Pros: Had a great trip here with kids. They had a good time in the pools and kids area all day! We would come back, as it was a good value. Pools, beach, and outdoor areas were nice, views from ocean-view room were truly great! Cons: Food: was not good unfortunately, despite there being a good amount of options. (Kids mostly ate hotdogs and pizza and desserts.) Things were either undercooked or burnt under heatlamps. Lots of the food handling didn’t seem too clean. We were here on mostly weekdays but on the weekends they were not able to keep up with the buffet food at the snackbar. Cleanliness: A couple times common restrooms and drains were backing up and there was no soap. WiFi: Absolutely horrible. My partner needed to work during the trip in order for us to be able to come on the dates we booked. There was only WiFi on Wednesday. From Thurs-Sat there was no WiFi at all in the rooms and only occasionally intermittently in common areas.

Room was clean just outdated. They were renovating a pool on our side of building and unclear how we should get to the main pool or accessing kids club. But we figured it out. First experience of being charged seaweed cleaning of the beach but definitely understand the need. Overall, it was a good property!

Beautiful beaches, nice area, yummy dinners. Unfortunately no night life what so ever so that was disappointing. Everything closed at 10-11pm every night. There weren't many gluten free options for my mother which was difficult. Breakfast wasn't great but dinners were excellent at every restaurant.

Clean property and friendly staff. Food was fine, there was food all day long. Nice pools, but the lounges were placed almost on one another, too close. Not even a step apart. On the beach, there were not enough umbrellas. The pictures on Expedia.com display a lot more shade on the beach. Expedia, or the property should update the images. Also, we were supposed to have a free bottle of water per person daily, but couple of days no water was left in the room. Overall, we still had good vacation.

Very nice vacation at this resort. Staff, food, pools, pool activities during thr day all.great. the only complaint I have is the layout of the walking areas oitside around the pools is designed in such a way that it seems crowded and the lounge chairs at the pools are way to close together

This hotel is a little older, but the staff and the service makes up for it. Food is good and the best part is they share amenities with its sister more modern hotel next door. So you can use their restaurants and other services.

When we arrived the lobby and property looked beautiful but upon entering our room and the outside pool area we found it to be wore down, old, dirty and not as advertised in pictures and reviews we found online. Half the resort was shut down for construction which we were not informed about and upon looking at their website was not noted on their as well. It was the middle of day and only dining available was pool side where food was cold and old tasting. The pigeons were pooping all over tables we ate at, around the one pool open u could see cracks and wear and tear, and upon walking around the open facilities it was very dirty. We checked out 30 mins after arrival and went and stayed at a nearby resort.

Air conditioners don't work in the entire hotel. Some people tried sleeping on the pool chairs. Kids were crying. I had to stay another hotel even though I was paying for Royal Solaris because the room was 84 degrees. I stayed at this hotel 7 years ago. The roof of the main dininroom collapsed in the middle of the night. We had our meals outdoors in the summer heat. I thougt it was a one time issue so I booked the same hotel. It was a mistake. They didn't refund my money.

The staff were great and kind. The front desk was accommodating, and informative. The timeshare people were pushy, even when we attended the presentation, we had people still asking us to attend it. The property itself is outdated, they need new poolside loungers, they were so dirty and gross. Our room was also dirty. The bed sheets were itchy and we even found sand on our sheets. We also found what looked to be a booger on the curtain, it was absolutely disgusting, there was a hair in it and everything. Our jacuzzi was also disgusting, looked like it wasn't cleaned at all, we didn't even end up using it. Food was good, wish there was more a variety, but nonetheless it was still good. The snackbar was good, especially the pizza. The cups at the bars we so dirty, we watched the bar staff just dump the used dirty cups into a bucket of soapy water then rinse it. The activities were great, loved the entertainment.

Horrible experience in this hotel stayed in Rm1109 first night find roaches in room took pictures and took it to front desk . The person in front desk had a bad attitude when told them they had roaches. Second every time called front desk because needed something they will say will go in 5 minutes never showed up had to constantly call them to get service we needed. The place did not look like it did in pictures very old my parents room was leaking from AC they did a Mickey Mouse fix. I don’t recommend staying here. Pay a little more and get a way better hotel.

