Roman Spa Resort

The mineral pools are very clean, crystal clear. So soothing. Nice beds. Rooms very clean. All staff very nice, helpful

Still love the pools but the constant construction noise that started at 7:30am and went until 6 pm was horrible! The staff weren’t helpful. There were more little signs saying why stuff was incomplete or unfinished. Then on top of that little notes about where this or that goes…. We’ve been going there 50 years! No recognition of that even when you mention it. We’ll never go again! Overprices of course! So so sad…..

Overall, this property was a bit dated and did remind us of a Best Western Motor Lodge circa 1975-1976. Having said that, however, this property was extremely clean and well maintained. All of the common areas were very well tended to and the landscaping was very good. Our room was spotless and the two larger mineral springs pools and the hot tub were really clean. The front desk was courteous and even allowed up to check in about 45 minutes early because our room was ready. If you are thinking of visiting this property, the main attraction is the hot spring pools, which were excellent. As other reviewers have pointed out, the Roman Spa Resort is only one block away from the main street in Calistoga and only about two blocks from a very decent grocery store. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, but if I were asked at check out to put a fair price on our stay/experience, I would have told them about half of what we paid. In other words, this resort was unbelievably expensive for what it was and what it had to offer, but since it was a last second decision by us, we didn't have too many choices. If we were to visit Calistoga again, I would likely look for another option given the dated feeling of the property and the price tag.

While the buildings and rooms are a bit dated, Roman Spa staff were friendly and helpful, could walk to everything in town from the hotel, had amazing foot massages at the spa, pools were clean and heated, room was clean as can be with a kitchen that had everything needed to cook or to store leftovers from restaurants. The grounds were lovely and well maintained. We would absolutely stay here again.

Enjoyed the thermal water. Only comment is the minerals on the edges of the pools. The water was clear but it would look better with the deposits removed from the pools.

Going to a Hot Springs Spa with cold pools makes me wonder why they didn’t offer a free return visit in the future? They offered late check out to use their cold pools? They offered a 30% off coupon but couldn’t even deliver that as we checked out.

The location was good, walking distance from the main street. Lots of flowers and good thermal swimming pool. The only bad thing is that the buildings have a very poor insulations and you can hear the people talk on the floor below.

You will know because the windows are so thin you'll hear them setting up. But is in a fantastic small town.

Very outdated property

Comfy beds, small full kitchen with large fridge, air conditioning, and lots of outside tables and chairs to relax in.

The property looked lovely. The staff was very polite. My shower plumbing was horrific there was a piercing whinning sound the entire time i had the shower on every time. My room was 167.

Basically, a 1970s style motel with an in-wall AC unit. not worth the $300 per night price.

All in all we enjoyed to room and the resort AC was week Auto shutoff kept the room from cooling off Pillows are hard. Would suggest more in the closet

A friendly, comfortable place whose pools are kept to a very high and satisfying standards. Staff seemed happy to work there.

We arrived at the property ~1:10PM. We acknowledged that check-in time is 3PM, and asked the front desk if our room might be available even though we were a couple of hours early. The front desk clerk told us that the room was clean and available, but that we would have to pay a $30 fee to move in earlier than check-in. The clerk was polite, knowledgeable, and efficient -- he was simply conveying to us what the house rules are. We felt gouged by the request to pay $30 dollars for simply moving in early -- something that does not cost the property anything. Totally ungracious on the part of the Roman Spa, shamefully nickel and diming customers .

I was in a walker and they did not have an ADA room available for me. They did move me to the first floor. The room was crowded so it made it hard to move around. The spas are very nice. It was not crowded in December.

this was centrally located so we could walk everwhere we wanted to go or just relax in the wonderful pools. very tranquil

The grounds are a beautifully well thought out selection of lovely plantings that are very well cared for. They enhance the stay at this quiet spot. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms very comfortable.
