White House Napa

Especially enjoyed the beautiful pool and common areas. Minor improvements would be for more variety at breakfast. Also, room 6 was lovely but long heavy drapes were difficult to close and the door did not latch without engaging the deadbolt. Minor irritations in an otherwise perfect stay.

Don't stay at this property. We recently booked a trip for our 30th anniversary. When we arrived we were told we did not have a reservation and had to wait for 30-minutes for them to figure it out. The front desk agent was us detailed instructions on how to access the hot tub but once we arrived we discovered that the hot tub was empty and has not worked in a long time. All of the lights are burned out in the chandeliers. That makes it very hard to enjoy happy hour and breakfast in the dark. We notified staff of our unhappiness and we heard nothing back. Don't risk your trip on this place. New ownership has no clue what they are doing. It is a nice location.

Location was not great. 3 stores building without elevator. No free water in room, only $12 for bottle. Pool was dirty. Not enough staff, only one person in the house for everything.

This is not what I was lead to believe! Upon driving up to the White House there were work trucks, yellow caution tape across the front entry and very limited parking. The entire structure’s windows and doors were covered in plastic. They were under remodel. I immediately ask for a refund from Trey Harris the general manager but was refused. He then berated me for booking through a third party and said he would NEVER give me a refund. He was very condescending. After discussing with Expedia they agreed to return my money but Trey again refused. When my daughter was practically in tears( we had booked this for her birthday) and he still refused. I was offered approximately $57 back for a trip that cost close to ten times as much. I had no choice but to stay. Upon entering the room which had a beautiful balcony on the website, we encountered a sign that said we were not allowed to go out there due to the renovation. The pool was also closed all day and only open from 5 pm to 8am. Had I known any of this was going on I would have canceled prior to my trip and rebooked else where. There was nothing on the website, Hotels.com website or did I receive any correspondence from the Inn about it condition. In the end I received a 10% discount and a promise of a free night( which was never given) a bottle of champagne. Shame on you for your poor business practices!

Biggest reason we chose this property was for the hot tub and it was broken! The jets didn't work and it was full of algae. There is elevator music on continuously in the nice main area, so you cant read by the fireplace. The breakfast was ok. They have nice expresso machines. Room was clean. I wouldn't stay here again.

The building is stunning, the location is also great, just a short walk from 1st Street. The beds and pillows were also really good. Now the not so good. You have to ask for your room to be serviced, which then comes with the issue of trying to get hold of someone to ask for that. My husband rang the bell 4 times and stood around for 30 mins trying to get someone but no one came, so he gave up. At the prices charged the rooms should be cleaned every day without having to ask. The problem seems to be is that only one person is on at a time. They have to do everything, reception, cleaning, towels. Then there was what should be a beautiful pool area, the problem as you will see from photos is the pool was really dirty, no way I was getting that. Overall has potential but needs more staff.

This is a beautiful majestic mansion about 3-4 blocks from the main shopping, wine-tasting street. The rooms have high ceilings, making it feel spacious. The shower is updated, big and modern. The biggest problem is that there is no elevator and no one offers to help you carry bags upstairs. We were on the second floor and friends were on the third. Also, when I checked out, no one answered the bell at the front desk. However, the breakfasts were bountiful, healthy and fresh. Attentive staff there. And the pool area is a beautiful bonus. Would I stay again? Probably not. But it was lovely.

Upgrade the TP and clean cob webs on porch. then we will be all set.

Very nice clean property and well maintained.

This Inn is not great value for its price. Shower was short with no hot water, the cleaner smell in the hotel and rooms was toxic smelling, no gym or work out space and the hotel felt dated. Staff was nice and the room was clean.

My husband and I stayed at White House Inn for 4 days, as a treat for me during some difficult hospital appointments. The photos looked lovely but sadly our stay was spoiled by non-existent housekeeping, dreadful breakfasts and very poor customer service. On arrival, we were asked if we would like housekeeping for our stay, but this never materialized. I complained twice and, on our last day, we did get a few extra towels, some shower gel and our room was tidied. They state breakfast is until 9.30 am, but the 1st morning there was nothing left at 9:00 am, the dining room was a shambles with dirty dishes everywhere and no clean tables. When I asked the staff if they could replenish the food, they were rude and unhelpful. It was the same the 2nd morning. There was no coffee and the espresso machine was not working, the food had nearly all gone and the tables were left with dirty dishes everywhere. Only on our last day was any breakfast available. Finally, on our last night, the piped music in the lobby was left on all night and I could not find anyone to help turn it off. I spoke with a member of staff about all this, and she advised me to email the hotel. I did this but nobody has replied to my email. I have also telephoned the hotel twice but have not been able to get through. I feel so disappointed, that I had to write this. I would definitely not stay there again; their customer service is awful and I do not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing break.

There was also no one on site after 7pm so when I was locked out of my room because the door code wouldn’t work I wasn’t able to get a hold of anyone for 2.5 hours. Which meant I had to climb through the window as my keys to my car were locked in the room. Of course that was unsettling as it meant my room wasn’t secure.