Por este medio deseo manifestar mi inconformidad respecto a la experiencia vivida durante mi estancia en el Hotel Royal Solaris Cancún. Considero que el servicio recibido no corresponde con el costo pagado ni con lo que se promociona, lo cual genera una profunda sensación de insatisfacción. Lamentablemente, no se cuenta con un mecanismo claro ni profesional para canalizar quejas o sugerencias, lo cual deja al huésped en un estado de indefensión ante situaciones que requieren atención oportuna. Lamentamos profundamente que, pese a haber confiado en el servicio ofrecido por el hotel, la experiencia haya sido deficiente. Por tal motivo, procederé a presentar mi denuncia formal ante PROFECO, ya que considero que no se están respetando los derechos del consumidor ni las condiciones prometidas al momento de la contratación del servicio. Espero que esta situación sirva como una llamada de atención para mejorar sus estándares de calidad y atención al cliente. Y agregó se fue el agua, no sirve el teléfono, estaban reparando a lado de la habitación y se oían martillazos toda la noche , el baño igual disfuncional .

Room had a beautiful ocean view and housekeeping did a great job each day. However we booked a room with jetted tub on balcony and the jets did not work. We called to ask for it to be fixed several times, each time they would act like they knew nothing about it and then finally after 2 receptionist conspired behind the wall of reception for 5 minutes, they came with a video on a cellphone of water in a tub and said ‘see it works, they can show you how to use it.’ We had a good laugh.. we don’t need someone to show us how to fill a tub and push a button. But what do you know.. we returned to our room later that day and it was actually fixed. The only thing good at the buffet was the Mexican coffee. Only able to get a reservation at the restaurants 2x in 5 days. Come to find out they make 2 of three available to guests at the sister resorts. And the times we did get in the tables were 80% empty. Not to mention the pool which was very over crowded (available to sister resorts as well) and impossible to get a lounge chair unless you go down the night before and throw a towel over them, which they say is against the rules yet EVERYONE dos it. We spent 7 hours at the pool one day and a row of chairs was held with someone stuff and never used, this needs to be fixed immediately. Did get some nice pictures but will not stay here again.

The problems were the air conditioning and noise at night. Our room stayed around 77 degrees and wouldn’t really go below that even when we adjusted the thermostat. Friend said their room was too cold. The other problem was the noise at night. Every night kids would be running up and down the hallway screaming at the top of their lungs. This was happening well past midnight. Door slamming all night was bad too. The rooms need soundproofing badly. The resort should reserve all top floors for adult only guests and bottom floors for kids.

Old, dirty, and very loud. Rooms were okay, you can hear EVERYTHING from your room, hallways were very loud at night and hard to sleep. Bath towels were thin and small. Hotel was kinda gross, hair everywhere. Hair in the sheets, on the new blanket I requested, in the pool, on the floor in the buffet room. Buffet food was okay. Could not get a reservation at any of the restaurants because they were “booked” but after talking to concierge they fit us in right when the restaurant opened. The food options were limited to the one Buffett for breakfast & dinner, no one tells you at check in that you have to make reservations to eat at the other restaurants. The internet access is very limited & it’s not a secure connections with a password. The room is very outdated & worn down. The pics on the website are of the rooms that have been remodeled which are ONLY available if you are a vacation club member. If you’re not a vacation club member you will be put in an old outdated, worn down room. I do NOT recommend this hotel at all.

We stayed as a family of four—two adults and two kids (ages 11 and 9). 1.The room was a good size, but the noise insulation between rooms and the hallway was almost nonexistent. I had to use earplugs, like I do at other noisy hotels. For anyone who can’t sleep with earplugs, this could be a real issue. 2.The pillows were way too tall it felt like sleeping standing up. Also, the top blanket cover wasn’t clean. It had stains and looked like it hadn’t been replaced between guests, which wasn’t great. Now, onto the good stuff: •The food and drinks were excellent—lots of fresh options throughout the day. Some of the restaurants require reservations through the app at least a day in advance. They’re not necessarily better in terms of food, but it’s a nice experience and worth trying since it’s included. •The staff was super friendly and always answered all my questions. The only downside was the check-in process—it lacked clear information and guidance. You kind of have to figure things out yourself or find someone to explain the activities and dining options. If you want to be treated really good make sure to tip the waiters and bartenders. We did tip but once you stop tipping the waiters start to ignore you. For example they say us down for breakfast it took them 30 min and it was only because I got up and asked who can grab us a cup of coffee.. In order to get really good service you need to tip them all the time you are there. Another thing as soon as you check in you get harassed to become a partner. We said no multiple of times and told them we weren’t interested but they kept pushing. They even followed us to the pool area after had told them no and that we just wanted to relax.

