Really great hotel for a competitive price. Recieved an upgrade on the room and free valet parking is hard to beat. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, had a good restaurant and coffe shop within hotel. The gym was larger and better than most that I've been in. This is so far my favorite Charlston hote.

Comfortable and quiet room. Great staff. Excellent coffee shop adjoining the lobby. Free espresso coffee machines and water fountains in corridors was a nice treat. Walkable to attractions. Note that there is an event space that creates a lot of noise in an internal courtyard - if your room faces that area you could get evening noise.

The hotel is very nice. Our room view was of the outside courtyard. All lit up in Christmas decor. Unfortunately we did not get to enjoy much of the property amenities as we just needed a place to stay after a work holiday party downtown. The only complaint is the parking. Valet is $55/night. On street is free only until 5am. Was not going to get up that early to move my car. And the parking garage a block away was not operating so we parked in another garage three blocks away.

The property was beautiful. I loved the coffee machines on each floor and the gym was lovely. The location is within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants and historical landmarks. We had very rainy weather while visiting and they even had plenty of large umbrellas for guests to use.

Absolutely beautiful hotel but was so disappointed once we got to our room. Little tiny bug things in our room that we're so annoying and pulled back bed and found stained sheets!!! We were SO upset... didn't expect this from such a nice hotel. We travel all the time and don't see stained sheets! VERY disappointed!

Very nice hotel. Enjoyed my stay with a few exceptions. It was nice to have a Nespresso coffee maker on each floor. The water station was nice too. One problem with the coffee maker was that it was not working on any level one of the 3 days I was staying. Not sure if they have a plumbing problem, but the smell at the door of my room was not pleasant, but luckily did not permeate to the room area. We had breakfast in the hotel one of the mornings, and it was delicious. I added 2 eggs onto my order and I feel like the hotel took advantage of patrons by charging $9.00 for the 2 eggs. The hotel is in the heart of the city, close to all the sights. Easily walkable.

Our room consistently smelled like sewage. The brick hallway/ corridor connecting the rooms to the front desk area also consistently smell of sewage. Hostess at Frannie and the Fox asked me to wait after picking up take out pizza for over 7 minutes while she chatted with another staff member around the corner. By the time I got back to my room the pizza was cold. Bikes were great - nice to ride around with when exploring. Two men at front desk were exceptional- professional and informative. Women were not that friendly at check in. Check out woman with accent and very red lipstick couldn't answer basic questions someone had to step in to answer my questions at check out. Room was clean but smelled of sewage all the time. Should have been told at check in that window faced a brick wall two feet away. Very claustrophobic feeling.

This hotel has so much potential! It’s in the best part of Charleston; so close to the water, very walkable, a great restaurant inside (Frannie and the Fox). However it’s just not clean. Our room was cute, but gross. The toilet little plastic things that cover bolts on the back of toilet were broken off, there was noticeable dinginess on the baseboards, and we had 2 ROACHES in our room on the last day. We didn’t spend much time in the room the other days so I’m guessing there were more. We did mention it to the front desk, but they were just grossed out and didn’t offer any sort of accommodation. The workout is truly gross.. it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. If this place could get its cleaning act together it could be 5 star.

Absolutely loved the Emeline. Great style, comfortable rooms, really thought about things to keep the guests happy (like great coffee machines, tea, sparkling water, and fruit on each level). Our room hadn't been cleaned properly beforehand (clothes left in it, etc.) and yet I still thought it was a very clean, awesome hotel otherwise.

The staff were nice but the hotel was loud all the time. Our room was dark and kind of small, and we could hear everything outside in the courtyard (people drinking/wedding reception). I’m sure it’s because the building is old but I didn’t sleep well hearing every conversation and door close.

It was very close to most places we wanted to visit. We like the convenience of filtered water and bags of ice on each floor. The only real issue was the amount of noise you could hear from outside even on the 4th floor. Maybe because of the age of the building.

The hotel has so much charm! Wonderful atmosphere and so close to all things downtown Charleston! Our room was extremely small and beside loud ac units. Those are the only things keeping me from giving an Excellent rating! We will be back!

Unique hotel, friendly staff and great location. Complementary water and fruit was a nice touch. The restaurant and coffee shop were both good and the restaurant had a beautiful patio area. On the negative side, our room faced the street and was quite noisy, even in the middle of the night.

Beautiful hotel. Pleasant from the moment we checked in. We were greeted at door with luggage cart and provided refreshments at check in. Two king bedrooms with living room was perfect for our family of 5. Bathroom was spacious and a plus that toilet had separate door (this is a huge plus for families all trying to get ready at the same time). Location was perfect- walking distance to market, King Street shopping, and a ton of great restaurants. Hotel had a great restaurant, coffee shop, and outdoor fireplace at night to relax. I highly recommend!

