The French Country Inn

This property had a great waterfront balcony with a view. It was quiet when we were there and we enjoyed our stay and would return. The room was spacious and clean. The beds were a little soft but not bad for a couple nights. I was not crazy about the food or drinks at the restaurant. We had pasta dishes and they were just ok for us. The drinks we had were $14 each and really sweet so would probably skip the restaurant next time. The pool was great, it went up to 9ft deep and we enjoyed our time at the pool. The little beach area had kayaks, paddle boards and water bikes for you to use which although we didn’t have time, I loved that they offered this!

The view from the balcony is great and the area is quiet. Parking is a problem. There are not enough spaces outside the rooms so you have to park several blocks from your room if the restaurant is crowded. The rooms share a parking lot with the restaurant. The heater/ air conditioner is extremely loud.

Can’t beat the view! Quiet and relaxing. Older resort- rooms are small. Could use some updating. No dressers for clothes, just a few hangers. Only a small fridge, no microwave. We did not receive maid service daily as advertised- even when our cleaning sign was placed on the door. Had to ask for extra towels and toiletries as needed. Continental breakfast during the week, vouchers for breakfast on weekends. Food and service was hit or miss. Pool was ice cold! No heater. But pool area was clean and well maintained as was the outside of the resort and beach area. Wonderful view from balconies!

A great find for a getaway weekend. As an historical property, it is not your typical resort which makes it all the more special. Eric was most welcoming and it is easy to see that he truly loves his job. The amenities were wonderful - loved the free use of kayaks and paddleboards, and you cannot get any closer to the lake! Appreciated the mini fridge and free bottled water to make coffee. The Getaway restaurant is fabulous and while breakfast was not complimentary on the weekend, it was discounted and worth every penny. Our only recommendations for the Inn would be to make the patios a little more private, and to try to do something about the smelly sink water. Other than that, this place is a gem.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The view was gorgeous and the room was clean and comfortable. We especially liked having a restaurant right there on the property. Dinner was delicious. The only issue we had was that the room air conditioner was very loud which woke us up all night. Highly recommend.

The area was absolutely beautiful!!!! The amenities, not so much. The "spa tub" was not operational. I first noticed there was no bath tub stopper. I alerted the attendant. They said they would try to locate it. They told me they were not able to find one that fit. The next morning i realized that the knob to turn on the jets was painted shut. The beautiful fire place in the room was not operational as well. The view was amazing and the restaurant and bar being 20 feet away was perfect. Great little get away minus the amenities not being functional.

Quaint Quiet on the weekdays and saltwater pool!

We enjoyed the view from the balcony directly on lake. We used kayaks and stand up paddle board. Nice areas to walk around the inn.

In a word, disappointing. I mean at every level. Carpets, fireplace, bathroom etc all require replacement. All artwork removed from room yet left the holes, requires painting throughout, carpet badly stained, entire place had to be aired out due to heavy ammonia cleaning products used, etc. Then the bar and restaurant were off limits due to a private function. Finally, breakfast was NOT included, but a voucher for $10, insufficient for any breakfast.

Eric was great at ck in. R room was disgusting. Dead bugs on ceilings, curtains were filthy, room needs new carpet, my socks were black. Needs painted. The decks need painted. Definitely needs updated. R bathtub faucet dripped non stop. Light bulb in ceiling fan kept flickering. The ac unit sounded like a train, so loud. I was quite disappointed traveling so far. Due to holiday weekend we were stuck there. Couldn't even sit on ur porch, no divider to have privacy. The trim on wall was coming off. Headboard was broken

After traveling 12 days straight and staying at 9 different hotels, B&B’s and Inns, this was by far the worst value for the money than any of the others. The bathroom was gross.

Looked charming and then walked into our room . Carpet was filthy and lifting up . Room needed to be deep cleaned , bedding was falling apart . Rattan loveseat was old, dirty and uncomfortable. Went down at 8am for “continental breakfast “ nothing was set up . We ended up leaving one night early because it was such a disappointment.we lost over $300 but, at that point we just wanted to leave . Was hoping for a lovely little stay and the accommodations were old and dirty

The location is great on the lake and the place looks nice. However, there were some issues we weren't happy with. The patio door wouldn't look so we barricaded it with the table. The doors were all very squeaky. There was a dirty towel from the previous guest hanging in the bathroom. A big dead bug in the bathtub. The 'breakfast' was yogurt and fruit.

