Rodeway Inn Middletown - Newport

Good hotel to stay near Newport. Plenty of parking space. The continental breakfast was very good. They had fresh fruit, different type of breads, bagels, muffins, pound cakes, coffee, tea, juice. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, we stayed in a 2 queen beds room. No safe in the room. No blow dryer either. Small refrigerator. Clean hotel. There is a Ma’s coffee shop steps away the hotel. I will stay here again.

The inn doesn't have manual room temperature gauges

The outside stairs were exposed to all kinds of weather. No covers and Slippery when wet. The hallway carpets smells old. Front desk personnel Josh was very courteous and patient.

The place is clean, but tired. We had to go up exterior stairs to get to our room, which was a pain, especially with luggage. When people would come up to our floor, the door would slam and wake us up. Also, the first keys we were given did not work.

Great location. We were able to walk to downtown and a quick drive to the beach. Also walked across the street to Ma’s donuts and Newport Creamery. Very reasonably priced

Stayed for St. Patrick’s weekend. Newport area has a lack of affordable option on busy holiday weekend. This fit the bill, the motel, has been modernized, with cosmetic enhancements from its late 80’s decor. Also enhanced security. Which I’m sure was welcomed by locals. As far as the actual hotel facilities, it would cost significantly more, and if so this place wouldnt be affordable anymore. It’s comfortable with caveats. Heat you can’t control in your room. It’s central for the entire building. Work around, crack open a window. Doors rattled, also fixable, but you will need to put a wash cloth on door jam to stop rattling. * This is actually fixable & a small cost, as it’s just adding a small seal to doors. Breakfast was fine, just carb heavy. No protein options. I didn’t care too much about extras since I was out digging clams. Room had larger than average TV for hotels. In general, this is a sleep for the night kinda place. But don’t expect much more. If it’s this place or another for your fussy family member. Then don’t choose this place unless your budget conscious and understand the caveat's.

The door does not closed properly

The property and the rooms are way better than the pictures on the website! I was very happy with how clean and fresh my room was. The people at the front desk were quite nice and accommodating! Fancy towel folding too! Plenty of easy safe parking. I will definitely stay again!

I would not recommend staying here. You’ll find others peoples hair, bugs and other gross items in your bed

The staff was nice, the room was very clean but the carpet in the hall smelled like cat urine.

Bed was horrible. sank in the middle so you felt like you slept folded in half. A mouse or several mice had a picnic with our snacks. Definitely would not recommend this hotel. Wished I had taken pictures of what the bed looked like with a person on it and all that was chewed by the mice.

The receptionist was very nice and helpful. He’s great. But the hotel is terrible. It’s not clean. I found hair on the bed, and the floor was dirty. It is also very noisy. You could hear everything from the other rooms and from the street even at midnight.

The building is older so room was dated; old carpet etc. possibly use to be able to smoke in there - had stale smell but the size and cleanliness were fantastic! Good experience for the one night I stayed...

We found bedbugs in our bed

initially when we checked in the room seemed cleaned, staff that checked us in/out were very polite and helpful, when we woke up the next morning to ants (a lot of ants) were in the bathroom sink/floor and even found an ant in the bed (gross!!!) brought it to the Manager\'s attension (who denied they found ants (wish i had taken a picture) and then proceeded to say after we left they found "vomit" in the sink (absolute BS) we will be contacting the corporate offices -

the room was completely renovated with a new bed, fairly large refridgerator and was actually quite large

As some people said, this hotel has a good location, near the shopping area. Even though it was right on a major street, I heard no noise from my room. What I could hear, though, was people's heavy footsteps above me. The walls are paper thin. I stayed there because of the low rate. If I had more budget I would choose somewhere else.

this hotel is in terrible condition my door didn’t even lock, i felt unsafe and

Room was extremely warm, with little help from the old A/C unit. The A/C unit was very loud and did not work well. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. The window was unlocked, not safe for a 1st floor room. The toilet seat was broken and falling off.

Room was small and cramped. Furniture out of the 70's or before. Employees wer enice and helpful. Needs major upgrade but it was adequate.

me and my girlfriend stayed here for a weekend. not a bad place , clean , bathroom was just renovated my only complaint was the internet , super slow but other than that i would recommend this place

Location is convenient to newport, parts of the room and property have been very well kept up and many updates have obviously made, but there many areas that still need updating. The check in process was pleasant and easy

For the little we paid, this place was perfect. Indeed they could spend a fortune to upgrade and upscale it but then it would be cost prohibitive to many. It was very clean with touches like flowers around that showed their pride in being the place you picked. The front desk guys were outstanding in their recommendations and patience with my million questions. Thanks to all the staff!

Staff not friendly or helpful. Staff thought it was a great idea to do work at 6am two days in a row. They must’ve walked a marathon from 6am-10am. Called front desk multiple times and they just kept telling me that there was nobody up there. Go up myself to find three workers up there who told me to go away and that they don’t care what I had to say. Stay away from this place. Spend the extra money to go anywhere else

Would have been fine given the price, but the hotel reception did not open in the morning, so there was no continental breakfast (though that was supposed to be included) and I could not formally check out.

It’s as advertised…no frills, but they don’t portray themselves as high end so it did meet my expectations. The downside was that I booked a two queen room on Expedia (paid the up charge), but the hotel received confirmation for only one queen bed. Check in took close to 20 minutes. Too slow.

Average at best. Just needed a place to sleep after a long day. Couldn’t find anything better, last minute Labor Day weekend. Josh at the front desk was great.

Decent price, but not a place I would stay at again. Too much traffic and too close to the road. I would rate the room a 2. Not a lot of effort put into appearance. Pics on website look better than the room itself.

Great for the price. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, great bathroom, super friendly staff. The only thing, bring earplugs. Great location comes with a lot of street traffic noise.

The location of the hotel was very convenient to downtown Newport. The room was updated. It is on a busy street, but that shouldn’t deter you from staying there. Would stay again!

We had at first not considered Middletown as the area we wanted to stay, but weren't able to find accommodation elsewhere. How wrong we were! This area and in particular, this hotel was perfect for what we needed after a full day in Newport. The second floor room had a balcony which was an added plus, the room itself was well designed with a sofa and desk, microwave and frig. The bathroom was a bit old and small, but no real complaints can be made. The free breakfast in the morning was great. One with many choices and complete - pancakes, Eng muffins, bagels, pastry, sausage, etc. No complaints.