Perfect location right in the heart of downtown Charleston. Plenty of restaurant spots in the area, and the restaurant/bar on-site is great. Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and modern. Only small complaint is that our mattress was pretty worn, so there wasn't much support for our back. Probably time for them to upgrade those mattresses so it doesn't feel like you're sleeping in a hole. Otherwise, it was a great experience; we'll return!

Liked location and facilities. Had multiple problems with this stay. Problems with reservations, housekeeping, billing, lack of toiletries, toiletries never refilled or replaced after use, had to ask 2 times for toilet paper, room not cleaned at all for one night of our stay and no fresh towels left, had to ask 3 times for a blanket, not provided room we had booked, told not available until next day, went to one room for that first night and then no tv and no internet, got moved in wee hours to the room we had indeed reserved.

We arrived at the hotel at about 11:00 on a Friday night. The hotel was still bustling but no one came out to help us with our car or our bags. We had to go to the front desk to find a valet and when he did come, he wasn’t friendly and never offered even a cart for our bags or to help us with them. The man at check in was pleasant and the welcome cocktail was nice. The hotel, the amenities (coffee and water bar on every floor, welcome cocktail, multiple restaurants, refillable water bottles in the rooms), and the central location to everything were wonderful but the service all around left a lot to be desired. When we checked out, the valet brought our bags out of the lock up room and just put them in the lobby. We had to drag them out and load them in our car on our own. In conclusion, we loved the hotel but were very disappointed with the service.

This is always one of my favorite stays in Charleston. Amazing location, clean and spacious rooms with great amenities, and the staff is always pleasant. The coffee shop in the lobby has become one of My favorites in town. Well worth the price when it’s a bit higher to be right in the middle of everything with modern amenities.

Always a challenge with the front desk to get the VIP benefits. You always have to remind them or they will overcharge you. And their new policy to charge $100 if you try to check in before 2 o’clock, even if the room is ready is really a poor decision. Questionable VIP hotel!!

After having dinner in the hotel restaurant, Frannie and Fox, I went up to my room and key cards didn’t work. I ended up waiting 45 minutes for front desk employee to try to open and finally the engineer was called “ just in time “ and he worked to finally get me into my room. I was given new cards and went in for the night. My son, who owns an art gallery on Queen, graciously surprised me with an extra night. He was told everything was taken care of, I would not have to change rooms and I was very excited. The next day, I spent most of the day with my son, then came back to my room to get ready for dinner and could not get into my room. I went down to the front desk, was told that I had not properly signed in and was given a new set of key cards. They didn’t work. I went back down to the front desk, was given another set of key cards and they also did not work. I went back downstairs and when I asked if my belongings were still in my room, told they did not know. The lady at the front desk finally got a master key, and thankfully my belongings were still in the room. I had called my son by this time and had decided to leave but was told that my son he would not be reimbursed because they offered me another room as a solution, which I did not ask for, therefore wasn’t a solution for me. I ended up packing, moved to another room, went to dinner. Got back, people were everywhere and a fire truck was there. But the key card worked. The employees were nice. Manager, not so much

Beautiful hotel. Pleasant from the moment we checked in. We were greeted at door with luggage cart and provided refreshments at check in. Two king bedrooms with living room was perfect for our family of 5. Bathroom was spacious and a plus that toilet had separate door (this is a huge plus for families all trying to get ready at the same time). Location was perfect- walking distance to market, King Street shopping, and a ton of great restaurants. Hotel had a great restaurant, coffee shop, and outdoor fireplace at night to relax. I highly recommend!

Perfect location right in the heart of downtown Charleston. Plenty of restaurant spots in the area, and the restaurant/bar on-site is great. Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and modern. Only small complaint is that our mattress was pretty worn, so there wasn't much support for our back. Probably time for them to upgrade those mattresses so it doesn't feel like you're sleeping in a hole. Otherwise, it was a great experience; we'll return!

Excellent location. Superb service by Chico at front desk and Rebecca in restaurant. Food, drinks, pizza delicious. Inconvenient no food between 2:00 to 5:00. Have stayed here multiple times. Hotel still needs to significantly improve the housekeeping in the rooms in several respects. Benefits of stay this time outweighed drawbacks of housekeeping and limited dining hours.

Very nice hotel. Enjoyed my stay with a few exceptions. It was nice to have a Nespresso coffee maker on each floor. The water station was nice too. One problem with the coffee maker was that it was not working on any level one of the 3 days I was staying. Not sure if they have a plumbing problem, but the smell at the door of my room was not pleasant, but luckily did not permeate to the room area. We had breakfast in the hotel one of the mornings, and it was delicious. I added 2 eggs onto my order and I feel like the hotel took advantage of patrons by charging $9.00 for the 2 eggs. The hotel is in the heart of the city, close to all the sights. Easily walkable.
