The loud ads a the pool were the only negative. Overall, awesome.

Everything was excellent. The one draw back is the pool area did not have enough umbrellas for the intense heat and sun of late July/August.

Great hotel in the middle of downtown Charleston. Very walkable area. Rooms were quiet and beds were comfortable. Valet parking rate at $60 a night is our only compliant. I think its way too much to charge guests $60 a night for parking and then have to add gratuities on top of that. We liked the hotel and choose it because it also had a pool, restaurant, bar and mini market. We did use all of those and we enjoyed those amenities.

Room and staff are great. Only had two full days/nights access to pool due to being closed 5 times for private events. If I’m paying full room rate should be credited back somehow for being blocked out. Housekeeper was great!

Fantastic location with all the hotspots within walking distance. Loved the poolside patio...both for morning coffee and evening relaxing. Parking garage attached to the hotel as an alternative to the $60 valet was perfect since we didn't need our car (no in/out access). $10/food credit per day was usable at both the bar and cafe was nice, too.

The whole property is lovely, the cafe and restaurant have delicious food and competent servers. Ample menu and easy to get a table. Beds comfortable. Front desk staff friendly and helpful, seemed a bit stressed during busiest part of the day. Mihir and Aldain at the pool area were very hospitable and took good care of us. For the amount spent, would have loved the pool to be heated and a hot tub. The pool area women's bathroom faucet wasnt working. Wish they would add some spa services too! Overrall lovely stay and great location.

Great central location—easy walk to museums, restaurants, and shops. Our first night was rough due to loud neighbors in an adjoining room, but switching rooms helped. The new room occasionally had a sewer smell in the bathroom. The pool area was also frustrating—too few lounge chairs for the number of guests.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, with recent upgrades and all the amenities. The pool was closed on Sunday afternoon for a private party, which was disappointing. However, upon commenting to desk staff, we were fairly compensated for the loss of pool access. Definitely would return.

Hotel located well! Very nice facility. Staff was great. Housekeeper was outstanding. Only hang up was limited pool access due to several private events keeping fully paid patrons from using at peak hours.

Hotel is amazing! Cool history all around. Walking distance to historic sites, shopping and food. Only thing that was a bummer was the shower would go on and off. We were staying on the 7th floor so probably just not enough water pressure to supply the whole hotel. Other than that it was comfortable and cool!

The location was perfect for seeing all that Charleston has to offer. The hotel itself was nice from the dinning to lobby. The pool was small but still nice to have for the hot days. It was a bit dirty with scum on the side of it. Also the room was smaller than what was showed in the picture but we didn’t spend a lot of time in it so not that big of deal. The carpet in our room was ripped up in a few areas, which exposed the nail strips. My wife and I stepped on this which didn’t feel great. Given the price we paid, I would have expected better. Also the hotel added in resort fees which was not mentioned until we checked out. I am not a fan of hidden fees, so not impressed by that. In short, a nice hotel with great location, but when you have a high price tag, my expectations are high…it fell short in that regard.

The location is perfect for a visit to the Historic District of Charleston; however, there is a sewer smell in the vents of the AC at night in our 6th floor room.

I recently stayed at the Mills House Charleston, and unfortunately, my experience was not up to expectations. The room lacked adequate soundproofing. I could clearly hear conversations and movements from the corridor and the adjacent room, which disrupted my rest. More concerning was that I woke up with multiple itchy bites, which I suspect may have been from bed bugs. I did not report this to the hotel staff at the time, but I believe it’s important to share this experience so that management can investigate and address any potential issues. While the hotel’s location and historic charm are appealing, these issues significantly impacted my stay.

Wonderful stay at the hotel. Clean and attractive hotel. The front desk was very helpful with any questions we had . They even accommodated us for a later check out because our flight wasn’t until later on. The cafe in the hotel was also nice to grab a drink or a quick breakfast before heading out for the day . The hotel is centrally located to everything and made getting places easier . The pool at the hotel is also very nice to relax at .

We enjoyed our stay while dropping our son off at College. The rooms are smaller than they appear and the pool was a bit dirty but not overly crowded which was nice. Rooms where clean and location was excellent.

Loved just about everything. My room was comfortable, the coffee shop was fabulous, and I’ve never been one to turn down champagne when offered. But the 2nd floor was musty smelling. Like, seriously musty when I first went to my room. Eventually I saw staff working on carpets, but not before I was concerned about mold and asthma concerns. Luckily, my room had open to outside windows, so I was able to get some fresh air.

Clean, pretty building, boutique-like, great customer service, nice pool, close to everything. Very happy.

For $500 a night I was expecting a little more from the staff and hotel. Upon check-in we were handed our room key without a noted room number. This was discovered after we got to the elevator with our luggage. I went back to the front desk to inquire about our room number and it took a minute to find us in the system and share the information. Once we got to our room we noticed no hand soap in the bathroom. Again this was corrected quickly, but another annoyance after being at the hotel for only 20 minutes. Pool/roof top is very nice. That said, the single unit men’s bathroom has no lock. Which was bizarre to say the least. In room TV is old fashioned. No selectable guide or option to stream. Overall without the pool/roof top I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at this price point. There are better options.

Really great stay. Great location, friendly staff, would stay again. Bathroom in room not very private, frosted sliding glass door. This was not an issue for us.

the location was very accessible to the historic tour we had booked and many restaurants and small shops. Very pretty downtown area. the room was small and had2-3 steps from entrance up to sleeping area. this concerned me as a safety hazard at night

Fun hotel, good location for walkable tourist spots and restaurants. Friendly staff and clean. Only negative was our air conditioner, as it took a long time to cool even with escalating to front desk and facilities to check out.

