The Fredonia Hotel

Cabana room is perfect! Patio access to the pool, short walk to the green space which has another pool and giant movie screen. Love this hotel every year we visit family in Nacogdoches.

The Fredonia Hotel was nice. At 9:00 pm, there were no parking spots. I was told that there were empty parking spaces at the church. What church? We are in our late 70’s. My husband has a hip injury, and they said they could not help. It is now 10:00 pm. Oh, outside a band was playing at the pool, we could make out the words the singer was saying. It went on until 11:00 pm. Maybe inquire if there will be a parking space available for you, and if a band is playing. Room was very nice, but it was stressful.

The hotel was very clean and the room was cozy. The pool is just tiny and a bit crowded.

Hotel and rooms very nice. However the presence of an event center created problems. Wedding participants took all luggage carts to their rooms and didn't return them. We had to carry our luggage (with help from a hotel employee) to our room. We also were subjected to loud music for most of the evening. Parking was also very difficult. Avoid Sat. nights.

The stay was awful. We were in a room directly outside the pool. The pool was completely packed with people getting drunk and not watching their kids. You couldn’t even use the amenities because it wasn’t safe because of all the drunk people. We had to wake up early and couldn’t go to sleep until after midnight because it was so loud outside of the room. There was no parking. There was trucks taking up two spaces. Way over priced.

Check in was a breeze. This place has two pools that are great. Just a great place to stay.

Food was great and so was the room. Pool water was dark and green and dirty.

Nice staff. Interesting property. Hearted pool and huge movie screen and outdoor fireplace was very enjoyable.

There was a sewage smell in our room after we returned from an event.

Cafe and cafe staff were great, room had a burning plastic smell they said was normal and that it was the back of the blackout drapes heating from the sun.

Love the cleanliness of the rooms, hotel grounds, and pools. Proximity to SFA is a huge plus for us. Staff were courteous and polite.

A unique hotel very vintage and the property was super clean.

I understand these things happen but walked into the room and there was a roach strolling around. Not the best impression. Otherwise hotel looked good. Would I stay again? I don’t know.

It’s very clean.

Cureent bathrooms have very slick tile and open design that still leaves me feeling cramped but also worried about splashing water out side of shower. Did not clean room while i was out for the day or make beds. Also stairwell fire doors did not latch, whoch may be a safety hazard.

Food was great and so was the room. Pool water was dark and green and dirty.

It’s been redone quite well and the restaurants were good. The back pool was quite loud and the room was a little musty but enjoyed our stay

Very nice hotel but rooms were extremely small due to the age of the hotel.

It’s a lovely property that has been significantly updated, including a nice bar with screens, a very nice and large restaurant, and a lovely outdoor pool area (it was chilly and raining so no swimming and sunning for us). Our room was clean and updated, but incredibly small and it was somewhat difficult and inconvenient for the two of us to move around. Very small closet space, no sitting desk top, a tiny bathroom that was modern but missing on a few details. We were not aware, or missed, that the space was this small (the lowest cost room at $200 per night) and, in hindsight, an upgrade would have been a good idea. If you are coming as a single guest and will be spending little time in your room … I suppose it would be mostly fine. Otherwise, upgrade to a bit more space. Staff was very polite, efficient, and helpful. Parking is free and abundant outside and around the property. Walkable to the “downtown” area (a few blocks) as well as to the university campus (about a mile) which is in a very nice east Texas setting. SFU also contains an arboretum and azalea garden (they are blooming all around in Late March). Fredonia is an asset to Nac and if you are OK to spend a little more than the chain/budget hotel experience you’ll have a nice time here and be pleased overall with the experience (ref above re upgrade for space).

Cons: Very small room for double Queen beds. Small Bathroom was disappointing. Had mini fridge, plus a coffee machine but it had a note to move to another plug for use, and no microwave. Noisy even from 5th floor. Did not equal the value For $320 for 1 night The pros: dog friendly in 1 part of hotel, great location to SFA, and good restaurant and bar.

