This was a very quaint hotel perfectly situated near the main touristic area. The reception staff were lovely and helped carry our luggage because our room was quite a distance from the check-in area and also down several stairs. The paid parking in the hotel’s garage was not super convenient but it’s not the hotel’s fault. There is limited car accessibility in that part of the city. So, just keep this in mind when booking this hotel. The breakfast was quite good. I’m not normally one to complain but our hotel room was quite noisy as it sat directly on the street level where cars whizzed by along the canal so try avoid a room like this if you can. It gets better during the night but if you arrive tired and jet lagged and want an afternoon nap, you will be a little frustrated by the street noise. Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel and absolutely loved Brugge!!!

Nice hotel but the front was undergoing renovations so the entrance was canal side. Cobbled street between the hotel and the canal meant cars and the occasional bus were noisy. Staff were friendly and amenable.

Brilliant location, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and lovely room that was different to the typical standard. Great water pressure, good breakfast and a nice bar overlooking the canals. Would definitely stay there again

Good location especially getting off the bus from the station. Canal room was great! Just what I hoped for. Quiet in the evening on this side of town too. Had a great breakfast at @tatties in the next block very near, and a good mid point for walking to the windmills etc. had a great time. Stairs are a bit of a trick, you’ll get used to them but keep in mind luggage or up and over the stairs between their 5 connected buildings. Adds to the quirk of it all.

Very cute hotel, but in need of some renovations. The mini fridge didn't close properly, there was no outlet in the bathroom for a hair iron (only the hairdryer that was fastened over the outlet or hardwired in - not removable so couldn't tell), there was definitely evidence of some water damage in the form of bubbling and cracked paint here and there. It was all ok though, and the room seemed clean, didn't smell like mildew or anything. My main concern, and maybe this is just an American thing, is that the elevator door didn't stop when it came in contact with me, my luggage, or my hand. Had to hit the button a couple of times after the doors failed to stop on first contact. That aside, it's a cute hotel, with comfortable beds, in a good location, with pleasant staff.

Older building heavy on charm- but no AC and with damp weather we constantly felt humid air inside. Had to open windows - lovely canal view. Elevator is small and we still had to use some stairs with luggage. We were in the library room very pretty.

We loved the location of this hotel and there was a free shuttle from the train station the dropped us of at the top of the street. However there is a local bus service as well no2 that drops you almost out side. The towels in the hotel had seen better days, multiple holes in them.

I really wanted to like this hotel. It has potential - housed in a quaint and charming building. However, the hotel needs some serious renovations. The stairs are covered with carpet that is threadbare, ripped and taped together in places. The towels are thin and need to be replaced. The whole place has an air of neglect.

This was a great location on the canal! The room was large, nicely finished with a new bathroom ! The issue was the condition of the carpet that was badly stained and we had a rip in our duvet cover. The same in the hallway carpet was stained and in some cases ripped! Staff was ok but not real friendly or welcoming! Traffic noise was a moderate issue! This could be wonderful with a little TLC. I

The bed was comfortable and the room was relatively clean. However the building is extremely old and could use some updating. There was a horrible sewer gas smell during our stay and we needed to keep the windows open to air the room out. The floors were uneven and creaked. I would not stay here again.

Die Unterkunft ist schön und gut gelegen. Das Personal ist freundlich. Leider hatten wir ein ganz schlechtes Zimmer. Ich hatte mit kanalblick gebucht und wir landeten im Erdgeschoss, nicht wissend, dass zwischen Kanal und Hotel noch eine Straße liegt, in der auch der Bus fährt. Sehr laut, als fährt der Bus durchs Bett. Die Klimaanlage funktionierte auch nicht und es war sehr heiß im Zimmer, da wir die Fenster nicht öffnen wollten im Erdgeschoss war an Schlaf kaum zu denken. Ich finde das sollte man bei der Buchung beachten.

This is such a charming hotel with history. We stayed in the library room and it was amazing. Very spacious and comfortable. It had two windows that looked out right onto the canal. It has some great restaurants within steps of the hotel. It’s also a short walk into the heart of Brugge so can easily access all that Brugge has to offer, but then it’s far enough away from the main attractions that it makes it feel quaint and private when you retreat for the evening. We would absolutely stay here again.

The location was ideal! Absolutely gorgeous canal view, easy walking distance to so many restaurants and all the main attractions you want to see in Bruges. Large room, large bathroom and comfortable beds. Would highly recommend and would stay here again for sure.

We stayed four nights and the Relais was such a comfortable and beautifully designed temporary home. Loved our big room with a big bed and a great canalside view through those great, theatrically draped windows. Every place we wanted to go seemed to be just a few minutes away and it was always a great pleasure to return to our room after enjoying Brugge, a beautiful and very interesting city. We also went off adventuring every morning well-fuelled by the fine buffet breakfast.

