Very good choice in Oxford very close to the train station. Our room was at an annex building, 2nd floor, stairs no elevator, shared bathroom. Breakfast included at the main building, very nice terrace.

This hotel is next to the train station so you will hear and see the trains from your window. There are steep stairs and no lift so I would recommend not bringing any big or heavy luggage. The breakfast is just toast, cereal (only Kellogs products), yogurt, fruit and juice (coffee and tea of course), but if you want anything hot you have to pay extra (for example, Heinz beans on toast will cost you about $5; if you want eggs with bacon and sausage be prepared to pay about $13). It is located on a very busy street and there will be a constant stream of people walking by all day. It is about a fifteen minute walk to the Westgate shopping center on the south end of town, and another fifteen minutes to the central part of town (such as the covered market). It seemed quite expensive for the type of room you get, but Oxford is an expensive city to begin with. Parking is available acrossthe street for about $16 a day.

This quaint hotel was a delight. Easy access to the station and local buses. The included breakfast was filling but there is a menu offering a “larger breakfast “ at reasonable pricing. Current railway works did not impact our sleeping. The stairs are very narrow so anyone with mobility issues would find it difficult. The owner an absolute delight and informative on what to do and where to visit. We would book again.

Although there was road works, the place was easy to access. No lift in Annex which was tough with 6 bags on top floor. Will the manager was outstanding. I would go back given his hospitality and guest service. Seemed a happy place where staff were chatty and happy.

In terms of location and price, this was an excellent hotel. They have been open about being affected by noise from recent building works, but when I stayed (across a weekend in June 2024), I got excellent and quiet nights even with the window open (it was hot). Yes, some of the overall decor is dated and even a bit scruffy, but this is part of the budget package. Fancier hotels in Oxford are very expensive, and many travellers don't want to pay for that. The room itself was actually pretty modern, and perfectly pleasant. In terms of other negatives I've seen pop up in reviews: room was clean, staff were friendly, and wi-fi was fast and reliable. I had the free continental breakfast two mornings, and it was nice (especially when sat out in the garden) and I paid extra one morning for the cooked breakfast which was tasty, and preferable to cooked items sitting on a hot-plate. Overall, I'd definitely consider staying here again.

Location good with a short walk not the city centre. Staff, very friendly. Breakfast very basic, cereals, juice, coffee/tea, some fruit, toast and pastries included anything else is charged extra. Parking at another hotel £12,50 a night. Hotel, not sure you can call it that more like a B&B, we were in the Annexe rooms, short walk from the hotel, but the room was very dated, bed was not comfortable along with very basic amenities and not even a wardrobe in the room, shared bathroom was ok, newly renovated. Place is not worth the money we paid that’s for sure.

I stayed in separate building down the street. Small rooms with shared toilet and shower. It was nice enough. The staff were excellent. The area is under heavy construction so alternative parking was needed. But this was arranged. Breakfast was very nice, a free option with ability to buy more. Road closures made getting to hotel difficult but detailed instructions were provided and they worked well. This is a modest but affordable place within easy walking distance of the University.

Great hotel with excellent location to the city of Oxford. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the beds comfortable. We stayed in the annexe with a shared bathroom but this was absolutely fine. I loved sitting in the garden area and the whole hotel had a nice homely feel to it. The continental breakfast is included in the room price but for a little extra you can order hot food. This always came really promptly and was freshly cooked. I will definitely stay here again when I next visit Oxford. My kids loved it too.

Its an old building and could do with a freshen up with a lick of paint, and perhaps some new sanitary fittings, however this did not impact on our stay. The room and bedding was clean, comfortable and warm. Plenty of hot water. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful and the staff were all lovely. Brilliant location for getting into town and safe parking. This cost extra but was good value. The ongoing roadworks are not the fault of the hotel and they did all they can to minimize the noise. We slept well and was not impacted by these works.

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The standard of housekeeping and cleanliness of the room was exceptional. All staff were professional, polite and efficient. The breakfast buffet provided a good selection of healthy foods. I would definitely recommend others to stay at the hotel and would book again if visiting Oxford in the future.

Very good, clean, well-located property for an affordable stay in Oxford. Management was very kind and helpful. Staff was very kind and professional. Road construction is a bit of a noisy inconvenience but of course none of hotel's fault--situation is supposed to be better soon.

Stayed in a twin room that was very convenient for myslef and a friend. Comfortable and very closeby to the city centre. Only slight annoyance was when we arrived the room hadn't been cleaned from people before, spoke to the cleaner and said she'll clean next, even though we had arrived much after the arrival time. Overall once cleaned there were no complaints. Lovely staff!

On first glance it seems rather shabby, but the Westgate actually had everything I needed for my short stay on my own. It was spotlessly clean, really helpful friendly staff, delicious breakfast and 5 minute walk from the train station and theatre just around the corner. Decor certainly a little tired, but appreciated my stay. Thankyou!