The only hotel in Nacogdoches where you can explore downtown on foot. Because it’s an older , historic hotel the rooms can be smaller than new hotels with the same star rating.

Room next door where noisy

A/c wasn’t very good.

The room is tiny, but immaculate. A beautiful update to a classic hotel.

Eveything was great, except room was small.

The AC in the room was noisy and cycled off and on all night. As a light sleeper, this made sleeping difficult. The shower was nice, but no soap made for a hollow experience. I think the downstairs bartender thought I was going to walk on my drinks; awkward. All in all I was ready to leave when the time came and will probably explore other options on my next trip. The price and the overall experience fell short of expectations for the priciest hotel in Nac. Disappointed.

Long waits for service at the pool. The food was great once we got it.

Great staff at checkin!

We have stayed at this hotel on our last 4 trips to Nacogdoches. This hotel is amazing. Super friendly staff, especially Paige, and beautiful rooms. Plus each room has a Keurig in it so you can make yourself a fresh cup of coffee anytime you want. We highly recommend the City Cafe and the hotel bar. Happy hour is especially fun and frequently crowded. This is now the only hotel we will stay in when we go to Nacogdoches. If the Fredonia Hotel is booked, then we just reschedule our trip until the hotel has vacancies!

The hotel was very nice, clean, and staff was friendly. I did have an issue with my room\'s sink. It would not drain and unfortunately, after I checked in I had to immediately leave and wasn\'t back until after 11, so it was something I had to deal with for my stay. Only other small issue I had was upon checkout, my family and I wanted to have brunch before we left. We made it down to the café about 10 (we had plans to meet family there at that time or I would\'ve pushed it earlier) and I just stopped by the front desk to let her know about the sink. While I was there I asked if it was ok to leave our bags upstairs while we ate, thinking we could possibly go over 11:00 checkout time by a few minutes. The girl who assisted me wasn\'t very polite about it. "I mean, you can if you don\'t go past 11. We are fully booked tonight." Logic would state that I am pretty sure they aren\'t cleaning all rooms at the exact same time, right at 11. A better response, in my opinion, would\'ve been, yes I can make a note on your account to come after 11:30, etc. So it was a vibe of a "I mean your stay is over, so you gotta go..." So instead of sitting down with my family I had to spend another 15/20 minutes loading up my car before we could eat. We were on a time crunch, so this was a bit of a disappointment. I was just a little put off by that. Otherwise, the stay was nice.

We were greeted very personally at check in! They answered all our questions and gave us just enough info to not be annoying. The service by the pool was amazing. Bryce and the folks behind the bar were gracious and accommodating. We have had a wonderful experience here at the Fredonia!

We were trapped on the 5th floor due to a widespread power outage. There were 3 main problems: 1. The emergency stairs were pitch black, no way to see the steps. 2. There is no back-up phone system to communicate with the staff or let anyone know if there is an emergency. 3. They were working on the elevator without letting anyone above the first floor know. An inexcusably dangerous situation was created that could easily have been avoided.

The staff is unfailingly courteous and welcoming. Always a pleasant stay!

Disappointed in my first stay at the Fredonia, the nicest hotel in Nacogdoches and most expensive. Thunder/lightening storm blew in around midnight. Lost power all night. No A\C. No lights until 8:30am the next morning. Stood at the elevator to leave for over 10 minutes like a dummy. Elevator not working. No sign. No notice from hotel staff. Had to walk 4 stories down stairs with my luggage. Hot, humid and unnecessary. Hotel of this caliber should have a generator available for the storms this city has experienced for years. No communication from staff regarding power outage. No additional support staff to assist patrons. Poor old lady with wheelchair and walker had to climb downstairs 5 flights! I was behind her and the one guy loaded like a pack.mule helping her with luggage and disibilty equipment. No apologies or compensation for my I convince offered at checkout desk which had no internet to access my account. So much for quality and luxury.

