Wood fireplace with simple gas lighter, made it cozy and comfortable. Room was clean and comfy, but plain (other than the fireplace). Hot tub outside was really nice.

Parking was easy and the room was clean. This was a 1-night stay.

My partner and I made a last-minute decision to stay in Pacific Grove after a long bike ride on a chilly day. We were greeted by such warmth from the receptionist. The fireplace in the reception area, as well as in our room and the perfect hot tub soothed our tired bodies. A popcorn popper with little bags of popcorn was a delightful surprise.We look forward to many more visits to this quaint and charming place

Pacific Gardens Inn was lovely! We had plenty of room in the family suite, and it was nice to have the kitchenette. The make-your-own waffle breakfast was fun, and the happy hour wine was a nice touch as well. We enjoyed using the hot tub in the chilly evening. Easy walk/drive to the coastline and also easy drive to Cannery Row and downtown Monterey.

Fabulous location across the street from Asilomar. Super friendly staff, cozy room with fireplace and un crowded hot tub. Wine in the evening, breakfast in the morning, the full package!

Our stay at Pacific Gardens Inn was very nice and relaxing. The setting is beautiful and the ocean is a short hike. It is also a short drive to the Monterey Aquarium. A huge plus for EV owners are the two Charge Point charge stations on the property. We will definitely stay here again.

Amy at the front desk was so cheerful and helpful. Barbecuing on property was a delight. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. One of the best experiences in hotels of this area.

It was a relief to find a property that allowed our dog to stay! The complementary waffle bar at breakfast was a nice touch. Hotel housekeeping was wonderful. Unfortunately, we saw signs that the property is in need of pest control. In our brief stay, we saw ants in the kitchenette, a baby cockroach on my BF’s toothbrush in the bathroom, and small, black insect parts on the sheets that made me fearful of a bedbug situation. The outdated design and decor was not a problem for us, but the insect activity was.

Room was very clean and updated. Will stay here again.

We love this property. It was close to walk to the beach. The staff was great; especially the overnight attendant. Our son got ill and we needed new linens and extra towels and the night desk clerk was so kind about all of it. Clean room and an actual cleaning service that still does daily clean ups of the room! I haven’t seen that in a few years. Definitely will come back.

This was a great place at a great location close to the beach. The suite we had was very large, with a real, wood fired fire place, TV, full kitchen that was nicely equipped.

The workers at the front desk were always very friendly and helpful. The room has plenty of space. I did not use the fireplace, but it looks inviting. The room has a slight campfire smell. Breakfast is good with waffles, packaged oatmeal, pastries, hardboiled eggs and toast. I found the coffee really good. I feel safe here, my room was quiet, and the beach is nearby (walking distance). I would look forward to staying here again.

Stayed for a weeks vacation. Positives: very clean room, staff pleasant and accommodating. Convenient location to Asilomar State Park. Negatives: the rooms are pretty dated and can use an upgrade. Room was a bit on the dark side. Filtered light coming in, but needed light on all the time.

This hotel is one block from Asilomar State Park beach and so much quieter than staying in Monterey itself; and yet a 6-10 minute drive to shopping and dining. And, who doesn't love wine in the lobby daily at 4pm? We highly recommend this property. Oh, and its dog friendly.

great location and spacious suite

This is one of those special hotels. The whole experience is nice. It’s not trying to be upscale, but everything is an upgrade from the budget places on Munras. The fireplaces, the breakfast and happy hour wine, and the short walk to the beach right across the street. Even the basic room is spacious. It feels like you’re in nature, but you’re only a few minutes from Cannery Row. Most of all it’s the staff. When my child had a medical emergency, the staff made me feel cared about. This is my new go-to hotel.

Loved the location. Wonderful hot tub! Charming room. Enjoyed the fireplace. Unfortunately, LIsa needs some education in customer relations. She was rude and unhelpful when I called to try to clear up and understand some confusing e-mails regarding changing our booking from Expedia to one made through Pacific Gardens. She hadn't sent the e-mails and so didn't know about them. Instead of agreeing to check with the colleague who had sent the e-mails, and then get back to me, she refused to acknowledge their existence or any confusion. Therefore, since I was unable to resolve the confusion, I didn't cancel my booking with Expedia and so was unable to take advantage of the savings offered me by another member of the staff if I booked with Pacific Gardens directly. Everything else about our stay was great, and so I plan to stay there again on my next visit to Pacific Grove, so sincerely hope I wont have to deal with LIsa at that time.

The rooms were clean, large and well equipped but the standout was the friendliness of the staff and the extras like free wine in the evening. Thank you Amy, for making us feel at home.

This property is very close to the beach and only a one or two minute drive to get to a gorgeous view of the ocean. The motel room was outdated but nice. I booked through Expedia and my friend booked her second night through the motel. My booking was a little bit on the confusing side because I booked my room and my friends room through Expedia and then we decided to stay a second night so I booked my second night through Expedia separately and she booked her second night through the motel. I understood it would be confusing so I stopped by the Motel the morning of our stay to make our reservations more understandable to the staff. I spoke with a man who I believe is the owner and explained to him the way we booked our rooms and he told me two times that it would be nice to support a small business, and book through them and instead of Expedia.. I let that slide, although I found it a little bit on the offensive side that he had to say it two times instead of just mentioning it once. I took time to make it very clear to him about the reservations my friend and myself had made. Later that evening we went to check in and there was a woman working, who I believe is his wife and also the owner. She seemed drunk off her ass and couldn’t understand our reservation confusion no matter how many times we tried to explain it to her. She also mentioned no less than six times how we should support their small business instead of going through Expedia. There’s more but no room to comment.

The water in the shower is hot the second you turn it on. The breakfast is tasty with a wider variety of foods than is often offered at a "breakfast included" hotel. They have popcorn makers in the rooms and wine in the lobby after 5 - what more could you want? They also allow dogs. You can walk to the beach from the hotel, or walk up the street to eat at Fishwife, which is delicious. This will be where we stay any time we return from now on.

Unfortunately, for two nights, there was excessive noise (loud discussions, music and singing) from a group of people that were staying at the adjacent property until 1am in the morning. The property manager said there was nothing she could do about it and it wasn't her problem.

I love the location, ease of parking and the breakfast. It's a quiet area, and the beach is a walkable distance. All in all, it's a favorite place of mine to stay!

Perfect location for beach walking, spacious room well equipped, I love the fireplace especially in the holiday season, friendly staff, nice breakfast. Couldn’t be a better choice in Monterey.

The area was perfect. Close to the beach and 17 Mile. Nice and quiet. The room was updated from the pictures which was a nice surprise. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Bed was very comfortable. I will definitely be staying again anytime we're in the area!

Breakfast was marginal. Seemed to focus on DYI waffles. The only fruit was bananas. There was no juice and the room was freezing!

A quick walk to asilomar beach, very dog friendly. Mutt mitts for dog clean up. Fresh waffles every morning with coffee was a good thing to not worry about. Nice selection of pastries as well to start your morning. They did wine in the evenings. Wifi worked. Having the fireplace in the room was a nice way to warm up the room.

The structure was old and walls thin. The lighting was poor. Lamp over bed blinked on and off. Plumbing was noisey, sounded like a fog horn at times. Breakfast was high calorie and skimpy. The location was close to the beach for walking in the morning. Would not book this lodge again.
