I liked the price, what I didn't like was the ice machine want working, but not a big deal.

Good price for monterey although I think Discovery Inn much cleaner and better; nice front desk but they don't clean much of your room even though stay there for 5 days; the room is small and there is no bathroom table space, the soap is like motel 6 quality and overall room is cramped; neighbors are noisy; the heater is good, the ice machine not fully work, the water pressure and hot water is good; for the price if looking for a decent place just to sleep then I would recommend; there is no wow factor, the towels are dingy and some look like rags; fridge is mid sized but missing some things, but it works. overall, if just to sleep there and be out all day playing, would recommend it, but if looking for wow factor and comfort, maybe try discovery inn; if this is the cheapest inn next time I visit, I would stay again because I'm simple and I only stay there to sleep which this serves its function.

Hotel was clean, freshly painted, minimal amenities, ice machine broken

I had trouble with the ice machine. The front desk clerk said I had to keep pressing the button to make it work. On further review, the machine wasn't even plugged in. The water pressure was lacking,and the shower head was so corroded that it couldn't even turn to the spray selection. Even tough it was a no smoking room, I had burn holes in my blanket.The freezer in the refrigerator does not work. I had a whole bag of ice that melted.There was a person who was knocking on all the doors that seemed to be tweeking.

Great place! Very clean. Easy parking and access to my room. Rooms a bit small but quaint and clean. Only downside is the ice machine wasnt working.

Was in town for a golf tournament, didn’t want to waste $$ on a fancy room. Fireplace confirmed why they’re a 2 star. Had to wait 20 minutes for someone to check me in. No one was there at check out. Fridge didn’t work, ice machine broken. Tiled floor was dirty, mattress hard and uncomfortable. $250 for a Sat night, $60 Sun and Mon night. You get what you pay for.

The room was very clean. I think there was not enough parking spaces for the amount of rooms? If you come in late, you won’t have a parking space?

Front staff was very friendly, rooms were clean, small parking lot but enough space for everyone who was staying when we went.

Clean, comfortable bed. Take your own tissues and don’t expect ice.

The bed sheet had dried blood stain. Got a new sheet from person on duty. Then I found the toilet seat was unclean, pretty gross. Everything else is ok but just please could you clean your sheets and toilet seats…..

Walked into the room, there was literally a piece of tissue stuck into the peep hole that was DIRTY. There holes in the wall, chipped paint, the floor was dirty, the towels had stains on them. The toilet paper wasn’t in the holder bc the toilet paper holder was broken. And lastly, the smoke detector was taken out of the wall and hidden in the bathroom drawer.

The room was super clean and the staff were super amazing. For the time being at Monterey car week it was nice because it was quite and away from the madness.

I was given a room that had not been clean, the floors were dirty and there was only one pillow on the bed. The bed sheets were full of dirty and there were bottle caps and empty bottles on the side of the bed, so I requested to change rooms and they did. The room was similar and my bed sheets had large pieces of old food and had a smell. I decided to check out and requested a refund but the front desk the owner was not there. I have been trying to get in contact with owner but have not been successful. Would not recommend.

Convenient to the airport; just stayed for one night prior to flight. Very clean and updated for the price.

My mother and I were in town from the Central Valley because my grandfather had a stroke. Instead of going with a big chain hotel company I thought we could give our business to a local inn. When I checked into the inn, the young gentleman at the counter was very friendly. He even recommended some good places to eat nearby. We unloaded the few bags we had I removed the decorative throw on bedding and discovered footprints with dirt and public hairs on the bedding and pillows. The room was full of dirt and the mirrors had streaks on them like it was rubbed with dust. I immediately went to tell the person at the front counter but it was a young lady this time and she was apologetic and said they had one room left. We checked into that room, I inspected bed and it was fine but still thick layers of dust. The bathroom floors had long hairs all over and in the tub. The towels were paper in with dirt and makeup stains. We were so grossed out but did not want to be problematic so we wrapped the pillows with our own beach towels and used our clothes to dry our face and hands. We just wanted to go to sleep and leave asap. What’s weird is that when we left at 8am the vacancy was still up and was in when we had returned from dinner at 9pm the night before. I do not recommend and unfortunately this has made me reconsider staying in inns.

