The property itself was beyond breathtaking, the ocean view is out of this world!! The staff does a phenomenal job taking care of the property and facilities! The only downside was the casino, especially the blackjack table, I witnessed the dealers cheaters, and dealing cards from behind the front card in the shoe. Then if you win, they ring a bell for you to go to this “special table “ to win the jackpot, stay away from blackjack and stay away from the other special table, it’s a scam, I lost over $1,000 in less than 30 minutes. Other than that, the experience was exceptional.

The resort has gone down since I last visited in 2019. The sports bar was shut down, the pizza place was closed, the game room was shut down. The night club felt like an oven and smelled. This was my 6 time there but i will be searching for a different resort next year

The pool area and beach were very nice. Towels ran out quickly and were not replenished. Food was very poor quality. Fitness center only had one working treadmill. Sliding glass door in room didn’t slide easily. This was reported to concierge and they sent someone. First time the person came when we were not in the room. Second time the person came when my son was in the bathroom. When we checked in, we were not provided room keys, only towel keys. Property needs a lot of updates.

The hotel is nice but needs an urgent upgrade in its rooms. The suite I got the air conditioner didn't work from day one. I went to the service counter to report it every day I was there, and it wasn't until the night before my departure that they changed my room. The cleanliness of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired, you have to be calling to ask for towels and the water did not go down and it remains stagnant on the shower floor. The casino is a disaster, they only have about 10 very old slots and of them only 6 worked. After 9:30pm there was no activity in the lobby except for the daily shows and after that it was going to sleep because there was nothing to do. Employees are what make your stay better. I give it 2 out of 5 stars. Its sad because the place is beautiful.

I was transferred three times due to maintenance issues, roaches, dirty rooms, The snack bar salad had live roaches walking around, I notified the chef at the kitchen and he checked but took care of the problem without replacing the salad station food, in order to flush the toilet I had to do it manually putting the flaper down each time and fill at times with water.

I had a terrible experience. My bathroom flooded 3 times, I went to take a shower and as I walked into the bathroom i stepped into a puddle of toilet water they came to "fix the toilet" and it happened again and again, the third time they came to "fix it" they had to unhook the toilet, and they sat it in the shower come to find out a vape was stuck in the toilet. even after they did that it continued to flood. I requested s new room and didn't get it, I feel like I should be compensated I was not satisfied at all during my stay here. I have videos and pictures of everything and the night before I left, I woke up around 2am to use the restroom and it was flooded Maintenace came to "fix it" but told me I had to wait because it was a plumbing issue. The issue was never resolved from the first incident the only thing they did was had housekeeping come mop up the water. Terrible experience. None of my needs were met.

The rooms were disgustingly dirty the beds had bugs the sheets were filthy with stains. Blood stains on the pillow cases . I wanted to cry… it’s sad because the staff were amazing. My room was changed three times and I still had issues. The floors were so slippery I fell and twisted my ankle.

My room was full of hairs, especially the bathroom! I even paid money for the cleaning lady to clean it up and she just mapped very quickly and superficially, didn’t change the bedsheets (also with hairs on it), because she told me she didn’t have any at the moment (even though she was cleaning the rooms). She left the room basically the same way. No wonder it was dirty, if they clean this way

The property looked great from the outside. We had ants in our room every day and had to call multiple times. I had to call housekeeping every day in order to clean towels every day. Our keys deactivated every day. The staff was very rude. When we asked for service, it was an inconvenience for them to have to do their job. There were about five members of the staff that were an absolute delight including Ana at the bar, our concierge Luz, and David.

The food of the buffet was really bad and they didn’t have variety. We tried to eat on the restaurant and they said it was full for the following 3 days, we could even try the food from the restaurant. And also the rooms are in very bad conditions, the baths were dirty and the towels were stained with something red.

If you are looking for a hotel where you are kept up all hours of the night due to constant loud noise in the hallways, then this is your place…..If you are looking for extremely poor quality of food that will leave you with stomach issues the entirety of your stay, then this is your place….If you enjoy listening to room cleaning staff yelling at each other beginning early in the morning and continuing throughout the day, then this is your place…If you enjoy making request for water or sodas to your room and never having them delivered, then this is your place… To be fair, the pool area is great, located right on the beach, beautiful views….this is an all inclusive resort…it is a distance to go anywhere outside of the resort…the resort has been neglected for what looks like years on upkeep of the rooms….Staff is extremely friendly….the outside grounds are well kept….You will not be able to get any rest while here…We stayed 8 days and the noise in the halls is constant and loud…the pool does close by 7:00 pm if you have a room facing the pool but noisy from that area all night…all inclusive includes unlimited alcoholic drinks but good luck with that….the lowest and cheapest liquor that you will ever experience….drinks left an aftertaste that resembled drinking gasoline…If after reading this review and you still choose this resort, then good luck to you…

Overall we had a good time, but some minor details would have made it excellent.. AC in rooms never go down more than 74⁰F (24⁰C)and the humidity inside the room was awful, so sleeping wasn't comfortable. The Japanese restaurant food was delicious but NO AC so it was like a sauna in there. We only went to 3 different restaurants, we couldn't find reservations to the others. In the Italian restaurant while there starting raining and ther were literally hole on the roof allowing water in directly tonl our food. On the weekend, buffet lines got impossible to to lack of organization. But food was decent and a lot of options.

