Hotel Amari

It was mentioned on Expedia this hotel has free parking with EV charging stations, that was the only reason i booked on this property, because i have an EV. The property doesn’t have parking and EV charging doesn’t exist. I had to pay $48 for the public parking couple of blocked away. The evening staff was not friendly at all, my friend wanted to visit me for 1 hour, he told us he has to reserve a room or can not even enter the lobby. I was very embarrassed and was trying to pay an extra money to just he enters for 1 hour, the staff was reacting very bad and he asked my friend nit in a polite way to go out. I never ever been treated like this in any property and i was shocked. Not a good experience and I don’t recommend this place to anyone, specially with the false free parking advertising.

Hotel Amari is in a good location and is a great price for downtown San Francisco. Rooms are adequate and bed is reasonable. Parking Garage is right next door. Be aware that they do not serve breakfast, but there are lots of options nearby. The staff was EXCELLENT!

Hotel has no parking even though when booking it said parking is available. It's available in the parking garage next to the hotel and will cost you $47 for every 24 hours. The room I booked was $87 for 1 night adding in the parking plus the ridiculous $250 deposit the room became quite costly and to worth it. The room itself is old and the only source of air is a box fan in the room. Avoid this place.

Was ok for a quick stay, older run down decor and furniture but Clean. Mattress was horrible though, sunk in the middle causing you to lean into the center if trying to sleep on either side. Parking is a few door down from the hotel and requires a voucher from the hotel front desk and is valet only.

This hotel is dirty, no air conditioner and no parking. They say parking is available but when we ask where we can park, they told us there was no parking and we have to pay for our own parking at the cost of almost 60.00 dollars a day. They told us they were out of vouchers and that they were going to have them available the day of our departure. The hotel was disgusting dirty, the three nights we stayed they never changed our bed sheets. They do not have air conditioner and they provide filthy fans. When I told the front desk to provide parking the person working there started to argue with me, I said that the information they provided on Expedia is misleading and that they would definitely get a bad review, the front desk person said that I was threatening them and that they can kick me out of the hotel because I said that! Bed sheets were not washed properly when we arrived, they stink really bad and there was other peoples hair on them. They do not provide hand soap either. The building stinks really bad. Long story short, I rented two rooms as there was two couples and the other room was filthy as well. I do not recommend staying at this hotel unless you don’t mind paying lots of money and staying in a filthy place.

Be aware that Hotel Amari does not have air conditioning and there was only one functioning outlet in my room - which was being occupied by the television. Great location, but there's not really a place to park that won't cost you at least 50 bucks a night.

The hotel had no parking and we had to pay $42 per night a few doors down. On New Years Eve, we could not pull the car out of the parking structure from 12 pm to 8:00 am the next day (New Year’s Day). The cleaning service came to clean the room while we were still asleep and never came back to clean.

We were told to park in Olympic parking because the hotel had a discounted rate, but when we checked out we were told they were "out" of discounted rates parking tickets when we checked out. Also found an old banana under our night stand. Great walking distance from many bars, china and Japan town. Probably would stay again

Hotel was clean and comfy. Hallways and shiny mirrors. Inside my room was clean and bedspread and blanket were in pert condition. Bed was comfy and 4 pillows A plus. Hot water, great location. Quiet on nye

Halls are dark. Towels are dirty. Bathrooms are too small.

This is the nastiest hotel I have stayed at. The water was dark brown so I could not shower. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Hotel smells. Splatters on the elevator doors. TV didn’t work. No repair service. Didn’t seem to care. Had to check out early because we were sick. Had a doctors note. No concession from the hotel.

Room had funky smell, the window to open for fresh air was almost unopenable. Bathroom floor had black stain under linoleum and no vent for bathroom.

I’ve stayed in cheap motels and hostels that were cleaner and had a more modern appearance. Not sure of how clean the towels or the bedsheets were after noticing stains on the hand towels which I was told by the front seat was permanent makeup… I don’t know anything about makeup, I’m a guy. There is t any exhaust in the bathroom/ shower, just a window. No A/c… upgraded room wasn’t an upgrade. Cracked sink and smells of smoke in a non smoking hotel. This is what I ended up getting on a last minute notice for a work trip… yuk

Staff was great and helpful. Close to dinning and transportation. Older hotel the only issue we had was the heater. We always had to tell the front desk to make sure it didn’t turn on and if it turned on we had to call to have it turned off.

The hotel was very clean and beds were comfortable. Only complaint was there were no AC vents in our room, so it was a little uncomfortable when we’d come back from it being shut up all day. Did have a big window and would cool off using the fan provided, but can’t imagine how hot it would get in there on really warm days.

The staff was great. There was an issue with our room that was resolved quickly. The only recommendation is that they should not list the beds as queens; they should be listed as doubles or full size.

Need to wait more than 10 minutes for hot water to arrive for your shower.

Location was good. Close to bus and metro stops. Fitness room had 3 cardio machines and was tiny. No dumbbells, stretching mats or towels. Room was small but all we needed. Quite noisy at night times with sirens and street noise.

The room was very small and the radiator used to heat it did not turn on which made for a fairly cold night.

Add $42.00 to park your car. No heating in the rooms. Add $35.00 for early check in (before 3pm). Smell of not fresh in the lobby. Location is all right. It seems they are doing renovations bit by bit. Rooms are ok. No breakfast.