This hotel is top notch! The service is impeccable and the rooms are amazing. We love the ambiance the Fredonia gives and will continue to make reservations there!

The Fredonia is always a pleasant & comfortable place to stay in Nacogdoches. We love the proximity to downtown & the walkability of the area.

Excellent hotel just a block away from the boutiques of main Street. The rooms are clean with thoughtful touches throughout. Highly recommend this stay!

Centrally located to the square

The Fredonia is always our favorite place to stay. The location is perfect - walking distance to downtown. The atmosphere is welcoming and refined. The staff are always friendly & helpful.

It's a quick walk to the Fredonia Brewery.

This hotel is in walking distance to everything in the historic district. The bar and restaurants are great. We ate dinner poolside which was awesome. Look at the rooms online. There are various size rooms - more choices than most hotels.

Great place to stay in the downtown area with good restaurants and excellent service. The room exceeded my expectations. Much better than any chain hotel!

Very nice hotel located right in the middle of downtown. Having the bar and grill and restaurants on location made it nice. Also walking distance to shops and restaurants. Perfect location.

Loved our stay! The food in the hotel was absolutely phenomenal.

Very nice hotel in 50's retro style but in an upscale way. Dining room open long hours had very good food. Bar was nice and lively with same menu as restaurant. We had a tower double queen which was stylish with nice view. The other couple with us booked a terrace queen which was a huge room and bath. Hotel is a block from downtown shops and restaurants. A lot to like.

Thought the hotel was a cute boutique hotel. They were out of a lot of beers while there, so didn’t get to try some while we were there. AC in the rooms is on a motion sensor, so that’s challenging but the front desk can adjust that if requested. Service was excellent there and the steakhouse was delish.

The AC was struggling. It didn't get past 71 all night long and made horrible noises all night. It was very hot! The food in the restaurant was also subpar, microwaveable trash. Don't recommend the lemon chicken- the chicken wasn’t present, instead it was breading on breading.

We enjoyed the hotel bar and the dinner at Republic was delicious. Make a reservation if you want a table though, they were full so we ate at the bar. Megan the bartender was great! The terrace pool was clean but cold. We didn’t have time to try the other heated pool on property. Bed was comfy and hotel was clean and comfortable with a neat vibe. No door on the shower was strange, but overall our stay was great. We loved being walking distance to the Fredonia Brewery. Definitely stay again if we are in town. We came for a show at Banita Creek Hall but it got moved to the SFA coliseum (not in walking distance)

It's a renovated hotel in the middle of the downtown district. One pool is next to the cafe which is awkward when driving to sun bath etc. Had a good experience at the Republic Steakhouse but bring your wallet:)

Beautiful property. The restaurants are so convenient snd have fresh, tasty food. We stayed in the tower for the first time, the room iwas spacious snd comfortable.

The hotel rooms were clean and well kept. I had issues with their Steakhouse the Republic of Fredonia. Arrived at the restaurant at our reservation time. After asking my name (my wife and I are of Mexican descent), we were told our table was not ready and we could wait at the bar or in the waiting area. I counted 6 open tables at the time. While waiting, 4 white couples checked AFTER us, and were all seated immediately. I pointed this obvious fact out to the hostess, and was offered bar table seating in their lounge chairs and low rise table. I refused the bar area seating and asked for a real table that we had a reservation for. We were then seated at one of the open dining tables. The waiter was pleasant, the dinner service was good. The food was phenomenal. I ordered a filet and burgundy mushrooms. During dinner a number of couples left and more white patrons seated. Upon leaving, i noticed two open tables, and a black couple waiting in the waiting area to be seated. Needless to say, what is obvious, is obvious.. will never return to this restaurant or hotel again…

Everyone was very kind. My room was super cozy! That hotel has immense character. The food is great. The cocktails were even better!
