The hotel is wonderful from start to finish. The building was an old printing press business and the renovation is very well done. The rooms have high ceilings, big windows and a marble coffee bar space. The bathroom is well laid out with beautiful map wallpaper. I found everyone who worked there extremely pleasant-from the late night front desk manager to the day manager to the lovely woman who helped at breakfast. Bonus is the beautiful rooftop bar.

Very nice boutique hotel in a great location. A little away from the hustle and bustle to be away from the noise but close enough for a quick easy walk. Staff were excellent and room was amazing. Rooftop terrace was a really nice bonus! Would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The room was large and nicely decorated. The hotel had a rooftop garden that was a great place to relax after a long day out seeing the sights of this beautiful city. The staff were friendly and helpful and the parking was very convenient. We would definitely stay here again!

Very unique property that was obviously a waterfront warehouse. Structural supports are exposed, massive wooden beams and ceiling heights are 18-29 feet. Rooms are well appointed appointed and very comfortable. Nice little lobby bar and a wonderful rooftop deck.

Hotel did not offer valet, which is surprising for Charleston and price, but parking is very close. Rooms recently renovated (~5 mos) and gorgeous(!), however walls are very thin…I could hear the TV playing in the room next to me. Staff was super friendly and helpful. No restaurant on property and very small (6 person) bar which closed early and no options for room service. Slightly off the beaten path but still very walkable. Overall lovely property, just does not offer what I would expect for price point.

The hotel itself is lovely. It's in an old paper warehouse and they did a wonderful job of making comfortable rooms while retaining the original architecture. My complaint is with how they do breakfast. They have an app in which you can order a few items which they leave in a bag on the counter. It's like they are still operating under covid protocols. They have coffee, but if breakfast is important to you, plan on finding a local restaurant. Parking is easy across the street in their private lot for about 30 dollars a day. Street parking in this part of town is near impossible.

The lobby and public areas are dusty from the work as the whole 2nd floor is under repair. You can't stay at the hotel from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm due to extreme construction noise.

Old warehouse in historic district converted into hotel. Excellent blend of modern and historic style. Truly different and unique from the corporate chains. Intimate setting with unique special feel. One of the cleanest and best maintained hotels I have ever been in. Totally recommend; would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay in Charleston at the Ansonborough. The check-in process was quick and the staff were pleasant. Our room was clean, spacious and we loved the decor as well as the architecture at this boutique hotel. The parking is very conveniently located across the street and there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Front desk staff were professional and polite. As others have said before, cleanliness was an issue. The room looked tidy upon entering but closer inspection it showed dust and dirt around the corners, nightstands, bed and inside the closet, in general the carpet was very dusty. My husband and I were sneezing and stuffed up all night. I requested a vacuum the next and the lady that brought it to my door was very rude. She was accompanied by a young employee and when I thanked her, she turned around and told the young lady: “make sure you do it right so this doesn’t happen again” while pointing at me. She walked away without a word. I was dumbfounded and felt bad for the young employee. The manager had offered to send someone to do a thorough cleaning but I declined as I had already cleaned myself. Look at the photos. There’s a grocery store across the hotel which is conveniently located near restaurants and shopping but it’s still quiet at night. Rooms and restrooms are large and have a mini fridge, no microwave. Mattress is not very supportive and sinks a bit. The low rating is due to lack of cleanliness. Look at the photos, that dirt came all from flat surfaces like night stands, headboard, light switches and table.

The building was beautiful inside. I loved all the exposed beams and brick. At the time we stayed, the building was being renovated. They promised construction would only occur from 8:30am to 5:30pm but continued until at least 9pm. The rooms were nice but very well used to the point of being unusable. I was also disappointed in the amount of dust on the light fixtures and in other places. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel but felt like it needed some TLC.

If you book through Expedia you will get a room that is on the main floor which is against a very busy road. We used TWO noise makers to try and sleep through the night. Also the plantation shutters don't go all the way up so the room was completely light at 7 am. After complaining to the front desk they moved me to a great, quiet room at a additional fee of $20/night. DON'T BOOK ON EXPEDIA

Loved the aesthetics of this hotel. Warm, unique & wonderful. From the front desk staff to bartender & other staff super friendly group. Our room was awesome, huge with everything we needed, work space, table & chairs, couch, large closet, great bed and beautiful bathroom with great products. Would highly recommend this hotel for travels to Charleston.

The Ansonborough is a beautiful hotel with great staff and service. Our room on the first floor was very large with what looked like a 16-foot ceiling. The style is like warehouse-modern. Unlike some other customers, we really enjoyed ordering breakfast (complimentary and paid-for items) through their web-based "scan QR code" site. Now, after having read another review about a "sewage" smell before we went, I can now confirm that there is a slight sewage smell in our first floor room. However, this is not the fault of the hotel but, rather, an issue with some sewer sidewalk caps outside on Hasell street. Perhaps Charleston dept of public works can fix that. Also, some thin walls. I strongly dislike hearing people right outside on the sidewalk chatting for an hour at 11pm as well as hearing a neighboring room playing loud music albeit prior to 9pm. Other than that, great hotel. Get a room on 2nd floor or higher.

The Aronson is in a great location, which is probably its best features. We stayed in a “king studio” room. The room was oddly configured, and laid out, with a single window up high, which gave it a dungeon- like feel. It faced the rooftop HVAC equipment, which made for a very noisy night. Consequently, we did not get a good night’s sleep. The breakfast room and delivery method is unusual at best. We weren’t the only people confused by how it worked. It was strange to be given your breakfast in a box, as though they don’t want you to stay there to eat it.

