Friendly helpful staff. Parking valet only in a very tight garage. Very steep entryway to garage. Uneven street undergoing repaving. Difficult to exit garage enter street without hitting inferior surface of vehicle.

Parking is valet only and very tight to get in to during busy hours. Bed was a little stiff for our preference but I'm sure it's great for most. Would stay again for an overnight but probably not for extended stays.

Reviews made me worried about the valet parking but it was easy. $30 separate fee which you can charge. Room was spacious and clean. Easy walking to areas around Pitt.

We liked the valet parking, in room refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave wave. We missed the individual bathroom amenities, including the shower cap-all precovid amenities. Only the bar/ grill was open with a not very interesting menu to us. Sam, an excellent server, was doing everything by herself.

Great location; excellent service. Hotel had a restaurant but it would have been nice to have free lobby coffee. Also, I would have had a nightcap at the bar but it was lit up like a Christmas tree. No one wants to sit at a bar under a spotlight.

Stayed one evening on January 6th. Staff was courteous and helpful. Rooms are average. No streaming television. Just basic cable. Is this 1999? No option to purchase a movie. Which was a bummer for a rainy Saturday evening. Valet parking is the only parking option at $30 unless you want to walk a few blocks and get lucky with a spot on the street. And no free or included continental breakfast. $15 for breakfast. Overall, good staff, good service, average clean room. Only basic cable and only valet parking

There is a strong unpleasant odor coming off the lobby. The hotel is old and moldy. The sheets on the bed are old and used up. Not something you'd even pass down to a homeless. I left 5 minutes after I walked in. I got sick being there just for 5 mns.

I booked this room due to my father having a major surgery at UPMC Presbyterian. It is very close and convenient to the hospital. It was also a bonus that there was a restaurant and bar within the hotel. There were no free self park options at the hotel, but that was not unexpected for the location. The only reason I do not give 5 stars is due to cleanliness. In no way an I saying the hotel was dirty, but it was what I describe as "dingy". It could have been much cleaner. The floors were not completely clean, the table had obviously not been wiped down recently, the chair had suspicious white spots on it (never good in a hotel), and some of the fixtures had obviously not been wiped down in some time. While it wasn't perfect, it wasn't bad enough that I wouldn't stay again. The most pleasantly surprising part was the restaurant and bar inside the hotel. After a long day at the hospital, I did not feel like going out to eat and did not have high expectations from the restaurant. However, my food was excellent and so was my service. Even though there was only one waitress working, she was excellent and so was the food.

The room was spotless clean and nicely decorated. Comfortable mattress and bedding. Front desk staff were very polite. As well as the valet service. The hotel was decorated festively for autumn. The hotel was a short walking distance to the University of Pittsburgh arena, where we went to see a concert. There are a lot of food venues nearby. Price was great. Can’t go wrong when staying at a Hilton hotel!

Clean comfortable hotel conveniently located near UPMC hospitals. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean with nice amenities except for the pillows. While they look nice and fluffy, the second you put your head on them they turn into flat pancakes. The parking price is also a little steep—$35 for one night is a lot especially when the cost of the room is also high. Overall it is a great place to stay if you need to be at one of the hospitals early in the morning.

do not know where to start ..had to get new room keys 4 times did not work ,,and they were no where near a phone .on upper floors ,pain to keep taking elevator back and forth .The suite had not been updated since 1975 ,rugs ,furniture ,.The lamps had no switches ,but a button that one hand had to hold lamp to put on.Lighting, especially bathroom ,was dark. No soundproofing ,heard police ,ambulances all night .

Nice hotel. Double queen room was tight. Breakfast buffet was very basic for $17per person. I opted for a cooked to order egg sandwich. All the service people were very friendly and helpful. I just felt like the room was a little small and the whole place needed some freshening up. Location near campus was ideal

Made a reservation for my daughter who is 20yrs old. The property refused to honor the reservation due to minimum age requirement of 21. This is never mentioned in expedia rules and restrictions. It was later than 10pm at night and my daughter was basically turned away with no place to go. We called and vouched for her with the front desk but they refused. We offered to have another adult go to the hotel and check her in. They still refused. They also refused to help her in anyway. Even the hotel's own website allows a reservation to proceed with no mention of age restriction.

