After paying received 6 emails stating there was no bar, kitchen, restaurant, and breakfast would be served in the foyer and eaten elsewhere. Room 334. Ancient bed divan even older mattress, dirty floor with hair, fluff and cotton buds. Loo seat wrong size and shape. We complained after two almost sleepless nights a received a twin bed room. Better bed better sleep. Parking was £14 per 24 hours.

The most astounding aspect was the bundles of energy who dealt with welcoming me to breakfast. So positive - it was impossible not to smile. The breakfast itself was good. More generally, staff attitude could not be more friendly. The room was very comfortable and quiet. I would have liked a bat, but the shower is very good. I have stayed here previously (not sure under the current brand name) - if you do have a room close to the lifts, you do get night time noise. The car parking facilities are tight - I have an SUV (and therefore I probably deserve any resulting problems) and the parking bays are small. My main take aways from this hotel is good location, nice rooms but mostly great staff attitude.

Overall very nice stay. Couple of issues… car parking not well advertised ended up paying £21.50 when could of paid £14 at hotel if the car park was better signposted. Lovely tea/coffee/biscuits etc let down by 4 UHT milks!! And yes you can ask for more but who wants to get dressed to go and ask for more milk in the morning. There is a fridge in room so why not have a little bottle of fresh milk??

Unaware until we arrived that the hotel restaurant was closed , if we knew we wouldn't have booked , the whole place could do with a makeover if im honest. Wont be back. £17 to park the car for the night.

The hotel is very well located for anyone wanting to explore central Newcastle on foot. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well laid out and spacious enough. It is located just far enough away from busy streets to be quiet at night. Would not hesitate to stay here again on another visit to Newcastle.

We paid a lot of money for our 2 night at the Hotel and we were not impressed. For a start they gave us a room with 2 singles beds when i had booked a King size. Room was not clean. The safe and TV had chewing gum on them. After 5 times of complaining nothing was done. It was not until last moment that something was done. The room was not cleaned properly. Would not recommend this hotel and we will be writing to Head Office with a formal complaint.

Room 337 was very quite. Room 339 was very noisy with air conditionning noise during the night, despite it was off. Shower of room 337 was not very clean (black molds at various locations). Breakfast very good (top quality yogourt, good croissant, orange juice used to be far better but new one orange juice just normal, fruits, english breafast top chef) . Sealing of room door just not existing thus noise from corridor in the room.

Bathroom was dirty with mold and a clogged drain in the shower, grout and flooring was worn out and dirty. Curtains worn and dirty, furniture was worn and chipped. Baseboards and doors dirty and needed paint. The staff was extremely helpful and kind the hotel needs remodel. The towel warming rack was broken and one of the lamps didn’t work and the ventilation system didn’t work in the bathroom. Need a much better entrance for people of age or disabled as the stairs are steep and slippery with rain.

Staff were so lovely and hospitable 10/10 for them. However, We were Disappointed we paid £100 per night and the beds were 2 singles pushed together on wheels, even though I selected “king size bed’ option, they moved around every time we got on & multiple times through the night from the slightest movement. The Woden flooring and the gap under the door meant you heard everything from the hallway - especially the echoing banging of closing doors. We heard good things about the refurbished rooms but we stayed on the first floor.missing covers on the shower dials and a really dusty wardrobe I had to wipe down myself before storing clothes. The floors seemed to have not been hoovered or mopped as our feet got covered in dusts when we took our shoes and socks off. The hotel is an idea location and good base but the room quality and beds made the stay feel not worth the money.

Room looked nice enough although check in took a while as they weren’t sure what rooms were free, bathroom had towel rail hanging off a looked very tired an in need of an upgrade. The most annoying was that we booked a king room an it was 2 single beds pushed together and they were not fixed so when you rolled over in the night they slid apart which was a nightmare….

FOOD WAS GOOD AND FRESH. ALAS THE ROOM -WHICH HAD A BALCONY AT AN EXTRA CHARGE WAS COLD AND DRAUGHTY -THE HEATING TURNED UP DID NOT HELP; THE DRAUGHT WAS NOISY. THE LOCAL DISCOS PENETRATED THE WINDOW/ BAL;CONY TOO.

The room. Clean, spacious, great location, lovely staff, recently refurbed, large comfy bed, large bathroom, good soundproofing for outiside noise, a lightly stocked mini fridge that actually works, nice sized bar/lobby, large private balcony (room upgrade), safe, good toiletetries, hairdrier, large smart tv with apps, on site parking, close to train station, towels replaced for 2nd night. Cons: loud inside room (air con thru the night comes on every half or or so even when its turned off at the controller), pillows are the worst iv ever had in a hotel, noise from corridors and lift is constant, were not provided furniture for our balcony which was the whole point of paying extra, we noticed smaller less expensive rooms had funiture, check in was delayed 20 mins again not great for paying almost £300 for a 2 night stay, selection of draft beers at bar was poor and pricey and finally maids were in at some point to change out towels, we didnt request this and personally not keen on people being in my room throughout my stay when im not present (previous bad expereinces). All in all id give this hotel 7/10. It is a lovely hotel in a great location and would be ideal for a night or 2, but id definitely recommend not paying extra for an upgrade as it doesnt feel like one. If i had booked a standard room id feel i had got more for my money. Definately clean, spacious and somewhere id stay again, but i know i sleep better in a premier inn. Didnt eat here so cant comment.