Rooms are a little bit small but the hotel is very nice

We have stayed in this hotel many times thru the years…love everything about it with one exception. The glass barn door in the bathroom is very poor! It provides very little privacy, light shines thru it at night, very noisy. We would love ti see this change.

The property was charming and well situated in the city. Our tub shower dripped constantly, which was annoying and the adjoining room door was very thin, so the obnoxious family in the room next to us sounded like they were in our room. Otherwise, would certainly stay here again!

The hotel was a great place to stay for every need you have to be in Charleston. We enjoyed our stay very much with an exception of our room being at the elavators. Unfortunately there was a lot of noise coming and going. Other than that we would stay there again.

The Mills House is a beautiful hotel (particularly the lobby and outdoor spaces) and super walkable/ conveniently located in scenic Charleston. Unfortunately, it was one of the loudest hotels I’ve stayed in. While there wasn’t much sound from outside, every sound in the hall and neighboring rooms was extremely loud. You could hear every word of every conversation all night long. Additionally, the bed wasn’t great. Our stay was ok, based on convenience and location but I wouldn’t stay here again because it wasn’t quiet or relaxing in any way.

Leaving a 1 star review because the hotel called us an hour before we were going to check in telling us they didn’t have a room for us because there was a leak in the ceiling and their hotel was booked.

Absolutely outstanding customer service. Everybody from the desk staff to the cleaning team to the amenities personnel was committed to make our stay perfect. The room was beautiful and very comfortable and the hotel location can hardly be better, very close to most of the historical sites and best restaurants and shopping areas in town. Parking was easy and the amenities were in excellent shape. Great job overall by the hotel team!

The property itself was fine--in the historic district near shops and restaurants, nice hotel and room, etc. But upon checking in, our room keys didn't work. I went down to the desk and was given new keys, which also didn't work. At this point we were about to be late for a dinner reservation, and rather than giving us a new room, they had us wait outside our door for 10 more minutes for engineering to show up. We had to get ready for dinner while the engineering guy tried to fix our door, with the door open. Then, for the rest of the weekend, every single time we used our key, it didn't work and we'd have to wait for engineering. The engineering guy was rude and smug, and every time his staff bracelet worked, he would say, "it works" and didn't allow us to show him that our keys didn't work while he looked at us like we were idiots (I've stayed in hundreds of hotels; this was not user error). He wouldn't look at our keys and just told us: "Problem? Front desk" and walked away. Finally, the evening before we were about to check out, we were offered a new room, but at that point, I did not want to pack all of my things before dinner only to unpack them again and repack in the morning. It was frustrating and stressful every time I needed to get into my room. We should have been offered a new room off the bat, or given a discount or a comped night or something, because I literally spent hours waiting to get into my room over the course of our stay.

Absolutely loved our stay at Mills House. It's in a great location and makes walking to the market, for a carriage ride, the pineapple fountain, rainbow row, King street and everything else we came to do so easy! The staff is wonderful!! Especially the night crew ! Alex was just so warm and welcoming when we would come back each night. Dwight the manager was extremely helpful with questions and made check out easy. The Black Door Café was great for coffee in the morning and although the weather was overcast during our stay we did get a few peaks of sun and enjoyed the 2nd floor patio, bar and pool area. The complimentary champagne was a pleasant surprise when we came back from a day out and about too. The Rebecca Illustrated store is just so special and has has the cutest everything pink inside!!! I would highly recommend Mills House.

Staff at hotel was not friendly and not flexible. They would not honor a late check out even though I paid for 3 rooms. The most they would do is an extra hour on a single room. Won’t be back.

We absolutely loved staying at Mills House! The staff was amazing. There were nice amenities like a coffee shop, restaurant and a very nice pool bar! We will definitely be back!

Superb service and the hotel is spotless! Great assistance on planing events. The bed is super comfortable. Each employee there were very friendly professional and knowledgeable about what to do. Great perks as well! Definitely in a great area to walk to see everything. Concierge a 10.

Although, for the most part, this was a nice property it lacked helful information at the front desk (no one told us we needed the key card to operate the elevator. We weren’t the only ones who had to figure it out on our own). Quite frankly the front desk people were not overly friendly and seemed to be bothered whenever we had a question or needed help.Nor was there any information in the rooms(No area information, no helpful tv instructions, no check out time information.Housekeeping was inconsistent on a daily basis. No attention to detail (they had not adjusted the clocks for the time change) The valet staff and hotel ambassador were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The food was great, although the service was lacking for our dinner.

Worst experience! Over charged. Paid in full and received extra charges along with a valet charge when I didn’t even have a car. told i was getting additional $30/day.

This was my first time visiting Charleston, and I was impressed! Once I was off the plane, I noticed how beautiful and clean the airport was. I was driven to The Mills House by a very nice and knowledgeable gentleman, who gave me a brief history of Charleston. Once inside The Mills House, it was heavenly, thanks to the amazing staff. I enjoyed coffee at The Black Door Cafe, which offers breakfast options, sweets/treats, smoothies, affogato, and lunch options to eat there or take on the go. The Iron Horse restaurant had a great bar and delicious dinner options. There is a beautiful outside garden to sit in and a nice pool with food options too! And NO, I don't work for the hotel :) One last thing: every afternoon, for an hour or a bit longer, champagne is available in the lobby area for all guests who want to indulge, and you can enjoy plenty of refills if you want to be the winner! Just in case I didn't say enough about the staff, everyone was WONDERFUL!

Our stay was great. Only negative was the Iron Rose. Had dinner the first night and that was fair. Tried to do brunch Sunday but they were not very accommodating. Went somewhere else down the street.

Lovely Property. Easy access to local dining and shopping as well as historic areas. Fun pool bar on the premises. We will be staying again next time we visit Charleston.
