Hyatt House Charleston - Historic District

We were greeted immediatly and offered free waters. Breakfast was good. Parking is expensive. We went to the pool to see brown clumps on the steps. We were not sure if it was poop, but looked exactly like it. We immediately told the front desk to be told they would take care of it. 3 hours later, it had not been cleaned. We came back the next day and there were still reminents there. The bed was awful and the shower head was extremly low. It was suppose to rain the last day so we decided to go home a day early since we didnt feel comfortable there. 10 hour drive home a day early was not what we had planned. We will definitely be finding somewhere else to stay next time.

We enjoyed the roof top bar and grill. The staff was great and the food delicious. Did not have to go out to eat as we were set to go on a buggy ride and did not wish to be late.

Swimming pool and the gym were excellent. Large and in a very good shape. Location is convenient to walk to attractions and restaurants. There are also feee buses nearby.

The staff and facilities were great. The room was clean and comfortable. The only 2 negatives i really had were that you had to pay to park and the indoor pool was really cold, but not unbearable. The kids really enjoyed it.

Great outdoor courtyard. For the holidays Eason they had mini yurts to reserve and the fires were blazing in the fireplaces outdoors to keep you warm on chilly nights

Would have been better if we had been told in advance that there was no on-site parking. The extra $50 per night for parking messed up my buget. Just because if the parking, we will not be staying here again.

The common areas were clean. My room however, was poorly cleaned. Never had a change of sheets. The breakfasts are pedantic at best. They don’t even offer regular Raisin Bran. Or, alternative milks. Just Motel 6 food. The staff was excellent and most made everyone’s stay easier. The hotel is old and tired. It needs updating especially based upon the obnoxious nightly charges.

I have stayed at many Hyatt properties and I must say I was not pleased with my stay at this location. I don’t feel the staff were very friendly. The room had hair everywhere including my ice bucket. The water pressure was horrible and made a spitting sound the entire time while showering or washing hands. The floors were very sticky in the room. I don’t feel like it was worth the money that I paid. I would not return to this location.

The room was spotless and the staff was kind.

Everything about my stay was great, except for the cleanliness of the room and more importantly the bathroom. Wasn’t enough for me to complain, but I wish the staff paid more attention to cleaning areas.

Mold in the vents, house keeping did not replace toilet paper or towels, and didn’t throw away garbage. The location was nice but the hotel it self was not pleasant.

Staff was super friendly, location was great! My only complaint is the bathroom had hair(s) from a previous guest and the pillow case on one of the beds had a weird stain on it, housekeeping replaced the pillow case after I brought it to their attention. Other than that, our stay was great!

$48 to park for one night Our shower had an empty bottle of body wash hanging on the wall, pubic hair in the shower and our room was very damp; maybe because of no fan in the bathroom.

Rooms were not the cleaniest

Our room was not clean when we arrived to it. Crumbs on the counters and floors had not been vacuumed, as evidenced by crumbs and debris in both the kitchen and bathroom. We had house keeping come on our 3 day there and the job she did was excellent, although she forgot to give us toilet paper. On day 5 we went to use silverware and there was still food on the knife from someone else. Parking was extremely expensive, $48 a day. The front desk told us if we had a handicap number we could park free. Having this saved us over $500 in parking. Thank you for letting us know this.

The location is great and rooms were clean. However, the rooms at this location are out dated and not as nice as other Hyatt Place's I have stayed at. Apparently they are about to undergo a renovation so hopefully the rooms will be brought up to par with other Hyatt Place properties.

The place was great except for the shower. There was barely any pressure and little hot water. We did choose not to complain at the hotel as we didn't want anyone in our room checking things.

Had to change room after first night due a/c issue TV needed replacement and 3 lamps required bulbs in new room. Valet service was excellent.

We loved the King suite with the separate bedroom and full kitchen. We would give 5 stars if the pull-out bed in the sofa were comfortable but it was not. Also, we did not like the barn door on the bathroom - it would not latch easily or stay closed. The hotel was clean, the king bed was comfortable, the showere pressure was great, there were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

We had a couple of minor issues in our room. The shower doors didn’t work properly. 1 sliding door wouldn’t move to close correctly. The TV had major screen issues. There was a matrix of dots in the middle of screen. We did try to watch a movie, but it was terrible. Room 509. We ‘lost the signal’ several times while watching Nickelodeon- not even streaming. We couldn’t get the temperature below 72, which is too warm for sleeping

The AC in our room took forever to cool, also the shower head was not good as well

Great, clean hotel nestled in a popular dining area, I recommend a high floor option for views of the Cooper River Bridge.