Room featured a fridge, microwave, and smaller sized flat screen TV with cable. Parking was onsite and included - location had easy access to highway. It's in an older area, but we did not feel unsafe. Room had ample lighting, a desk/chair, table and 2 queens. Friendly and accommodating staff. A good value for the price and decent location. Denny's, Starbucks, and more nearby. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

At checking in, I was assigned to a room that had not been cleaned. I was reassigned to a different room after pointing this out to the front desk. At first glance, the room seemed OK. It was equipped with a microwave and small fridge. The bed was ok but the blankets had holes from cigarette burns. The pillows were lumpy and terrible. The room seems to have been renovated 2 years prior but was poorly maintained. The bath towels were small, thin and grungy. The face towel was stained and it looked like a cleaning rag that had been used in a mechanic’s shop. I took a picture of it as proof. The shower curtain is white but somewhat yellowing from use. The soapdish was filled with white soap scum residue. The TV did not work. The location is not bad and there is free parking. WIFI is decent. It was better than camping and hotel room cost was relatively inexpensive compared to other motels in the area. I can’t recommend this place for customers who are very particular about cleanliness. Sorry for the bad review but it’s the truth.

The walls between rooms allow for even normal conversations to be annoying. And remote control couldn't control TV on/off or volume. Clerk at office didn't know how to fix it.

Now the facts, king bed hard, not comfortable. Pillows flat, totally unacceptable (we had 3 pillows each) Room run down, older cheap furniture. Bathroom floor tiles full of black mold. Towels rough, not soft at all. Ice machine, even after several months of bad reviews mentioned not working, still not working. We're not picky but honestly shouldn't that have been fixed by now?? The room decor is old, nothing like what's posted. Overpriced and not comfortable. Lacking the most important things like comfy bed and good pillows. Clean was questionable. Most hotels don't get it. If you had ONE good pillow you wouldn't need several flat or cheap pillows. I hope this review is accepted as room for improvement not complaints. Needless to say we left after 2 days, not staying our intended 7 days. Also, walkable area with 2 diners, gas station and 7 Eleven nearby.

Check in was easy, although my friend and I couldn't split the bill, I had to put it on the "authorized" card, then my friend paid his half via venmo. Parking as good and VERY well lit. Room was pretty small with a nice bathroom with no water pressure. AC was slightly effective. I can put up with a lot, so I would say this is a solid 3 out of 5.

This property might have gotten a four or a five if not for the television fiasco I experienced. On arrival my television didn't work. After much hassle, I was able to turn it on and change channels but volume control and mute did not work. The volume was loud and annoying. I asked for another room, but they would not accommodate me.

I expected more from a highly rated room. The room is very small, there's no place to hang any clothes (the closet bar is missing), base of bed is metal and made a loud noise every time your foot touches it. Overall it is a smaller version of a Motel 6 room.

What I like was that It was convenient, parking included, clean and the renovated room has microwave & refrigerator. What I disliked was that the walls are thin, you can hear the adjacent guest movement, voices, TV , shower etc ..Being that its next to the street, it is hard not to hear the noice coming from all the cars driving by.

Great place to stay. Excellent customer service

While the room seemed very clean, the walls were hollow and I heard the next rooms tv until 1:30 am until I had to go next door and ask him to turn it down. Then I heard talking through the walls. They need sound proofing seriously. Also, I was turned away at first because I arrived too early. Apparently it was lunch time. Maybe my fault, yes, but most places have somebody there at all times, even the hotel right next door.