We'd booked a balcony room and it was a nice big room and spotlessly clean. Fast WiFi and nice new TV with apps. Some parts of the room were looking a bit tired - floor near balcony door seemed to have had water damage. The balcony gave a nice view over Newcastle. Small balcony critisms though - the balcony has no privacy, with just a small glass wall between other rooms with balconys. Also, the outer wall on our balcony was a bit damaged. We'd definitely stay here again, just maybe not go for a balcony room next time.

Overall a good experience, but small things could have been done to enhance the experience. Opening the window was a bit noisy (not the hotel's fault), but the air conditioning was a also noisy and only went down to 18 degrees. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were a bit lumpy. The green glow from the emergency light was very intrusive - many people like a dark room, and this was not possible.

Check in was not good at all and had to come down twice as key card wouldn’t open my door and waited ages for a lift each time and no apology whatsoever and literally thrown at me across the counter Eventually got into the room and went to toilet and there was fluid around the toilet seat and pubic hair on the floor and it smelt musty and I almost vomited Hence I didn’t sit on seat and went out to the toilet I went for a shower later and the water from it was firstly freezing and then intermittently burnt me then freezing again and the pressure was like a trickle of water so a complete waste of time and couldn’t wait to get out The heating in the room didn’t work and it was boiling and the floors were manky dirty and I felt itchy when I left the next day Not what I expected for £160 a night and felt totally ripped off and angry Made my point clear but they were disinterested and another customer left thank goodness was the way I felt I would like compensation for this as I had to move hotel and it wrecked my evening and next morning and couldn’t wait to leave the hostel!! Can you sort this and reply asap and I will Never stay in another IHG Hotel and would tell all to avoid it if they could Regards David R Reid

First time using this hotel. I usually always stay at the Maldron but they were full, so thought I’d give this one, given the price I expected good things. Check in was easy and the receptionist was nice. Unfortunately the rest was very disappointing. The aircon in the room is either very old and ineffective or broken. I called reception and simply requested as fan, the receptionist said she would have housekeeping bring me on, this never materialised. The lady behind the bar was on her phone while I had to wait to be served. I had booked 2 nights at over £270, it was simply to hot so I left after one night. Oh, and I paid £10 extra for a late check out which I obviously didn’t even use. I also called when on route and asked about discounted parking, I was told there wasn’t any, on arrival I paid £35 for 2 days parking in their car park, only to be told by the receptionist when checking in that she could have saved me money on this with a discount?! Overall, a complete waste of money. It seems either the management haven’t trained their staff to the expected level for this price point hotel, or that the staff simply don’t care. I don’t expect the management will bother to even call me to dicusss my disappointment, given mu experience during my very short and very very overpriced stay. The Maldron hotel is far better value and experience of the Malmaison for a similar cost is simply far superior. So very disappointed.

This hotel employs the friendliest staff I have ever come across. Every single colleague was helpful, cheerful, attentive and seemed to be in a good mood. They all seemed to get on well with each other too. There was just such a warmth to the place. Would highly recommend.

The location of this Hotel is perfect and easy to get to and park. We spent a couple of days here to watch England play in the euro final and had a great time. The first days breakfast however was not good. The Chef on duty over cooked the egg, black pudding and the bacon was worst than leather. The service was also very poor, my wife asked for brown sauce (twice), it arrived after she finished her meal, and I asked for a second coffee and am still waiting. The second day was much better, but it does appear that the staff operate in a haphazard way, ie there is no continuity.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was very modern in good condition and was in a good central position for town, the quay area and walking distance to the Utilitia Arena which was our main reason for visit. We had breakfast in the room the first morning which arrived on time and as ordered with no extra charge. The buffet breakfast restaurant was fine with the hot food cooked to order. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Only 2 minor criticisms were our room seem set up for disability access which we didn’t need which was fine apart from it was a wet room not proper shower cubicle meaning the bathroom got soaked whilst having a shower? Also the shower was very powerful but sadly lukewarm only. However overall we enjoyed our stay and would use the hotel again if returning to Newcastle.

The hotel is lovely and the check in was easy and we got a free upgrade to a king balcony not that we used the balcony, my big complaint and apparently plenty of other guests had the same complaint was the wait for breakfast, from ordering to served approx 35 minutes and may have been longer if we didn’t ask a waitress to check, they also brought out the wrong drinks twice we initially only got 1 pot of tea rather than 2 and then we were served tea when we asked for coffee. Sort out the breakfast issues it a big part of the point scoring for your guests and if you cannot get this right then the guests will not return especially as you have advertised the new eating experience as a great thing.

Nice hotel, reasonably sized room, good shower. Unfortunately the bed was very hard which impacted our sleep quality. The hotel is located near Central Station & close to lots of pubs & restaurants. We didn't have breakfast as it was very expensive, we went to another hotel nearby, a chain known for their walk-in all you can eat breakfast.
