Dog Friendly- The Retreat at Cochetopa

We had a great time at this beautiful place nestled in the mountains. Unfortunately, the hot water was out and we weren’t able to shower over the weekend. The heating for the house requires hot water for the floor so it could be a bit chilly at times. Thank goodness for the fireplace! A few other small things could be addressed to truly make the Retreat at Cochetopa remarkable!

House was as described, and private stream and pond in back, with acres of property to roam and backed up to national forest land. Great for hikers and adventurers and people who like to get out and roam mother nature! Secluded, private, and awesome and amazing view of the stars far away from city lights! Hot tub was actually hot, unlike many other hot tubs. A little low on water, but other than that, very relaxing and therapeutic on the back deck with glorious scenic views! We would definitely stay here again, and it is professionally managed with very responsive and timely help and assistance with any questions or needs.

Perfect place to relax and feel like you have the whole mountain to yourself. The pond and stream are very comforting. Hiking trails all over the property are great! The house itself is very beautiful, and has everything you need and more.

This is a great place to come and get away from it all. It’s located within 15 min of downtown Salida. The house in the yard are absolutely beautiful. There is a pond and some trails to explore and the views are stunning. We had a wonderful time here! The inside of the home is beautiful and the kitchen has everything you need to make a nice family dinner. Thank you!

This home is absolutely stunning! Thankful this host opened it up to others. The scenery and accomodations were incredible. Beautifully decorated, well stocked kitchen (and not junk), and comfy befs. We stayed with our 14 month old pup and I cant tell who loved it more! He would shake his tail in pure joy every time we came back from an adventure. Close to town and a plethora of attractions. We loved visiting the llamas and hot tub every evening it wasnt raining Just an amazing place and wonderful time.. Can't wait to return!

We stayed at the Retreat at Cochetopa over Christmas and it was perfect! The house is well appointed, homey and spacious yet very cozy. We loved cooking in the chef’s kitchen and having a fire every night. The hot tub was a treat. The best part was the gorgeous, expansive property! My dog and I loved going for long walks and exploring in the snow! The property manager was very responsive and eager to help. We had such a lovely holiday and look forward to another stay in the future!

Wonderful home and location. Perfect for our family. The tankless hot water and radiant floor heat went out the second day we were there. Pinon Vacation Rentals/Mgmt were extremely helpful and moved us to another location that was just as nice. Also highly recommend the grocery pickup they offer. Special thank you to Amanda, Molly and all the wonderful ladies on the management team.

The house was a good size with open concept, and had everything we needed for a cozy weekend mountain retreat with our dogs. Hot tub, pond in the backyard that is fed by a sweet little mountain stream that gives the sound and sight of running water, Mountain View, hiking trails, indoor fireplace/outdoor fire pits, board games, a nice eclectic collection of books, starlink WiFi, Roku tv we didn’t use, and all the necessities. Management company was super efficient and easy to work with. We also had a small issue with the hot tub and maintenance was there within the hour, and fixed it immediately. House is 10 minutes away from everything you need… Coffee, booze, groceries, restaurants. 20 minutes away from downtown Salida. We would definitely stay here again.

The house and property is breathtaking! The WiFi is spotty but I didn’t mind bc it got 3 teenagers actually playing board games and watching movies with us. It’s a great place to unplug and enjoy the views, they are amazing and the house is well equipped with hot tub towels, games, binoculars to look at the stars or spot animals on the ridge line, plates etc and complimentary hot cocoa. We’d definitely go back (even just to get the teens off their devices and to actually spend time with us again😅😉) highly recommend!

This property was perfectly isolated, clean, and serene that left me with the sense of calm that I needed.

The property, check in and information provided was very above average. We wanted for nothing. Artfully decorated, comfortable beds, plenty of towels. You can hear the stream all night. Perfection. Fall aspen time you’d have gold! (Road in is not great for low cars)

Property was perfect for a relaxing getaway! The views from the entire back side of the house were amazing and I can’t imagine how cool it is in the summer!

My friends and our kids had a great stay here while skiing Monarch. Well described property and well stocked. Only issue I has was the wi fi - it has wi fi but as mentioned in the listing, it is very unreliable. I wasn’t able to check emails and work which was actually kind of nice. But just want people to know who work on vacation, this isn’t the place for that! But lots of games and movies to keep our teenagers occupied.

The home was gorgeous, well stocked, and check in was seamless. Great base for exploring Salida and skiing. My only request/complaint is that the beds weren't very comfortable. It would be nice to have a king size bed in the guest rooms, particularly the master.

The property is set back into the trees with fantastic views of the mountains and wildlife. Had no issues with getting in or lacating the property. Perfect location for a secluded stay but close to Monarch and Salida. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need and the living area was super cozy. Huge windows make is very picturesque during the day, especially of its snowing! Lots of space for a good sized family. We loved it and will definitely be coming back!

House was great. The setting was very peaceful and it was a relaxing spot to enjoy the evenings after a day of skiing.

Amazing secluded home perfect for a weekend getaway in the mountains!

The pictures online are fabulous, but when we arrived and walked out on the back patio, we could not believe how gorgeous the property is! We had a great time exploring and relaxing outside. We loved that it was close to trails and spent several days exploring those trails. The location makes you feel far away from everything, even though it is just a quick trip into town for anything you could need or want.

I'm not sure how many acres this property is, guessing at least 15, but it's really cool how they have timbers that mark the trails. The 9-year old, very quickly got his bearings, and both he and his 4-year old sister had a fabulous time roaming the property, of course under our supervision. The kids figured out very quickly, there was no point in side trips, we just wanted to enjoy the property. The house is great. We've stayed at a lot of VRBOs, and this one is better proportioned that most. Plenty of dishes, pans, baking dishes, glassware. Big kitchen, fun to work in. An actual games cabinet! A couple of bonus areas; a reading area, and a man cave with a chaise and a guest bathroom. Some suggestions. Wine glasses without stems; the ones there are lovely, but they don't fit in the dishwasher. Seems ridiculous to carry a stemmed glass in and out of the property. Saran wrap and aluminum foil? Sugar? Use of the garage, not sure why that's off-limits, a peak-in from a side window, only showed some minor equipment in there. Would be nice to have the cars free from hail damage. The washer and dryer are old and need to be replaced. I even tried running loads twice through spin, and they were still sopping wet. How about a 4th horseshoe? I tried like hell to find it.

Lovely home. Great Kitchen for people that cook. Enjoyed evenings and mornings by the pond. It would be nice to have a vacuum cleaner to keep floors tidy. If your kids are older now , I might suggest using the middle bedroom as the second bedroom and putting another king bed in there since that bathroom is much larger than front bedroom. We hope to visit again.
