not stay at this location again .

This was a work trip. Company I work for picks up trash and litter off of the interstates and highway’s all over Ohio, which includes Cleveland. This location was perfect!

We had a great stay. There was so much that the hotel offered between food, the coffee bar etc. Our room was perfectly clean. We would definitely stay here again.

You call yourself a Buffay style that was not Buffay style. I thought it was a free practice thing and then end up paying nine dollars. If you want to do Buffay style you should’ve had pancakes, waffles and some other stuff you didn’t even have anything else but eggs, yogurt and that that’s not what they call a Buffay style

Carpet in the hallways is puckered and you have to pay attention while walking or risk a stumble. Bathtub in room was…just old looks like an old remodel. Otherwise the stay was good…great lobby and staff…great pillows. They could offer guests a coffee to go in the lobby but hey…Holiday Inn cannot seem to get what Holiday Inn express gets. It a cup of coffee…to wait and to pay for it in the restaurant is an insult.every other chain I stay at give guests a coffee in the lobby.

The food was not that good for breakfast and dinner. Went to other places in the area to eat.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The first issue I encountered was the placement of the smoking area right by the entrance, forcing guests to walk through a cloud of smoke upon entering or exiting the hotel. This not only created discomfort but also raised concerns about secondhand smoke exposure.Upon entering the lobby area, I was disappointed to find that the snack area had nothing to offer. It appeared as though the coffee bar had permanently closed, leaving the space barren and uninviting. This lack of amenities in a common area of the hotel was disappointing and unexpected. Moving on to the accommodations, the second-floor hallway carpet was noticeably bunched up in the middle, posing a tripping hazard to guests. This safety concern should have been addressed promptly to ensure the well-being of guests. Entering my room, I was further disappointed to find several cleanliness issues. The bathroom floor was sticky, indicating a lack of thorough cleaning. Additionally, the wallpaper between the bed and the bathroom was bubbling, suggesting poor maintenance and upkeep.Another inconvenience was the lack of outlets next to the bed to plug in chargers. I had to move the end table to search for an outlet, only to discover that the area behind it appeared as though it had not been vacuumed in months. This lack of attention to detail and cleanliness was unacceptable.

We booked this hotel so our daughter could visit her new college. An indoor pool was what made our initial decision. We will definitely be staying here every time we come to visit her. The staff is incredible, the rooms are comfortable and clean. The bathrooms are nice. Whatever we needed they accommodated us with a smile... Straight down to switching rooms because we underestimated our family size. (Both rooms were comfortable and clean) The Sunday brunch is SO GOOD! The dinner restaurant/lounge/ bar is beautiful and they have awesome chicken wings! The pool is very big with a perfect water temperature. Overall we are incredibly happy with our stay and, as I said, we will be staying here every time we come to visit.