When checking in we got keys to a room and when we opened the room we saw it was already taken with someone else’s things in there, this is absolutely not okay from a safety point of view that the staff doesn’t know what rooms are taken and not. They seemed surprised by the information that the room was taken, but we got another room. Also our keys stopped working the second day so we had to ask them to activate them again, and luckily for us we didn’t come late that day so they were still at the office. So it seems like they have no order in their booking systems at all. The room only had one set of towels even though we were three guests, so we had to go back again and ask for more towels and the only had a few extra. The bed only had two flat pillows and no bed lamp, only roof lamps existed, so we couldn’t read in the evening when our son was sleeping. The bed linen was sliding around all night and it was a mess to sleep in. The door to the bathroom got stuck in the floor so you had to push it really hard to open and close, extremely enjoying after a few times. The hand and shower soaps was ended really fast so we had to use our own soap already the second day. They don’t clean the rooms during your stay.

THE OWNER IS AMAZING! Perhaps THE NICEST MAN ON PLANET ! The housekeeper is SUPER AWESOME as well! Wow this place has really turned itself around ! EASILY THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IN THE AREA , best price , and best location ! I love this place ! I would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone!

Everything about the stay was below average. Which would have been ok. But ... The worst part was the other guests. Several of them were hanging out in their open doorways making excessive noise for hours. The hotel did nothing and did not answer the phone when we called to complain. The room next to ours has multiple people visiting at different times of the day and night as well as very loud conversations from midnight to 3 am and starting again at 6 am. I have my suspicion about what was going on. Anyway, it made for a very uncomfortable and unpleasant stay....I have stayed at many hotels in Monterey, this would be last in my list

The property and rooms were very clean. There were potted flowers and plants that gave the hotel a nice touch. My only reason for giving an "okay" rating is the poor communication from the desk staff. He barely spoke any English. He tried to give me a single Queen bed instead of the King. I pushed back until I showed him my reservation on my phone. Could not charge FOUR of my credit cards to take a deposit and insisted it was my cards. I had to scrounge for $100 cash instead. Lots of communication issues any time I had a question. I came to the front desk 2 times during my stay and a tv in another room was playing so loud that no one could hear me ring the service bell or knock. I even tried tried to call the front desk from my cell and it went to a remote answering service. The rooms were clean and well cared for. Housekeeping was friendly. If you book, just hope you don\'t need to communicate.

I had to find a place last minute for my family and stumbled upon this gem. It was small and quaint but for the size, the room was very clean and well-maintained and the front desk clerk was very friendly. In addition, a bonus was that it was within walking distance of restaurants and small convenience stores and just a 10 min drive from Cannery Row and the Wharf.

Monterey Fireplace Inn seems to be remodeled with new flooring and painted walls. The room was very clean and had nice curtains and all the furniture seemed to be newer. The Service people are courteous and respect my wishes not to clean my room during my stay. I had a great stay. The only not so great thing is that Monterey Fireplace Inn is right next to a busy street.

Stayed at the property for a race weekend at Laguna Seca. Can't beat the convenience, plus a great experience for the price. Place is a little old but very clean and well maintained. We felt safe leaving our sports car in the parking lot in front of the room. A short drive to great authentic local restaurants with a ton more 10 minutes away in Monterey.

Overall, it's clean, the staff is friendly and it's walking distance to a few restaurants and a Safeway. Perfect for my needs.

Really quiet and nice area, close to a supermarket and some restaurants and you can walk to the beach from there too. Bathroom was very nice.

Stayed here for Caliroots festival. It was a really easy walk to and from the festival, had safe parking, and was clean and quiet at night for some great rest in between long days. Will absolutely stay here again for the festival. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This little place was just what we needed. The manager/owner is top notch on service. The place was super clean and recently updated. They have everything you need (microwave and fridge!). Bed was just okay. Location is a bit out of the way and you need to drive places. If folks outside are noisy you can hear them, but we didn’t have much trouble with noise. Overall I would recommend, especially for the price.

Very c lean and nice. Area doesn’t offer much for dining, but it’s a quick drive to downtown.wharf. Wish there were walking options closer. Nice simple place.

Pretty basic facility for the price I got. But did the job of putting us up, and there are breakfast places within 2 minutes walk though no breakfast right there etc.

Simple, clean and quiet at a ok price. No frills. No breakfast no coffee. We'll come back if they don't raise prices. Room was nice. Just need lamps next to beds, the lights on ceiling blind you laying in bed or you're in the dark.
