A very comfortably stay. Room was large with a excellent size of bathroom. Room service was excellent as well. A lovely bar area with a great atmosphere . Every good hotel should have a Dave on the bar he was so attentive and made the best calypso coffee you've ever tasted. First class guy.

Great place to stay in Bath. Just outside the hubbub of the city, but very much walkable to the main attractions. Would definitely stay here again. Pay for parking at hotel, or public pay parking very close. It's old, but that's the charm!! Great bar/lounge on first floor, made yummy drinks and loved the local cider. Didn't eat at the restaurant though. Near market as well.

Great location for all amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful Parking could be better only a few spaces which has to be booked in advance. However, there are lots of car park one can use for overnight parking at a reasonable price.

Very close to city centre and across from the train and bus stations. Breakfast very good with plenty of choice. Staff very friendly and helpful. Single room had space for table and chair. Coffee, tea water and biscuits provided in the room. Has a bar lounge.It is an old building so some damage noticeable.

The property is close to city, bus and train stations. It is an old property so there is a lot of road noise even when the windows are closed. The floors are very squeaky and noise from the hallways also makes it into the room. There is no air con so at night when the windows are closed (to stop the road noise) it gets very hot. A fan is supplied. We booked a car park and arrived early evening and there was only one park available and it was very difficult to get into. Glad we had a small car.

We were very delighted and surprised with the size, comfort, furnishings and decorations of of our room. King bed was a nice break from the Queen in London. Bath. Staff ver friendly and helpful. Right across the street from the train station, and easy block walk from the bus depot. All kinds of nearby restaurants, shopping and sights like the Roman baths and river. We had a very nice breakfast in restaurant on the ground floor of the Royal. Had supper in the comfy little pub there too. No complaints, just right for our short stay to see Bath.

The hotel is very old and smells terrible in the common areas. The hotel has not been kept up. The room itself didn’t smell as bad, but the furniture was cheap and unattractive. Bathroom was acceptable at best. Bed was comfortable with clean bedding. Not a room you look forward to coming back to at the end of the day. Would not stay again.

Convenient for the two Stations/Theatre/Shops. Hotel was very clean. Front if house service was exceptional. Swift service from two people serving in the bar. Food was nicely prepared and reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent. Again staff were excellent despite it being very busy. Would definitely visit again.

The hotel is very clean and the staff were very helpful. I needed to leave early and they gave me a breakfast bag. The hotel faces the station so it is busy round it but there was no noise in my room. I definitely stay there again.

Although great location and great staff, we didn't really understand the super high ratings unless you really like old school retro-hotels.The shower tray had mold, and the thermostat was ancient. It usually took about five minutes before any hot water came out. The beds were more springs than mattresses. The window was old and almost gave me a hernia to open. There was no space left at breakfast. The atmosphere and location made up for a lot, and we did sleep. Also, the nearby breakfastoptions (cafe au lait and Cortado cafe) were so good that we didn't actually mind not having breakfast at the hotel. But yes, if we ever need a place in Bath again, we'll look elsewhere, with apologies to the very friendly staff.

The condition of the room was below par, the shower was poor flow, the shower head could not be directed away so that we didn't have to wet our hair each time. There was black mould in the shower and the finish of the filler was really bad. The step out of the shower was very slippery and needs an anti slip covering of some sort. The beds were very comfortable and the room warm.

This hotel has a lovely location and could be a wonderful gem in Bath. The woman who checked us in was so gracious and wonderful. We arrived at our room (107) and the bedding and bathroom were spotless. The room smelled strongly of Clorox or some very strong cleanser. The room is in serious need of good maintenance. The wallpaper is peeling up in multiple places. The carpet is loose, the caulk is gross on the step to the shower. There is a weird gap in the bathroom ceiling with an open chasm of cobwebs. We had to ask for help because our bedside light and several outlets were not powered, despite flipping the on button beside it. When we expressed concerns to the man who was working the front desk he came up and fixed it, but was extremely dismissive to our other concerns. In the end, the bed was relatively comfortable, with quality sheets and comforter. I think I would be content with this hotel for a lower rate, but thought the price value was way off for $225/night. This was our second stay in bath- and we found the Bird Bath to be a much superior hotel, for a similar rate.

