This was a nice little place to stay. If I had any complaints it would be: there is no pool, there is no breakfast, the blankets were very small/light and they limited front office hours. But the room we rented had a kitchen which was nice for feeding the kids. The room was clean, amenities in the room were great, beds weren’t too bad, and the location was great. There was a Dennys down the street, and a couple restaurants within walking distance, just know if you’re going to be in the area, you just need a place to sleep, because you’re going to be out and about all day - this place was affordable and nice. I’d probably book it again.

What I did like is the accessibility to the aquarium and the wharf. I think the property grounds needs to be upgraded. There is a hot tub but it was out of order.

It's good that allows pets and doesn't charge for the first one but it would help if they would establish a pet area so owners would know where to take their dogs to do their business and maybe have poop bags available

The rooms were fine, and the staff seemed polite, though our interaction was limited. There did not seem to be any real issue with safety, and the overall location was good; you could get to downtown Monterey in 10 minutes or less. The grounds of the hotel need attention. The parking lot hasn't been resurfaced in ages, so it is uneven and has potholes - not really an issue of concern. Evidently, $110 to $140ish per night, these days, gets you a room with a musty smell from their cleaner of choice, a bit of extra noise, and the smell of pot wafting through the window at every hour. We got what we paid for, so the question might be whether we would stay here again. In hindsight, I would have been happier to pay $50 to $100 more per night to go elsewhere because it was a family stay.

The hotel outside was nothing like the pictures jacuzzi was broken and property in general was pretty run down Rooms were clean but they did not look at all like the pictures , however staff was great and despite how old the rooms were the cleaning was superb , they really were on top of it , another note is that there is no green areas for potty for pups and since they are dog friendly this was a bit inconvenient when we tried to take our service animal for potty breaks. Overall it was an ok stay but not great

Overall, this motel met my needs quite well. I stayed in the handicap accessible room with my service dog. Room appeared very clean and well-maintained. My biggest surprise was how comfortable the beds were. I was not expecting that, considering the price point. It was also very quiet and there was plenty of parking. Room had appliances that all worked well. I would highly recommend this place for anyone not needing an abundance of amenities. Only complaint was the lack of pet relief locations. There was a dirt section but would not an actual designated pet spot and not maintained. Otherwise, it was well-priced, clean, safe, and I'll be staying here again when traveling on a budget.

The exterior could use some upgrading but the rooms are well renovated, clean and very spacious. Very accommodating for pets, which is why I look to stay at Red Roof Inn locations, though the location could use more exterior space for their “relief”. Staff are friendly, available and accommodating. Daily housekeeping and well kept spaces.

Stayed two nights while visiting Monterey. The room had a terrible smell which never improved even with windows open or air running. The seal of the door to the outside was poor, allowing ants to come in. There was also a kitchenette in our room which had exposed wires coming down from behind the stove. The floor of our room was laminate and was definitely not swept or mopped before our arrival. Overall, not the worst stay but would not recommend.

Right when we got to our room we found bedbug on top of the comforter. Scooped it into a paper cup and took it to the front office. Got a refund on our room and checked out right away. Nasty!!!!

Our experience at this hotel was very disappointing. The condition of the room we stayed in was very unhygienic. On the morning of check out while packing our luggage, we discovered an ant infestation in the room with ants crawling on the floor, tables, and over our belongings. We even noticed a few on our beds. This is appalling and a serious concern about the hygiene and cleanliness of the room. We left early and immediately reported the issue to the front desk. The staff told me they would inform the manager and that we would receive a call back soon. However, we never received any resolutive follow-up or response from Red Roof. They took no action to address the hygiene issue or my complaint. I am very disappointed with the irresponsible service along with the initial room condition.

The hotel was very dirty. There were ashes and cigarette butts all over the property. The room was also dirty. Several towels were stained and the sheets were also stained. I would not recommend stay here.

The restroom setup was bad. The toilet in the room i stayed in was in a corner were it was very uncomfortable to use. Also, the shower was very small. You cant really move around in the shower.

The water pipes in the bathroom are very noisy when flushed. The residents in Room 107 have been disturbing everyone by flushing the toilet every 5 or 10 minutes throughout the night, making it difficult for others to sleep. It's extremely disruptive.

It was a suite with a kitchen, the paint on the cabinets is worn. The shower dripped and got the floor wet. The Wi-Fi was spotty. Worked good then would randomly disconnect. The suites are further from the office and maybe why the Wi-Fi was spotty.

Our room just needed a little TLC the mini blinds were broken, heater was not working as the night was colder. The beds are comfortable the room is spacious & very tidy, professional staff. We didn’t have any real concerns the room met our needs. Thank you red roof for having us.

This was a great hotel for the area. We were a family of 4 plus a furbaby. 3 queen beds and a futon 2 full baths one of which had a jetted tub. Full kitchen stove and all. Plenty of room for us and about 2 miles from the pier. No charge for our pup either . Clean and safe. Would stay there again .

The staff was super knowledgeable about the area and places to go locally for dinner and drinks. Recommendations were excellent. Super nice and smooth check-in process. It was a little sketch out first about the area, but felt safe within the hotel and rooms were nice and comfy. The only thing that I didn’t like was that the hallway doors were open all night so anyone from the outside could come in without a key card. Other than that well worth the price and would definitely come back!

When you first drive up it is in a not family friendly neighborhood. There is a adult-shop across the street. It is very industrial. When you pull into hotel it is very old and run down. This is an affordable hotel for visiting Monterey. The airport was not that noisy, which I had been afraid of. The area is nice and felt very safe. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel that goes to the aquarium. I would recommend this for a quick inexpensive, pet friendly stay!

Pictures showed it as good area and everything but its like more of a motel in the neighborhood.. staff were amazing but the condition of the property is not that great. We got the suite so we were happy about the space.. decently cleaned.. jacuzzi after it was on for 10 mins we smelled burn so we turned it off and faucet was dripping all night.. we didn't inform staff till we were leaving since we didn’t stay much there and were out exploring the city Said breakfast included but we didn’t get any information in that regards or where it was It felt over priced for the stay

A very cute and convenient place to stay. Loved having the little kitchen so we could cook our own breakfast and have our own snacks for our kids. I appreciate the service they provided. Would stay here again if we ever pass thru. Its also very convenient to everything near by grocery store, shopping, etc.

Loved the breakfast recommendation given to me by the front desk when I asked. I wasn’t a fan of our neighbors that had dogs who were quite loud and whiny. Parking was tight but manageable