Cute B&B with a nice outdoor area with pool & firepits. Breakfast was nice to have on site & the Happy Hour was a nice touch. We stayed in Room 1 which is next to the front door. If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend a different room as some guests came in late and were chatty.

The property is very clean and nice. The rooms are very small and for the price it would be nice to have a bit more space. Also breakfast was very poor.

Beautiful historic building. Easy check in, we didnt check out breakfast but the fround were really pretty. Only downside was the 3 bedded room was a king with a window seat with a matrress. Not super comfy for an adult. Good for kids.

The house was beautiful and nicely decorated. The room was spacious and comfortable.

The website misrepresents the Queen bed rooms. We were in the1st floor #4 Queen room which was dark, shabby, small and over looking the parking lot. It was also next to the kitchen and restaurant so very very noisy. The Queen bed was squashed up against a wall which made it very hard to get in and out of bed. Also, the hotel uses a software application to manage check in/out. Just before our trip I received an automated message asking if I wanted to upgrade to a bigger room and I said yes to a King, but then they “denied my request”. Grrrrrr…! Then I got a second message asking if I wanted to upgrade and this time I said yes to a king deluxe which they approved. Yay! When I got to the hotel though they said - whoopsie .. we made a mistake. Double grrrrrrrrr!!! It was all very disappointing really for the price.

We were on the 3rd floor with no elevator, the code to our room didn’t work and there was no one to check us in when we arrived. A maid tried to help us but there was a language barrier. The room was ok but way over priced and the pictures completely misrepresent the property. Not at all what you think you are getting when you pay this much.

What a great place to stay when visiting downtown Napa! It’s an old mansion that has been superbly renovated. The rooms are good size and the beds are very comfortable. The shower is perfect. The grounds are very inviting. Overall we would highly recommend The White House!

Boutique bed and breakfast in a historic building. Our only issue was a faulty bathroom door that did not close in room 14. Overall a lovely experience.

Nice property, however you can hear everything going on in the halls outside the rooms. Guests talking etc.

The staff was great , it was quite at night and bed was comfortable however the room was so tiny no space to hang any clothes up the bathroom was so tiny had to close shower door to wash hands and stand in front of sink, hot tub was gross and cold not working even though I called a week ahead to make sure .. construction noise and tree trimming first two days we were there . There was trash outside by the pool area looked junky, needs a sink and real coffee maker in the commons area … the shower took forever for hot water overall the rating is Probally a 2 or 3 the staff and bed were nice otherwise very disappointed for our anniversary stay won’t be staying again …

We booked a month ago for the Labor day weekend. Hours before checkin time, they CANCELLED our reservation the day we were due to arrive. No prior notice. No nothing. Ruined our weekend as we had to scramble on a busy weekend to find an alternative. Don't let the White House destroy your Napa trip.

We had problems checking in, because we didn't receive instructions we were supposed to receive. The hotel doesn't have a front-desk and guests need to receive a passcode to enter the lobby and the room. We called the phone number posted by the hotel for help; the guy downright refused to help us and was rude as if it were all our mistakes for not receiving the email. This experience is eye-opening, as a Platinum member both on Expedia and Marriott Bonvoy. In other aspects, the room is nicely featured and clean. The management needs to use more care about check-in process after hours and their staff.

The stay itself was fine. The staff were friendly and the room was nice enough. The main problem was that the charge that showed up on my credit card did not match the hotels.com receipt. They promised to send a final receipt via email but never did. I left 4 voicemails (because no one ever answers the phone) and sent one email asking for an explanation and not one was returned. I had no choice but to put a hold on the charge through the credit card company and still waiting to hear. Extremely disappointing to say the least.

We loved it at the White House. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff is on top of everything. It’s also only a few minute walk to downtown Napa.

Our checkin and stay was fine. The property is clean and breakfast was good. However, after checkout I noticed charges on my card that were not accurate. After several days of trying to reach someone at the property, I brought up my concerns around the charges. The staff were adamant we consumed wine that we didn’t. They charged for a bottle opener that we didn’t take, refused to refund the difference of what we actually consumed, charged my friend’s card for my room when I specifically requested my room be charged on my card. Honestly, up until the dispute of charges I would have stayed again, but now, never again. Stay at the Churchill Manor next door. Much nicer property and much friendlier staff.

This place is absolutely beautiful! I wish we were staying longer. Breakfast was simply delicious! Would highly recommend. I’m an experienced traveler and former chef so my standards are high.

The property is very clean and nice. The rooms are very small and for the price it would be nice to have a bit more space. Also breakfast was very poor.

Trey and his team were amazing. They have spent the time to think about all the small touches you would want at a boutique hotel. The morning breakfast they prepared each day was always different and always delicious. We will definitely stay with them again!

Beautiful, comfortable, clean. We enjoyed our stay. It’s close to Downtown Napa. Breakfast was delicious. Overall everything was great. We plan to come back. Free parking onsite. Fast check in. Staff really nice and the owner is very sweet. They offer Happy Hour from 5-6pm.

Wonderful property great staff wine tasting at 4 to 6 and breakfast in the morning all complementary. The only thing that we question was the funky smell in the front hall.