Terrible experience. We were not able to use the reservation as the front desk refused to check in my daughter who’s 19. We called the hotel before booking to inquire about the age restriction and were reassured that 19 year old would be able to check in. She had to travel back to the college a day before the dorm opened because of the anticipated snow storm the next day. And there she was, at 10pm, two suitcases, being kicked out to the street despite having a reservation that was fully paid for. The ignorance of the hotel staff is beyond belief.

The older bald man at the counter is rude and lazy. I also reported that the couple next to our room were fighting all night and banging on walls and yelling. Was not able to sleep all night, felt unsafe, called the desk and they told me that someone would go and check on it. No one ever did, I was also told that I would get a small credit on my room, never saw that credit. For this hotel to be a Hilton I expected a better stay. I have always stayed at more affordable hotels with better service. This is the first time that I stayed at a Hilton . Will never stay in one again . Sadly yo say that one person ruins it for all. You should not have someone working there is that unhappy to be there. The bartenders at the bar were also rude and didn’t look happy to be there.

We had a great stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh University Place. Rooms were clean, staff were available and helpful. Walkable to many cheap restaurants, to the Carnegie museums, Phipps Conservatory, the Nationality rooms. Would recommend.

The staff went over and above, they were the best! However, we had a number of issues, from our phone not working & couldn’t be fixed. The hotel keys often did not work. The door knob had to be fixed. The tub drain was a problem eventually got fixed and we were not told that housekeeping was every other day and they never even gave us a new soap. the garbage would pile up in the waste basket. When you enter the hotel with suitcases, you have to walk up two short steps of stairs we were senior citizens and no one even helped us. Unfortunately even though I’m Hilton Honors, I would never recommend staying here

I guess I cannot fault the front desk employee for attempting to charge me an absurd $30 for checking in at 2:48 pm instrad of 3 p.m. because she appeared embarrassed to ell me about the "early check in fee." I was pretty upset because staying at the hotel was a last minute decision compelled by the fact that my dad had just suffered a stroke and i needed to get to Pittsburgh fast to be with him at a hospital by the hotel. Hearing about the fee was a bridge too far that day and i couldnt help but cry. The fee was waived and the hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff was polite. But i still cant believe that this was how i was greeted and the timing was terrible.

Stay was great. Parking behind the hotel was good for the price. Room was clean. Pillows were a little squishy. But I just prefer a firmer pillow. All was great. Had the buffet breakfast and it was tasty. A little pricey for $17 per person, but we ate enough and it tasted good so worth the cost.

Breakfast was awful. We were told by 2 staff members when we checked in that open menu Breakfast would be avalanche until 10 a m . We waited until 9:30 to go down. There was a sign there that said open menu was available until 10 a.m. we tried to order and were told by staff that closed at 9:30. Food was cold, had to ask to have table cleaned, coffee was not good.

The front desk clerks were all extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. I added breakfast to my room and it was hot and delicious and included a fruit bar, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and sausage and bacon, a toaster, muffins and sausage gravy.

My daughter and I stayed because she was at a conference at the University of Pittsburgh. Location was just a few blocks from campus so walking was quite easy. The hotel was clean and the employees we dealt with were polite. I did order waffles for breakfast and after a few minutes the waitress came back to the table and relayed that the waffle maker didn't work. I guess they only had one in the kitchen. Overall, it was a good stay.

Hotel is nice. Employees are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was very quiet. After walking quite a distance for food, I use a walker, I decided to eat at the hotel restaurant. While the food was good it was a bit pricey. I wish they would have had a shuttle to the neighboring hospitals. That would have been great. But it was a great choice in hotels near the hospital.

Staff were great, from valets to front desk to restaurant. Great location a little east of downtown near Pitt, with lots of restaurants in easy walking distance. I was pleasantly surprised by the good food quality at the modest restaurant onsite. Very nice for an affordable stay.

We loved every aspect of our trip. The hotel was clean, the rooms were well appointed, there was a bar on the promises that we utilized. They provide breakfast, but at $15.50, I wish they would have prepared breakfast omelettes. Seems like Covid has stolen that from us. I’m used to Hilton Gardens Inns where they actually cook breakfast. Had I known the kitchen was not being used, I would’ve gotten breakfast elsewhere.