We recently stayed at Occidental Caribe to celebrate my mom’s 50th birthday, and I cannot say enough good things. This was our second visit—we first came 6 years ago for my brother’s graduation and had such a great time, we knew we had to return. We were a group of 16, from a 1-year-old to grandparents, and the staff went above and beyond from the moment we arrived. Juan and Jose helped us settle in, responded instantly to any request, and checked on us daily. For my mom’s birthday, they surprised her with champagne at the pool, decorated the hibachi restaurant, brought out a cake, and even gifted her a massage. They truly made her day unforgettable. We also had a gluten-free guest, and they ensured all restaurants accommodated her needs. Huge thanks to Maria Montes and Nilson Herrera in the buffet hall—Nilson even remembered us from 6 years ago! They greeted us daily with smiles and hugs, saved space for our big group every morning, and treated our kids like their own. Occidental Caribe made us feel like family. We highly recommend this resort and can’t wait to come back!

Check in took over and hour. We suppose to have a personal butler service with Expedia to guide us and help us make dinner reservations for the restaurants, which they did not. We only had to eat the buffet food with was tasteless. Fry chicken was always dry and hard. The food was terrible overall. The rooms was ok, room service didn’t clean everyday. They would hang a do not disturb sign on your door so they don’t have to clean it. Which I did not hang. I wanted my rooms cleaned everyday. Had to beg for clean towels. They do not replenish the mini fridge in room. Bathroom was run down with molds, shower was broken. French an Italian restaurants was always closed so always had to eat buffet food. Our round trip transportation WB company did not come back to drop us off at the airport, Junior from WB rudely told us to take a taxi. So we ended up having to pay for a taxi when we had already paid WB transport for round trip. Overall we hated this trip to DR. Will not recommend this hotel nor WB shuttle service.

We had an amazing stay here and would highly recommend! We were celebrating our honeymoon and they went above and beyond starting with a room upgrade as soon as we arrived. Don’t believe all the negative reviews, it is all based on your preferences and everyone has different experiences. We are hoping to return next year with our kids! The staff were amazing and so friendly! We received a butler for booking through Expedia and she exceeded our expectations! Everything was phenomenal and we can’t wait to visit again!

They have bad service and we had to wait two hours to do check in, in a huge line, were there’s not air conditioning or any fan. And then they said that they didn’t have any reservations available for the restaurants, but when we went to the restaurant the tables were half empty, and they didn’t let us in. Also, when we called to the front desk to ask for extra towels, because we were 4 people and they only gave us two. They brought it the next day. This resort is a mess.

The location was nice, the pool, beach and the grounds were nice. The food was nothing special/just ok.The biggest disappointment was the staff. They just all seemed annoyed that we were asking for service and appeared generally unhappy with being there. There were one or two that smiled a little and they were actually attentive but those were the exception. I did read the reviews prior to staying that reminded that you get what you pay for and I'm not mentioning any other issues because that is totally true. But even staying in mid scale or economy locations, you typically have staff that at least does their best to provide good service and to act welcoming and pleasant.

Gostamos bastante da nossa hospedagem, nossas férias foram incríveis! Occidental Caribe é lindo e a praia é perfeita, com águas cristalinas. O quarto é confortável e grande, pegamos de frente para o mar e a vista é sensacional! Café da manhã e restaurantes reservados são muito bons. Wonderful vacation. Beach is perfect pools are great. Bathrooms could use updating but room was perfect for 2 friends. Buffet needs help was not a fan very little flavor but you can survive. restaurants are amazing we went to 4. Staff is great but I only spoke English so that can be a challenge. Had an amazing relaxing massage at spa. Hotel booked the best horseback trip. Because I’m an Expedia platinum member we had the best concierge Juan Carlos. He was fantastic. He helped us every day and made our very affordable vacation feel 5 star. He spoiled us and took care of our every need. Would definitely go back.

Stay away from the buffet. Got food poising for 2 days. Restaurants were great and better quality so make sure you make reservations. The buffet food quality is really low. Hot tub was nothing but a pool of bubbles, not a real hot tub. Other than that great location. Nice pool and views. Drinks are good. Service staff could put on a smile and the front desk needs more staff. Lines were always too long anytime you needed anything and had only 2 or 3 people working the front desk with 30 plus people in line.

Occidental Caribe is a beautiful resort with a lot of activities. The staff are nice, though they had difficulties understanding English, they did their best to serve us. The food was good with a lot of international options that changed every day. The snack bar was awesome, and the fresh fruits were the best. This place will be even better if they renovate the rooms, as they are old and don't look clean, though the staff cleaned them every day. I still recommend this resort, which is best for families. Bonus: we had Juan Carlo, who was just a message away and very helpful with everything.

The grounds of this hotel are gorgeous and beautiful. Very well kept and maintained. Tons of chairs at the beach and pool area. The pools were very nice and the beach wasn’t a far walk from the pools. However, the restaurant policy was not good. This is in part because upon arrival, we went to make reservations for the restaurants and were told that being we were there for 6 days we were only allowed 2 restaurant reservations, which is NOT stated on their website or on Orbitz. They wanted us to eat the buffet every night. If we had known this, we wouldn’t have booked this place just on that principle alone. Also, to get a reservation you needed to wake up at 7am and then guest services said all restaurants were booked anyway and were put on a waiting list and needed to check back at 2pm, 3pm and 6pm to see if there were any “cancellations”. This was our vacation, we shouldn’t have had to wake up at 7am every day to see if we could eat in a restaurant and then check back 2-3 times a day. Every single day. This policy was idiotic and all staff said this was the occidental caribe’s policy, but I never found this policy on the website and they couldn’t provide it in written form. So, if you don’t mind eating buffet every night then this hotel was for you.
