As a team, our goal is to go above and beyond your expectation for accommodation. By booking with us, you’re not booking a bed, you’re choosing to become part of our incredibly extended family, now 16+ years in the making! Welcome =) We’re an amazing Hostel, but we’re also a different Hostel. Please take a few mins to read through our quirks to make sure you have the best possible time with us: ‼️Quirks about our hostel, and why: • Taxes not included - 21% + $5 USD/$80mxn per person, per night. - [ ] Taxes not included in the price of your online reservation: No hostels in Cancun include taxes in their online prices. Yes, we know they’re high, but if included, they would incur a commission, making taxes more expensive for everyone. - [ ] Lockers in common areas instead of rooms: This reduces noise in the rooms from people fiddling with their locks or stuff & allows us to point security cameras at the lockers to help keep them safe. - [ ] No checkout time: We won’t wake you up to let you know that you have to check out, but we do expect you to go to reception as soon as you’ve comfortably gotten out of bed & done your morning wake-up routine. That way you can let us know what time you’re planning on leaving or if you’d like to extend your stay. - [ ] Rooms are across the street or down the road from reception: our main social common area is at the Hunter bar where everyone is welcome. This helps keep your rooms quieter & safer at night. As a small business, this also allows us to continue to offer you 24-hour reception. For security, our staff are always moving around the properties, checking security cameras, & all guests must wear wristbands to help us quickly identify non-guests which are only permitted at the bar. - [ ] We don’t accept credit card payments: this is relatively common in Mexico, but for your convenience, we do accept cash payments in 6 different currencies (USD, CAD, €, £, CHF, & pesos of course). We also accept transfers via: Zelle, Revolut, e-Transfer, & PayPal (though it incurs a 5% fee). - [ ] Exchange rates: As a courtesy, we accept the wide variety of foreign cash mentioned above (banknotes), but as with any business, we use our own exchange rates. You’re welcome to choose to use whichever one of these payment methods which works best for you. Note that our online rates are set in USD, and we’re in Mexico, so our direct rates are in MXN. - [ ] No Kitchen: While we don’t have a kitchen for guests to use, we do have refrigerators, microwaves, tea kettles, & toasters available for your use. We also offer many activities that include free or discounted food in the evenings like Guac & BBQ nite. We’re also lucky to be incredibly well located next to Cancun’s Central Park where you can find safe, authentic, delicious meals for under 5 USD. Mexico is world-famous for amazing food, but if you have any dietary restrictions, or you’re simply tired of tacos, we’re happy to help with alternative suggestions. =) - [ ] Staff doesn’t speak my language: This is generally a quirk of travel, but it’s worth remembering that most people aren’t fluent in more than one language. We do our best to find multi-cultural, multi-lingual staff, and we’re sure our team does their best to communicate well with you, but if something isn’t quite working, please remember they might be fluent in other languages & kindly request to speak to someone else via google translate. - [ ] No Phone number: Our hostel doesn’t have a reception phone that you can call for the same reason as the language issue, plus the fact that details can easily be lost via a phone call. If you have any questions, please reach out to us on Facebook, email, or Instagram, and we’ll do our best to get back to you within 24 hours. - [ ] No weed/drugs: Everyone’s safety is a top priority for us. Attracting the attention of organized crime through demand for & consumption of marihuana or any other drug on or near our premises is the fastest way to having a security issue. We take this very seriously. Anyone caught using, selling, discussing, or in possession of anything will be asked to leave without a refund. - [ ] Location: Cancun is divided in two: the touristic Hotel Zone (where the beaches are) and Downtown Cancun. We may not be next to the beaches, but our location is one of the best & safest in the city: 30 seconds from Cancun’s Central Park (tons of amazing food), a 6min walk from the ADO central bus station (to go & come from the airport & other cities), a 2min walk to the supermarket, and a 1min walk to the bus that takes you to the Hotel Zone for 12 pesos (0.60 USD) - [ ] Passport ID: For security & safety reasons, we require that our guests have a physical, valid passport, and allow us to scan it in order for them to stay with us. Temporary or permanent resident ID of Mexico or Voter Registration from outside Cancun may be accepted, but as a traveler’s and Backpacker Hostel, locals are not permitted to stay in dorms. All bookings are subject to availability. We reserve the right to admission and the right to decline any booking at our discretion. Terms & Conditions, the fine print: As with any shopping experience, there are terms and conditions that apply when you make a reservation with us. The main thing to remember is that by booking a stay with us, you agree to all the terms stated below.