This property is an old motel that they are remodeling into a cute, more modern lake spot. We got one of the old rooms that had not been remodeled. The air conditioner was extremely loud and would turn off and on. The balcony is a communal balcony that you share with all your neighbors (not ideal). And the water spits out at you due to the inconsistent water pressure. But the worst part was that we had small bugs on our room. We asked to be moved to another room which the staff resisted at first but finally moved us. Our second room was remodeled and much nicer and no bugs!! Overall, it was not even close to worth the $550 a night we paid.

The property was beautiful and the view off the balcony was amazing. The rooms are very outdated. It wasn't "dirty" but old and in need of refreshing. The walls had old nail holes from pictures everywhere, the walls were dingy, the shower curtain was all yellowed from the hard water and the tub had chips all over the inside. The carpet was stained and all through I know the linens were clean, the comforter had blood stains at the bottom that I didn't see until the day I checked out.

there were bugs all in our room and the office closes at 8 pm so I had to leave a message, we left at 9 that night we did not stay and nobody called me back to return my voicemail, I had to call again the following Monday.

Nice, quiet, scenic, resort. Clean and kept up. Room amenities menities starting to show age. Still a nice stay.

Decided to try this place out. It definitely has potential and a great location. But it’s old and dated. They definitely need to do some updates. Beds were too soft and so were the pillows. It was hard to maintain the temp in the room. It’s loud. You can hear everything and everyone one. The restaurant is amazing! Very good food and service! Lots of lake view tables!

We were attending a wedding at Geneva National, so it was very convenient. But particularly for the whopping $650 we paid, it was VERY underwhelming. Pretty old, and the smoke alarm went off when using a hair straightener! Ceiling fan was very rickety, noisy all night but needed because it was quite hot. Pictures are a bit deceiving, this is not a luxury property.

The location on the lake is beautiful, but the room was very dated and in need of renovation.

My husband and I only spent one night but we had a really nice visit the kindness and friendliness of all staff was refreshing!! Will definitely be back!

Very historical place, there are remodeling and doing a great job, very clean, everything you need right on the property. The manager Eric, is very nice and accommodating. The restaurant on site has very good food and the service is excellent to hidden gem

The stafff were very accommodating when there was something wrong with our room. The view was great.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked again for 2 weeks from now! Lovely views and fabulous service! Eric and his team go out of their way to make your stay special!

The staff was very nice and welcoming. The room as very nice and love the porch looking out to the lake. Looking forward to returning soon.

Beautiful place right on the lake , perfect sunset and Eric at front desk was very polite and pleasant. Would recommend the place for quite get away.

Room was very dated and lots of things broken or old. Does not appear this way in pictures, very deceiving. Also, the pool was taken over by the entire family of one of the staff…very uncomfortable situation. Wound up leaving a day early. Tried calling and e-mailing management. Never got a response. I would definitely stay away from this place. Especially for the money they charge. It’s absurd. I would give it zero stars

The views are great in this historic Inn. Layed back but still classy. Away from the crowds but great dining that adds some fun. Could use a few room convinces and amenities like a working coffee and micro.

Location was nice, but property did seem a bit dated. My wife and I were under impression that it would be a hot sit down breakfast. Instead their was a baggie for fruit yogurt, liquids to take. Being Friday, most places close too early- 10PM including the onsite restaurant.

Warning to anyone wanting to book this property on Expedia! We paid an average of $550/night, and Expedia only paid the hotel $319/night! It might not have hurt as badly if we had had a better experience. Everywhere you go, you see things in disrepair. Paint chipping on the outside railings, on the steps and on the furniture in the room. Worn-out rug in front of the main entrance. Both lampshades in our room had holes in them. The screen door barely closed and needed to be replaced. The air conditioner was extremely loud. The floor of the restaurant was filthy, and I had to ask for some napkins to clean off the spider webs next to our table on the balcony. Plus the service was poor.The Expedia listing said we got free breakfast. All we got was $10 vouchers for the first day which barely covered half of the cost of breakfast. We never got our room cleaned because apparently you have to put a sign out which we were not told about. We were later told this was because of the COVID pandemic which,BTW, officially ended more than two years ago! When I called at 3:30 asking to have the room serviced they said the maids left at 4:00, but still never sent anyone to clean the room. I will say the location is great and the view of Lake Como from the room was beautiful, but not worth it at any price. When I spoke to the manager after our stay, he was pleasant and very apologetic, but the best he could offer would be a free one-night stay. And WHY would we possibly want to go back??
