Everyone at the hotel was amazing, helpful, friendly. The food I had for dinner and breakfast was delicious plus served with a smile. The hotel and room were immaculate, so inviting, would definitely stay again. The location was so convenient to walk to Pitt. Only negative is the valet was a bit steep at $42, others nearby were about 1/2 that price for valet. 5 stars overall.

Nice modern design, spacious room and friendly staff at reception and valet. We were disappointed that there was no on-premises coffee shop open during our visit, only breakfast service at the hotel restaurant/bar. At night, the restaurant/bar was fully taken by events both Saturday and Sunday nights, so no place to grab a nightcap (or food). Supposed a very limited menu was available for room delivery via a QR code, but the options weren’t appealing and there were no in-room snacks.

This is a nice property very close to Pitt. The facility is nice, if a bit bizarre that the front desk is essentially a hostess stand outside the restaurant on the 10th floor. For an Autograph property, some unforced errors that diminish the experience. Disability rooms guarantee a wet bathroom floor. Room stocked with only decaf coffee requiring more than one call to the front desk. Very nice fitness center. Signature drinks at the bar are unpleasantly sweet. Had a pleasant stay with a few areas that could be improved at this price point.

Comfortable and convenient. However, room furniture seems old and outdated. Old Lamp next to bed did not work (switch, not bulb). Only restaurant and bar in facility was closed Friday from 2PM to closing for a private event. No other options other than room service for food or drink.

The staff was very friendly, and the hotel was in a great location. There were some maintenance issues with the property, only one of the two elevators were working, which led to long waits, and we had a couple of things wrong with bathroom fixtures. Also, the HVAC system seems to have a mind of its own.

My colleague and stayed here for a work trip and we had a very positive experience. Room was large and clean, and it was great having a Nespresso machine in the room! Everything we needed was within walking distance of the hotel. The rooftop bar was beautiful and had a great cocktail list, and the restaurant offered a delicious breakfast in the morning. The gym was spacious and had a good variety of workout and cardio equipment. The service everywhere at this hotel was friendly!

We stay here often and always love the high end quality of this hotel. This time we were very disappointed. We only booked for one night. I always pull back the comforter to check the sheets and there were several stains on the sheet, as if they were never changed. Horrible experience. The bathroom was very clean, but it makes me wonder how often the sheets are changed.

We checked in really late at night after a long day of driving. The bed didn't have a fitted sheet or a mattress pad, it's just a flat sheet, which is kind of gross because it moved around. You could see the pattern of the mattress through the sheet. The sheets had some small holes. We went to be anyway exhausted, one of us had a conference the next day. In the morning, we saw the shower heads were super crusty with gunk, and there was mold on the ceiling in the shower area. There's also staining around the sink and toilet. I assume all the rooms are in this level of disrepair, these things are not a one off. It's less than I would not expect it in a 4 star hotel. We didn't want the burden of moving rooms during the packed conference, I just don't think I should have to pay $350 a night for a room that isn't ever deep cleaned. When we got home, I emailed the hotel and sent pictures. Twice. I never got a reply. Skip this hotel. It's easy to walk to campus and museums and such, but a waste of money for maintenance and responses. A lot of hotels around, save your money.

Good: Quiet, convenient location, nice view, suite furniture layout and overall design. Bad: Very hard mattress. Overall cleanliness sub-par for a 4-star hotel, specifically in the bathroom. Active mold in the shower grout, hair and debris on the floors and buildup in the corners, dust buildup, hair in clean towels, etc. It is almost as though it has not been thoroughly cleaned in years, and not adequately cleaned between guest stays.

The room was clean. The staff was very helpful from the valet, to the concierge to the front desk. When we checked in there was an issue with our room which they promptly rectified. We also requested extra pillows and they brought is more than enough. And every time we stepped into the bottom floor the concierge was very friendly offering cold water and calling the elevator for us.

Excellent hotel and location. Gave 4 stars for cleanliness due to finding a dirty ear swab in the bathroom and want super clean. Also found a pendant in the bed that didn’t belong to us which was bizarre. Linens seemed clean. Maybe the cleaning staff lost it while changing the sheets. Otherwise - wonderful!

Everything was great about this stay. Rooms were great. I'd prefer to have a regular coffee maker in the rooms though, not everyone enjoys expressos. Also, maybe coffee in the lobby area. During my stay I was leaving for business in the mornings ~7:15ish, would have been nice to be able to have coffee down there. I would definitely stay there again.