 - [ ] Refundable Bookings with a 48-hour cancelation policy: All bookings arriving 'tonight' or 'tomorrow night' are non-refundable and cannot be canceled without paying for them in full. The following are the ONLY changes we can make to existing bookings: - Increasing number of nights to a booking - Adding people, beds, or rooms to a booking - Upgrade requests from a large dorm to a smaller dorm or a private room - If you have a private room booked and one person will not arrive, that will _not_ affect your reservation. You do not need to let us know. - You do NOT need to contact us if you need to change your time of arrival. Reception is open 24/7, and we will hold your reservation until the morning after your date of arrival. - You _DO_ need to reach out to us if you will miss your arrival date and wish for us to HOLD your booking. If you are a No-Show and do not reach out, your booking will be canceled and charged in full. Reach out via Facebook, email, or Instagram as soon as you know you won’t be arriving on the date of arrival & will get back to you within 24 hours. If your booking is refundable, AND you are not scheduled to arrive _today_ or _tomorrow_ (local time), and you would like to make any of the following modifications, you WILL need to cancel your booking via Hostelworld and make a NEW booking: - Reduce Number of Beds/people/rooms - Reduce Number of Nights - Completely changing dates of stay - Cancelling nights in the middle of your booking dates - Reduce the value of your booking in any way (Downgrade from a private room to a dorm) Note: if your booking is non-refundable, the original booking will still be charged at the original amount, so making a modification will not change the amount due. Contacting us will not change this. - [ ] Reservation Name: The guest name on the reservation is responsible for the entirety of the reservation balance-due. If anyone in the reservation is unable to arrive for whatever reason, the original full balance-due will still need to be paid when checking-in. - [ ] Bed & Group accommodation requests: As a courtesy to our guests, we always attempt to put reservations under the same name in the same room and/or building. If you book separately, we have no way of knowing that you’re traveling together. Please reach out to us and let us know as soon as possible to try and accommodate you in the same rooms/buildings. If you need a bottom (or prefer a top bunk), you’re welcome to request it and we’ll do our best to accommodate the request. Please note though that bed & room requests cannot be guaranteed and are always subject to availability. Please temper expectations and assume that we may not be able to accommodate the request, especially during high season. If the request is very important to you, consider making a refundable booking that you may be able to cancel without a fee while you wait to see if we can adhere to your request. - [ ] Non-Refundable Reservation (aka: NRR Bookings)
A Non-Refundable booking may be charged in full at any time after the booking has been confirmed and will be considered non-refundable in its entirety. It cannot be changed, canceled, or refunded. - [ ] If your credit card is charged and declined or invalid, you have 24 hours to email us your updated credit card information or your reservation will be canceled and the deposit paid to Hostelworld will be forfeited. If you know your card is not chargeable, you must reach out to us after making your reservation to make payment via Zelle, Revolut, eTransfer, or PayPal (5% fee) or your reservation will be canceled and you will not be notified. - [ ] Chargebacks In the event of a chargeback, we reserve the right to charge your card for the amount charged-back in addition to a 50 USD bank fee for the chargeback. A second chargeback will incur you being blacklisted from our Hostel and other Hostels in our network. - [ ] Pending payments: Any balance due for a reservation or extension must be liquidated in full before a new reservation is honored. - [ ] Cancelations: All payments are non-refundable. In the case of any nights canceled due to an early checkout, there are no refunds for unused nights. - [ ] Arriving or checking in after midnight? Book for the date before midnight So, if you expect to arrive or check-in after midnight, your booking must be made for the date it was before midnight. As an example: If you expect to arrive at 2 am on the date of “Monday the 15th”, your booking must be made for arrival on the night of “Sunday the 14th”. In other words: A booking for Sunday night doesn’t end until you wake up on Monday morning, even if you went to sleep at 3am, it’s still the “night of” Sunday. - [ ] No “check-in time”: Our night ‘ends’ at 9am, so if you’d like to check-in at any time before 9am, you’d have to pay for the night before. If your bed or room is available at any time after 9am, we’re happy to give it to you when you arrive. =) If it isn’t