Online it shows Parking Available, but parking very expensive and terrible. You must wait for your car very long time. You can not bring even one friend to your room. What is that? Lot of stupid rules. I f I new them before I will never stay in this hotel..

Friendliest staff. Very nice

The area was super convenient! I have never experienced staff as rude or unaccommodating as I did at Hotel Amari. They charge your CC for a damage deposit but only accept certain American credit cards. While spending over an hour to figure out the situation we saw many other guests deal with the same inconvenience. Don’t assume your Canadian credit card will work here.

The room was okay but out dated. And the service was absolutely terrible . I had booked the room for one guest and when I showed up with my friend they told me she wasn’t allowed to come up. Even with an ID

Not sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful. Always felt safe. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco.

One thing that bothers me yet is that they are not redunding the caution money which they took during the check in.

Avoid Hotel Amari – Unclear Policies and Poor Customer Service My experience at Hotel Amari was incredibly disappointing. Upon arrival, I was informed that I could only have one guest visit me during my entire 7-day stay, and that guest had to be registered at the front desk. This policy was never disclosed prior to paying my deposit, which I found extremely misleading. The front desk staff was consistently rude and unaccommodating, and every time I needed to re-enter the hotel, I had to be buzzed in like a visitor instead of a paying guest. The entire experience felt restrictive and unwelcoming. Because of these undisclosed policies and poor treatment, I refused to stay at the hotel. I had to go back and forth with Expedia, and only after significant effort did Hotel Amari finally agree to refund both my stay and deposit. I insisted on written confirmation on their letterhead, as I didn’t trust them to follow through otherwise. They claimed it would take 28 days to receive my refund. Save yourself the frustration—look elsewhere. This hotel operates with a lack of transparency and respect for its guests.

This Hotel is located 1-1/2 blocks from Powell Street (Cable Car Route). It holds its authenticity from its waiting room to the dumb waiter. Nothing is too far if you purchase a $36 - 3-day Muni pass at the end of Powell Street. We were located in the perfect spot to navigate our scavenger hunt for our 3 "Bucket List" restaurants.

Economic place to stay Personal was kind and friendly You will have multiple mobile options The only issue with the hotel is in the night, due the zone feels unsafe, also you will see homeless, but you will relax with the smell

It was a spacious room. But, the lighting was a bit dim, so it's hard to tell if the room is clean but I'm going to assume it was. The neighborhood can be a bit sketchy but the hotel is in a pretty good location: close to Union Square and the Bart.

Nice older hotel near union square. Nothing fancy here. Rooms are small and minimal amenities, but if you're looking for a decent stay in a great location that allows you to walk to bars, restaurants, shopping etc. It's all there. I would absolutely stay there again and probably will soon!

The place had a weird smell. There is no A/C. It is an old place. The area is also sketchy, especially at night.

Hotel Amari was an outstanding value in San Francisco. Hotel had an excellent location about two (uphill) blocks from Union Square or a half-mile walk from Powell and Market (BART and MUNI station). Lots of transportation options in all directions. The hotel was a little rough around the edges, but the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it had a refrigerator. The staff was friendly and helpful and buzzed guests into the lobby which added to security. At night the area is quiet.

I know it’s a 3 star place. When we first arrived, there was an overwhelming smell of cleaning solution. We had to open the window wide and later keep that window open an inch all night. By morning, the smell had dissipated. The room is tight on space. Our key card was disabled after the first day and it had to be recoded. There’s no restaurant, but a short 5 minute walk to another street there’s a nice place. On the plus side, the staff is nice. We wanted to store luggage until our flight later in the day. That was no issue.

It was a nice stay. The room was nicely sized. The bed was lumpy but they had plenty of pillows. The bathtub was deep that was nice water was hot. The TV never worked. We informed the front desk, and they gave us a different remote control that had no batteries. They never came to see what the problem was & they never sent maintenance to check it out. We had no TV for the entire stay. It would be really nice if they offered a tea service or breakfast. Other than that it was a nice place with reasonable rates & private bathrooms.

Great value for money. The hotel is a bit basic and dated but offers everything for a great stay at SF: facilities in the room tv, fridge etc, great location (near china town shops,public transportation: direct line from airport), staff is friendly and all that for a very competitive rate.

- we had a tiny room while our friends, who paid the same, had a bigger one - The sink was over the toilet bowl making it cumbersome to sit - Would be a good idea to remove the carpet everywhere. - Many homeless at night in the neighborhood. But it’s not the worst neighborhood. - Would be nice to have a common room downstairs to have a drink/food with friends because bedroom is a bit small for that - Their web site says «\xa0traditional British pub and restaurant on-site\xa0» while in fact it is closed. - No continental breakfast either The hot water was coming fast in shower well located, close to China town and transport free wifi

Great place to stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. 24 hour front desk. Clean and cozy rooms with fire escape. No microwave in room, but there is a fridge and the lobby floor has a lounge with an ice machine and a soda vending machine. Lots of fantastic eating options near by and plenty of things to walk to and see and shop. Easy to order food via Doordash or Uber if you want to stay in or easy to get a ride if you want to go somewhere. I would stay there again.