Loved the big rooms/tall ceilings and the location. We did have a leak from the ceiling that got all over our things. Hotel did give us a new room quickly but did not help move our things nor did they compensate for any of the damages to our items or inconvenience of moving.

This was a beautiful property and very convenient to walk around. Unfortunately we did have problems with our stay because we were charged $900 deposit on top of the $100. When I approached the front desk the lady let me know it was a mistake the hotel had made. I asked to speak to the manager and the assistant manager let me know he was not available the assistant manager was not helpful and said there was nothing the hotel could do and told me to call the bank. I called my bank and they told me the hotel was withholding my money. I told the assistant manager that I did not authorize the hotel to withhold more money then I had already paid. The hotel was paid fully before my trip. I asked for the managers email since he was out of office and I emailed him and he told me unfortunately there’s nothing they can do but that they apologize. This was devastating to here that they could not give me back the money that was mine nor provide an explanation on why they withdrew money from my account without my authorization. The service was not great with the managers as they did not provide any aid for the harm they had caused. I think this is something everyone should consider before booking.

I called my bank and they told me the hotel was withholding my money. I told the assistant manager that I did not authorize the hotel to withhold more money then I had already paid. The hotel was paid fully before my trip. I asked for the managers email since he was out of office and I emailed him and he told me unfortunately there’s nothing they can do but that they apologize. This was devastating to here that they could not give me back the money that was mine nor provide an explanation on why they withdrew money from my account without my authorization. The service was not great with the managers as they did not provide any aid for the harm they had caused. I think this is something everyone should consider before booking.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and very well located right in the heart of Charleston. Our check in experience was extremely disappointing. The gentleman on reception was very abrupt and hostile. Definitively not what you would expect from someone working in hospitality. He was not very forthcoming with information and even when we asked questions, he was very reluctant to answer and even rolled his eyes.

Everything about the hotel was great. Comfortable, clean, great location, within walking distance to the historic district and plenty of restaurants and bars. The only issue we had was regarding our check in. We arrived early, around noon, and were told that our room wasn't ready. We then went to lunch and toured the city. When we came back around 2:00 our room still wasn't ready. However, 5 different people came in while we were waiting and were able to get into their rooms early. I'm not sure what the room cleaning policy is but I would think the front desk attendant would have made an effort to get our room ready. If that was done we would have given the hotel 5 stars.

I highly recommend The Ansonborough! I loved the decor of the renovated c1900 building. The rooms were unique in design and beautiful. They had a small bar in the lobby with a cool vibe. The staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations of things to do. One employee even took the time to let me know I had a flat tire on my rental car! This was amazing as I wouldn't have known it until I left to go to the airport, and that would have been stressful! On this note, super easy parking on site. Don't hesitate to book this lovely hotel, super convenient to explore Charleston by foot.

I can't say enough positive things about this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and receptive to questions, while also being respectful that we also wanted to unpack upon arrival. The hotel is very stylish with nods to the local Charleston culture, unlike the generic hotels in the area, i.e. Courtyard, etc. We really appreciated the location which was close enough to the areas of interest while being quiet enough to relax

Enjoyed a wonderful stay in Charleston at the Ansonborough. The check-in process was quick and the staff were pleasant. Our room was clean, spacious and we loved the decor as well as the architecture at this boutique hotel. The parking is very conveniently located across the street and there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

What a lovely hotel in a great location! Staff was welcoming and helpful. Our room was beautiful and if I had any issue at all it would have been it was right next to Bay Street side so people walking by and traffic could be heard. It was not too bad however and our stay was excellent!

While it had a nice room and is conveniently located it doesn’t feel like a high end hotel because there is no life or energy in the lobby, bar, or sitting areas. Felt like a high end rooming house. The QR code to order continental breakfast is an unnecessary barrier and it arrives in a brown bag and was terrible. Soggy plastic wrapped danish an OJ and ice cold unripe melon. We could have done better at 7-11. They have a coffee area that could easily handle a normal continental breakfast spread where folks help themselves. Their penny wise pound foolishness will be their undoing.

The ansonborough is a charming and welcoming place with a character that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Staff is super and conveniently located to bistros and Charleston happenings. Complimentary continental breakfast in a box was disappointing. An on site continental breakfast with pastries cereal and fruit options a better way to go. a nice hotel, but the breakfast was quite disappointing..a paper box with a sugary muffin, a sour fruit cup, and a tiny cup of orange juice. not thoughtful or satisfying. To make matters worse, getting this breakfast required scanning a QR code, visiting a third party website, and entering my personal information just to make a reservation. Honestly, it might have been better not to offer anything at all. No one would expect to go through this much trouble just to get such a mediocre breakfast — especially while staying at a high-end hotel.

The hotel itself is lovely. It's in an old paper warehouse and they did a wonderful job of making comfortable rooms while retaining the original architecture. My complaint is with how they do breakfast. They have an app in which you can order a few items which they leave in a bag on the counter. It's like they are still operating under covid protocols. They have coffee, but if breakfast is important to you, plan on finding a local restaurant. Parking is easy across the street in their private lot for about 30 dollars a day. Street parking in this part of town is near impossible.

I really enjoyed my stay overall at the Ansonborough!! From my first interaction with staff until checkout everything was great!! I enjoyed that it was close to nearby attractions but not crowded and was very calm and peaceful for a midweek stay. There was a welcome cocktail and beautiful rooftop that I used to read and relax. The only thing that was disappointing was that online a wine reception was advertised but I learned that they no longer did that but it did not ruin my stay at all as it was plenty of places nearby for happy hour and ect. The room was lovely with so much charm that a chain hotel cannot provide. I will definitely stay again on a Charleston trip.