available, we’ll give it to you as soon as it is ready and becomes available. We can hold your luggage free of charge, and we have toilets and showers available for your use while you wait. Remember, you will be afforded the same “no checkout time” courtesy on the day of your checkout. - [ ] Verify your Booking dates! You have a courtesy period of 1 hour after booking to verify the booking details & message us to cancel it free-of-charge if made in error (even if it’s non-refundable). Please double-check your booking after making it to make sure that your date of arrival and departure, number of people, and room(s) booked are correct. (We may take up to 24 hours to respond) Any deposit paid to Hostelworld will be forfeited. - [ ] HostelWorld Deposits: Deposits are paid to our booking agents directly and are only valid for the exact dates booked. They are non-refundable and non-transferable. You need to contact the booking agent directly if you disagree with this policy. - [ ] No Show If you do not arrive for your booking, you are considered a NO SHOW. Reservations will have until 9am local time on the day after their scheduled arrival to communicate with the Hostel property via email, facebook, or instagram if they wish to maintain their reservation. Otherwise, we reserve the right to charge your credit card for the total booking value and cancel the remainder of your booked nights. We strongly recommend that all guests have travel insurance which they can seek restitution from in the event of their inability to check-in or communicate with us on time and miss a guaranteed booking. Please remember that making a booking means that we guarantee to hold your bed or room for the entirety of your reservation in exchange for the guarantee that you will cover the agreed cost of that service. While we understand that missed or canceled flights, sickness, and other unexpected circumstances are frustrating and may be outside a traveler's control, please take a moment to remember that they are well outside our control as well. As such, cancelation fees cannot be waived. For this reason, we strongly recommend that all guests have travel insurance. - [ ] Overbookings / booking any specific room All of our rooms are unique, but not individually bookable. When you book with us, you are booking a “room-type”, so the image of the room you see online is an example of that “room-type”. While your booking will likely be in a different room than the images you saw, you will still be given the same “room-type” you booked. (number of beds, bed size, private bathroom or shared, etc) In the extremely rare case of an overbooking, you will be given the following options: - More often than not, we will be able to offer you an upgrade to a better room-type than your original booking. - If we cannot offer you a better room-type, we may offer you a different room-type with a discount and/or alternative compensation. - If a different room-type is not satisfactory to you, we will refund your HW deposit so that you can search for alternative accommodation at a different Hostel. - If you would like assistance in finding alternative accommodation, we would be happy to help you with suggestions and access to our wifi networks so that you can find a suitable alternative. - [ ] Pricing & Exchange Rates Our prices can and do change frequently. They may also vary across channels, location, and date according to the season, demand, and availability, among other factors. The only way to guarantee a rate is by making a booking. All rates on HW are set in USD. You may pay in any of the currencies we accept, but all currencies are subject to “buy” and “sell” exchange rates set by the property. You are welcome to pay in whatever accepted currency or payment method works best for you. 
When paying in USD, change may only be given in MXN at the USD buy rate. When paying in any other currency, your balance due will be converted to Mxn at the USD sell rate and the currency you wish to use will be converted to Mxn at the property's established buy rate for that currency. - [ ] Minors/Children Children under the age of 18 may only stay in private rooms (or a dorm if booked completely by their party) and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All children must have ID and proof of guardianship if they are not accompanied by a parent. - [ ] Pets - Pet-friendly Hostel We’re a pet-friendly Hostel. Bo’ox, our friendly cat lives at the bar and reception, and we allow guests traveling with pets to stay with us. While guests may bring pets into a private room, they are never allowed in dorms. If you have a pet & have a reservation in a dorm, you will have to upgrade your reservation to a private room (this includes service animals). If you have a severe allergy or fear of cats or dogs, this may not be the ideal Hostel for you. - [ ] No smoking on-site or in rooms Smoking is not permitted anywhere within our property. Any guest found smoking within the building will be charged a $250 USD fee & asked to leave the premises immediately without a refund. A smoking area and ashtrays are provided outside the building for guests who wish