We really enjoy staying at this hotel. Check in was very easy, the actual location made it very easy to walk to all of our activities, even though it's on the outer edge of the downtown area, it is so easy to get right into the heart of market square but yet stay far away from the big crowds, only a 9-minute walk. The only thing that I did not love about the hotel which cannot be controlled by the hotel itself, we had a beautiful room that overlooked the canal but unfortunately as the cars drove by who is very noisy from the street. Nothing the hotel could do about this, just something that if somebody is very sensitive to noise they should consider a garden view instead. Also there are a lot of stairs, so this should be considered if anybody has trouble navigating stairs. We would definitely stay here again.

Charming property, comfy bed & nice, friendly staff. Frederick was so helpful & informative. I love the decor. Breakfast was filling enough. They have soy milk but wished they had light/low fat/skim milk. Overall, I would definitely stay there again.

Asking them for more towels (since they only gave us hand towels) was met with annoyed responses - “Why do you need more towels?” “You shouldn’t need more towels.” “We aren’t giving you more towels.” This was just one example of behavior that was not to the level of a four star hotel.

The hotel was perfectly located to walk everywhere around the city. What was disappointing was the front desk staff (except Fatina, she was fabulous, cheerful and welcoming) and their lack of offering 'need to know information' to visitors who where unfamiliar with little things that turned out to be huge; such as needing to order a taxi the night before. We almost missed our train because we did not know, even after letting the front desk attendant know our plans for checking out the day before, it was never mentioned. Only after waiting almost 30 minutes for the taxi to arrive, did we find out. Some of the lights in the room were burnt out, so the room was dark. A few outlets didn’t work. The elevator was a bit funky, but not terrible. The location saved our rating from being one star lower. All in all a decent place, just ask a lot of questions.
The hotel was perfectly located to walk everywhere around the city. What was disappointing was the front desk staff (except Fatina, she was fabulous, cheerful and welcoming) and their lack of offering 'need to know information' to visitors who where unfamiliar with little things that turned out to be huge; such as needing to order a taxi the night before. I loved the location, facing at a quiet canal, a short stroll away from the bustle of the touristy areas. Wonderful dining options nearby. There is a bus stop a few steps away that take you to the train station or the farthest reaches of the city. The room was spacious, nicely furnished, with a beautiful view of the canal, plenty of hanging space, but not much to place not hanging clothes. Nice common areas. Breakfast was good. Several small things made it not a 5 star stay. 1-Coffe in the room was powder coffee. A Nespresso, or drip coffee should be standard for a 4 star hotel 2- The mixing valve of the shower did not mix well, so water went from too hot to too cold and I had to take showers moving in and out of the water stream 3. The reception person there most of the time was rather inattentive. We asked for a nearby restaurant recommendation that could take us the first day without a reservation and we were pointed to a book. We asked for information about the bus schedule and he told us to walk to the bus stop, we found out there was a marathon the day we were checking out, and we asked about street closures and the person had no idea there was a marathon passing just in front of the hotel, nor how that was going to affect our going to the train station. The hotel posted something the day before the marathon. 4- The towels looked dingy. 5- No way to control the heating. But, overall it was a good stay and might come back to it if we go back to Bruges.

This hotel is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The biggest compliment I can pay it is that it felt like home. The staff were all outstanding and helped with places to visit and getting around. The room was superb, huge bed and so comfortable and clean. Stunning hotel with real character. Loved every second of our stay.

The hotel's location is great, central yet on a quiet street. Check in was fine, but didn't have a warm welcome feeling here, quite cold actually. At least that was my experience as an asian women traveler. The hotel itself is dated but cute and cozy, the room was clean. Overall it's a good stay.

The location was ideal! Absolutely gorgeous canal view, easy walking distance to so many restaurants and all the main attractions you want to see in Bruges. Large room, large bathroom and comfortable beds. Would highly recommend and would stay here again for sure.

A lovely and very comfortable hotel with all mod cons and a touch of luxury but without loosing its old world charm. My husband and I stayed in a delux suite with canal view. Very, very spacious, lovely decor, the bathroom was huge with a superb shower and great pressure. We loved the separate loo with a heated seat that automatically lifted when you went in❤️ Our only niggle was the pillows, (and bed to a degree) were a little harder than we’re used too but in no way did it spoil our stay. It is also a shame that the hotel don’t do evening meals, just breakfast but there are plenty of restaurants near by. Very peaceful, quiet hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Would stay here again if we return to Bruges☺️

Good location of hotel. Central but quiet. Rooms were large but in poor condition. Beds were old and uncomfortable. No usb ports. We had issues with mosquitoes coming into the room. Breakfast was below average for a 4 star hotel and I expected better choice. Staff were okay. Could do with a revamp but we enjoyed our time in Bruges nonetheless.