The hvac system was dated and very loud. We also could not see the tv from the sofa, it was set to be viewed from the kitchen area.

My family and I had such a poor experience at the Hyatt hotel in Charleston. It started when we tried to check in. They had poor customer service on the phone. Initially, the lady had hung up on us. The second time we called back, they gave us attitude and told us to call back around 1300. The third time we called back, she was extremely short, stating that the reason we couldn’t see that we were already checked in was because we used Expedia. I asked about obtaining an itemized receipt, she advised me to simply take a screenshot of the charges that were sent to my phone. I was questioning why I was being overcharged, and there was confusion because there was a pre-charge early in May. A lot of the charge issues could’ve been handled had I gotten an itemized receipt copy, but she would not provide me with one. When I left, I realized I did not get room cards. She said that she did give them to me, but I must’ve lost them. I never found them throughout the trip, because she did not give them to me. At the end of the trip was another terrible experience with Geoffrey. We were trying to check out around 4 a.m. in order to make our travel home. And we did not get a check-out email. Upon approaching him, he was immediately disgruntled. We said that we were here to check out, and he told us that he was busy doing audits. I then had to ask him how long the audits would take. He responded, I don’t know, maybe about 20 minutes. This is unacceptable, especially with flights.

Slow check in. Slow valet. Wrong room. Attitude at counter. Generally poor service.

To start I live staying at Hyatt but THIS location was unique. They had the worse customer service in valet, housekeeping and at times, the front desk. The areas that stood out for great customer service was the restaurant during breakfast and the Tap Room on the roof and Jay, the Concierge. The valet was the worse if ever seen. They made you come to them and don't need help with your bags, not happening. Housekeeping would "clean" the room but never vaccumed and never refilled the body wash so we ran out while showering. But it's in a great location, Rooms are great, it's quiet and it's within walking distance of some great restaurants, bars and shopping.

We used a car service transportation service from and to Charleston Airport. Uber to & from Plantation. Walked around most of the Historic District from the Hotel, a 30 minute walk to almost any where in historic district. Many casual & nice dining restaurants nearby. Only concern is we were charged a Daily Valet Service for 2 days for never having a car. Disheartening for a great trip & location until we were at airport reviewing our invoice. Called front desk and issue was supposedly resolved, only to realize 2 weeks later they recharged me for the valet parking.

Our room was not available on time. Front desk manager was not helpful or accomodating.

Staff was bad, our check in was more than 2 hours after check in time. They didn’t give us a late checkout. Only good thing was location and room size.

It is a little further north on King st than we wanted. Other wise it is a nice hotel.

The Hyatt is in a great location if you want to walk a lot of Charleston. It is about half an hour walk from the waterfront. There are a lot of different restaurants and bars on the street that it is located. The staff was very friendly and I would definitely stay here again if I return someday!

We travel to Charleston 5-6 times per year for business and to visit family/friends as well. This was our first time staying at the Hyatt Place and we will return! The parking garage is located immediately adjacent to the hotel which is great. The hotel is steps away from the great restaurants on upper King but because it is set back off of King it is quiet. The staff was very friendly, professional and helpful.

Great location on the north end of King Street; nice rooms, friendly staff and the breakfasts are fabulous as we start each day.

Check-in & check-out were quick and easy, room was clean & quiet, and location was an easy walk to restaurants and historic sites.

The breakfast menu was sub-par. The selections were few and the quality could be better. The room was fine.

Very comfortable, clean stay. Nice to have a full kitchen. Staff was friendly and several always interacted with us often, very helpful too. Bus stop for the free trolley was across the street. One thing we did not enjoy was the turkey bacon/sausage offered at breakfast. The brand was not good. That is the only complaint we have.

The price for parking is outrageous. We spent $49 for about 20 hours. The complimentary breakfast contained many options. However, everything was tepid to cold. Very unappetizing.

It was an enjoyable stay, convenient for most things. Young lady on afternoon reception extremely helpful when I was feeling unwell. Breakfast left a bit to be desired. All frozen fruit only sweet plain yogurt and high sugar packaged cereal. The evening buffet was good also the dinner on Thursday evening.

Very nice hotel and good location. Breakfast was really good. The Rooftop bar was amazing. The hotel lobby staff were not very friendly. You have to pay for parking (this added over $35 to a one-night stay.