A very well located hotel with pleasant staff, a clean gym, spacious and comfortable room. Objections: horrid bathroom lighting. Also non-working phone. tea making only on request, quirky faucets in shower and at sink. Linens were generous in size and quantity and cozy robe, Would definitely recommend!

The hotel is overpriced. The beds were very uncomfortable and small. The shower handle fell off while using and it was terribly difficult to operate. The bathroom door didn’t stay closed and the thermostat was nonexistent in the room. The valet service at 42.00 per night in Pittsburgh is too high. The only positive was the location.

I would like to think two of the most professional, courteous, exceptionally knowledgeable and personable. Mary and Baily. I came in on a late Friday night with a reservation and somehow Expidia canceled it out without my knowledge. These ladies could’ve easily just said we’re sorry we don’t have a room for you and that was it. And I honestly would’ve been OK with that, but that’s not what they did. They studiously called around the city with their personal connections for about 30 minutes straight, trying to find us hotels, only stopping to help guest check-in until they found a room in another hotel. They did it with so much grace and humility as if they owed it to us. Me and my wife was so impressed with that because they owed us nothing. So instead of staying in the hotel that they got us for the whole weekend. We stayed one day and came back to the Oaklander for the next day or so. Not only was this the first impression of the hotel, but it was an amazing one. We decided from then on that we will always stay at the Oaklander every time we come back to Pittsburgh, no questions asked. We thank those two ladies and anyone else involved in our process and that amazing hotel. Thank you once again Mary and Baily

We had a very disappointing experience at this property. Although our stay was comfortable, the housekeeping staff mistakenly discarded one of our personal belongings, thinking it was trash. While the housekeeping manager promptly investigated the matter the following morning, contacted us, apologized, and refunded the item's value towards our reservation, the behavior of the front desk staff was unacceptable. Their arrogant attitude and lack of responsibility when addressing our loss made the situation far worse. This experience has left a bitter impression, and we will not be returning to this property.

The gentleman that I spoke with on May 8th to let him know that we would be arriving late was SO helpful and KIND. I do not know his name, but he deserves KUDOS. It would be nice to have clearer instructions to know that check is on 10th floor. Hotel is pretty nice. Valet attendant on May 9th was EXTREMELY nice as well.

What a lovely hotel with upscale amenities in the room and in the lodging. The valet staff and bellman are above par and I am in Pittsburgh a lot. The bar staff and restaurant staff should be commended as it was an extremely busy weekend with graduations, art event and other parties. The place where they are lacking MAJORILY is getting in contact with anyone. No one answers the phones. No one. The front desk staff are not nice at all. They lack the professional and upscale demeanor the rest of the hotel has. They seem to be bothered by anyone coming to them to ask any type of question. The front desk area could utilize a person strictly to answer questions and offer some kindness. When checking in, the girl immediately snapped at me that I could not check in without knowing that I made my reservation for the day before and was actually late. I tried to call on numerous occasions, sent several emails, etc. and this was never noticed. My guess that the front staff/management are lacking in this area tremendously. However, I would stay again as the hotel is lovely, the rest of the staff is great and the room was fantastic.

My son and I drove to Pittsburgh from Philadelphia for an accepted student even at U Pitt. The Oaklander couldn't possibly be better located. The front desk and valet staff were incredibly helpful. The lobby bar on the top floor had a great vibe and good drinks. The room was spacious and well appointed.

We really enjoyed this hotel. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Best? No carpets in rooms…loved it! The only complaint is the Restaurant on site: poor service and not the best food. We waited 40 minutes for only a main dish and mine was just a Cesar Salad…not impressed. Everything else was amazing.

Would have given five stars except dinner in the hotel let us down a little. Several menu items weren't available and then a few weren't consistent with expectations given how nice the dining room and staff were. For example, we had the octopus appetizer and it looked like they took the octopus through a grater -- with balsamic dressing on the greens completely overpowering any flavor the octopus might have had. The burger and fries, were, however, yummy.

I love that the autograph hotels each have their own style and don't feel like a typical Marriott--it takes things up a notch. This one was no exception. We were very pleased with our stay and the in-house bar and restaurant was very nice, convenient, and tasty. I didn't know what to expect in this area but we were moving my son into the dorm and wanted to stay fairly close. The location was great since it felt safe and we could walk to various parts of the campus and the museums. I would absolutely book again if in the area.
