It clearly says nonsmoking but as soon as you walked in it smelled like pot. They don’t have an elevator and put us on the 3rd floor when I have a son with mobility issues.

Great value. Very clean (except for 2nd floor carpeting) and safe. few minutes ride to riverwalk and downtown wilmington. interior corridors. coffee in lobby.

Having a wedding in Wilmington at the height of BEACH SEASON, I tried to find a hotel within my budget and that was Coastal Suites came in. The positives of this no frills hotel: clean room, very comfortable bed /pillows and friendly/helpful staff. The negatives: dirty carpets in the common areas, no elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floors and no mirror in the room except for the bathroom.

Dave, the manager, was quite helpful and professional. The property was clean and well maintained. The parking lot was well lit and provided handicap parking. The room included a microwave and a small refrigerator. Coffee pot was broken and coffee was unavailable. For myself, the toilets were too low. Shower was awesome! We would definitely stay there again.

Location was great (near battleship and one tree hill spots), hotel was clean, staff was great and parking was easy.

This was a real gem for the money. Hotel is being remodeled so there is some mess with that but otherwise clean and comfortable staff is friendly and the coffee was great!

No elevator and placed on the third floor. No breakfast, or closet. Very basic. Very disappointed.

We stayed 2 nights and didn’t have any problems other than really loud guests on our floor. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Everything in the room worked, refrigerator was a good decent size and kept food & drinks cold. Didn’t use the microwave. Tv was a good size and worked. A/C worked great and kept our room cool. Room & bathroom were clean. Lobby is always open as it’s one of the doors to go in and out of. They do have a vending machine with snacks & drinks which is nice. Only things I didn’t like was there are 3 floors and NO elevator. You have to walk up stairs to get to the 2nd & 3rd floors. They have carpet throughout except for the first floor hallway, the carpet is nasty and disgusting looking. The guy at the front desk did mention they are planning to take the carpet up in the future. If they put new floors down throughout the halls and rooms, I would probably stay there again for a night or two. It’s in a good location, close to lots of restaurants and shopping. They do have plenty of parking which is well lit at night. There are train tracks very close and apparently a train comes thru late every night because we heard it both nights around 11pm-12am (it’s pretty loud).

This property was OK. They don’t offer breakfast and they don’t have a swimming pool. You have to ask for a hair dryer, one doesn’t come in your room. There are no phones in your room. I will not be going back there. For the price they should at least offer more.

The room I was in has no smoke alarm, the windows are bolted shut. Both of these are fire hazard issues. The carpet was clearly not properly cleaned or maintained, there were huge black and brown stains . The bathroom had roaches living in the tub. So, this place needs some work!

The room was clean and the staff was friendly. I will stay there again the next time I go to Wilmington.

We killed several cockroaches in the room and had to put our suitcases back in the car so we didnt bring them home with us.

I got bed bugs

The hotel while older was extremely clean and staff were friendly! My room was perfect - the bed was comfortable! It was quiet and felt very safe. Great basic hotel.

The cleanliness of the rugs was horrible, I'm sure they were vacuum but they were so stained I didn't even want to take my shoes off. Everything else was clean but all the rugs need to be changed in this whole place, nothing but stains everywhere even on the stairs, other than that everything else was pretty clean but it just grossed me out

Not the most comfortable but it had a clean bed. My biggest issue was the floors. The carpets need to be cleaned badly and not in just the high traffic areas

Carpets stained room smelled like mold worst hotel I’ve ever seen

The room was a basic older super 8 room, mattresses were ok. Sheets smelled a bit musty. The carpet in the hallways and rooms is truly horrifying, looks like it has never been cleaned. Bathrooms are showing their age. The first room we checked into had a broken ac. Moved us to another room with no trouble. Staff was friendly. Would not walk on carpet in bare feet.

The carpets are in desperate need of changing

The room was much cleaner than we expected considering the worn disgusting carpet we saw as we walked up the stairs and down the hall to our room. There was a strong musty smell that hit us every time we walked in our room that I guess we adjusted to until the next time we left and came back. The AC was very loud and didn't work well unless it was running constantly. Again, besides the carpet, the room was very clean, as was the lobby area, but they would do well to rip out that carpet. The housekeeping staff was also helpful.

The staff was great. Very friendly. The room was about what you'd expect for the price. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Location for the event I was there for was very convenient.

As others have stated, the carpet is absolutely disgusting!! I wouldn’t walk around barefoot in the room. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Other than that, it was ok. For the price I wasn’t expecting much but that carpet needs to go!