We had a lovely time during our stay at The Royal Hotel in Bath. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful and comfortable, and very clean. We loved the bath robes provided! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience at your beautiful hotel!

It's a lovely old place to stay. The staff is courteous and helpful. It feels safe and it was fairly quiet but for the gulls who make a fuss all night. My room was fairly small, but the bathroom was large enough. I had some trouble with hot water, and because of the heat it was troublesome to sleep. There's no AC, which makes sense given the location, but if you are staying in summer hopefully they can start providing some fans to create airflow. The bed wasn't terribly comfortable. The room was otherwise very clean and room service did a great job on my second day. If you plan to travel by rail or bus, this is a fantastic place to stay. I needed to be at Heathrow early on a Sunday morning and that's difficult from most cities. The Royal is directly across from the train station and the bus depot making it very convenient. It's a lovely walk to downtown and there's a shopping center next door, as well.

Very close to station and an easy walk to shops and pubs. Aside from a really creaky floor, the room was quiet and although the hotel was overheated, our room had opening windows for fresh air. TV was a bit small but Wifi was good. Could do with some modernising but our stay was pleasant.

The room was just okay. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. The location is wonderful for walking and we didn’t notice any extra noise from the train station across the street. Note that hot water seems to empty out by 9:00 am.

staff were very welcoming but were eager for us to leave promptly. service wasn't good, at breakfast i asked for a few things and had to prompt staff that i had ordered it. the room was anticlimactic and i thought that having spent £140 on the room that it would be fancier, but it was simplistic and didnt have much to it. however the bed was very comfortable and i slept really well, it was quiet and i enjoyed Bath very much as a city.

Great location. Unfortunately we weren’t given 20% of food and beverage as stated in booking. The Manager stated it was only food. The facilities lists a laundry, which they don’t have. The beds a doubles and ours was very hard. Mike (I think was the manager) was very abrupt and rude. All the other staff were lovely.

The hotel is of historical interest, old, next to the train station and in need of some attention in areas. The decor is looking tired in all areas we saw. In our room the bath sides have come away and need fixing, the pipes emit a squeal that could get very loud. It was quirky to begin with, but got a little annoying after a while. The bathroom floor was very slippering after showering. I was woken at 4am by the sound of the lift and banging doors. Other than that the hotel is fine and comfortable. On checking out the staff member seemed dissinterested and was not interested in whether or not we enjoyed our stay. Check in was fine and other staff members were friendly and engaging.

The room was musty and smelly. They gave me a plug in but it was ineffective; the smell is overwhelming and probably from the dampness in carpet. On day 2 there was no water in my room. Not a drop for several hours. The reception was totally unhelpful in offering any help.

A modern bathroom with excellent water pressure. Howe er the bed was a double bed with an uncomfortable old fashioned mattress. The restaurant was limited in its ability to handle all residents staying at the hotel. For example registering at 3 pm resulted in breakfast the following day being already booked out. Going down for dinner they had to ask to ‘squeeze’ us in.

A lovely hotel, very welcoming and perfect for our short stay in Bath. Very close to the station but not affect by train noise and just a few minutes’ walk to the Roman Baths, Thermae Spa and other attractions. Highly recommend.

It was a well-placed hotel (near the train station, not very loud at night) and incredibly comfortable. After a long train journey it was really nice to arrive and find tea and biscuits in my room so I could sort myself. I have to give thanks to Andrea at the front desk who was especially helpful with a few questions, and when they couldn't fit me in for breakfast, suggested the near by restaurant Cafe au Lait (which may be my new favourite breakfast/brunch spot) I slept well, and was able to get a lot of writing done. I may claim it as an ideal spot for a writing retreat. This is a hotel with character so they warn you that it may take a minute or two for water to heat up, and the lift takes a bit of time BUT it does get you to your floor. Yes you get to hear the bells ring from the nearby Abbey.

The staff was wonderful. Breakfast was very good. The bed was a little soft for my preference. And my shower was tiny. It was so convenient to the rail station and for walking around Bath.