to smoke. - [ ] No Drugs We are NOT drug-friendly. Drugs are highly illegal in Mexico and for everyone’s safety, they’re strictly prohibited at our Hostel. Anyone caught using or selling drugs will be removed, reported, & Black-listed with no refund. Want to smoke pot or do drugs in Cancun? Avoid the hassle & book a different hostel. - [ ] Luggage storage Luggage storage is a free service for guests that book a stay with us for at least one night beforehand, and one night when they come back. You may leave one “carry-on” sized-bag for up to one week free of charge. Multiple bags, larger luggage, or luggage left for longer than a week may be paid for at reception. - [ ] Parking We do not have free gated parking available. Street parking in front of our buildings is available for free for an extended period of time. We have parking on-site (but not gated), available for two vehicles on a first-come, first-serve basis for free while staying with us. Gated parking is available for one vehicle for a fee for guests and/or long-term storage. Please inquire at reception if interested. - [ ] Quiet hours: Hostel Ka’beh is our “quiet but social” Hostel. If you want to party, you’re more than welcome to join everyone at the bar, but by 11pm, anyone that wants to continue to socialize or drink must do so at the Hunter bar or off-site. If anyone is warned more than once, their reservation will have to be canceled or moved to our sister Hostel: The Fiesta Party Hostel. - [ ] Personal Property / Forgotten items Guests may use our luggage storage services and/or our lockers, however it remains the guest's sole responsibility to ensure that their personal belongings are secure at all times. Our Hostel accepts no liability for the loss, theft, or damage to property however sustained or caused. If we are notified about any items left unattended or forgotten, as a courtesy, we will (and have many times done) our best to find & hold them to return them to you. If your item is not found, please consider that any of the following could have happened: you may have the item with you, you may have lost it on the way to your next destination, or another guest may have swiped it after you left thinking it was “free stuff”. After more than 16 years in business, we assure you that we have experienced all of these situations and more. Rest assured that we aren’t paying bills funded by forgotten items. We’re infinitely better off with a review from you, our happy guest than whatever the value of your second-hand item is. If we find it, it’s our pleasure to hold it for you. Important final reminders: - [ ] Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that before starting your trip, you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover items including but not limited to: loss of booking amount through cancellation, sickness, missed flights, loss or damage to personal baggage, loss of cash, valuables, and/or medical expenses. - [ ] Missing info, mistakes, changes to facilities, errors, omissions, etc: All of our amenities, facilities, and terms and conditions are subject to change at any time. Any omission or error in sales literature, web pages, website, order form, quotation, price list, reservations, invoice, or other document issued by us may be corrected by us without liability. We will do our best to advise you of any changes at the time of an update or as soon as is reasonably possible thereafter. When in doubt, please approach a staff member for assistance in the matter and reference our overbooking protocol described above as a guide to solving any issues that arise. - [ ] Lastly, the golden rule: Life is hard enough for us in customer service. Don’t be a jerk. We have a clear eviction policy which is strictly enforced. Any guest evicted according to our policy will be blacklisted and will NOT receive a refund. - Hostel Ka’beh, the Fiesta Party Hostel, the Hunter Bar, and Tribe Hostels as a whole WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY ABUSE DIRECTED TOWARDS ANY MEMBERS OF OUR TEAM, CLIENTS, COMMUNITY, OR GUESTS. - The comfort, safety, and security of our guests and staff is of paramount importance to us. Guests are expected to respect other guests, staff, local residents, and Hostel property. - Everyone is welcome here, but anyone suspected of theft, using or selling drugs, engaging in sexual harassment, aggressive behavior, racism, sexism, homophobia, nationalism, hate, violence, damage to our property, or any other behavior deemed inappropriate to the Hostel environment and security of our staff and other travelers will be banned and asked to leave the Hostel premises immediately. Any resistance will be reported to the authorities and the police will be called to remove the offenders. As an example: If you expect to arrive at 2 am on the date of “Monday the 15th”, your booking must be made for arrival on the night of “Sunday the 14th”. In other words: A booking for Sunday night doesn’t end until you wake up on Monday morning, even if you went to sleep at 3am, it’s still the “night of” Sunday. - [ ] No “check-in time”: Our night ‘ends’ at 9am, so if you’d like to