Good stay, what i didnt like was able to hear people walking on the next floor.

Carpet were horrible and dirty throughout the common walkway and in the room. Too many sounds and can hear talking from neighboring rooms.

This is a older property with worn carpet in the hallways, but the rooms are clean, bed is comfy, air conditioning is cold, and showers are hot. Great deal at half then price of nearby hotels.

The best was the most uncomfortable spring mattress. The AC and fridge was so loud I could barely sleep through the night. The floor had stains all over. There was no iron or hairdryer to use.

They go the extra mile with friendliness and caring customer service that shows they are willing to accommodate you and don't just want your business but treat you better than most places for sure! The hotel was nice and was located near where I needed to be for the purpose of my stay. The hotel manager and all staff were very helpful and professional. Highly recommend this Hotel

Best customer service I’ve had in a while. Great lady at the desk and the guy that was around always ask if I needed anything and very professional unlike some hotels I have stayed in. I stay in hotels 300 plus nights a year

The lobby always smells so good. Although it is a budget hotel, the staff treats you as if it's a 5 star hotel. Everyone is so nice and helpful

The staff was very friendly. In so many places I go, they choose professionalism over friendliness. I appreciate that also, but it's different. The people here, especially David are not just helpful, but eager to help. It's very nice and I am thankful.

Terrible experience - 1st room we got the toilet was leaking. Got a new room in the 2nd floor - there is no elevator so it took us a few trips to bring our luggage up. Room had 2 double beds - very cramped. No safe in the room for valuables. Rugs very dirty. But the worst is the fact that there is not staff on property after 11pm. So around 3am all 3 nights of our stay there were people running up & down the hall, banging on doors, yelling, for over an hour plus. With no staff on property we felt very unsafe & didnt dare speak up. When coming back in the evenings, there were multiple instances of police presence at multiple locations around the hotel, lights flashing. During the day there were people hanging around the hotel having screaming fights. Did not feel lime a safe area at all. I know you get what you pay for, and for $110/night i shouldnt expect much, but safety & staff should be included at all price points. Will never stay at this property or any Coastal property ever again.

The Coastal Inn was a great place to stay for our short visit to UNCW. It was very close to the University, Downtown, and shopping. Plenty of places to eat close by as well. The staff was very courteous and attentive to our needs, always making sure everything was okay with our stay. We would definitely stay there again, and recommend The Coastal Inn to anyone wanting an economical, pleasant hotel to stay at in Wilmington.

We only stayed one night to drop our daughter off at UNCW. Property is old but redone and very clean. Clerk at desk was super nice and complimentary coffee in lobby very good. Appreciated the refrigerator in room although a hair dryer would’ve been nice. As for location, not an unsafe area but was adjacent to a drug treatment center. We didn’t encounter any issues but could see how it might be a problem.

Great price for location

Stayed here with my family for a small beach getaway. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Building could definitely use some upgrades. You can also tell that this used to be a smoking hotel as the rooms smelt like cigarettes. Saying that the rooms were clean, just a funky smell. The hotel is also next to an opioid clinic and there were some sketchy characters walking around outside at night. For the price we paid and how much time we actually spent in the room we had a pleasant stay.

best place to stay near downtown wilmington, 7 minutes from downtown, 10 from the mall, 30 from wilmington beach. loved it! staff was friendly and attentive to me and my partner’s needs.

This was my second time staying here in the last year. Listen, it’s not fancy but it is CLEAN, comfortable and affordable for a quick Wilmington stay.

15 mins away from the beach, quiet

My stay at Coastal Suites was great!! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, they had vending machines which was convenient late at night not have to drive to a gas station or somewhere else, and the staff were very friendly and always asked if we were doing good and how our stay was so far!! David at the front was amazing, super nice and made sure we had everything we needed the whole stay. 10/10 would definitely stay here again!!!!

Convenient around restaurants

My only complaint is that there was only coffee offered for breakfast. I felt safe and comfortable and the staff was pleasant!

Yes this hotel does show some signs of its age; but, the rooms were clean and the beds extremely comfortable. With the feeling of being in a safe place and the quietness of the area and hotel we were able to get a good night's rest. There is a small patio out in front of the hotel that has a grill along with several tables and chairs that provided a nice opportunity to be outside after driving for hours and meet other travelers. There are plenty of places within walking distance or a short drive to get a bite to eat as well. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again if in the area.