Everything is very clean, the food has good variety, the entertainment is great, and the staff is exceptional. One day I was certain I’d lost my phone - the security team was so attentive and helpful. I could hardly believe that they literally walked everywhere with me, looking in bushes, tracking the “find my phone app” etc. I have the sense that the staff isn’t just nice because they have to be but because they are just genuinely kind and caring people.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. Beautiful view. Comfortable room, although the pillows were hard. We did listen to “club Solaris” program. Had no intention of buying in and informed the Rep before it started. As the time went way over time we left. They weren’t very happy and we didn’t get the promo’s promised. If you aren’t interested don’t agree to listen. Would definitely return to this resort.

Royal Solaris is a great option for the value. While it won't be the top luxury experience you would expect for the hotel, ambiance, dining, and pool area as the Marriot or Riu, it is a solid 4 star hotel that makes up for it with the 5 star service. The food is more catered to local dishes and lacks alot of western options outside of lunch. The dessert is 5/5 and excellent. The restaurants are okay and have a fine dining experience but the quality of food is okay. The hotel is still dated in some parts but they are constantly renovating and improving these areas. For 2 days of our stay you could hear them jackhammering and doing construction for 24 hours. In 2 years time I can see the aesthetics of the hotel improving quite substantially. The rooms themselves are modern and nice. Now my only con about the Royal Solaris is they want you to invest in their membership, time share. They will invite you to members breakfast, offer free excursions, massage and discounts on your stay to entice you to join. You are given the option to refuse after partaking in the free offers. However, it is best to just avoid that awkward situation. If you are a casual vacationer in Cancun membership will most likely not be for you. Also these excursions can be booked at an extremely better discount if you call the company offering it on trip advisor and Expedia directly from the hotel. This cuts out the middle man fees. If you visit 2 to 3 times a year a membership could be valuable.

I came here with my mom and 2 teenagers and we all loved it! Room was big enough for 4 of us. We had it cleaned every day. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was great with many choices. Hotel has its own store with everything you need for vacation (swimming suits, sunscreens, shirts and shorts, etc). Beach is clean with plenty of seats. We were absolutely happy with our stay!

The check-in was unpleasant; we were not informed about the property, and had to find out from the waiter where we could have other food options. All restaurants expect buffet requires reservations via download their app. One waitress for the pool and none for beach area. Drinks watered down. Staff very friendly. Not a lot of activities for the kids just pool. Room was spacious and cleaned everyday. Recommend if your family is on a budget not great for couples. 15min from airport, use uber, it’s cheaper than taxi.

Our 9 days here were wonderful! Check in and out was very smooth and not a long wait. The hotel has an app that lists all the activities and restaurants and allows you to make reservations for the different restaurants. Sometimes the app was a bit slow or we had trouble getting online but it’s Mexico so the Wi-Fi is not always the best but we were on vacation so it’s ok. There were so many food choices that you could always find something to eat and the seafood options were always so fresh and amazing. We found some really wonderful waiters and would always ask to be in their section. Israel in the breakfast buffet is amazing! He made our stay special by his excellent service. Definitely eat at the Bogavante restaurant at lunch-no reservation needed and the food and view is amazing. You can also use the pool at the GR Caribe next to RS and it’s a quieter pool with more shade. When we were there the hotel was pretty busy with lots of families so you do have to get up early -7 am or so to find the best pool side seats. Same if you want to sit by the beach but even though there are umbrellas bc of the way the sun goes you often don’t have shade. The ocean is beautiful but there are some rocks so you have to be careful where you enter. Definitely do the parasailing with the guys right on the beach. It’s $75 per person and so worth it. The poolside staff is amazing with all the daily activities. Good job Matias Lalo Maggie Eder and Michele. We will def come back here!!