check-in at any time before 9am, you’d have to pay for the night before. If your bed or room is available at any time after 9am, we’re happy to give it to you when you arrive. =) If it isn’t available, we’ll give it to you as soon as it is ready and becomes available. We can hold your luggage free of charge, and we have toilets and showers available for your use while you wait. Remember, you will be afforded the same “no checkout time” courtesy on the day of your checkout. - [ ] Verify your Booking dates! You have a courtesy period of 1 hour after booking to verify the booking details & message us to cancel it free-of-charge if made in error (even if it’s non-refundable). Please double-check your booking after making it to make sure that your date of arrival and departure, number of people, and room(s) booked are correct. (We may take up to 24 hours to respond) Any deposit paid to Hostelworld will be forfeited. - [ ] HostelWorld Deposits: Deposits are paid to our booking agents directly and are only valid for the exact dates booked. They are non-refundable and non-transferable. You need to contact the booking agent directly if you disagree with this policy. - [ ] No Show If you do not arrive for your booking, you are considered a NO SHOW. Reservations will have until 9am local time on the day after their scheduled arrival to communicate with the Hostel property via email, facebook, or instagram if they wish to maintain their reservation. Otherwise, we reserve the right to charge your credit card for the total booking value and cancel the remainder of your booked nights. We strongly recommend that all guests have travel insurance which they can seek restitution from in the event of their inability to check-in or communicate with us on time and miss a guaranteed booking. Please remember that making a booking means that we guarantee to hold your bed or room for the entirety of your reservation in exchange for the guarantee that you will cover the agreed cost of that service. While we understand that missed or canceled flights, sickness, and other unexpected circumstances are frustrating and may be outside a traveler's control, please take a moment to remember that they are well outside our control as well. As such, cancelation fees cannot be waived. For this reason, we strongly recommend that all guests have travel insurance. - [ ] Overbookings / booking any specific room All of our rooms are unique, but not individually bookable. When you book with us, you are booking a “room-type”, so the image of the room you see online is an example of that “room-type”. While your booking will likely be in a different room than the images you saw, you will still be given the same “room-type” you booked. (number of beds, bed size, private bathroom or shared, etc) In the extremely rare case of an overbooking, you will be given the following options: - More often than not, we will be able to offer you an upgrade to a better room-type than your original booking. - If we cannot offer you a better room-type, we may offer you a different room-type with a discount and/or alternative compensation. - If a different room-type is not satisfactory to you, we will refund your HW deposit so that you can search for alternative accommodation at a different Hostel. - If you would like assistance in finding alternative accommodation, we would be happy to help you with suggestions and access to our wifi networks so that you can find a suitable alternative. - [ ] Pricing & Exchange Rates Our prices can and do change frequently. They may also vary across channels, location, and date according to the season, demand, and availability, among other factors. The only way to guarantee a rate is by making a booking. All rates on HW are set in USD. You may pay in any of the currencies we accept, but all currencies are subject to “buy” and “sell” exchange rates set by the property. You are welcome to pay in whatever accepted currency or payment method works best for you. 
When paying in USD, change may only be given in MXN at the USD buy rate. When paying in any other currency, your balance due will be converted to Mxn at the USD sell rate and the currency you wish to use will be converted to Mxn at the property's established buy rate for that currency. - [ ] Minors/Children Children under the age of 18 may only stay in private rooms (or a dorm if booked completely by their party) and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All children must have ID and proof of guardianship if they are not accompanied by a parent. - [ ] Pets - Pet-friendly Hostel We’re a pet-friendly Hostel. Bo’ox, our friendly cat lives at the bar and reception, and we allow guests traveling with pets to stay with us. While guests may bring pets into a private room, they are never allowed in dorms. If you have a pet & have a reservation in a dorm, you will have to upgrade your reservation to a private room (this includes service animals). If you have a severe allergy or fear of cats or dogs, this may not be the ideal Hostel for you. - [ ] No smoking on-site or in rooms Smoking is not permitted anywhere within our property. Any guest found