Barely space to walk around the bed, There are roadworks outside the hotel (Months ongoing) so a diesel generator ran all night outside the bedroom window - but the owner did give us earplugs when we checked in,and a 6ft x 3ft piece of insulation was resting against the stained net curtains. Carpets stained and threadbare, "Buffet breakfast" was cereal and toast. I stay in hotels 2/3 nights every week for work and for £100-£130 you can get you nice hotels with a pool and a brakfast not in a packet. This is an absolute sh1theap you should avoid like the plague. Whoever gave this place 10/10 outstanding reviews (or anything above 2/10) are obviously blood relatives of the owners or the owners.....................

Free breakfast was adequate for a few days but got too routine for our 5 day stay. Water pressure for our 3rd floor room was unacceptable as well as water temperature. Shampoo disappeared every other day. All of the staff were exceedingly nice.

I remember struggling to get a stable WiFi connection, even though the notice on door of my room gave the impression that it was a secure connection. The other problem I had was that the power outlet for the kettle didn’t work. This concerned me as I had brought decaf coffee with me and intended to save money & time at the football match I had come to see by taking my own travel mug of hot coffee with me. The person on duty was very helpful to be fair and made the coffee for me downstairs, which I much appreciated. I would humbly suggest that this electrical issue is resolved before the room is let again. Cooked breakfast was very nice and a lot cheaper than I expected, so that was a pleasant surprise. I rarely stay in Oxford overnight, so I don’t know if my Wi-Fi issue is commonplace throughout the city.

Overall a very nice place to stay. Conveniently right next to the Oxford train station. Included breakfast buffet was nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On the last night, water started dripping into the closed from the room above. I called down and someone came to take a look, but couldn't do anything about it, and there were no rooms open to move to. Fortunately, I had already moved my clothes from the closet.

The ‘annex’ to the hotel is an old run down single front house that is down the street and around the corner, a bit further than we anticipated carrying our luggage. The beds were not particularly comfortable and the heat seemed to trap in the room no matter how long we left the windows open. Definitely dated for the price.

Although there was road works, the place was easy to access. No lift in Annex which was tough with 6 bags on top floor. Will the manager was outstanding. I would go back given his hospitality and guest service. Seemed a happy place where staff were chatty and happy.

Lovely family run hotel in central location. It’s was a bit underwhelming from the outside but the garden is beautiful and the we enjoyed the hospitality. Breakfast was very nice. We will definitely go back next time we travel in Oxford.

The hotel is in a perfect location in terms of proximity to the railway station and the city centre. The road development work makes the surrounding area a mess although the hotel garden is away from that and very pretty. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was very small with only just enough room to walk around the bed and the furniture was old. The continental buffet breakfast was very good, with a particularly good selection of fruit. It was perfectly adequate for a weekend city break.

They have been open about being affected by noise from recent building works, but when I stayed (across a weekend in June 2024), I got excellent and quiet nights even with the window open (it was hot). Yes, some of the overall decor is dated and even a bit scruffy, but this is part of the budget package. Fancier hotels in Oxford are very expensive, and many travellers don't want to pay for that. The room itself was actually pretty modern, and perfectly pleasant. In terms of other negatives I've seen pop up in reviews: room was clean, staff were friendly, and wi-fi was fast and reliable. I had the free continental breakfast two mornings, and it was nice (especially when sat out in the garden) and I paid extra one morning for the cooked breakfast which was tasty, and preferable to cooked items sitting on a hot-plate. This hotel is next to the train station so you will hear and see the trains from your window. There are steep stairs and no lift so I would recommend not bringing any big or heavy luggage. The breakfast is just toast, cereal (only Kellogs products), yogurt, fruit and juice (coffee and tea of course), but if you want anything hot you have to pay extra (for example, Heinz beans on toast will cost you about $5; if you want eggs with bacon and sausage be prepared to pay about $13). It is located on a very busy street and there will be a constant stream of people walking by all day. It is about a fifteen minute walk to the Westgate shopping center on the south end of town, and another fifteen minutes to the central part of town (such as the covered market). It seemed quite expensive for the type of room you get, but Oxford is an expensive city to begin with. Parking is available acrossthe street for about $16 a day.

Place is not worth the money we paid that’s for sure.

Overpriced hotel. We were told not to leave our laptop in our room so had to carry all valuables all day at Oxford with a back pack. The staff that made breakfast was on vacation so no eggs, bacon etc. The beds were uncomfortable and the room was not clean.

Great hotel with excellent location to the city of Oxford. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the beds comfortable. We stayed in the annexe with a shared bathroom but this was absolutely fine. I loved sitting in the garden area and the whole hotel had a nice homely feel to it. The continental breakfast is included in the room price but for a little extra you can order hot food. This always came really promptly and was freshly cooked. I will definitely stay here again when I next visit Oxford. My kids loved it too.

My first stay at the Westgate Hotel was frustrating because of the construction work next to the hotel.