My husband & I loved this hotel, for our 2nd time in Cancun The staff was exceptional. The food was fabulous. We got a couples massage together. It was amazing. This is a family hotel. There are a lot of kids at this hotel, and in the swimming pool areas. That did not bother us. While staying at this hotel, we also had full access to the hotel next door. The pools, the buffets, the restaurants. It made us feel special. The view from our room was spectacular. For the price, this hotel was great. I can see why the price is a little lower than most, because of the Beach. It is beautiful, but there are rocks and red flags. You can not swim in it near by, you have to walk a little further down to the hotel beach spot (with yellow flags). I would stay at this hotel again, if I was on a budget. The hotels down the beach from this one are not good, I would not want to stay at them. My husband & I took a walk down the beach, and I am glad I did not choose them. These hotels are less expensive for a reason. Keep that in mind when choosing a hotel.

#Expedia did me dirty. They listed this as a romantic stay, which threw us off when we realized it was a family and kids resort. Great for families, nice staff, lots of pizza, fries, and nachos, but that’s about it. Theres 3 adult only hot tubs, all with kids swimming in them. Nice views and a beautiful ocean. Marco Polo was the fancy restaurant inside where we did end up having a romantic dinner after all, which was lovely. Just wish it wasn’t advertised as a “romantic steal”.

Pools, beach, and outdoor areas were nice, views from ocean-view room were truly great! Cons: Food: was not good unfortunately, despite there being a good amount of options. (Kids mostly ate hotdogs and pizza and desserts.) Things were either undercooked or burnt under heatlamps. Lots of the food handling didn’t seem too clean. We were here on mostly weekdays but on the weekends they were not able to keep up with the buffet food at the snackbar. Cleanliness: A couple times common restrooms and drains were backing up and there was no soap. WiFi: Absolutely horrible. My partner needed to work during the trip in order for us to be able to come on the dates we booked. There was only WiFi on Wednesday. From Thurs-Sat there was no WiFi at all in the rooms and only occasionally intermittently in common areas.

Overall our stay was good. The staff is very friendly and nice. The hotel is clean. The food was the issue. Yes the buffet are huge and variety of choices but the taste was not very delicious. It makes sense when they have to cook for over than 500 people every day. They have also some good restaurants, booking is required before, the food is delicious. I recommend the hotel.

This was very misleading, sharing amenities with the hotel next door made dining very chaotic, the pool area was overflowing with children. We made dinner reservations with the bogavante restaurant on weds at 8:30 when we arrived the restaurant was closed. The food in the buffet was repetitive the same things offered every day. Not good nor a good variety. We had a room with a jacuzzi on the balcony and it did not work. Most of the wait staff was unattentive and rude. Our room was nice and comfortable that is the plus. Would we stay there again? That is a no.

Royal Solaris is a great option for the value. While it won't be the top luxury experience you would expect for the hotel, ambiance, dining, and pool area as the Marriot or Riu, it is a solid 4 star hotel that makes up for it with the 5 star service. The food is more catered to local dishes and lacks alot of western options outside of lunch. The dessert is 5/5 and excellent. The restaurants are okay and have a fine dining experience but the quality of food is okay. The hotel is still dated in some parts but they are constantly renovating and improving these areas. For 2 days of our stay you could hear them jackhammering and doing construction for 24 hours. In 2 years time I can see the aesthetics of the hotel improving quite substantially. The rooms themselves are modern and nice. Now my only con about the Royal Solaris is they want you to invest in their membership, time share. They will invite you to members breakfast, offer free excursions, massage and discounts on your stay to entice you to join. You are given the option to refuse after partaking in the free offers. However, it is best to just avoid that awkward situation. If you are a casual vacationer in Cancun membership will most likely not be for you. Also these excursions can be booked at an extremely better discount if you call the company offering it on trip advisor and Expedia directly from the hotel. This cuts out the middle man fees. If you visit 2 to 3 times a year a membership could be valuable.