smoking within the building will be charged a $250 USD fee & asked to leave the premises immediately without a refund. A smoking area and ashtrays are provided outside the building for guests who wish to smoke. - [ ] No Drugs We are NOT drug-friendly. Drugs are highly illegal in Mexico and for everyone’s safety, they’re strictly prohibited at our Hostel. Anyone caught using or selling drugs will be removed, reported, & Black-listed with no refund. Want to smoke pot or do drugs in Cancun? Avoid the hassle & book a different hostel. - [ ] Luggage storage Luggage storage is a free service for guests that book a stay with us for at least one night beforehand, and one night when they come back. You may leave one “carry-on” sized-bag for up to one week free of charge. Multiple bags, larger luggage, or luggage left for longer than a week may be paid for at reception. - [ ] Parking We do not have free gated parking available. Street parking in front of our buildings is available for free for an extended period of time. We have parking on-site (but not gated), available for two vehicles on a first-come, first-serve basis for free while staying with us. Gated parking is available for one vehicle for a fee for guests and/or long-term storage. Please inquire at reception if interested. - [ ] Quiet hours: Hostel Ka’beh is our “quiet but social” Hostel. If you want to party, you’re more than welcome to join everyone at the bar, but by 11pm, anyone that wants to continue to socialize or drink must do so at the Hunter bar or off-site. If anyone is warned more than once, their reservation will have to be canceled or moved to our sister Hostel: The Fiesta Party Hostel. - [ ] Personal Property / Forgotten items Guests may use our luggage storage services and/or our lockers, however it remains the guest's sole responsibility to ensure that their personal belongings are secure at all times. Our Hostel accepts no liability for the loss, theft, or damage to property however sustained or caused. If we are notified about any items left unattended or forgotten, as a courtesy, we will (and have many times done) our best to find & hold them to return them to you. If your item is not found, please consider that any of the following could have happened: you may have the item with you, you may have lost it on the way to your next destination, or another guest may have swiped it after you left thinking it was “free stuff”. After more than 16 years in business, we assure you that we have experienced all of these situations and more. Rest assured that we aren’t paying bills funded by forgotten items. We’re infinitely better off with a review from you, our happy guest than whatever the value of your second-hand item is. If we find it, it’s our pleasure to hold it for you. Important final reminders: - [ ] Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that before starting your trip, you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover items including but not limited to: loss of booking amount through cancellation, sickness, missed flights, loss or damage to personal baggage, loss of cash, valuables, and/or medical expenses. - [ ] Missing info, mistakes, changes to facilities, errors, omissions, etc: All of our amenities, facilities, and terms and conditions are subject to change at any time. Any omission or error in sales literature, web pages, website, order form, quotation, price list, reservations, invoice, or other document issued by us may be corrected by us without liability. We will do our best to advise you of any changes at the time of an update or as soon as is reasonably possible thereafter. When in doubt, please approach a staff member for assistance in the matter and reference our overbooking protocol described above as a guide to solving any issues that arise. - [ ] Lastly, the golden rule: Life is hard enough for us in customer service. Don’t be a jerk. We have a clear eviction policy which is strictly enforced. Any guest evicted according to our policy will be blacklisted and will NOT receive a refund. - Hostel Ka’beh, the Fiesta Party Hostel, the Hunter Bar, and Tribe Hostels as a whole WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY ABUSE DIRECTED TOWARDS ANY MEMBERS OF OUR TEAM, CLIENTS, COMMUNITY, OR GUESTS. - The comfort, safety, and security of our guests and staff is of paramount importance to us. Guests are expected to respect other guests, staff, local residents, and Hostel property. - Everyone is welcome here, but anyone suspected of theft, using or selling drugs, engaging in sexual harassment, aggressive behavior, racism, sexism, homophobia, nationalism, hate, violence, damage to our property, or any other behavior deemed inappropriate to the Hostel environment and security of our staff and other travelers will be banned and asked to leave the Hostel premises immediately. Any resistance will be reported to the authorities and the police will be called to remove the offenders. This is absolutely the last thing we ever want to have to do, so help us avoid ever having to do it. Our aim is simply to be able to maintain a safe, fun, inclusive, environment for everyone.
