Cotswold House

Look, it’s an old house. We knew that when booking. Now the biggest gripe we had was the temperature of the room. Understand that there’s a heat wave in Europe at the moment but the 3 of us in one room with one fan made our stay unbearable. Even if there were more fans, you’re just blowing hot air everywhere. Europe doesn’t have much AC partially because historically it hasn’t been necessary for the short amount of heat waves annually. There may be regulations as well, I’m not certain but I am certain that the world/weather is rapidly changing. Heating up! I don’t see us reversing that trend soon because we rely so heavily on fossil fuels. Having said all that, a solution needs to be figured out because I would not return without one.

Brilliant one night stay to see a show at the New Theatre. Clean and comfortable room and bathroom with a really nice continental breakfast the next morning - the option of boiled eggs and toast was spot on. Brilliant location with plenty of weekend street parking on nearby roads and on a main bus route into city centre. We actually walked back in around 40 minutes later in the evening to stretch our legs - easy, walk. Friendly manager and lovely lady doing breakfast in the morning. Will use again next time we visit.

Mark and the breakfast staff provided excellent service. They were extremely helpful and accommodated our request to park the following day. Thank you for your outstanding hospitality.

The place was clean enough and the staff were friendly but it was let down by really awful decor (I don’t think it’s had a makeover in about 40 years). The shower in our room was broken. And the window almost fell out when my wife opened it. The breakfast was said to be continental’ but consisted of fruit juice from concentrate, instant coffee, cereal, toast and a boiled egg if you wanted one. There was some fruit and yoghurt but this is not what I consider to be continental. For £270 for two nights I think it was poor value.

The hotel was really great. Mark was an amazing host and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable. The only minor downside was that the toilet flush and shower pressure were a bit weak. The continental breakfast was delicious, and we really enjoyed it each morning. Quite easy to go to the city center as there is a bus stop nearby. We would definitely stay here again.
